Have you ever had those times in your life when everything is just perfect, and one thing happens and it all shatters? Well that pretty much explains my entire life for ya. I had rich parents, great friends, an awesome house, and unlimited access to entertainment, in particular My Little Pony. All of that was taken from me by my good for nothing uncle. I'll explain all that to you a different time. All you need to know is he is the biggest douche bag you will ever meet.

Ever since I lost everything I had, I have been living here in Chicago. Yeah I did live in Kentucky with my family, but they're all dead now so that doesn't matter. I have very little to remember home with. I just have this green hiking backpack with some sentimental items in it.

I have this small flannel blanket that I got from my mom one Christmas. It's rather small but it kept me warm on my travels; and of course it is one of the only things to remember my mom by.

My heart pillow that I got from heart surgery that is signed by most of my family. That is a very dear thing to me and I will never lose it. It was my best friend right after surgery, because it was the best pain reliever. Yeah, while I'm on the topic I had heart surgery about three years ago when I was thirteen.

Oh and I forgot to mention that I am only sixteen years old. Yeah, I'm a sixteen year old orphan hobo that lives on the streets of Chicago. Any way, back to my items.

I have my four-leaf clover hat that I have always worn. It's black with a green clover on the side and a small one on the back. I usually wear it backwards anyway.

I also have my awesome shades that I have had for three years now. They have a black frame and orange and purple lenses. They're pretty nice considering I got them from Wal-Mart.

Now the one thing I can't live without is my camouflage pull-over. I like to call it old-reliable. I have worn it ever sense the day I got it and that won't change until it breaks or I die.

The one thing I took while my uncle wasn't looking was a forty-four magnum revolver and a box of bullets. I took this because it belonged to my dad before he died. He trained me in how to use it properly. He said when I was old enough he would give it to me, and when my uncle kicked me out I snuck it out with me

Well I think that's enough of my background story. All that matters is my parents died in a plane crash and now I'm an orphan that has walked across the country to find opportunity. Sure it's sad but that's how my life has gone for two years now; but hey, that's all behind me now. I am just going to do what my dad wanted and make my mark on this world or any other. What he meant by “any other” I have no clue, but I just hope it happens soon.

Well this leaves us where I am now. Sitting on a bench outside my friend’s dad's gun store.

Yeah my only friend now is Dylan Travis. He's a good friend and tries to help me, but I decline because I can take care of myself. Speak of the devil hear he comes now.

"Hey Dylan, how ya doing bro."

"Why are you asking me? You’re the one people should be concerned about. Living on the streets and what not. You really need to move in with me and dad. He said it was okay and that you could get a job working with us." He pleaded.

"Look, you don't have to be so pushy about it. Besides, my answer is still no. I can take care of myself you know. Thanks for the thought though."

He flipped his hair out of his eyes before he sighed. He was about a year older than me but we're about the same height, a couple inches less than six feet. He has long dusty blonde hair. Boy does he have light skin, I mean this guy could get burnt by the moon.

He reached his arm out and patted me on the shoulder and began to speak.

"Hey man, I'm sorry I'm being such a douche to you, but this isn't good for you. You need a safe place to sleep at night. This place is crime ridden and over run with gangs. I don't want to see anything bad happen to ya out here. You’re like my brother."

"My dad wanted me to make my mark on this world, and I plan to fulfill my dad's wish on my own. I don't need your sentiment anymore, I'll be fine." I said with a hint of anger, as I got up and walked off.

Honestly I didn't want for that to come off as mean but I just snapped. I'll come back and apologize tomorrow. It's starting to get dark out right now.

According to the clock in the jewelry store I just passed it's around 8:30, not bothering to look at my watch. I had better find an alley way and get comfortable. It's time for another long night in fabulous old Chicago.

I found a nice dark alley and took off my back-pack and laid it up against the wall. I pulled out my blanket and covered myself from the waist up. I curled up into a ball and leaned slightly on my back-pack.

Hopefully tonight I will have a dream about my old family. I know I said that's all behind me, but I can't help but think about them at night. I miss my mother’s cooking, playing x-box with my brothers and friends, spending time with my dad when he wasn't working, and most of all my parents telling me every night before I go to sleep that they love me.

1:37 A.M.

I awoke to the sound of a woman screaming. I stuffed the blanket into the pack and slipped my arm under the straps, grabbed my loaded gun and ran towards the scream.

I ran for about a block before I rounded the corner to see a tall man wearing all black trying to mug a young woman. I looked for a second and noticed the guy had a gun in his hand. I took a step closer and began to speak.

"Hey, let her go!" I yelled.

The man stopped and looked at me and pointed the gun in my direction. He glared at me then he spoke.

"Piss off kid or I'll shoot."

I took another step and drew my gun quickly. I couldn't let him keep attacking this woman. I needed to make my mark in society and now was my chance.

I heard two loud bangs as he pulled the trigger. My body went completely cold and into shock. I looked down as at my abdomen. I quickly clutched the bleeding wound and my hand became covered in my blood. I felt my strength leave my body and I knew that this was it for me, but I'm not going down alone.

"Oh fuck you!" I yelled angrily pulling the trigger.

The bullet hit him between the eyes and sent him to the ground in an instant. I fell against a wall and slowly slid down it until I was sitting on the ground. I looked at the blood smeared down the wall from my wound. It had gone straight through. I could hear the sirens in the distance getting louder.

Before the cops could arrive I faded into a deep sleep. When I opened my eyes I was lying on the floor of a dark room. I heard a familiar regal voice speak out to me.

"And so it begins." It said from my front.

I lifted my head and saw a figure in the distance. It looked as tall as me and had wings. I could tell it was a female by the voice. Then it spoke again.

"Rest now young orphan, you have a long hard journey ahead. Do not let me down." It said. The last of my strength died away as the freezing cold finally reached my head.

Arrival in Equestria

"Orphan you need to wake up." I heard a feminine voice say.

"Mom, is that you?" I asked not opening my eyes, and rolling onto my back.

"No little orphan I am not your mother. Please do arise young one we have much to discuss." There was kindness in the female voice.

"Ok then." I said sitting up and opening my eyes.

I looked in front of me and saw something truly amazing and unbelievable. I was staring at a six foot tall pony, and not just a pony, she was known as an alicorn. Not just any alicorn at that, no she was the grand ruler of Equestria. She was the esteemed Princess Celestia.

I stared at her for a few seconds in amazement. Her coat was pure white and flawless. The feathers on her wings were perfectly aligned. Her flowing mane and tail of many colors were beautiful. She wore her usual attire like she did on the show. She looked down at me with her dazzling eyes and smiled.

Then a thought popped into my head. Where the hell am I, and how the hell am I talking to Princess Celestia. I thought for a moment then I stood. I was a little light headed and almost fell, but I luckily caught myself. I noticed that she stood a few inches taller then me. Damn I hate being be so short. I looked in eye and asked her the question that was on my mind.

"Ok, how the hell did I get here, no wait where am I? Am I dead?" I asked the princess in a confused tone.

"Little orphan you aren't dead obviously. When it comes to location I think you know where we are. I brought you here after you were killed. I need you for something in the distant future, and I couldn't let you die. I randomly peak into your world to study your kind. When I came across you I notices you were different. When you died my little orphan I took pity and brought you here. I healed your wounds and waited for you to awaken. I hope you appreciate what I have done for you." Celestia said with a heart warming smile.

"My names Jacob by the way, and yes I do appreciate what you have given me. Life has gone down hill for me in the past year, and this place could surely make it all better." I said holding back tears of joy. "So, where exactly will I be staying here in Equestria?"

"I could arrange for my servants to prepare you a room at the castle. If that is what you wish to do." Celestia said to me as I looked around.

I noticed that we were just standing in a random field with no surrounding civilizations that I could. When I leaned down to pick up my bag I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. Then I instantly remembered what had happened early this morning. Two shots to the stomach and I'm still walking. Man I'm a pure bad ass. I pulled the green straps over my shoulders and turned to the princess.

"Yea that sounds good to me. How are we going to get back?" I said expecting to see a carriage being pulled by guards.

"If you take my hoof we could teleport back to the castle. I'm sure your up for teleporting aren't you." Celestia said extending her fore hoof to me.

"Well, why the hell not. I don't see any thing else for me to do here." I said taking her hoof.

Her horn began to glow with her golden magic. It formed a veil over the both of us. I have to admit it felt strangely soothing. Then there was a flash that blinded me for a few seconds. I covered my eyes with my hands a be fell to my knees. When I opened my eyes I looked around and found myself in the throne room of the castle. Being a brony I know that this is the Canterlot castle. I stood up and turned to the princess.

"So what time is it exactly? Cause if I just woke up, why do I need a place to stay?"

"It's about ten thirty in the morning here. I figured we could find you a place to stay now and get it out of the way. Then you could go around town and socialize with the ponies. I will probably go with you so they aren't afraid of you."

"Ok then, when we find a place can I get a shower? I don't think I've had one in three days." I said smelling my arm pits.

"Alright then, I guess I could have my servants fix you a room here in the castle if would like."

"Good enough for me I just need a place to get rid of this." I said pointing at my green hiking backpack.

"Alright I'll have room close to mine prepared for you." Celestia said with a smile. "Skyline, I need you to prepare a room for my friend here. Please make it quick he needs a shower bad." She said jokingly with a giggle.

"Yes your majesty, do you request the room closest to yours?" The white pegasus stallion said.

"Yes, that would be a fine place for him to stay." Celestia said lightly pushing me towards her servant.

"Yes your majesty, please follow me my good sir." Skyline said with a small bow.

"Alright then, lead the way." I said as we walked out of the throne room.

Skyline stayed quiet the whole time. I think it's because he didn't know what I was, but that's only thought. We walked through a court yard and up a white tower. It looked exactly like it did on the show. What I'm wondering is how the show was so much like the actual place, and did we even know this place existed. Whatever, I'm in Equestria I'm going to make the best of it.

"Here we are my good master. This is where the princess wants you to stay." Skyline said opening the door to the master suite.

The walls of the room were either dark purple or black. I can't really tell because I'm color blind, but that doesn't matter. There was a large bed at the end of the room with black sheets that had a crescent moon on them. There was a night stand and wardrobe close beside it, other then the fire place and the bathroom the room was empty. I have a strange feeling I know whose room this was, but I think I'll keep it to myself. I walked in and set my bag on the bed and looked around. I could tell there used to be pictures on the wall because of the faint outlines.

"While you shower and look around the city I will clean the area. This room has been vacant for a very long time. The bathroom is over there. There may still be cleaning soap in there. If not please let me know. I am afraid we don't have any spare clothes for you. Mostly because we don't have any clothes that would fit you. So please do take care of your business, and I will await your return outside. If there is anything at all you need don't hesitate to ask." Skyline said with an awkward smile.

"Ok, that sounded rehearsed for one. Two if your afraid of me i mean you no harm. You seem like a pretty cool guy, I wouldn't harm anyone innocent." I said taking of my camo pullover. "We can get to know each other better after my shower, so you can go wait outside if you want."

"Yes sir, I'm glad to be able to count you as friendly. I will wait outside till you call me." Skyline said walking out and closing the door.

"Ok, so the "sir" thing is going to have to end. I should have figured they wouldn't except me at first." I said out loud to myself.

I walked into the bathroom and saw that it was like a normal human bathroom. It had a sink, shower, toilet, and mirror. To my surprise there was still some bar soap in the shower. I turned on the warm water half way and the cool water half way. The water felt good running down my arm. I turned and looked in the mirror at myself. I noticed I needed to shave pretty bad. Then again I was a hobo so what should I expect. I took of my tight gray shirt an laid it on the sink. I saw my normal heart surgery scare. It looked pretty good as far as scares go. I noticed that there was two small scares on my lower abdomen. Then I remembered that I got shot twice. I felt pretty badass with those scares.

"Well at least I got him as good as he got me." I said remembering how I shot him in the eye.

I proceeded to undress and take my shower. The water felt pretty awesome to me. I stood there for a while after I had washed. After two years on the streets you don't get very many showers. I only got a few when my friend let me use his shower.

I turned of the shower and pulled back the curtain. I stepped out onto the rug and grabbed a towel from the pile. I dried off and dressed myself in some of my spare clothes I had in my bag. After I was dressed I turned and walked to open the door to the stairs.

I opened the door and saw Skyline starring off into the distance. He didn't even notice I opened the door because he was starring so intently. I walked up and tapped him on the shoulder which caused him to jump back into reality.

"Sweet Celestia, you scared me!" Skyline said with a gasp.

"Sorry, you were just completely out of it. I had bring you back into reality." I said patting him on the shoulder. "You can come in now if you want."

"Alright then." Skyline said walking into the chamber.

I walked in behind him and closed the door behind me. This room was pretty dark during the day. I walked over to the balcony door and opened it letting in some light.

"So Skyline, are you from around these parts?" I said leaning up against the frame of the balcony door.

"No actually, I'm from the grand city of Cloudsdale. I came here looking for a job." He said standing in the middle of the room in the sunlight.

"Do like your job here?" I said trying to be friendly.

"Honestly, I like working for the princess in all, but its not what my special talent is. I'm not meant for this kind of life. I'm meant for adventure and exploration." He said nodding his cutie mark which just so happened to be a treasure map.

"If adventuring is your special talent then why aren't you out there exploring? I thought you were supposed to embrace your special talent." I said looking out into the city.

"I'm not as young as I look. I'm about thirty years old. I use to go exploring all the time, but when my brother was killed on one of our trips I quit all together." He said looking down at the ground. I thought for sure he was going to cry, but to my surprise he didn't he just looked up and sniffled a little.

I now stared at the white stallion. I felt bad for the guy, and also because I know how he feels loosing part of his family. I walked over to him and patted him on the back. "Dude, I know exactly how you feel about loosing a brother. I have lost two in my life time, and my little sister, and both my parents." I said squatting down beside him.

"It's good to finally meet someone who understands my situation." He said smiling at me. "But, now that you have had your shower I do believe the princess needs to see you." He said as he slicked his sky blue mane back.

"Alright then." I said standing up and putting on my back pack. "But first I have to ask. Are we friends?" I said extending my hand to him.

"I don't see why we wouldn't be." He said smiling as I shook his hoof. "By the way, you can just leave your bag in here if you want."

"Over the past two years, this thing hasn't left my person unless I go to sleep." I said holding the straps on my collar bone.

"Fine by me, but please do come. The princess is waiting for us." He said walking to the large black doors.

I turned and closed the balcony doors, and proceeded to exit my new living chambers.
