I'm just a guy who writes stories about ponies.

Don't worry if you don't get the story titles, or all the pictures of the trees. It doesn't mean much.

It's always the trees everyone notices, never the titles of the stories...

So many trees...

I'm scared.

Well, thanks. I really like that passage ("There is shadow under this red rock...") - makes me think of something that most creative people can grok, welcoming some outsider into your world and showing them something they've never seen in quite that way before. Not sure if that's the intended meaning, but I'm not sure anyone knows the intended meaning of The Waste Land, so.

Just stumbled in from enjoying your 'Good Ship' story to see if anyone had noted The Wasteland reference there and I see it's actually the first comment listed here :derpytongue2: One of my favorite poems and I just had top drop by and state that the reference was awesome.:yay:

Finding the exact perfect non-abstract picture to use as a cover can take as long (or longer!) as actually writing the story can, and I'm no artist, so making my own is off the table. Using something that's only tangentially related helps to give an overall impression of the story, rather than any one scene or theme - I do the same thing with story titles.

And if you're going to use mostly-unrelated pictures, might as well put a theme to them. Lots of pictures of trees on the Internets.

I love the covers of your stories. They're never the run-of-the-mill pony picture that fits the theme of the story. A bit abstract, I might say (even though they're trees):pinkiehappy:

Thanks! It's nice to hear that from people.

It's just very easy to find pictures of trees on the Internet that come in a wide variety of emotions. People seem to like to take artistic pictures of trees - I'm just a thief who doesn't want to spend too much time looking for that perfect picture.

As someone who took the time (unprompted, may I add) to write a long review of something, you are automatically a really cool person in my eyes. And it was a good review, so that was a nice bonus.

From the covers of your stories I can tell that you are a fan of trees. :twilightsheepish:

It's really hard to do non-shameless self-promotion, so have some of the shameless kind instead.

(If you're not into that, here's a neat song to listen to. Yes, that's a hint.)

I've been writing about things other than ponies during my writing break; about films, to be precise. My goal is to watch all the films in IMDb's Top 250 films and give my thoughts on them, along with anything I happen to see over the year or so that's going to take me. I'm about fifty in right now. If you dig films, maybe check it out?

Do You Love An Apple?

Snow. Everywhere there is snow. It lies in neat layers on roofs, in intricate crystalline networks in the branches of the bare trees, in hard-packed pathways underhoof. No clouds are in the sky to trap any of the sun's heat; light scatters off the snow in an infinity of golden glittery flecks and dances away back into the sky. The air is still, the main street of Ponyville quiet on this Tuesday midmorning. The ponies outside go about their business quickly, bundled in scarves and woolen hats and winter saddles and covered boots. Twilight Sparkle is one of these few.
