1682577 Already sounds like it has promise, my up front advice is to make sure you know what you're writing about. If you write about something you aren't very educated in you run the risk of sounding (for lack of a better word) like an idiot. If you don't know much about drug addiction don't write about it. Writing a story where you can't connect with the characters personally is a story that won't have the same love in it that's needed. At the same time, don't force it, it's important to connect with and become each of the characters, that's something I found while writing my book, "Trials And Tribulations". In order to make any progress I'd often "get into character" and act the part out, more like I was auditioning for a movie, this put me in their shoes and helped me write it out and stay true to the characters. One last piece, "write and run by" Every time I finished a chapter in my book I'd have my fiancee read it, why? To get an outside opinion of course. You might think you've written a masterpiece, but having someone else that can judge it fairly and provide suggestions and feedback will make a much better story.

Get into Character and Act it Out
Don't Force it

and most importantly, Have fun with it.
