"We are not yet completely familiar with the castle yet"
"To follow in her footsteps"
Errors like those annoy me, so I just went through chapter 6 of When Harmony Reigns and picked most of them out. I'm going to give writing that thing another chance, in light of the ratings on my stories. So... yeah, here's hoping I don't disappoint. Again.
Also, happy birthday me n stuff. Legal strong booze, ftw.

A change in tune helps too, apparently. I keep trying to write while listening to my usual stuff, which is... far from ideal.
Switched from this to this. That got me going, somehow.
>>149395 Perhaps you need a change of environment? Or may be something as simple as a change of activity. Like, instead of watching t.v, grab your bicycle/skateboard/car, or whatever way of transport you want, and go somewhere that you haven't been to.
Just try anything! Even watching a movie could help. You can get that stroke of inspiration/genius from the strangest of places, trust me.
It's happened to me a lot in the most awkward of times.

That's just it, though. In my... twenty-six weeks of writing, I've never felt inspired to write a story I had already started on previously.
>>149386 Oh, i'm not saying they have to be one shots!
I mean like, lets say you don't feel like your idea atm for a chapter or story isn't great. Just wait and go around to look for some inspiration, instead of forcing it out of yourself.

Just go take a look at the stories I've written. I'm not telling/asking you to read them, I'm just telling you to look at what stories I've written. The multi-chapter ones were written as you just described, the one-shots were written as I had one of those writing-moods.
I'm not going to write ONLY one-shots.
>>149369 Well, your slowly gonna start to hate writing if you make it seem like work to yourself then.
I've had a similar experience like that. I use to animate alot, but then I got hard on myself with it, and worked too much on it to the point where I felt like I was working. Eventually, I stopped, and never even touched the software to animate again. What a shame too, because I would've been a great animator now, considering how many years it would've been.
But the point is, if your not having fun, then don't do it until the mood comes to you.

Meet one of said unreasonably harsh critics, then. I'm not saying that I've voted on my own stories (only Greener Pastures, by missclick), but I do have ridiculously high standards when it comes to other people's stories. That much, I should think, is apparent from my favorites.
Which inadvertently brings me to the point you raised: me being too hard on myself. I suppose that's the only explanation there is, really.
Suppose I'll see where chapter 6 takes me, then.
>>149359 It's only 3 downvotes my friend. Don't worry about it!
Your 'condition' is you simply being hard on yourself!
Lets not forgot about all the upvotes you have. Besides, those downvotes probably come from uptight critics (who you shouldn't care about really), and hey, possibly even trolls. Who knows?

Should not have said that...
*ahem*
Yes, I have trouble remaining interested in stories I've posted but not finished. Downvotes get at me far more than they should. When Harmony Reigns (don't bother to look at it) is the one I'm currently considering giving up on. A solid six months of work down the drain, but I don't care NEARLY as much as I think I should.
I wonder if there's a name for this 'condition'?
