Story formerly known as 'Twintel'.

Lightning Dust's life falls to shambles in the years after she got hit with a charge of reckless endangerment for her role in 'the Academy incident'.  With closed doors all around her, she is resigned to a fate of stringing together minimum-wage jobs for pretty much the rest of her life.

As she drinks her life away in a tavern one night, a mercenary group gives her an offer.  It's an offer she doesn't refuse.

A job offer.

At the time, she thought her job requirements were simple – kill the bad guys and move on.  Nasty, but the bad guys deserved it.

However, the Known World has a nasty habit of being a lot greyer than the black-and-white she's used to in Equestria.
