Princess Celestia and Princess Luna decide to retire, and become ordinary ponies, passing their power on to their successors. They post fliers In every town in equestria, advertising a contest to find the next Moon and Sun princesses.

Each of twilight's friends, as well as she, sign up for the contest without telling the others, and must compete with each other as well as everypony else in Equestria for the crown. Each of them is confident that they will win, causing a series of arguments. As if that wasn't enough, they have a serious threat to their power. her name is Sunny Daze. Her talent is changing the season to summer, which she assists the Princess Celestia with every year.

After the contest is over, and the new princesses have been chosen, they learn how hard it is to keep a kingdom under control, be an alicorn, and raise the sun and moon. Friendships are lost, enemies are made, and hearts are broken.

Meanwhile, Luna and Celestia enjoy their final lives as normal ponies, Celestia settling for a simple life alone, while Luna attempts to find a special somepony and start a family of her own.

This Story is based off another fan fiction, called Sun and Stars, by Sparkfyre. some details are changed, but sparkfyre wrote the story that motivated me to write my own story.
