...I've not been on FIMFiction for a few months. Actually, I've not been online at all. I've been taking a break from my internet existence, although I didn't really make a conscious decision to do so. Things just seemed to work out that way. Maybe finishing Much Ahoof took it out of me?

All I can do is beg your patience as I work out what I want to do. I think I need to work on my own projects for a while. The ponies are still dear to my heart - of course! - and I think that when Season 3 comes along I'll be gripped by new inspiration, but please don't be surprised if I suddenly start churning out stories again next week. Inspiration is a bit like that - you never know when it will strike you.

Sorry about the wait - I've been in self-imposed exile from the internet until I got my life in order.

Well, okay - I told a little fib. It's not the final part... there's a short epilogue as well! Expect it anon.

Also, I've started writing part two of Wine for Two. You can expect that soonish too. I'm on holiday at the moment, and for once I have time to write!

Hi everyone!

I noticed that there's been a little confusion about a comment I made under Part 8 of Much Ahoof About Nothing. There WILL be a Part 9 and then a much-shorter Epilogue after that to bring everything to an appropriate close.

Also, apologies for the little dive into the SAD tag that the story has taken. The climax of the story was supposed to come out in a single part, which would have measured the drama out a little bit better - Part 9 has the lion's share of the laughs and heart-warming moments. It's a prime example of the ol' Butterscotch tone-shift (which caused so much consternation in The Party Hasn't Ended when it first came out), but rest assured that it's a temporary one, and one that is necessary for the story. Just remember:

The night is always darkest right before the dawn.

I will say no more! Except to say that you won't be waiting a month for part 9. It's mostly written, but it needs a lot of smoothing around the edges, and real life looks like it will give me the time to do it for once!

It's been sent to my lovely proofreaders/friends/cronies and I should be able to upload it in a day or two. There'll be a Part 9 and then an epilogue as well... it seems the more I edit, the more I write, which is a very, very bad habit indeed.

Sorry about the delay, but real life has been making demands from me recently. I'm also stressed out of my gourd!

Hi everyone!

By now, you'll all have realised I was in on that little project where I was paired with the most excellent Obselesence: both of us wrote stories and uploaded each other's to see what would happen.

First of all, the reason I joined in on this was not because I wanted to trick people. The reason? I was curious! I wanted to see if people could spot my writing style; if people would react differently to a story which was SAD rather than SHIPPING and so on. I found the results pretty interesting.

I loved Obselesence's story, didn't you? There was something so hard to define - a  melancholy feeling that I've never been able to capture in my own writing. My stories are always WHAM BANG BIG EMOTIONS kinda deals, but Obselesence is the master of something I struggle to achieve myself - subtlety, Also, his Steven Magnet was amazingly well written.

I hope everyone enjoyed both of our stories: Obselesence's Into the Everfree and my own Fluttershy's Infernal Adventure. If you missed one, jump in and read it RIGHT NOW!

Also, the last part of Much Ahoof is about a week away. Sorry to keep you all waiting!

Part one of the finale of Much Ahoof About Nothing has just gone to my proofreaders (Celestia bless their hearts and souls!), so you can expect it to be uploaded on the weekend.

"What do you mean, part one?" I hear you ask! Well, in order to cover all the awesomeness that happens in the finale, I've had to split it into two parts. The final part of the finale (wait, that's right, isn't it?) will be uploaded next weekend (It's already mostly finished, but some parts still need work... )

Also, would anypony be angry at me if the story went completely off the rails and turned into a TwiDash story instead?

... it doesn't, so don't worry!

I've noticed a lot of comments asking me when a certain story is going to be next updated. Well, the comments are more like

"When the heck are you going to update this!!!1111one I've been waiting for months!"

I promise that the stories will be updated! The reason things have slowed down a little recently is that I've been on holiday for the last three weeks. "But Butterscotch," I hear you ask. "Doesn't that mean you have lots of free time for writing?" Alas, not so! You see, I do my writing on the train to and from work (you may have noticed the scene on the train in Butterscotch's Adventures in Equestria). When I'm at home I have personal responsibilities that preclude me from writing for any extended period of time, and I hate being interrupted!  So I can comment and twitter and tumblr and so on, but not write with any kind of efficiency.

This week is the last week of my holidays (yay for being a high school teacher!), so you can expect things to start getting uploaded rapidly.

Here's my to-do list.

1) Much Ahoof About Nothing Part 7 - this is 95% finished and will soon enter the editing phase. Expect it next week!

2) Much Ahoof About Nothing Part 8 - Finale - this is 65% complete. Expect it a week or so after Part 7 is uploaded.

3) A story I've been working on involving Fluttershy.

4) Part 2 of Wine for Two.

5) Butterscotch's Adventures in Equestria. The first phase of this finished (with the revelation of the true identity of Esther), and it will continue off and on as I work on other stories as a whimsical escape.

6) And so on! (Part 2 of The Luxury Lotus Spa Follies, The Mistress of Midnight Castle, various requests etc.

Phew!

Also, can I use this opportunity to give a big shout-out to the Sexty Minute Pony Stories guys? This is their tumblr right here! Every Wednesday and Sunday, they post a prompt and then you've got sixty minutes (of your own time! They use the honour system) to produce a clopfic work of art! I'mma definitely try my hand at it (although the timing is a bit funny for one stuck down here in the Antipodes as I am). The last prompt was a sexy PinkieTwi story, and I'm kicking myself for missing it.

My dear friend Twilight Flopple aka Foxxy Hooves has finally arrived in FiMFiction.net! She doesn't really need an introduction, since she's one of the original big names in the fandom, but I'll try my best! She's both an artist (check out her DA here!) and a writer, a fact which would make me extremely envious if we weren't such great friends. For one thing, my OC Butterscotch Sundae was designed by her, and she was also one of the first people who did fanart of one of my stories - it's the illustration she kindly let me use for Twilight Sparkle and Rarity's Magic Book. Her drawing Luna's Socks was the inspiration for my story of the same name, and we even produced an illustrated version of it together which can be read here!

Anyway, Foxxy's here on FiMFiction now, and she's uploaded two of her stories so far: Adventures in Cake Making, an adorable and whimsical tale involving Carrot Top and Derpy Hooves, and Heart Light, a story starring your's truly! They're a little different from the sort of stories I write (they are, for example, much better written - I challenge you to find someone with a better command of description than her) and come with my strongest recommendation.

We're also working on a spicy little collaboration, but it's all very hush-hush.

Hi everypony!

I guess there's been a little controversy about my latest story, Wine for Two, in which Twilight and Spike get romantically involved.

Now, some people have said that it's a criminal situation. But it's really not. Allow me to explain....

It's all a question of maths, really. Twilight was a filly when Spike was born - if you look at her character model, she looks a bit younger than the CMC. If we think of the CMC as about 10 or so (they're in Elementary school, right?), I put filly Twilight at maybe 8 when Spike was born. Twilight is now around, I don't know, 24 years of age or something like that. So there's probably only around an 8 year difference between the two, which makes Spike around 16 or thereabouts, within the age of consent. Maybe other people's head canon is different from mine, but that's what I'm working from.

Now, I guess Spike looks a lot younger than that, but he can't be anything like the 5 or 6 year old he appears if we follow the canon series of events. The whole issue of Twilight being his mother-figure or whatever, now, I guess that might creep some people out, but this "cougar" revolution is making the whole older-woman, younger-man thing a lot more acceptable (which is only fair, I feel).

So really there's nothing much to argue about. As for the whole drunk thing, they're tipsy rather than drunk, and they're both clearly sober enough to consent (although being half asleep does complicate matters somewhat, doesn't it?). No court in Equestria, or even in our own shabby world (except, I guess, for some fundamentalist religious courts), would convict Twilight of any sort of crime.

This one needs a little explanation!

It's a Twilight x Trixie story I wrote a while back. Originally, it was the sequel to The Luxury Lotus Spa Follies, but a lot of readers (very correctly) took me to task for the dramatic change in tone between the two stories. Follies is light and funny, while Mistress is dark and psychological - I guess I must have been in a pretty dark mood when I wrote it.

Anyway, I decided at the suggestion of my dear friend Foxxy Hooves to separate the two stories into different series - so Follies will soon be given a sequel called The Canterlot Castle Capers, while Mistress will continue with Betrayal at Midnight Castle. Hope that makes sense.... anyway, tl;dr version is more Twixie coming, and plenty of it!
