Here's a snippet from a working document I've had lying around since QC start. Obviously I removed some things from this that might be considered spoilers. As such, there probably isn't a lot here that's NEW, but some of you might find it interesting.
Name: Marshall James Bailey
Age: 30 (pre-island), 35 (time of story start)
Born: September 2nd 1982, Louisville Kentucky
Occupation: Lieutenant Commander, United States Navy – Naval Aviator
Education: Graduate Du Pont Manual High School, OCS and Flight School, AS Electrical Engineering, BS Aeronautical Engineering minoring in History
Hobbies: Mountain Climbing, Hiking, Sky Diving, Reading (fiction), Flying recreational fixed wing aircraft
Marshall James Bailey is the eldest of the two Bailey children born of Alize Dietrich-Bailey, and William Elton Bailey. He has younger sister named Hope Samantha Bailey, who goes by the nickname "Sam". Marshall is of Irish and German descent, and quite proud of the fact. He is 5'10" and 167 lbs at story start... the island has pared him down to whipcord muscle and bone. Marshall has dark brown hair and light blue eyes, which in the right light can be mistaken for grey. He is very fond of hats.
Marshall has spent several years overseas, and reacquainted himself with his mother's german relatives while serving overseas in Germany. This and highschool studies make him a fluent german speaker. Marshall's mother and father were practicing Catholics <section redacted>, as a result, Marshall himself is nonreligious, although he would not use the term atheist to describe himself, he is definitely NOT a practicing Catholic.
His accent is not terribly pronounced, even though he grew up in Kentucky, although it tends to come out a bit more heavily when he is tired, angry, upset, or oddly enough, when he feels comfortable enough around his current company to loosen up.
<information relevant to future plot developments redacted here>
Marshall has no formal combat training, other than OCS drill and SERE, although growing up in Kentucky and his circle of friends during highschool means he is quite proficient with both rifle and pistol, and has some experience in hunting and driving offroad. Likewise, he is, in his own words, "just good enough at wrestling to know I'm not nearly THAT good". Time on the island will, of course, change this.
Marshall is very fond of dogs, but thinks cats are "assholes". He has owned a string of dogs since adolescence, mostly German Shepards or Shepard mixes. Marshall is an avid science fiction reader, and is particularly fond of Star Trek. He is somewhat dismissive of Star Wars. <authors note: Which is funny, considering what I have planned>
<section redacted>
Looking at this, it occurs to me that this is a bit of a tease, but oh well. In other news, working on the next chapter. Not sure how long it's going to be yet. If I were pressed, I'd say I'm about half done.
Edit: On a sidenote, I would like to point out that Marshall's last name and home state came from this:
In fact, if Danny Bailey were a real person, the Bailey family are direct relatives. So Marshall comes from a long line of crooks and rumrunners.

I'm sure he is working on it. And it's not as if last updates had been 8 months ago.
I'm almost positive you get this all the time but...you are still continuing QC right? i mean i fell in love with this story and i would have to see it go
>>458949 Hmm. Writer funk, really. I have plenty of ideas, but I can't seem to work up the motivation to write them. So I'm easily distracted. I'm working on it.
Hey, brother. Been a while since you had any activity. Everything copacetic?
As this is my favorite story on this site, I am looking forward to the next chapter.
Should you have decided to stop writing I can only thank you for the quality reading provided thus far and hope you let us know if you should decide to write again.
Jesus...I faved your story long ago, but I just realized I completely forgot to follow you. The hell is wrong with me?
I've been putting off reading the last chapter for some while, mainly because I've been trying to set up a major portion of the story that takes place in a desert. I am not really good at survival horror type stuff, which I definitely get when I read the story (not at first, but later on). I really can't wait until I finish setting portion up so I can dive into the story once again (re-read from the beginning!). So, out of curiosity, do you have any tips on how to write survival/horror. You really do an excellent job at it! (Yes, I will totally be taking notes when I read it again!)

Speaking of which: How is the new chapter progressing?
( I really don't want to be rude, but i'm looking forward to the chapter releases of this story more than all the other stories I'm following put together. That's a lot, I'll have you know).

All good things come to an end, my friend... but at the rate I'm writing, I doubt you'll have to worry for a while.
>>373915 Quantum Castaways end?! For the love of god DustTraveller - tell me that won't be happening any time soon!
