About my Avatar

Name: Formerly Iron Cross, changed to Cross Van Helmstadt upon entering Germany and joining Wehrmacht.
Height: 4.0' 9.0"
Weight: 90 lbs, currently 85 lbs
Eyecolor: Blue
Mane/Tail: Blonde
Born: Canterlot.
Occupation: (Retired) General der Infanterie of the German Wehrmacht. Expected by many to be blacksmith or do business with metals when born in Equestria.
Awards: Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross (with swords, oak leaves, and diamonds), German Cross (in Gold), Wehrmacht Long Service Award (twice), Memel Medal, and Sudetenland Medal.

Born in a rich but kind family, his parents made their best guess in naming him. As a foal, Cross's strange Cuite Mark earned insults and teasing from his classmates at the high-end academy he attended. At 7 years of age, he ran away to Gryphon Kingdom after parents died in tragic boating accident. There, he was found by a retired Gryphon soldier, Quick Claw. Quick Claw raised him and taught him hoof-to-hoof combat, swordsmanship, survival skills, and how to use bow and arrow. Cross also developed a taste for meat, though some kinds caused occasional discomfort when he ate them. After reaching adulthood, he tried returning to Canterlot. Mistaken for Gryphon-hired spy upon returning, he was captured and incarcerated. Unfairly Banished from Equestria for false crimes against the state, he found himself in the year 1929 in Germany on Earth. Alone and afraid, Cross was soon found by local authorities and incarcerated in a private pen in the Berlin Zoo. Upon a panel of scientists quickly realizing his realizing his sentience, he was released and a meeting be tween him and Hitler was arranged. He found Hitler to be a very charismatic and passionate, but also a bit maniacal as well. Although odd, his strategic and combat knowledge was impressive, and Hitler saw the opportunity for a good soldier. He was allowed to enter the finest military academy in Germany and given full privileges of an Aryan citizen. After graduating from the academy, he went through basic training, passed with flying colors, and then assigned to them 9th Army. He escalated through the ranks very quickly, and he served as General der Infanterie of the 9th for two years. Secretly hated Aryan and Nazi ideology, and plotted to take down Hitler. He later was transferred to Afrika Korps in 1940. When asked by Rommel why he had wanted to transfer, Cross simply replied, "Why not? Sounds like you have fun." Upon serving, he and Rommel became good friends and both agreed on many things, and Allied forces knew them as the Desert Kit and the Desert Fox. Cross never directly helped allies, but it is suspected that on a few occasions he or some of his men returned stranded soldiers and pilots that landed within their range of operations. Eventually, he discovered that Rommel was apart of a plan to eliminate Hitler and overthrow the Nazi Government. He joined the plan as well, but immediately cut all ties and hid any connections he had to it when it failed. After Rommel being discovered he was associated with the failed plan, Hitler order Rommel to commit suicide by swallowing a cyanide pill. Cross convinced Rommel not to commit suicide, and Hitler was outraged when he found out, but before he could do anything, he was assassinated by an unknown Wehrmacht officer in early 1945. Eventually, it was revealed that Rommel had killed him. Rommel and other high ranking officers (including Cross), managed to topple the government, and even Himmler supported the ousting. The allies soon got news and with military forces crumbling and defeat practically looming over the horizon, Germany ceased all military and SS related activities. Peace negotiations opened up on September 21st, 1945, and the Treaty of Berlin was signed October 1st, 1945, making Germany a western ally. After the end of the war, Cross was offered a promotion to Generaloberst, but he turned it down, saying, "I've done enough here." He then quietly slipped into retirement and is currently living out the rest of his days in Berlin.
