    Hi everypony!

I'm posting the edited chapters 2 and 3 back up again, just so that Part 1 of the story is completely published.  Chapter 4 is about halfway done, and should be ready for editing by the end of the week, as long as holiday crap doesn't get in the way.

For those of you who already read Chapters 2 and 3 way-back-when, I'm afraid to say that not much has changed.  Chapter 2's intro scene with Cold Type and Evening Edition has been completely rewritten, but everything after that, all the way to the end of Paradigm's speech, has been edited only for grammar and continuity with the newish first chapter.  Don't fret though, as I've said, Chapter 4 is almost ready to go.  Everypony who is enjoying TCE can rejoice in the fact that the story has picked back up its original momentum, and is on the path to being finished.  Thanks for being patient with me!  I'm definitely back on the horse these days, so to speak.

    Have a great day!

The revised Chapter 1 is up, and the rest should be following at a steady pace-- or at least a steadier pace than the last six months.  To my readers, I'd like to apologize for having to step away from the project for so long.  Life biz and all, you know.  At any rate, I decided that the story was suffering from too much emphasis on the humans and not enough of a balanced storyline between the human and pony sides.  To this end, I included a brand-new Twilight Sparkle-centric introduction, and cut down a lot of the cutesy relationship stuff.  Don't worry, August/DJ types of sociological exploration will still be a big part of TCE, but starting the story with it seemed like a bit of a clumsy move, so I'm going to bring it in once the more serious plot elements are already rolling.

I'm hard at work on the final chapters of Pinkie and the Spy.  I can't give a date on that quite yet, but suffice to say we're getting close.  After P&S is over, you can expect to see the first chapters of a true sequel to Daylight Burning.

Thanks everypony!  Good to see all of you again.  Have a great day!

Chrome was apparently reading a wallpaper website as an attack website, so anyone who got stopped at Chapter 8 should know that I've taken the pic out of the story.  It was never actually an attack site, just mislabeled by Chrome.  However, the chapter should world just fine now.  Links to all chapters have been confirmed (including 9 and 10) and are working for me and my team.  If you are having ANY problems accessing Daylight Burning, please reply or PM.  Thanks and have a great day!

After eight months in production, Daylight Burning is complete.  Please enjoy the story, and leave a comment if you'd like.  A huge thank-you goes out to all the fans of this story, because you and your continuing encouragement are the reasons that DB ever got finished.  This monstrosity took hundreds of hours, dozens of cups of coffee, and reams of paper for flow-charts and character profiles, not to mention the valuable time of my editing squad.  Thank you, everypony.  This was always your project, too.

Chapter 3: Tipping Point is the last third of the first half of this story.  I also spent a few days remastering Chapter 1, since my impression of the characters had changed so much since I'd written it.  One example is that I originally conceived August as being a follower, but by the end of Chapter 3, I realized that she was going to be the leader, and that Eve was going to play the role of the new girl.  I also made the President a little more Presidential, the August/DJ relationship a little less cutesy, fleshed out the political intrigue, and so on, and so forth.

I guuueesssss I'll finish DB now.  Sheesh.

Once upon a time there were two human men living on an alien world.  One day they had lunch together.  The first started telling the second about his new girlfriend, and how much fun she was, and what a funny and cool person she was, and how much he loved her, and what great sex they had, too, by the way.  So the second friend inquired about her name.  The first replied with an alien word.  The second friend was horrified.  "She's a bayhtakc?" he exclaimed.  "They're like... giant white lampreys!  Their faces are like horrible, toothed suction-cups!"  And the first friend said, "You don't understand.  She made it beautiful.  She made it beautiful."

Let's talk about August and DJ.

One of my editors was reading Chapter 2 of The Canterlot Embassy yesterday, and midway he texted me: "Thank God for the Secret Service."  Anyone who's read the story knows just what scene he's talking about.  There's nothing graphic, and I intend the sexuality included in TCE to stay just that: "sexuality," rather than graduate to "sex."  Yet many readers are still bothered by the fact that two of the main characters are in a long-term relationship, and while one is a human female, the other happens to be a male Pony.  August and DJ love and care for each other.  They've been through a lot together.  So why is it gross when they kiss?

Please leave your thoughts below on interspecies romance in MLP and other science-fiction and fantasy.  How did you feel when you first realized that this subject was going to be seriously explored in The Canterlot Embassy?  Were your repulsed or intrigued?  Would it be different if it was a male human and a female Pony?  I'd love to know what you think.

I changed the name, since I figured "The Girl Who Went to Canterlot" was too indicative of a typical HiE self-insert, which I certainly hope it is NOT.

Thanks again to my editors, and to my audience as well.  :raritywink:

    Party soft, everypony!

Daylight Burning is coming to a close very soon, and in preparation for my next project, I've been throwing some time into a handful of other things this week.  One of them is finally finishing Paw Prints, and working on an outline for the second Crusader Teen Mystery novella.  The other project is an experiment in political intrigue at the US Embassy in Canterlot.  It falls into the "serious" HiE category, although it's certainly not about bald-faced wish-fulfillment, so much as it's about exploring the actualities of interspecies relationships, set against a backdrop of growing political tension between Equestria and the various factions of Earth.

I hope you are all having a great day.  Stay literate, my bronies!

Hot off the metaphorical presses and straight into your metaphorical hands, here are Chapters 11 and 12 of Daylight Burning.  Sorry again for the unfortunate and giant spoiler I accidentally published... yesterday?  The day before yesterday?  Wow, I really need to sleep.

    Enjoy the white-knuckles!

They really do put those buttons close to each other.

Sorry for the false alarm!  Chapter 12 is not done, of course.  If you've read it, you know that it was just a half-finished leak.  I've got the last two chapters almost done, but you're going to have to wait to see the final product.

    Ciao!
