    To be a draconequus is to be one of the most hated creatures in the world. Reviled. Hunted. Exterminated. A monster. But what someponies might not know is that monsters aren't born. They're made.

Gritt's sixth birthday in a nutshell:

Rosegold had a number of personality flaws, but one of his most crippling was his own notions of being witty and clever. To a degree, he was, but not as much as he believed.

He thought he climbed the ranks of the hippogriff navy entirely through his own merit and manipulation of military politics, but he was really being given preferential treatment by the Storm King so he'd be in a position to be used.

He thought he slipped in and out of the Badlands SPP tower and got away with it, but Littlepip watched him like a hawk from then on and reported everything he did that she could see to Homage and Gawdyna. Hence why Gawdyna knew so much about him and his abilities when they met.

Really, Crimson is who summed it up perfectly to him.

"You're not as slick as you think."

she'd essentially seen everything she worked for demolished in a day

Well, that's not entirely true. The NCR salvaged a great deal of the factories. After Sabre’s investments, Filly was more restored and productive than ever.

Hopefully knowing Fillydelphia became a legitimate beacon of industry after everything helps put Heidi's mind at ease. Give her some sense that it wasn't all for nothing.

I have to wonder what her read on Sabre would be. He tends to come off as an eccentric airhead, but it's on purpose. He prefers that people think they have an advantage over him and underestimate him, like when he first met Rosegold.

Jack Duquesne from "Hawkeye" was a large inspiration for his character, mixed with a little bit of Justin Hammer.

I feel like Heidi is world-weary enough to notice that Sabre is far more shrewd than he presents himself to be. The results he gets speak for themselves, after all.

In the highly improbable universe where she visited Fillydelphia again, I wonder how she'd feel upon seeing that her old office is now a functioning railroad junction.

An idea came to me while I was dehydrated at work;

A "Die Hard" parody set in Tenpony Tower with Gritt as John McClane.

It'd be set around a Hearth's Warming celebration, and the twist would be reversed. Instead of a heist crew pretending to be terrorists, it's terrorists pretending to be a heist crew. They make the hostages and NCR believe they're just there to rob the joint, when they're really after Celestia One, intending to use it on Junction Town.

Honestly, it's the perfect setup to have Gritt at a disadvantage, because of Tenpony Tower's strict rules about weapons. Gritt would have his guns, but all his ammo is locked in the lobby security office. He'd have rubber rounds, but those would only get him so far.

At least, until he acquires a weapon from the goons.
