Hard at Work · 9:27am
I know I've been very quiet update-wise as of late, so I feel it's best that I put up a quick blog post.
As per normal, Those Who Came Before is still on hiatus until I've put out these last two Piano Man chapters. I just felt I should reaffirm that. The first of the two-part epilogue for The Piano Man: Act II is close to completion too. I apologize for the long wait.
Now, in regards to the long wait; I think I should briefly explain that I was drawn away from my writing for a time, as I was given some distressing news regarding a close family member. That's all I care to explain, and I wouldn't have mentioned it at all if I hadn't felt that I owed you guys an explanation.
I'll see you all with the next update.

>>443682 Oh, well...
I didn't really have the drive to write it any more. I had more original, more interesting and better thought-out projects going on, so I decided to just shove it in a corner and tell it to never leave.
man i was looking though my old cache of favorites and found your red-vs blue fic and i thought you died because you didn't update it in like 6 months but then i saw it was canceled and i just have one question
why?
oh and happy 499th stalker
when can we expect the next chapter?

Just so you know, I'm almost halfway through Act II, and I have to say I remain impressed. I cannot put it down! Seriously, these are both going in my hall of fame for "Quality Human in Equestria Fics".
But of course! Not many can say they've accomplished that feat.
I've been considering trying my hand at it some day, perhaps after I've completed my current project, What is a Name?
On a final note, I really love your taste in music. I can tell you're a fan of Rachmoninov, as am I. Still, I find it hard to believe that a nineteen-year-old young man can play his 2nd Concerto successfully. Sorry, but I couldn't help but notice that from Act I. Heh, you know it's like, over 30 minutes long, right? That would've taken up more than half of his performance.
I'm just being nit-picky. It doesn't change the fact that I am getting some serious entertainment out of Keys' tale. I think I might just finish Act II tonight!

P.S. I find it funny that some of my author buddies in a Skype group refer to me as "Key". Not quite the same, but nevertheless I assure you that I chose this alias long before I was aware of your story's existence.
>>415048 Thanks a bunch! I personally feel that the series as a whole hits its stride roughly halfway through Act II, which is when I start to get my paragraph formatting under control. The issue for some readers is that II is extremely different from its jumping-off point, and actually has very little actual piano playing.
What I'm trying to say here is that it seems - to me, at least - that those who loved the first story the absolute most are those who are most disappointed by the second. It's not that I feel you definitely will be disappointed, but I feel a sudden desire to cover my ass in this situation.
*ahem*
But moving on; thanks for the praise, and I sincerely hope that you'll enjoy part two. (And I take an obscene amount of pride in the fact that I made an original HiE story.)
Hey!
Your story, The Piano Man has been sitting in my "Read Later" list for months now. I put it there for the simple reason that I feel like I could relate to it a little. You see, I'm also an extremely passionate pianist. In just a few months, I'll be heading off to college to major in Piano Performance at Baylor School of Music. Needless to say, the title immediately grabbed my attention. Also, aside from Classical music, I'm a pretty big fan of Billy Joel.
Anyway, just a few hours ago I took a peak at my "Read Later" box and, upon seeing your story, decided to open it up and give it a go.
I finished it just a few minutes ago.
I really enjoyed it. All biased opinions towards the piano aside, I loved it. Like you said, it wasn't the greatest piece of literature ever written. At times, I noticed several spelling or grammatical errors. However, it was not nearly jarring enough to take away from my enjoyment of this completely and utterly original story.
Props to you for writing one of the few "Human in Equestria" stories I have truly enjoyed! I intend to begin Act II tomorrow.

>>374460 Well, I was planning to get stuck into it over a month ago, but have found myself unable to really write anything but the Piano Man.
So to that effect, you can expect me to really get back to work after I've properly wrapped-up Keys' tale.
Hay, whens the next 'ones who came before' chapter coming out? Loved the piano man btw
>>284258 I'm gonna take the lazy road and say "When it's done."
Remember, I've taken a holiday.

I'm surprised.
sealed in stone is the worst?
I'd think it'd be more witch hunt.
"Burn her on a cross!"
etc.
But yeah, that and I'm surprised Keys didn't mention capital punishment. I think you could have added that in as an interesting tidbit. But that's just me.
Can't wait till the next chapter,
