Meh.  No big deal.

Looking forward to new things and backwards at all my other... things... and hoping to improve.  It's been a good year.  Hopefully there will be another good one.  

Getting back into the swing of things.

Don't hate me too much, there's bigger, better things in store.

I feel so loved.  But seriously this is a great milestone, and we should celebrate it together.  So here's to you guys:

Yah, so with this huge milestone in mind I hope to push forward full steam ahead on the next couple of big projects I have milling around (I'm looking at you Regidar) and really hope to continue to write fics.  

Of course, as far as the pony hiatus goes my free time will be more tightly focused on other things, so fic production will be slow, but not as slow as the past few months where it has been at a crawl.

But I hope to make it up to you guys by humiliating myself publicly.

So as recompense for being generally inactive lately, I want you to come up with the most unwritable, unthinkable, completely unusable premise ever.  A premise that is so difficult to write and so out there (or so mundane), but not random/crazy/stupidly incoherent, that it seems impossible to make a good story out of.  I promise I will write one this time.  I Pinkie promise.  (Edit:  I guess I'll do the one with the most approval/likes, but if they're all tied I'll just choose the best/worst one)

But for now, I must go.  Regidar knows what he must do.  Hopefully all goes well.

So I'm going to be stepping out of my comfort zone with my next story.  I want to try new things, write a different kind of story.  I apologize in advanced if you hate the story and want me to go back to my old writing style, but I've been formulating this story for months and have decided I just want to get it out there.  

It breaks out of my comfort zone in three ways:

1) It's not centered on comedy or jokes

2) It has elements of romance in it ("Oh My God TheOnly wat are u doing?" I asked myself the same question)

3) It has fucking romance in it wtf am I writing

4) There's a storyline and there isn't a storyline

5) It has multiple chapters (This one is important.   After abandoning so many fics that I tried to make multiple chapters, I'm going to try to force myself to write all the chapters of this story in hopes that after finishing it I'll have the motivation to go back and finish all my other incomplete fics)

6) It has an adventure tag (Oh God why)

7) It has OCs in it, please forgive me.

(Oh and I kinda ignored fanon... not sure how people are going to take that one)

Yes.  While the story still has comedy in it, it's much more sparse and doesn't focus on it at all.  I promise I will return to trollery and comedy as soon as this is over, just stick with me here.

Hopefully things go well.  First time I've been hesitant to submit a fic.  I'm way out of my element here, so just bear with me.  

In other news, I might be having more free time soon so that means my fic drought may come to an end and I'll finally be able to write more stories again.  So that's it, really.

I can't hide it any longer.  Its a secret that I have been keeping inside me for too long.

This blog post is going to have a substantial lack of ponies, but I can do what I want so you'll just have to deal with it for now.  Sorry about that.

Anyway, I've recently (not that recently) stumbled upon a show known as Gravity Falls.  If you haven't seen it yet, I'd advise watching it.  Why?

Well, I'll tell you why.  It's a cartoon that's "designed for kids" just like MLP is, but easily appeals to an older audience.  Therefore, if you like MLP, it should logically follow that you like this show, too.  It also includes amazing animation, superb voice work, great writing, and lovable characters.  All these characteristics sound familiar?  That's because they're large reasons that we, the bronies, watch MLP.  So, once again, if you like MLP you'll probably like Gravity Falls.  Logically, I mean.

One more quick on the writing of the show.  The comedy is pretty much right up my alley.  It's a sort of humor that hits me very close to home, and if you've read my fics you know my sense of humor, and the show has moments where for the first time in a long time I'd burst into laughter.  It's a rare occasion when that happens.  I've never felt as though a show so precisely exemplifies my type of humor.

Also, the show is pretty epic.  And the theme song has been stuck in my head for weeks.  And the people who write the show are just as super-cool as the cast of MLP.  The show consistently has secret, cryptic messages both hidden in the episodes and blatantly shown but encrypted.  Also, there is a sense of mystery floating around the show as a whole at almost all times and seems to be building up a pretty hefty plot arc that will keep you interested long after you've finishes all the available episodes.

So, yeah, this is a little PSA to go watch the show.  You may be yelling at your screen, "But TheOnly, why are you telling us to go watch it on a site about ponies?"

Well, I think the show is great and enjoyable and I wish to share my enjoyment with all of my wonderful followers (you guys).  You don't have to, but you should definitely go ahead and give it a try and then report back here when you are miserable and wishing that the new episode would come out already so we can mope in sadness together.

Also, as far as my writing goes, new fics ARE on the way, and I will be putting out some new ones in the days to come.  Hopefully you all haven't assumed that I died in a fire somewhere.  I've got big plans for the coming week.  Big plans indeed.

Shout out to Chromosome who sadly left us.  It was a sad day indeed.  He shall never be forgotten.  

Also let it be known that I am planning to release my parody of White Box very soon, good job to those of you who somehow guessed it beforehand.  I'm watching you.

Don't read further if you don't want any "spoilers".

You've read further, I assume you don't mind tiny spoilers, granted you've probably already watched the premiere.  Anyway, the first episode, or episodes, of Season 3 have left me completely empty handed with any sort of material I can use to write any sort of fic.  Seriously, King Sombra has no personality, no background, nothing to work off of.  I can't even fathom how little I know about the main villain of the opening season except for the fact that his magic is pretty bitchin'.  

The crystal ponies leave much to be desired for, practically no details about them are given and their "history" consists of fun things they do at the fair.  Sigh, not much to work with here.  There's not much special about them either, other than that they sparkle.

And other than that, especially as a predominantly comedic fic writer, the episode left little to work with except for GAK and that's just... not something I'm willing to work with.

The episode/s were good, I liked them, but I walk away empty handed.

Sigh, I can't even think of any sort of fic I could write about the season opener.  I'm ridiculously bummed right now.

Oh well, at least season 3 is here.  I have work to do and fics to write, so I'll get on that as soon as I can.

Otherwise, it's going to be a long couple of days watching the fics about the season opener roll in.  Can't wait to see how many GAK fics are about to be written.  Ah well, I'll enjoy it while it happens.  Maybe for once I'll sit back and enjoy the fics instead of writing my own.

Anyway, that's pretty much it, just wanted to give my two bits on the season opener (which I didn't really do) and provide a quick update.  So, yeah, I'm not dead.  Maybe I'll just write something about the season opener anyway, just because I'm bored.  Maybe something about Rarity and being crystal.  

Well, that's about it.  Season 3 kicked off well, could've been better, but 40 minutes is a small window to work with.

I hope you enjoyed the first episodes, I know I did.  Rarity was too best pony in this episode to not like it.

I'm going to get hit by Hurricane Sandy this week, ughhh.

I hate hurricanes.  Anyway, I'm probably not going to have power the entire week if its bad, so I won't be able to get online.  

Therefore, I'll probably be inactive for the next week due to this dumb hurricane.  And just when I was getting back into the groove of things.  

Just thought I'd post a quick update about my near future.

So yeah, I'll probably be inactive this coming week.  Goody.  Stupid hurricane.

I've been inactive for quite some time now, and have failed to add new stories for too long to even think about.

Of course, when Season 3 starts that will all change, but for now motivation is hard to find, and therefore writing stories is hard to do.  However, that doesn't mean I don't have anything in store.  

My next writing assignment is to write something for Chromosome's "horror fanfic" competition.  Although I'm not generally fond of the horror genre (comedy is more up my alley), I take it upon myself to try my hand at writing a story without including comedy.  Of course, this does mean that all my other works have to come for a halt for the time being, as the horror fanfic competition has a due date, and I can't be late, I simply can't.  

Also, another parody story is slowly being churned out as it comes hot off of outline form and into rough draft form.  However, compared to My Little Stashie, this one will be significantly harder to pull off.  And no other fanfic has as large of a viewership as MLD that isn't 600k words long.  And parodying cupcakes just reminds people of it, and people don't like that.  So in the near future, probably a week or so, expect a new parody.  It shall be glorious, and infuriate the author of the original by how badly I butcher the characters.

I feel like I haven't submitted anything in forever and I'm terribly sorry.  I can't wait to start writing and submitting again and improving my writing.  I'm still looking for generally popular fanfics that are easily parodied (receive a lot of criticism like MLD), along with finishing up some old stories I never finished.  The End Of Ponyville is dying to receive its fourth chapter, and that is in the works, although it is queued underneath the horrorfic and the parody, and a continuation of the story "Changeling" is next.  

Among all these things Season 3 has a release date, and my pony hibernation is coming to a close (thank goodness).  I, along with the rest of you, shall squeal along in delight as a new season dawns upon us, a new age.  Hopefully, during this time, new characters are introduced, and thus fruit baskets full of comedy fanfics shall be produced from mine tree.  

Hopefully, people start shipping these new characters, and I can write more chapters for "How Every Shipfic Would Actually Happen".  And, if enough new characters are added, it may warrant a second version.

I just wanted to post a quick little update, let you all know I'm still alive and ready to write, and let you know the schedule (if you care).  

I'm open to any suggestions as always, feel free to leave me a PM about anything, and I'll see you all very soon with new stories.  

Also, one last thing; there are two things I'm bad at.  One of them is tennis.  The other is editing.  I can never seem to edit my work and get all the grammar mistakes out of my writing.  And it always is a pain to have to read through my own story multiple times to fix a bunch of mistakes I made (because if you haven't noticed, I do minimal editing on all my stories).  And since I don't have anybody pre-read, they almost always have grammar, spelling, or other mistakes hidden somewhere.  

Which is why I humbly ask you guys, the readers, to help me with this process by pointing out some of these mistakes that you notice if you decide to read any of my future stories and then either comment or message me about the mistakes you passively find while reading.  This helps immensely, as multiple eyes can spot more mistakes than I can alone, it saves me time trying to figure out the things I don't know about grammar (I'm terrible at it), and helps me fix my writing to make more sense in somebody else's mind, which is always good.  And please don't feel obligated, I'm fine with editing myself.

So very lazy.  I can't get anything done.  

On top of that, my mind has drawn a blank, and new story ideas just aren't rolling in at the moment.

I could write another parody, but it would be hard.  I don't want to do cupcakes, because it's too difficult to parody, and I don't want to do FO:E, because I'm not dedicated enough to read the entire thing so I can write a parody.

And I can't think of any other fic that is immensely popular with the fandom that I could parody, so I am at a loss.

On the bright side, if I don't think of anything very soon, I might just come around and actually finish The End of Ponyville with a finale chapter.

But if there's one thing I've learned, it's that I can't write chapter fics.  It's not like I can't physically do it, or that they come out bad, it's just the fact that I can't focus on one subject for too long, and never finish any of my chapter fics.

On top of that, every time I'm about to go back and finish up a story, or maybe start writing for Separation again, my mind comes up with an idea for a story that I just have to write.  It's a give and take relationship.

Anyways, I'm rambling right now.

I guess the point of this post is to let you all know that I'm pumping at stories at a record low pace, and probably won't even start writing again until Season 3 is under way.

That reminds me, when is the first episode to kick off season 3?  I'm so out of it...
