When it feels like you have no one you can count on, you'll turn anywhere for that little pick me up. Sometimes though, it can be a bad habit to have, and even harder to break when it gets you in deep. Growing up can be tough, especially when you feel like no one really understands you. Scootaloo learns the hard way in a tale of friendship, family and coming of age.

Update 10/17/12: Fixed many errors, and reworded things to help make the story sound less "mechanical" also added an epilogue.

Winter is approaching in Ponyville, and all Rarity wants to do is work on her new winter garments, enjoy the holiday festivities and maybe even catch a chance alone with the pegasus she cares for most. That was before that day in early December when everything in Ponyville changed. Now it's a question of who a pony can trust, and who they can't.

She's clever, musically gifted, and the most talented DJ in all of Equestria. She's Vinyl Scratch and she had it all, anything and everything she's ever wanted. That may be just the problem though: life is boring. With a constant desire for excitement Vinyl finds herself no longer amused with her day-to-day life. That all changes however when she meets a mysterious creature.

Magic works in strange ways, and seems to manifest in every pony differently. It's always about how one uses their gifts that magic has given them that matters. Sweetie Belle has learned one thing for certain in the past few years, and that is some gifts can quickly turn into a curse.
