Fun with Changelings is complete. I posted the final chapter last night. I don't regret anything about where I took it. It's not the story I set out to tell but only because it took on a life of its own and became a much better story. So now it's over and Wubsy sleeps. The comments trickle in but in a few days that will stop too. I'm more than satisfied with how this turned out. And going over it again I've discovered something.

I don't want it to end.

I set out to accomplish a single goal. To bring Wubsy to life. To give her a jumping off point and see if she had what it takes to flourish. But for that I need your help. Do me just one small favor. If you like Wubsy, help me give her life. Write stories about her and show me what you come up with. If you're not a writer make image memes and songs and art. If you're not artistic, post a blog about her or make recommendations to your friends. Wubsy is my baby and I want to see her grow.

Don't get me wrong. This isn't about me. If Fun with Changelings never gets another fave I'll be fine with that. It's already more popular than I could have ever dreamed it would be. This is about Wubsy. This is about wanting to see more of her, not just from my eyes but yours as well. I want to see what kind of crazy adventures and heart-wrenching moments you can take her on. I want to see her out there living her life.

And don't worry. This isn't the last my pen has seen of our dear changeling either. Vinyl and Octavia are my OTP so of course I'll be writing more about them. And I don't think I could forgive myself if I took another look into their world and didn't see my precious little Wubsy by their side.

So please, if you would humor me, help me make Wubsy grow. She thrives on love and I know you guys are up to feeding her.

FwC's final chapter is finished! I'm just marshaling my proofreaders to comb over my carefully laid-out prose and tell me everything I did wrong. Once they're done criticizing my work and I make sure it's up to their exacting standards it will be on the site for you to pick over as well. I expect several of you to think it sucks as you frequently do with my new chapters but I firmly believe the sweeping majority of you will be quite satisfied.

I've got a few twists and turns in there that so far nobody has predicted so that should be fun. Look forward to it!

Addendum: Second Life is a drug and I am thoroughly addicted. God I love that game.

Not really a hiatus. Just a sorta quiet period while I go hardcore on the finale. There's a lot going on in this chapter and I wanna make sure I hit all the points I need to. Expect it to take a while is what I'm saying I guess. You know I'm good for it.

In the mean time, have a happy Pinkie.

I've been building ideas for a story I hope to write in the distant future. One of those epic world-building stories you see from time to time that just drop your jaw. This is not the aforementioned ambition. One of the characters I've come up with is blind and that by necessity has had me thinking about blindness. About how I would feel and how I would experience my world if I were blind. One of the things I noticed first was how much I would miss writing.

Then I thought why should blindness stop me writing? There are braille keyboards, text-to-speech programs and I even read about a tactile mouse once. The stories would still be there when the ideas and concepts clump together in the snowglobe of my mind to reach critical mass. Why should not being able to see the screen stop me from weaving my narratives? I would find a way to tell my stories for I am at heart a storyteller.

This is my new ambition. I would like very much to read a story written by a blind writer. I would like to see how their perspectives on the world tinge their prose. I think their imaginations would be all the sharper for having to paint the world around them moment by moment. I think the difference in the cues they understand and pick up on would make a very interesting and compelling read.

This is why I would like to read something written by a blind writer.

..... Get it? Because they're ponies and humans? They go both ways?
