It's been brought to my attention that for some readers, the Fimfiction tracker didn't alert them to the story updating. For you guys, here is a link. Strange it's happened to myself as well on an number stories I have faved. Don't know why. Anyway, enjoy!

Now off to work on Chapter 5.

So had dinner and loaded up the old laptop and found this waiting for me:

    Oh ponyfeathers... Cue happy dance!

But seriously, now the pressure is on. I already thanked everyone who helped me with this story, and was told to stop doing it...

Too bad! I'm gonna do it again! With links! MUHAHAHA! (Okay so I am copy and pasting.)

I have a really long list of people to thank for helping me over the last couple of months, so here we go:

notMurphy: Author of the excellent A Minor Variation, one the best and original takes on an alternate Mane6 universe fics I’ve read. This guy turned what started as something mediocre (he denies this) and turned it into something readable. Not only did he take the time to offer really good suggestions, but he wrote a multipage critique. His constructive analysis resulted in a number of major rewrites; the end product being a much more coherent narrative. Bottom line, without NotMurphy, there wouldn’t be a story.

Karkadinn: Author of the uniquely brilliant Unnatural Selection(read it now!). I love this guy’s writing, so I asked for a little feedback. Guess what I got? A massively detailed critique. He held no punches, pointing out everything, good or bad, chapter by chapter. Many of the changes in flow resulted from his comments.

Georg: Author of numerous funny and interesting stories. A number of stylistic changes were the result of his feedback. Trust me, this guy knows good style.

Kendandra: Months ago I was reading a little story by the name of Static World. Everything was going along smoothly till I read the chapter titled “The Sun has Forsaken Thee!” The last scene seared itself into my brain, refusing to leave till I outlined Liberate the Sun. So if anyone hates my story, blame Kendandra (sorry buddy).

Letedwend: Proofreader/grammar nazi. I apologize, my friend. Without you, many missing words and grammatical errors would still be in existence. Many commas lost their lives to his vigilant eye.

ping111: Proofreader and person responsible for me having to rewrite the prologue for the SIXTH time! But seriously, he found a major flaw after I decided to rearrange the scenes within the prologue and it works much better.

Jake The Army Guy: Author of Luminous Sky and the creator of the intriguing Agent Bentgrass. Thanks for the motivation to keep going.

nygiants93: Author of far too many stories and all around great guy and the first one to give the story a fave!

Also, thanks to my little bro and others who didn't want to be named here.

    End copy and paste.

So this is me now: So much pressure. ARRRRRRGGH!

Now back to work on the next chapter!

So a great friend of mine adapted a plot bunny I had laying around, staring one my favorite under-appreciated background ponies. The giant, musclebound pegasus, Snowflake.

Its a unique combination of Snowflake and Scootaloo. See Scoot workout to the max to overcome her tiny wings. Cry at Snowflake's back story.

Finally, Liberate the Sun is ready to go. Anyone who wishes to preview the story while it’s in the queue, you can do so here:

    http://www.fimfiction.net/story/50680/liberate-the-sun

Summary: During an expedition to Castle of the Royal Pony Sisters, two ponies stumble upon the origin of the alicorns, the state of Equestrian governance before the Princesses' ascension and the truth behind their father's disappearance.

Blackmailed by Discord, Wallflower and Mayflower are forced to embark on a quest to free the Sun from Princess Celestia's control.

In response, Celestia sends Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash to stop Discord's plans at all costs.

If having Equestria's most powerful unicorn and fastest flyer in hot pursuit weren't enough, the siblings must contend with a rookie agent of the changeling hive out to prove her worth, an untrustworthy spirit of Chaos bent on his own amusement and their own strained relationship - all in a game of chess to liberate the sun.

So I came across this story it had me shaking with laughter.

Anyone remember Waldorf and Statler from the Muppet Show? The two old men who would heckle all the acts. Well here they are harassing Trixie. A simple premise.

The author captures the voices of those two cantankerous muppets perfectly. It makes the story.

Come for the writing, stay for the endless Waldorf and Statler jokes in the comments.

Since it seems the cool thing to do, I am going to recommend two fics which I feel are not getting enough love.

First up is Unnatural Selection by Karkadinn

A dark look at a universe where ponies are the apex predator. I was skeptical at first, but the story is really well written. The Mane 6 actually act in character except for the whole 'we are going to eat you because you are not a pony' thing.

Rainbow Dash and Pinkie are especially scary.  But it's Spike which makes the story. You will be rooting for the little guy the whole way and willing him to stick it to those pony bastards!

Here is the link : Unnatural Selection

Second is Sig Alert by Dan_s Comments

Now this story has some caveats. The description in terrible. and the grammar leaves a little to be desired. Still it is a good read, if only for the main character's deconstruction of Spike and Twilight's relationship and his argument with Discord. It's relatively short and a one shot so worth a go.

    Sig Alert

    -Cheers

    Viva Las Vegas! · 4:53am

So I am in Las Vegas, Yay!

But its on work assignment. Boo!

But I have most of Wednesday free. Yay!

Have to fly back on a red eye. Boo!

Have no idea what do, too much here! It's sensory overload! Boo!

I really don't think this is the city for me.

    I don't drink.

    I don't gamble.

I am not into skeevy stuff (strippers, etc)

I can't eat most of the food at the restaurants because of dietary constraints.

Meh, maybe take in a show or something.

What you do you think? Anyone out my way?

So being new to fanfiction I have a question for my fellow writers: How do you deal with stuff coming in season 3 that is going probably break fics you are working on?

Like it seems implied by one of the episode titles that Rainbow Dash will become a Wonderbolt.

And the first episode teasers shows Rainbow in some armor.

And the 8 minute preview hints at Twilight unlocking even more power. (Yes I gave in and watched it)

Maybe it's just my aversion to power creep and super powers in general, but I kind of like characters who can't magically overpower everything.

Still excited about watching, and I'll likely just have to revise some of my ideas about Equestria.

Just wanted to know how others deal with it.

I believe all writers could use an audience.

Looper, go see it. · 9:03pm

I saw Looper, over the weekend. Usually I wouldn't recommend a film, but it was excellent. Initially I thought the premise was dumb, but the story is very dark, and very thought provoking. Yes, there are some obvious plot holes, but hey are forgivable, given the story. The science fiction elements are very low key and don't act as Deus Ex Machina.

Both/same main characters are reprehensible but you like them anyway due to the excellent acting. I can't really say anything about the central conflict without spoiling the plot.

If you scifi, time travel, Bruce Willis, or just a good story, go see this film.
