ObabScribbler did a reading of Storm, the first piece of fiction I've written since my resume my loan applications I got my cutie mark.

This is a top notch reading. The narration is well paced and easy to listen to, the voices really evoke each character, and oh god, your voice is great, Scribbler. No, really. Like, almost Morgan Freeman level. It's a hair over 40 minutes long and is really, really professionally done. I'd take this over my copy of LotR that I paid for.

Seriously. Listen to it, um... That is, if you want to.

I'm no longer affiliated "officially" in any way with EqD, but someone who is posted an invitation to ask questions and/or complain about parts of pre-reading. If you have questions about specific fics, go bother him.

Yeah. I keep trying to set aside time for art and for writing, but it rarely seems to happen. I've got 6 images for List, and two sketches to turn into images, but even if I get those done today, I'm a month behind where I wanted to be. I've got 12k on my current fic, and I should have finished it a month ago (if not last year :|). Sometimes I wonder how the hell I'll ever have time for this stuff.

I dunno. Post is mostly reassurance I haven't quit writing or w/e: I'm just slow as crap. Gonna try to bang out another sketch base or two today. We'll see.

So. A while ago I mentioned getting a better artist to do List's cover. I talked with Obscure and he decided to buy it for me. Which is awesome. The first artist flaked out, which is less awesome. Then he decided to contact all the artists.

    underpable made this

    which is just beautiful.

He also got Mad Max to do

As a final bit of awesome to hammer this blog post of amazing art home, I just picked up this from the frame shop.

I bought a print of this from Tridgeon at Canterlot Gardens and finally got it framed.

    Today was a good day.

I'm sure this will seem like a less good idea when I awaken.

Ask me anything. Do it. I don't even care.

    have pictures.

    List Book Update · 12:42am

On my [user page], there is a widget in the top left. Under the 'canon' links is a little progress section on the Twilight's List book. I've gotten my first external review handled and finished. I'll be uploading the changes to fimfic later tonight after I reformat for the web. Just thought people would like to know that the pdf of what will probably be printed is linked there. I need to proof the PDF again (only done the Word docs so far), but figured some might like to take a look. It does not have any of the art I am still trying to do, nor the final Afterwards, but it does have the story laid out for printing.

Since it's a print layout, you'll note that text is not centered, but has a 1/4" binding gutter. After I finish all this crap and send it to the publishers, I'll generate an e-reader version too. In related news, if anyone has a good epub renderer for OSX, I'll probably need that for debugging.

While the content of this blog is safe, the link is not. Not for work, home, or sanity.

So, the local library's Pony Palooza event happened this Saturday. It surprised pretty much everyone involved with how many people showed up. Pretty sure Andy was a little overwhelmed. I didn't get to talk much with him, because the line was still out the door for his signature. I got a signed and numbered print from him and had to get a frame on the way home. You can see it below.

I think I may need more Pinkie Pie figures. I know I need more Rainbow Dash.

It's almost too bad it was so crowded. I wanted to get a few copic tips from Andy, but the man was buried in fans. Maybe next time? Probably not. I doubt the popularity will lessen. What was gratifying to see, were the number of adult fans who brought their kids. There was a ton of stuff for kids to do there, but I didn't really imagine quite so many adult MLP fans lived in my area.

That's it. Got nothing much else. In-Laws visiting this week, so edit and writing time is gonna be sparse.

Oh wait. Does anyone else have this issue?

List does not do that, but the unpublished, and created after last update, Lust story has it's apostrophe replaced by an html entity. Just curious.

So, I've made some minor formatting changes and fixed some grammar and said bookisms in Twilight's List (Edit: and uploaded these changes to fimfiction). I'm still formatting for printing. I found out that blurb is not really that good, ans so am using a different printer (Book1one). The printer used for Flight of the Alicorn is way too expensive unless I can get guaranteed ~40 people buying it. They have super high upfront and pretty low marginal costs, so I'm assuming they're doing something like making plates.

A new cover is in the works too. This one is being made by an actual talented artist, so that will be nice. I'm still learning how to use InDesign, but I think this is going to be pretty professional looking by the time I'm done. Here's the title page.

As for how to buy it. I'm probably going to have a single week I take orders. Paypal will have to include book + shipping for those not picking it up at BronyCon. I'll ship using any service you like (USPS is cheapest), but will need to calculate shipping beforehand. From experience, it's around 12-16 USD to ship something to Europe (unless this book weighs a heck of a lot more than I think). When I *do* start taking orders, that'll probably be it. I don't see how I could ever justify a second printing. I'm still mildly surprised there was any demand for the first.

    Status:

    Text Formatting: done

    Primary Edit Sweep : done

    Secondary Edit Sweep: 0/2

PDF Layout: 1/15 (Title Pages and boiler plate, 12 chapters, A/N, cover and flaps)

Cover Art: 0/2 (front and spine/back)

Internal Art: 0/? (if I have time, decent B&W internal pics)

I'll try to concentrate more on this. It was pretty disheartening to get the Blurb formatting done only to find their quality has slipped a lot.
