Endings Are Hard · 3:16am
You know, when I asked for ideas for the Cloptober Challenge, I was reasonably confident I'd be done with Suck by now. As it turns out, while I'm mostly done with the ending, I find myself wondering if I'm tying the plot points, if it's going too long, etc. I'm actually thinking of splitting the ending in two and using what I have now as a Chapter 9.
That brings me to the topic of this here post. Why is it that endings are always so damned much harder than beginnings? When I start up a story, I'm a house afire with so many different ideas, perhaps too many. However, as I near the end, it becomes more and more difficult to make an effective ending. What is it that makes an ending so hard to write, and more to the point, what do any of you other writers reading this do to push through an ending, because it's proven to be the hardest part of fic writing to me.
