Just the Tip: How to create likeable characters good and bad
So a problem that often plagues new reader's fiction is improperly developed characters. You cant tell a story without having a character that the reader wants to partake in an adventure with. How do you make them likeable? Here are a few tips that might be helpful
1. The characters themselves are what drives people to read a story, if the main character(s) doesn't interest the reader then there is no reason for them to read on. If you give them a believable drive to succeed using emotions and events that people can relate to, it gives them a feeling of attachment and a desire to continue. A well constructed villain is someone you love to hate, someone like Handsome Jack who gave you reason to hate him. A bad constructed villain is someone like Somber, he had no reason to be evil, or at least one we didn't notice, and therefore we had no desire to see what happens to them. A good emotion to use is Jealousy with a villain because we all feel that and it can lead us to do some things we will later regret. A small list of emotions to use that can create a good antagonist are:
Jealousy: (examples are Hades from the disney movie, Turbo from Wreck it Ralph, Loki)
Competition (Jet the hawk, Zero from Megaman X, Gary Fucking Oak)
Veangance: I can't really bring any antagonists off the top of my head but this is a really effective emotion because what drives them is probably an act of love which is associated with protagonists yet executes this act of vengeance in an improper way. Readers will realize or understand that the antagonist is trying to do the right thing and is therefore not a villain at all, just someone confused but with their heart in the right place.
Promise: A character who makes a promise to someone can create a good believable story if done properly and when the right ingredients are used. I might just make another Just The Tip for this specific emotion because it has many variables itself that should be explored.
Delusion: A character who will see nothing but what he deems the truth can lead to readers questioning why he has become this, and when executed right can lead them to wanting to see a change in them in the end. Delusion is something like most villains like Megatron who wants a world he can control himself.
These emotions above are good, the following ones are what not to use:
Rage: Simple hate for something is to be avoided, people will ask why the fuck he's so angry over something unless it was huge (like his entire family being killed). Even if it can be properly justified, it should be avoided because it has been done enough to become stale.
A simple desire to be evil: We already have the Joker, we don't need another one okay?
Here are a few good emotions to use with a protagonist, a character that we are told to be associating with. If we feel what they feel, then you have yourself set up for good scenes.
1. Fear: Fear is a good drive for a character to progress through a story because of either an actual enemy or an idea that they cannot shake. Like a character that wants to stop growing up because they fear the life and the responsibilities of an adult is something we have all thought of at one point. We have all at least once in our childhoods said that we would like to be a kid forever, so seeing this in a story is something refreshing and enjoyable.
2. A promise: This was explained enough with the antagonist and can be applied to protagonists with the right methods. Instead of doing something evil to keep the promise of someone, have them go on an adventure for someone that they made a promise to (like in UP).
3. Love for someone: This can't be done as easily as other emotions but is a strong one in certain situations. If its retrieving a child that has been kidnapped (like in finding Nemo) or a person that shares a strong bond with the protagonist, readers will either stretch their disbelief a little or agree completely. If its for something like your pet goldfish then you are going quite far, going to hell and back, just to save a $20 pet.
Thats all that I can give you for now, but Ill soon have more of these up to give more tips on other aspects of writing.

Okay so I'm moving out to college in september and guess what that means?
Less Fanfiction! D:
BUT, that doesn't mean you won't be hearing from me any more, in fact you'll be hearing something from me pretty soon.
Within the coming months, I will be working on Anthro as well as working on kicking off my music career as a dubstep musician.
"Oh dubstep? the fandom has never had an artist like that before!"
Wanna know what's different about my dubstep?
All the sounds will be made with my mouth and voice.
That's right, I'll be doing solo acapella dubstep of either a song by Alex S or Living Tombstone.
By september I will have made my first FREE album of five songs minimum, my stage name either being DJ Nipple Rock, DJ Blare Beats, DJ Red Shift (cause my partner can be blue shift... get it? astronomical names FTW) or DJ DC.
Ill be presenting my Album cover, Filthy Fucking Wubs, very soon.
I put words on a white rectangle, worship me!

Unknown Creature Desctiption: The creature stood at 5 feet tall and 8 inches. It had little fur to keep itself warm but otherwise showed much resemblance to a primate. Creature lacks ability to communicate verbally but shows understanding of imagery, no prior data has been recorded for this creature and thus must be studied with extreme caution in controlled environments. Studying of this creature is currently underway by Lyra under Blueblood's team.
