Wolves.
At one time, the world was filled with them, long before Equestria was formed. Terrifying and misunderstood, though deadly all the same, they ruled the woodlands of old. That was- until they disappeared.
Now, they are nothing but legendary, mythical creatures, only talked about in whispers around a crackling campfire, or on a dark and stormy night. Though these tales are just fiction, right? These creatures never existed...
But that's the thing about ghost stories. Sometimes, a title can have more meaning than one is used to.
Now, Twilight Sparkle and her friends will discover secrets long forgotten, as her and her friends, save for Rainbow Dash, literally become legends of claws and teeth. Loyalty will be tested, as will the notion of what's truly 'natural', and what it takes to survive.
And the only two princesses who can help them have fallen asleep on the job.
When Rainbow Dash was a young filly, she enjoyed a strange, but powerful connection to a supposedly legendary being from a distant land, one only achieved in slumber. Unfortunately, as time marched on and the two grew into stronger individuals, the link, in turn, began to grow weaker, eventually disappearing entirely. Of course though, nothing like that is truly lost forever. Now, with both fully grown and fighting on distant battlefields, the connection is reemerging when both need it most. With it, Rainbow Dash will soon learn of a dark conspiracy that will put her element to the test and the fate of everything in her hooves.
The changelings have always lived a hard, parasitical existence. They've been forced to appease others simply for food, and their Queen hasn't always shown them down the golden road.
With the annual United Neightions summit fast approaching, however, Chrysalis is determined to make a change in the world's opinion of them, and to make amends with herself. Unfortunately, a group of griffin religious fanatics backed by a sinister slave trading corporation may not make this easy. And with her old enemy, Twilight Sparkle, representing Equestria, the most powerful nation in the world, her task may yet be impossible.
With her home islands blockaded and the ability for her people to gather new food running low, Chrysalis' desperate quest to make peace is becoming all the more pressing. And how can she possibly manage to accomplish this when she barely believes it can be done herself?
With a few unexpected friends gained, and a bit of optimism she's long lost bound to return, Chrysalis is about to find out that the world isn't as dark as it seems, and that even someone like her can gain forgiveness. It all starts in Manehattan's breeze. And if it can be done there... it can be done anywhere.
The Nightmare Realm. An alternate dimension intermingled with the fibers of Equestria, inhabited solely by supernatural counterparts to those in the 'real' world. A land of horror and fright, those within it forever bonded to Nightmare Night. And now... wait- a land of reform?!
That's right! After Twilight's undead countpart's experience in Ponyville, change has forever come to the other side of the gates, it becoming dedicated to much more than just scaring. And one of the most profound happenings happens to be the reopening of the Bogmorts School of Synergy and Sorcery.
Now, how the heck would three fillies from the 'real' world ever end up being enrolled here? A place where ghouls and ghouls alone go to learn how to control their powers? Well, there'd be no way, really; unless a certain flightless bat's blood sucking past were to catch up with her, that is...
Will Scootaloo be able to learn to control her instincts and newfound powers, or will her heritage lead her to abandon her friends for a new life? And why is Horsehood, a shadowy government agency led by the mysterious Captain Jack Harness, so interested in her? Well, the answer to that may lie on both sides of the fence.
~~ The sequel to The Nightmare Before Nightmare Night.
Rainbow Dash and her father have always been close... yet distant, what with him being in the Wonderbolts, and her, of course, eventually following in his hoofsteps. And as with him, it will soon turn out that great ambition... comes with a great cost.
~ Based on a song by Harry Chaplin.

You, sir, are officially my new favorite writer.
Your work is fun and inventive and I look forward to all that you put forth.
I've read all of in Nightmare Before Nightmare Night, but it insists that there are two chapters I haven't read yet. Likewise, Scootaloo and the School of Ghouls insists I've got one unread chapter, despite having every chapter marked.
Do you have hidden chapters on these things, or is the site derping up? They seem to be permanently stuck to my dashboard unless I unfave them, and we can't have that, right?
What happen to challenge a star I went to look for but it's gone. What happen? I was looking good.
For some reason, it says To Challenge a Star does not exist. Why is that?
>>310527 Speaking only for myself, I've always thought the best comedies are the ones that are willing to play the straight parts straight. Just like the best dramas are the ones that aren't afraid to have a bit of comic relief. Pixar, Edgar Wright, and yes, the better works of Kevin Smith, all do that, as did Shakespeare, Charles Dickens, and George Bernard Shaw before them.
And though Lightening the Load's execution might have been somewhat meandering (although still better than you are giving yourself credit for), I really admired how you were willing to take a premise that most writers would just use as an excuse for references and in-jokes, and try to lend it some actual weight in between the jokes.

I suppose. With Lightening the Load I was dissatisfied with how poor of a job I was doing handling the concept, and I wasn't too satisfied with the concept itself ('Chrysalis throws a party for a bunch of interdimensional villains' seemed like a very silly thing to take seriously, mainly because the concept of a villain party at all is something that I could not see happening unless it were in a purely comedic setting, unless it were for villains like the Joker, of course.). Therefore, I opted to write something more enjoyable.
