It was dark and miserable, but at the same time was it beautiful and majestic. On the outside of the buildings, massive and small, was a slight explosion of lights and waves. Ponies would watch in awe from their windows, and fillies would clap their hooves in favor of the beautiful art work. Although the waves could have done harm to those outside and weren't performing the same magic, it seemed like nopony would have cared because of the beauty that splashed down. The Great and Powerful Trixie's magic is the most beautiful work in all of Equestria, isn't it! A small, periwinkle pony thought soothingly. She laughed happily and lifted her head high, batting her eyes and then raising her two front legs to reach the sky. Her horn brightly flashing. Once a few minutes had gone by, her magic still flooding the skies with joy and rain with colors, she had started to rest. Her horn stopped glowing and her purple hat fell into her face. Letting out a sharp sigh, she levitated the hat off her head and looked over towards the library of Ponyville. A lavender unicorn sat there with an awkward smile and waved her hoof, signaling for Trixie to come in. Nodding her head, the periwinkle unicorn trotted evenly towards the book filled home. She opened the door with her magic and walked in calmly, her head lowering and dripping the rain drops from her head. "Thank you, Twilight." She muttered softly under her breath, looking back up. "No pony has ever done anything so kind to Trixie before." "It's no problem, Trixie. It's what friends would do. After all, your cart is still stuck in a large mud puddle, isn't it?" Twilight, the violet unicorn smiled, coming down the stairs and into the library room. Trixie gave a slight nod. "Yes, after what had happened with trying to make a private pool." Twilight let out a small laugh and then pointed her hoof to a book. "Trixie, I got you a gift while you were away for a while. I do most of my time trying to find new spell books, and well, I found one that would be great for you." The horn on Twilight's head started to glow softly, and she had dragged a book out of the walls. Magical Spells for Magical Unicorns; A Unicorn's Guide to Magic. "I think it's magical enough," Trixie laughed with Twilight and used her magic with Twilight's to grab it. She flipped it open, and glared down into it. "and maybe will help me with new spells that I could actually use." Twilight's horn didn't stop glowing yet, and she had pulled out another book. Spells of Greatness; A New Era of Power. "I assumed the Great and Powerful Trixie would have enjoyed this, it already has two parts of her name in it." Twilight said smugly. "Both of these are for you, this way you can learn some new spells. I looked at the Spells of Greatness book, and had tons of useful spells. Spells like heavy levitation, casual fabrication, and even a stronger fireworks spell! I do admit, I liked the one on your stage when you first came here." Trixie passed a slight smile. "I don't know what to say, Twilight. This is too much, and I can't have you simply waste your bits. Thank you, so much. Soon, the Great and Powerful Trixie will be the most powerful unicorn!" She shouted with joy, jumping up and waving her front hooves in the air, while her back hooves were pinned on the ground. A small purple dragon came in the room. "That fireworks show was amazing, Trixie!" "Thank you, Spike." Trixie went back to the ground and smiled widely. "It was obvious, though. How everypony cheered me on and was in deep wanting for more. How they all watched in awe." Spike looked up at Twilight, and huffed calmly. "Still new to humble, isn't she?" He muttered into Twilight's ear. Twilight passed a quick chuckle and looked at Trixie, who started to lay down on the hardwood floor and read her books, her horn blazing with light as the book levitated in front of her. "Well, Trixie," Twilight started. "Spike and I are off to get some sleep. Don't stay up all night, you do have another performance tomorrow, right?" "Of course I do," Trixie looked up from her book. "Everypony is always demanding more from my magical abilities." Twilight nodded and started to walk up the Stairway, up to the bedroom, and she closed the door when Spike came in. Trixie was alone in the library room, glaring down at her book with interest. She couldn't help herself but to test these new powers that will happen at the single call from her voice. Trixie looked upwards, seeing the bookshelf. It was so tempting at this point. She looked back down on her page and looked back up at it. "The book says that heavy levitating can only be performed by the highest level unicorn." Trixie's eyes watered a bit, at the thought of the raging power that coursed through her while wearing the Alicorn Amulet. Trixie wiped away the tears that would have started to pour down, and she looked back at the page. "If... If Trixie isn't the highest level unicorn? Then who is?" She glared up the long stairwell, and glared at the closed door. "Could Twilight Sparkle..." Trixie clamped her eyes shut. "No. Twilight couldn't be the Highest Level unicorn, Twilight can't do age spells. But, she can lift heavy weights." Trixie blinked her eyes open again and glared at the bookshelf. "Trixie will be the highest level unicorn, once again." She lifted her body from the ground and slammed down her hooves. Trixie's horn started to glow. The light purple haze flew around the heavy bookshelf, too. Trixie could feel the pressure of the bookshelf hit her shoulders, and she had to lift herself up, too. Her horn glowed more brightly, now. It looked like a flame started to grow. A purple flame on top of her head. As seconds turned into minutes, Trixie's horn was brighter than ever, and leaving a sparkling sound in the air that could echo for miles upon miles. She was impressed how Twilight wasn't getting disturbed, if Twilight was even sleeping. The bookshelf was hardly off the ground by any inches, and was being pressed darkly. Trixie could feel herself getting weak, and low on power. She tried more than ever now, going to make sure that Twilight Sparkle wouldn't surpass her in greatness. The magic Trixie attempted started to work, with more massive amounts of temptation. She started to groan loudly, and adding pressure on her own hooves. "C'mon, Bookshelf! Obey my demand!" She muttered loudly, then shut her eyes forcefully. The bookshelf was lifting slowly, now. It was a full foot off from the ground now, and she had opened her eyes with glee. "I did it?" There was also something else in the room with her, now. A small purple dragon. "Trixie?" Spike shouted, walking down the stairs and closer to her. "What in Equestria are you doing?" He shouted as he came to the base of the stairs. "Trixie is becoming the most powerful equine, again!" She laughed with joy, but as her concentration dropped, so didn't the bookshelf. Books came flying down from each corner, and the bookshelf had slanted as it fell, crashing onto other bookshelves, causing them to spew books away. Trixie's face went from proud, to bashful. She looked at the cluster of books and glared at Spike. "Quick! Clean it all up before Twilight awakes!" Spike said quickly, grabbing at as many books as possible. He had a large amount of books in his arm at the end of only 15 seconds, and was shoving them into bookshelves. Trixie joining in, had levitated many books at once, and placing them softly in. "How could this have happened?" Trixie sniffled, glaring at Spike. "I thought I would be ready to levitate the bookshelf, I can levitate anything! Twilight Sparkle can't do it, can she?" "Of course she can," Spike growled, carrying more books. "She lifted that Ursa Minor, that one you should have exiled, remember?" Spike's hostility not being shy. The books he lifted were put away quickly, unlike Trixie's. She couldn't help but to read the many books Twilight owned. "I wasn't suposed to," Trixie retorted. "Those two colts came out of nowhere telling me to vanquish the Ursa Major, and it wasn't even that." Trixie levitated a few more books before spotting something on the ground. Spike hadn't noticed much of it, but it had a familiar look of something she was banned of knowing of. They must not of hidden it yet. Trixie thought to herself. Spike is looking away. My saddlebag is right over there. I'm not a thief, though. Trixie started to glare at the wooden box with interest. It... It couldn't hurt... Her magic started to glow heavier now, carrying the books and the box within a pile. "Oh, this is one of my books." She grinned, looking at Spike. She levitated it into her saddlebag and nodded. Both the book and the box. "Good for you," Spike muttered. There was still a cluster of books on the ground and Trixie let out a yawn. "I'd say you have enough room to curl up and sleep. You could use it." "Trixie would love to have her beauty sleep, now." Trixie glared to the left quickly and then back at Spike. "Because you are a Baby Dragon, you should probably go to bed now." Trixie trotted towards the island of hardwood flooring, and rested herself calmly. "We wouldn't want Twilight to wake up and see you out of bed, would we?" Spike blushed a bit, and walked awkwardly towards the staircase. "Good Night, Trixie." "Good night, Spike." > Chapter Two > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter Two By SpaghettiPie "Trixie! Get up!" Twilight shouted loudly, her horn blazing with lights and books floating. Trixie muttered slightly and rolled over. "Get up, now, Trixie!" Her horn was sorting all types of books. From large amounts of pages, to just picture books. There were many being shuffled and placed in alphabetical order. Trixie rolled around even more. "I don't want to shuffle the rocks today, I'd rather just mine them." She whimpered slightly, her horn glowing as she levitated a book and placed it on her shoulder. "Good thing this isn't a rock farm, then." Twilight's horn stopped glowing as she dropped books and walked closer to the other unicorn, sleeping on her floor. "It's a library and you need to pick up the mess you made. Dropping books everywhere." Twilight's horn brightened up again, lifting the book off from Trixie. Then, dropping the book, Twilight concentrated her magic around Trixie's body, and lifting her up with busy thoughts. Trixie, feeling herself becoming Air Borne, blinked open her eyes. She noticed the sparkles surrounding her body and let out a gasp of shock. "How are you doing that?" She pointed her hoof at Twilight. "You aren't the highest level unicorn, but you are lifting a mass weight into the air, how are you lifting me?" Twilight's face blushed slightly. "I may not be the highest level unicorn, but levitation came easy to me. It was the first spell I ever learned." Twilight put Trixie back down and looked around at the library. "What happened?" "I was... Practicing. I looked deep into my books, and saw the Heavy Levitation spell. I couldn't resist." Trixie, glaring at her hooves, muttered calmly. "Spike came out last night and helped pick up, but I told him to go back to sleep. A small baby dragon shouldn't be up in the middle of the night." Twilight nodded. "That's why he's sleeping in." She walked closer to Trixie, and laughed a bit. "I heard most everything, once Spike shouted about me waking up." The sun was now poking up from the window and glaring into the room. Twilight sighed. "Well, we better clean up and start our day off right." She levitated a few more books and placed them on the bookshelf calmly. "I needed a quick organization day, anyways." Trixie let out a slight chuckle and would started lifting up books with her magic, too. Books swaying left and right would fall into the right place on their shelf. Trixie took a glare at a small book that read "The Little Unicorn". "I used to have this book." She smiled, and placed it on the shelf. "It's for when Sweetie Belle comes over, it's one of her favorites." Twilight responded with a smile. "As a filly, I found it nice to read about another unicorn's adventure. Finding her cutie-mark, before I had mine." Twilight lifted another book, and levitated it over to Trixie. "What is this?" Trixie muttered, her head tilted slightly and read the title. "'Celestial Magic; A Ponies Guide on Highest Levels'. A highest level unicorn book?" Trixie glared at awe in the golden letters carved on it's leather binding. She swapped her magic to lift it and had opened it softly. "'Becoming a Magic Talented Unicorn'. Is that what you read?" Twilight shook her head. "I'm afraid not. I knew that Princess Celestia gave it to me to read, but I didn't want to be the highest level unicorn. I just wanted to be the run-of-the-mill unicorn, ponyvillian." Trixie placed it on a shelf as it's gold coated letters gleamed. She couldn't stop staring. Trixie turned back around to face Twilight and looked down at her hooves. "The floor is all cleaned?" She smiled. "Yes, Trixie. We better get going, now. Rose Luck found a bunch of Snapdragons, I thought it would be a good treat for Spike. Something for him to remember about being a good friend, and when he grows up, the plant will grow with him." Twilight levitated her own saddlebag onto her back, bits making lovely noises. The most common sound of silver bits waving. "Snapdragons? Aren't those dangerous?" Trixie muttered with distaste. "Yes," Twilight started. "but not to dragons. Their hard scales take away pain, and the Snapdragon doesn't fire back." Trixie nodded, and levitated her saddlebag over, too. The sound of the box catching her ear. "I brought some bits of my own," she lied. "I can buy some other flowers, and use them for a sandwich or something." "That sounds delicious, Trixie. My favorite is the Daffodils, they taste like butter." Twilight nodded, opening the door and walking out calmly, Trixie following shortly behind her. "My favorites are the Lilies, the taste of the bulbous plant is sweet beyond any other flower!" Trixie waved her hoof in the air outside. Trixie stopped and glared forward. Pinkie Pie bounding closer to the library with joy, behind her was Fluttershy and Rarity. Trixie and Twilight came closer to them, too. Once being almost face-to-face, they all stopped. "Hi!" Pinkie cheered loudly, her eyes wide open and a smile slapped on her face. Rarity looked at Trixie and had an unamused look on her face, her hoof circling the ground. "Hello there, Trixie." She muttered. Flipping her hair back, she shut her eyes and held her nose up a little higher. "I do believe you are staying with Twilight for a while, until you can get your cart back?" Trixie flattened her ears. "Yes, Rarity." Twilight flicked her ear. "We were just going to get some flowers, would you girls like to come with us?" Rarity opened her eyes. "Does Rose Luck have any of those beautiful Sun Flowers, or the Rose Pedals?" She walked closer to Twilight and smiled widely. "I did hear her say something about Roses, but I don't know about the Sun Flowers." Twilight said calmly. "What about you Fluttershy, what would you like?" Fluttershy flattened her ears. "Just a few Buttercups. They're my favorites." Twilight nodded and smiled. "Should we all go then?" A Few Hours Later... Trixie was back at Twilight's library. Her hooves were tapping lightly as the purple unicorn was out for a walk to help Pinkie Pie find her lost alligator, Gummy. Growing bored of the nothingness that filled the library, Trixie glared at her saddlebag. Neither Spike or Twilight were here, she finally had a chance. "Nobody is coming, everyone knows Twilight is helping Pinkie. I could just wear it, one more time." Trixie slowly went towards her bag, her horn glowing as she pulled up the string and revealing it's contents. A few books and a wooden box. She levitated the wooden box out of the bag, and she glared at it with anticipation. "This is a bad idea, what if they came back?" Trixie put the box back down, her ears flattening. Levitating it again, though. "But that isn't possible. That alligator is probably just in Pinkie Pie's tub." She tapped her hoof on the floating box to open it up. The item inside of it was glowing brightly. A red shade growing near Trixie's face as she smiled in awe. "It can't hurt to use it." She levitated the Amulet near her neck, and wrapped it tightly. Her eyes shuddered to a red color, and then back. She let out a dark smile. "This power," she muttered. Her horn glowing, lifting up the heavy bookshelf with ease. "it's the best!" She shouted, as the bookshelf was joined by it's others. Trixie let out a booming laugh of raging power.
