Alright guys!
It's about time I updated you on what's going on!
So, I'm still not quite done at school - I'm currently on study leave while I wait for the final exams, which are going well.
Now as the title says, The Atomic Series is going under rewrite as soon as I have time, which will be very soon, reason being is I've been thinking about this for a while and there are a few things I need to change, which I will now point out in a nice little list:
1- Relationships and ship happened WAY too fast. Even for some of the more timid OCs this happened and I plan to make it work properly this time.
2- Some OCs strayed from the character their owner had pitched to me. e.g. - I made Rhino rather a lot more aggressive and forward than he had been portrayed as.
3- Guns. This was a really stupid mistake of my uneducated mind at the time. It was during the Quizmaster chapters I wanted to find a way he could threaten the group, became very eager to post the chapter and thought it would be a good choice. Yea- no. That's outta here. Sappy- We'll need to talk on adapting your OC to this change.
4- Fix the Marepocalypse chapters. When I wrote this, again I was very eager to post. The first chapter went well enough IMO, but the second chapter was tiny, rushed and ended the mini-arc too fast.
5- The reason Atom didn't kill Glare. Yeah, this was a weird thing in my head. At the time of writing I couldn't think of a good enough reason except from the cheesy "We need compassion!" cliché which rather conflicts with the story's overall theme.
6- Zephyr Tempest and the demon need work. These were plot more immediate plot devices. Zephyr might be omitted, but the demon will not. I have plans for that. I'm not saying it does contribute to the main arc of NWotH and I'm not saying he does, but he's going to come in handy.
7- New ideas. A lot of new ideas that have come up lately I've really liked and thought I could do something with, the main problem is that I'm not sure how or when to slot them into the current story.
8- On-the-fly plot. Back when I wrote MWtW, I never actually had a defined plot line. I had a vague idea of what I wanted to do and what was going to go in between, but a lot of things were written on the spot, and it was mainly luck and quick thinking that saved it from going too off the rails.
9- The Element of Determination. Now, this another one where I immediately say- "What the hell was I thinking?" or "I thought this was a good idea?" The idea of another Element of Harmony is so overused and MUST GO. Atom's mother's phrase of him being the Element of Determination will only remain as a metaphor from now on.
Anyway, so those are the big changes that I can recall I'm doing to the stories. They are still going under the titles already submitted, as the rules for submission don't allow for rewrites to be posted as another story.
I'd also appreciate it if when the stories are back up and running I could get a bit of signal boosting. I know that's a bit of a selfish thing to ask, but I'd be elated if you could.
