Is it going to focus on conflict (fighting, hiding from attacs, living under military law) or is it just a reason for the two to go into exile (living on the road, trying to build a new life) or maybe something else entirely?
I won't give too much away. But yes, the later parts of the story focuses on Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Twilight and Princess Luna making their escape onto the open road. We will see things in how the rebellion is affecting everything, but it's mostly focused on them. Kind of like how some movies that are either war-torn or under an alien invasion actually focuses on a family rather than the military.
How long have they been in Ponyville so far? It looks like it's been half a year, because you never mention snow on the ground before the halfway mark.
Chapter one is actually a flashback chapter, since the present time starts in chapter two. But so far, it's not quite specified, but by the end of the chapter, they've been in Ponyville for a few months or so. I'd say, maybe, six or seven months, give or take.
