But like all good things, it was not to last.

The use of the Elements had a steep price.

It called for a need for souls.

Souls that would attract something more sinister to the land.

Demons.

They wiped out towns, burned villages, and stole the souls of the populace. Without souls, many of the ponies had grown insane, their bodies forced to live without thought.

And so, this is where we begin.
