I don't know if this is the kind of thing you'd hate to hear from an author or not, but I'll vibe with it; even if my story gets swept under the metaphorical rug for the next chapter of 'Mary Sue/Stu bangs their way through The Mane 6/Ponyville and saves the day' I'm just a happy camper knowing that I've got a fan like you; someone (or should I say 'some pony ' who understands/appreciates the audience I'm trying to capture)

It might not mean that much to you, but taking the 20-30 minutes out of your day to read/appreciate and rate accordingly my story means the the world to me.

I have a tendency to search out and favorite stories with m/m pairings, and then watch the authors if their writing catches my attention. The world could use a lot more gay pony stories, as it turns out.
