Since this seems to have become more of a common practice lately, this is a notice and explanation for anyone thanking (or about to thank) me for a fave.

The 'Read Later' function shows stories by first posted date, by default, so I tend to stick stories that I have a passing interest in there to dig through if I'm really bored.  The Favorites list is what I use to keep track of stories I'm reading, stories I've read (ones I've upvoted and downvoted), and ones that look interesting that I don't want to lose track of because they look promising but need work, and I'd like to read them once said work has done.  Similarly, if a story looks good but seems kind of short initially, I like to let it build up a few chapters (or finish, whichever comes first) before reading it.

Sadly, the number of stories that I want to read vastly outstrips my capacity to actually read them.  At the  time of writing there are a flat 7250 chapters in my Favorites list, and 1543 stories in my Read Later list.  There is a bit of overlap there when I forget to take off the Read Later marker, but not a lot of it.

Back before thanking people for clicking the star became somewhat common, I used to fast-track my reading of a story whenever anyone posted.  Unfortunately, between school and the increased rate of this I simply can't do that anymore, but if you REALLY want a critique from me, please shoot me a PM.

Also, I tend to be something of a silent reader.  Unless there's something in your story that really gets my knickers in a twist, or there's something that shines so bright I can't help but comment, I'm not particularly likely to say anything.  Related to this is my upvote and downvote policy.  I don't do either until I've read the most recent chapter of a story.  I generally pick out stories that look interesting in the first place, so most stories get an upvote.  If I personally didn't like the story but it's well-written nonetheless, I'll still upvote.  If I like the story itself but isn't very technically well-written, then I'll refrain from reading until it's in a more readable state.  If the story's concept is completely mishandled, or tthe writng luks li.ke ths then ill pres the donvot.

The reason I come across so many stories to favorite is because I use the Browse function daily to check for new stories, though that doesn't mean some don't slip the net.  Just an addendum for anyone curious.
