I actually uploaded the prologue to my OC story today and I'm excited to see where I go with it. I really hope it turns out well. Anyway, I hope everypony is well.

Alrighty! I've learned some of the rules of FIMFiction, and I'll share them with you now:

1.) Don't Post Without Followers!-
Get about two dozen people to Watch you before you even attempt to post a story! The Popular Story bar and Featured Bar run off of Faves and upvotes, and your Watchers will always be the ones you rely on the most for this. You gain Watchers by being a good citizen of FIMFiction: contribute to group posts, comment on stories by providing constructive criticism and genuine praise, Watch authors you enjoy and make articulate posts in their blogs. Give people a reason to want to know you and your stories better! Give people a reason to invest their Pony time in you!

2.) Post Your Stories to Groups!
I was pig-headed at first and thought that posting my own stories to groups was like trying to sell my children on the street. It really isn't like that at all, though. Groups exist specifically to get works of pertinent interest in front of those who are interested in such content and narrative. There's no shame in letting people know you've done something that they might enjoy. I personally go through the new stories once a night and look for new Spike pics, and then I send them to the various Spike groups if they meet my approval. You can't count on there being people like me for every type of interest or group. You have, in short, produced a product... now you have to sell it.

3.) Find an Editor/Pre-Reader
This was a mistake that I've made over the course of my entire fan fiction writing career. Only now, here, in this fandom have I learned the importance of having "eyes on" my fic before I release it to the general public. You need a pre-reader and/or an editor. Fortunately, FIMFiction is full of such folks! If you click on this link, it will take you to a list of all the groups who have editors and proofreaders who can help you.

I hope that this message will stay with you as you begin your journey here on FIMFiction.
