200,000 words of BLAAAAGGGHH · 11:56pm
My Little Metro has finally breached the impossible barrier of 200,000 words. This is now my official, longest ever written thing. I am so proud of myself that I was even able to come back to it, but like a spiderbug sitting quietly in its cocoon, Metro has burst forth once again like a terrible, slimy, gross parody of a butterfly. And only 9,000 words in this latest chapter! I've gotten rusty. I must thank everyone and anyone who has remembered this story fondly, and I welcome all you readers who haven't delved into the darkness yet.
It's been a long time since the last update, and that has to do with a lot of factors: flagging interest, new story ideas demanding to be written, job worries, etc. But I will be happy to say that I have finished Last Light (both endings of course), and it reinvigorated my interest in the desperately claustrophobic atmosphere of the Metro. Don't worry, this is not just a fling. I am fully invested in Metro once again and plan to see it through, however much longer it takes. We are, after all, quite far along—there's no way this will turn into the next Fallout: Equestria sized novel. At least in chapter count.
I do think the earlier chapters will need some revising. They look and feel clunky to me, but God only knows when I'll get around to that.
Unfinished will be finished much faster than this story, so fans of that needn't worry.
Quixote should appear on EQD within the next few days. It just took them a while to get to pre-reading it.
And yes, I will eventually write a sequel to Metro now that I've finished Last Light. It will be every bit as hopeless and nasty as the first one, so keep your filters clean and your trigger fingers ready, fellow tunnel rats... Lockbox is back in the Metro.
