Hello all. My good friend Razorbeam has started a little writing tournament called The Unity Games and I would like to invite you to check it out! OCs may join the battle up until Sunday, and even once the fights start, everyone is allowed to watch and cheer! And, of course, I had to enter! You may recognize the pony involved...
Champion: Rapid Fire
Race: Changeling
Appearance: Not at all different from your average changeling, though she often likes to take the guise of an olive green earth pony in a modern military uniform, complete with kepi hat and ranking epaulets. A sage green mane and tail give an almost forest camouflage effect to her look, though the red eyes and the 'cutiemark' of three flame trails hamper the effect.
Stats:
VIT - A
WIL - A
STR - B
AGI - A
INT - C
Abilities: Intense use of magic to empower the body, allowing for surprising feats of agility, strength, and endurance.
Equipment: Magitech shock boots on her front hooves, a 'borrowed' experiment from the Canterlot Royal Guard. They deliver a powerful shocking punch, but only have enough power for a few hits before needing to recharge through movement.
Personality: Aggressive, young, and fond of trickery and misdirection, but doesn't put much truck in spells. Is playful when off duty, but deadly serious on the job. Many mannerisms are more pony than changeling. She is always up for a challenge.
Story:
Rapid Fire was a changeling in pony lands since the day she was born to an undercover pair doing recon in Canterlot. She grew up fed both on Changeling and pony ways of life, and has made a balance of the two, though she has always been more fascinated with her Changeling roots. She picked up a set disguise for most of her life, adding a cutie mark when appropriate and loving the fact that nopony knew the real her. She even got accepted into the Royal Guard's relatively new Magitech Division when she applied, something she had only dreamed of when she was younger. However, it was all taken away with Chrysalis' invasion.
She didn't side with the Changelings, something that took her parents by shock when it happened, instead renouncing her Changeling name and helping the Royal Guard fight them off. When the barrier sent her flying, she even trekked all the way back to return to her post. There was a lot of suspicion around her after that, and a lot of work to make sure she wasn't found out, but for years she kept it up, helping the Guard build machines mostly against her own kind.
Then Aurus came, and with his peaceful new Changeling kingdom came a renewed faith in Rapid's own heritage. She traveled to Changeling lands for the first time in her life, marveling at their cities and learning a little of their ways. She also was finally able to reveal herself to her fellow guards, and while they were wary, her years of service set their minds at ease.
Now that the tournament begins, she wants to prove herself as a child of both worlds: That only through the help of both sides is she able to compete (though for a changeling to lose in their own city is a foolish thought in her mind).
[Yep, different universes change the backstory.]
On a partially related note: The RP thread of contestant interaction is very distracting and is slowing down my writing. I might not make it by the morning, but I am SOOOO CLOSE. I'll have the new story out before the world ends (aka Friday).
