Well, bootcamp was fun. I ended up switching from the Army to the Navy right before I swore in. Looks like I'm even going to be able to bring my laptop with me to A-school, but even then I'm going to be crazy busy.

And sorry about the epilogues. I got to 2,000 words before it got too close to my date, and I think it was better to spend my last days with my family and friends instead of on my computer typing away. It takes me a lot longer than most people to write.

As always, no promises of anything new. However, some people were asking about an alternate story line where Patrick decides to help the Nightmare or some such. Not going to spoil anything though...

But for this short time I'm home I'm going to just be riding my bike and maybe even getting a chapter of something out.

And you guys have probably been wondering what I look like for a good while now.

Hey guys!

So, if you haven't already noticed, Whiplash is coming to a close. It's been an awesome 7 months writing this, but every story has to end sometime. Like or hate it, I really appreciate everyone who took the time to read Whiplash!

I won't say how many chapters are left (Because I like trolling you guys with cliffhangers) but I've finished writing Whiplash. I will release each chapter a week apart from each other. As of this post, Chapter 18: The End: Part 2 is due to come out March 8th.

I've gotten a lot of questions about Whiplash, and myself, since I started writing it. I'd rather keep my identity hidden from the assorted internets, but I plan to answer all of them without revealing too much personal information in an afterword after the final chapter is posted.

Here's were you come in. I could write just a standard, normal afterword in text form.

Or...

I ride a motorcycle. (Whiplash is the retarded offspring of my love of motorcycles and ponies.) I also have a helmet cam that can pick up my speech. Would you guys rather have an afterword in the form of text, or a 1-2 minute helmetcam video afterword? I live in a big city, so riding through all the downtown connectors is always interesting.

I can't really guarantee I'll be hauling ass or pulling wheelies, as I have too many tickets atm :/

But if enough people are interested, I'll record a short helmetcam video afterword and post a link to it at the end of the story. If not, I'll just type one up.

I'm not going to officially put Whiplash on hiatus, but I think I at least owe an explanation for why Whiplash hasn't been updated.

I was in a motorcycle accident. Ironic, I know. I lost some skin, but I'm fine. I'm just not mentally able to write at the moment because of this, and I've been spending all my time getting my bike fixed and keeping up with life. Whiplash has been taking up more and more of my time, not that it's a problem, it's just that juggling school, work, life, and ponies can get pretty overwhelming.

Until I get this whole "accident" thing sorted out, there will not be any progress on the eleventh chapter. I apologize, but while Whiplash is on unofficial "hiatus," you should spend some time reading the other great stories on this site, there's quite a few good authors here.

This story will undoubtedly continue in December. Thanks for your patience.

To my faithful watchers and trackers: I thank you for keeping up with Whiplash. I started writing this story back in late August, when I was only uploading it to deviantART and Fanfiction. It received a good amount of views and comments on both sites and continues to do so. I found FimFiction after the story was in its 7th chapter and began uploading it here. I'm simply overwhelmed with the response this story has received, generating 5,000+ views in the mere two weeks its been uploaded here. I've had a lot of fun writing this story. Your comments, views, and ratings make it all the more worthwhile.

(Warning: If you have not read Whiplash to the end, the rest of this blog post contains spoilers in later chapters. For those that have not read the entire story, or tl;dr's: Whiplash is currently being revised.)

Grif from ponychan's /fic/ is currently assisting me with editing this story en masse to improve the grammar, style, POV issues, and general editing here and there. There are quite a few [HiE] stories out there, but I'm trying to make mine stand out, without turning my biker/Afghanistan veteran into a gary stu. (Some would argue just those two things alone make him one.)

Some plot holes need to be filled in, and several key events are needed to be revised. I'm currently in the process of these major revisions. When I'm finished, some chapters may need to be re-read. I'll be releasing a "revision summary" that will list what has changed chapter by chapter for those who don't wish to re-read 39k words of pony goodness. The decision will be completely yours to go back and re-read the edits and revisions, though would strongly suggest it. I estimate that the edited version of Whiplash will be up in 1 week or less.

Chapter 9 will not be released until this major revision is finished. What I can reveal about this revision, without spoiling anything, is that:

-The fight scene in chapter 5 will be revised. Patrick was already injured when he got into the fight, it doesn't really make sense to beat up a stallion while injured.

-Dates and other details in flashbacks, documents, etc. may be changed to make them consistent with the revisions.

-Some important information about the plot, mainly about the extinction of humanity, may be removed all together.

-The pseudo-science of the war you read about in the NY Times article will be revised. I'd like to point out that I've received some concerned comments that somepony may get offended about "Islam's holy war." I cannot guarantee if this will be changed or not, but I'm looking into it.

-Flashbacks may be revised, the order they are presented in may change.

-A lot of Celestia/Luna scenes are going to be revised, as well as Celestia's plan and how she carries it out to make more sense.

Needless to say, I've got some work to do. However, I am in need of pre-readers for the revisions I've made so far and for the ones that will be coming soon. If that's something you'd be interested in, drop me a comment or PM!
