Just in case notifications are still wonky. I know I've occasionally not seen a comment reply or post show up in my feed.

Thanks to Merlos the Mad for pre-reading and suggesting I expand a bit on Cinnamon's trip to the warehouse district, as it was a little dry and boring.

Also, I'm trying to get back into a regular writing schedule so, though I can't promise anything, I'm hoping my updates for all my stories will start happening a lot faster now

    Thanks for reading!

New chapter is up, hope you all enjoy!

Sorry for the delay on this one. I have no real excuse. BrillianPoint was right on top of the editing, but I was taking my time on writing and correcting. So, blame me, not him!

I'm thinking I may do an occasional "Pony Movie Night" side story, going into more detail on the movies that the ponies watch and into more detailed reactions.

    Anyway, hope you enjoy it!

For those who like the adventures of the stallion-turned-adorable-filly who is Cinnamon Swirl, Merlos the Mad has just submitted a fan-fanfiction (is that a thing?) of School of Hard Knocks called: School of Hard Knocks Fan-Fanfiction.

I think he did a pretty good job of catching Cinnamon's personality and situation, and I enjoyed reading it. I hope you do, too!

Here's a blog post, in case anyone is still missing the new story notifications.

Dinner with friends is up! I hope you all enjoy.

Working now on wrapping up part 3, Pony Movie Night, and getting started on the next chapters of CMAA and School of Hard Knocks.

    Hope you all enjoy!

I'm pretty happy about this! I think he did a great job:

    The Keepers of Discord

I know that there are others that have done audio works of my stories. Sometimes they tell me about it, sometimes I stumble across it, but I'm always amazed and humbled when anyone takes the time to do something like this, using my silly stories.

It's honestly never occurred to me before that I should share these things with you guys when I encounter them. I'm going to start doing that now, so you may see some new blog posts from me as I find or rediscover them!

Also, if you know of anything like this out there, please let me know, so I can make a blog post about it

I just updated each of these, just in case you're not getting notifications still.

Next chapter of Sunflower Side Projects is still being worked on. It's going a bit slowly, but I'm hoping to get it back to my editor in a couple of days. Sorry for the delay on that one!

    Story updates · 2:51am

So, since new chapter updates have apparently been a little wonky recently, I thought I'd drop a blog post to mention that I've updated two stories:

    Cutie Mark Allocation Agency

    School of Hard Knocks

For the next chapter of Sunflower: Side Projects, I'm following my editor's advice to re-write a big chunk of the beginning of it (he was right, it needed work) so I'm not sure how much longer that will be. Also, thanks to massive amounts of overtime at work, my writing schedule has been shot to pieces, so I apologize for the lengthy delays on updates.

    Thanks, as always, for reading!

Here, have a picture of a confused Twilight Sparkle as a buffer before the spoiler-filled episode discussion below

Wow. Not sure what else to say, just wow.

Considering that this was three episodes in one, they did a pretty good job. I don't doubt that they were under pressure to get a marketable Twilight Sparkle alicorn ready by the end of the season, thus the rush to get through to the coronation. But the cutie mark mixup part would have been one really good episode by itself. Twilight fixing Starswirl's spell and becoming an alicorn, a good second. Twilight's reaction and the coronation the third. Twilight trying to figure out how to fly and crashing into things constantly as an optional fourth episode.

It was rushed. Of course it was. That was a hell of a lot of story to squeeze into a standard episode. But, in my opinion, every moment was amazing. Lots of songs, naturally... they could have used a few less, but songs make for good montage material, and there was no way to pack all this story in without a montage or four. The first part, the mixed up cutie marks and such, was really awesome, and also vaguely horrifying in lots of little ways... Equestrian residents seem prone to getting mind-screwed on a regular basis. Also, Dash in a pot with lots of little animals with forks and knives?! Yeek! But the resolution of that first part gave me the warm-and-fuzzies, so I'm not going to worry too much about that.

As for the rest... So, apparently, Starswirl was researching a spell to make regular ponies, or maybe just unicorns, into alicorns. Would that spell work on others, with the requisite magical strength? Might explain why it was called the "alicorn amulet" that Trixie was wearing. Still have no idea where Cadence came from, or if there are other Princesses or Princes out there... maybe we'll find out more next season. But I don't think that Cadence was a result of this same spell. Celestia's dialogue seemed to indicate that nopony had ever successfully cast it before.

Too many unanswered questions to list right now. Is Twilight staying in Ponyville? How will the population react to her? Is she going to have new royal duties? Did she get a power-up, or just wings? That, and a few dozen other questions that I keep thinking of will hopefully start being answered next season.

Now for my reaction as a fanfic writer... I may write Princess Twilight stories in the future, or I may choose unicorn Twilight. Depends on the story, I suppose. But I'll probably leave Princess Twilight alone until I see how things go next season. I feel a little bad for anyone who's written an "Ascended Twilight" fic, now that it's been done in canon, but this is the risk we writers take when working with someone else's world.

As for how this is going to impact the future of Sunflower, the answer currently is "not at all". I think I'll just quietly ignore Princess Twilight for now, at least until/unless I figure out a way to work all that in. Until then, it's just going to have to be an alternate continuity.

Now to talk as a fan, and not a writer... I always knew Twilight was special! You go, girl! But I'm surprised, because when I heard about this, I was thinking that they'd have "alicorn mode" Twilight be some sort of power up that she could do when the situation demanded it, and she'd poof back to being regular old unicorn Twilight at the end of the episode. Instead, they went with full-time alicorn Twilight. Risky. Audacious. Brave and reckless. And sure to piss off a lot of fans. Not me, though. I still loves ya, Twi!

    Hey, all!

First, I wanted to mention something that I think is pretty cool. These are the kinds of crazy-in-a-wonderful-way things that this fandom seems to pull out from time to time. Bad Horse has a recent blog post, where he talks about what amounts to a pony fanfiction scholarship to a writer's workshop. If you've got the interest in attending something like that, or if you've got some money you desperately want to rid yourselves of, it's probably worth a read.

Second, I have to apologize about my recent lack of updates. A combination of minor home life drama, a really bad cold, and the worst writer's block I've had in a looooong time have all conspired to keep my keyboard quiet. I seem to be past at least two of the three now (home life drama never really stops :rainbowlaugh:) as I've been typing away for the last couple of days, so, yay!

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go back and help Erin finish her dinner in Ponyville

    Hi all!

I just submitted the first two chapters of my latest story, School of Hard Knocks. I'm not sure how the queue is looking these days, but hopefully it will be through moderation soon.

    Other story updates:

Erin the Human (Sunflower: Side Project story) is halfway done. It's going to be a two-parter at least, and I'm going to ask someone to edit it for me before it goes up. No current ETA on that one, but I shouldn't think it would be longer than a week or two. I plan to release those both at the same time.

Cutie Mark Allocation Agency: Next couple of chapters are drafted out and should be out in the next week or two.

    Thanks, everyone!
