It is said that the sandwich was invented by a man who wanted to have his dinner, but not have to stop playing cards. Whether this is true or not is up for debate, however it is likely that nobody really cares.
Walking into the kitchen, Kiako Lalene looked around for the refrigerator and, upon finding it, went over to it. He didn't really expect the large rectangular container to be connected to a power source, but to his surprise he could feel a coolness in the air wafting over him as he opened the refrigerator door. Another - albeit welcome - surprise was that within the confines of the storage unit there just happened to be a few food and condiment items, perhaps left behind by the previous tenant.
Kiako Lalene was never a man to waste a good - or even a bad - thing if it would benefit him. Taking a few moments to pull out the edibles, he considered what type of sandwich he could make with what was available to him. Looking over the assortment he could see that there appeared to be a container holding several strips of pale meat, possibly chicken, and another container holding what appeared to be lettuce. Add in the fact that he had whole loaf of bread to work with, a somewhat well equipped kitchen, and a slight hunger, it seemed reasonable that he would be able to make a sandwich.
Rifling through one of the drawers in search of a bread knife, he was about to start cutting slices of bread off the end of the loaf when he felt something hard poking into the back of his skull.
"I'd suggest you don't move, and keep that hand in the drawer," a smooth, feminine voice said from behind him. Whoever the voice belonged to, it wasn't someone he was familiar with. "Tell me," the voice continued, "why are you in my room?"
Her room? I'm the one who paid for it! Kiako's mind screamed, his jaw tightening in mild frustration at the sudden turn of events. He was about to open his mouth to speak when he was interrupted.
"Oh. You're a glitterneck. Doesn't matter then."
Doesn't matter? What is that supposed- were the last thoughts running through the man's mind before everything exploded into blackness.
