> The Separation of Mother and Daughter. > by SolidFerret > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > When the past comes knocking. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The clear skies were made by Rainbow Dash herself for this very day. It was the first summer since she found Scootaloo and she took her to the park. The sun was warm and gentle breezes went by every now and then. No clouds in the sky at all. Rainbow Dash sighed out of relaxation as Scootaloo ran happily around the park. Rainbow Dash decided to go have fun with her daughter. The two chased around and jumped around in a pure happiness. A few others looked at them and smiled at the bond that could clearly be seen. But one thing Scootaloo noticed was when there was a baby like her, there was a stallion and a mare with them. The word 'daddy' was said to them. Scootaloo picked up on it and decided to ask her mother. "Mommy, wheres daddy?" She asked. Rainbows pupils shrank at the sound of the word 'daddy.' Scootaloo never knew that Dash wasn't with anypony right now. She was always busy with flying to look for any colts. She didn't know what to do. Scootaloo never asked anything personal like this. Rainbow leaned and and said the closest thing. "I'm not with anypony." Scootaloo began to weep softly. Dash picked her up and sped on home. But Scootaloo kept saying between sobs. "I want daddy." Present Day "Mom, do I really need to be watched by Derpy" Scootaloo complained as Rainbow Dash was struggling getting blue suit on. "Yes." She said as she struggled more with her suit. "But she's... you know... weird." Rainbow Dash stopped her a second and turned to her daughter. "You know, when you were a baby, she used to make you laugh so hard that she kept being clumsy just to do it. Plus, you and her daughter were very close friends." Scootaloo remembered suddenly. The two did spend Hearths Warming together. Rainbow finally succeeded in getting her suit on. An official Wonderbolts suit. Scootaloo looked in awe at it. She too dreamed of being in the Wonderbolts just as much as her mom did. "You look great mom." Scootaloo complimented. "Do I look great cause' I don't feel great and I'm afraid they'll turn me away for my looks and then I won't be there any more and then-" "MOM!" Scootaloo yelled. Dash stopped and turned to her daughter. "You're rambling again." She pointed out. Rainbow realized it and began to laugh. Scootaloo laughed along with her mother. A knock at the door interrupted them. Dash answered it to see Derpy along with Soarin. "Oh hi Rainbow Dash. I was lost and this nice colt showed me the way." Derpy smiled as she trotted in. Rainbow Dash could tell by the look on Soarins face that he was heavily annoyed by her. But he shook it off. "Alright well, It's your first day of the Wonderbolts. We have training today and well uhm... lets get going." Soarin seemed awfully nervous. "Well good luck mom." Scootaloo said. Rainbow Dash leaned and kissed her forehead. "Thanks sweetie." "Good luck Rainbow Dash." Derpy said as she waved. "Thanks Derpy." "You know mom," Scootaloo leaned in to her moms ear and whispered, "if I didn't know any better, I think you have an eye for that stallion." Rainbow Dash blushed at the words. "Not true." She whispered back. Her daughter would often embarrass her but occasionally she would go a little to far. "Hey... are you almost ready?" Soarin asked from the door way. Rainbow Dash quickly turned back. "Oh yeah we're just saying goodbye and all. I'll be there shortly." She said quick and nervously. "Smooth mom." "Well I'm off. Derpy you know what to do and Scoots be good.'' A kiss on the forehead and Rainbow Dash was out the door with Soarin. "Well now what?" Scootaloo asked. A grown colt with a messy yellow mane and an orange pelt stumbled through the streets of Cloudsdale. Only one thing was on his mind. "Get my daughter back." Derpy had tried to get Scootaloo to fly. "Come on Scootaloo. You got to believe in yourself." Derpy encouraged as Scootaloo would jump off a chair and try to flap her wings in hopes of hovering. "My wings aren't developed enough. Mom says I need to wait." Scootaloo said. "Nonsense." Derpy waved her hoof. "That doesn't mean we don't prepare for when your wings are developed." "I guess you're right." Scootaloo said. "Alright lets try again n-'' A knock on the door interrupted her. "Moms not supposed to be back yet for another hour." Scootaloo said, confused as the knocking got more violent. "I'll get it.'' Derpy said as she trotted over to the door. But the door was knocked down as a stallion burst through it. Scootaloo tried no to scream. "Where is she?" He yelled angrily. "Who?" Derpy asked while cowering on the floor. "My Daughter!" He yelled. "Who's your daughter?" Derpy asked, hoping that he would think he was at the wrong house and leave. "Her name is Scootaloo." He said. Scootaloo almost ran. She didn't want to go with this stallion and his words stated that he planned to get her back. Scootaloo burst out of her hiding place and ran down the hall way. "Scootaloo!" He yelled as he ran after her, not caring that he kicked Derpy as he ran. "It's me. Your father!" he yelled as he ran after her. Scootaloo ran to her room. She saw a window high up but she would have to fly. She climbed on her bed just as the door burst open and the colt ran in. Scootaloo shrieked and jumped. Her tiny wings buzzing as she reached for the window. She could feel the winds and the sun as her body started to get out the window. But she was grabbed and pulled back. Her 'father' had pulled her into a hug. One that Scootaloo struggled to get out of. "No it's me Scootaloo." he tried his best to comfort his daughter. But his tired red eyes and smell of alcohol said otherwise. "I'm gonna take you home now. You and I will be a family." Scootaloo kept trying to get out of his hold. "I don't want to GO WITH YOU!" She screamed. "No. We'll be okay." He said to her. He carried her out the door in her arms. Scootaloo reached for objects in a desperate attempt to get free from her fathers hold. Items were knocked down and things were broken. "Help me!" She said to Derpy, who couldn't get up from all the blows to the head that Scootaloos dad gave to her. As he went out the door, Scootaloo took one last look at her home. She wept as her father took off into the sky. "Derpy I'm- WHAT THE HELL?" Rainbow Dash had come home to find furniture knocked over and vases broke. Derpy laid on the ground with a bump on her head. "Derpy, what happened?" Rainbow Dash came to her side. "He took her." Derpy said with tears in her eyes. "Who's he? Wheres Scootaloo?" "This colt who said he was Scootaloos dad came and took her." She said as she ran out in tears. Rainbow Dash was broken by those words. The most precious thing to her in the world was just taken right out of her very home. She simply broke down into tears. "Hey Rainbow Dash, I just gotta say that you did great and-" Soarin cut himself of at the sight of her home. But what really hurt him was Rainbow Dash crying on the floor. "The took her. The one thing I care about most in the world is gone." Soarin didn't need a picture to know that Scootaloo was gone. Soarin did what any colt would do and went over and hugged her. Rainbow Dash cried on his shoulder. As the two held each other, Soarin realized just how much Rainbow Dash cared for her daughter despite the fact that she found her in a box. Even if they aren't related to you, losing someone you love can hurt you no matter how much you two aren't actually related. > Court in Session. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Order. Order!" The judge yelled as she slammed the mallet down. Rainbow Dash sat at her seat at the front of the rows. She wasn't nervous at all. This pony broke into her home and took her child. There was no need for a lawyer. But that didn't stop her heart from raising at the sight of her daughter stepping out with her father. He was a mess. An uncleaned mane, a dirty coat, he smelled of alcohol that Rainbow could smell from here. Scootaloo looked around and saw Dash sitting there. She couldn't contain herself as she ran to her. "Mommy!" She yelled as she ran. Only to be contained by a guard. Rainbow could tell why she was so excited. Living with a pony like her father is probably a nightmare. This pony wasn't fit to raise Scootaloo. Dash leaned back in her chair. She thought she had this one 'in the bag.' "Court is now in session." The judge called. "We have Rainbow Dash vs.-'' Rainbow dash ignored the rest. She couldn't believe she was dragged into court in the first place. Clearly the guards she called after this colt were stupid. But Dash could see it now. After freeing her daughter from the mess of a colt that was her real father, she would be named a hero. A crowd of ponies waiting for her outside the court room. All of them chanting her name. "Rainbow Dash! Rainbow Dash! Rainbow Dash!" "Rainbow Dash!" The judge snapped. Rainbow Dash shook herself from her day dream and turned towards the judge. "Yes?" "Considering the fact that you don't even have a lawyer, you may not want to drift off." The judge said harshly. Rainbow knew that it wouldn't be good if you were on the bad side of the judge. But Dash thought that maybe the judge was just being a grouch. "So for the first speech, I'll leave it to the jury." The judge turned to the jury stand. "We'd like for Rainbow Dash to present her case." The jury obviously chose her since there was no lawyer. "With pleasure." Rainbow said as she rose to address the audience. "Fillies and gentlecolts of the jury, is it wrong to ask why we are even here. This colt broke into my very home and took my daughter away from me." "Objection. She's actually my daughter." Scootaloos father said. "But the point being is that you gave up your child and I took it into my care." "Objection. The mother gave her up. I never did so I still have the rights to call her my child." "But years of raising, she learned to call me mom. But suddenly, you burst into my own home, hurt one of my friends, and take my 'adoptive' daughter out by force." Dash made a good point with that statement. The crowd began to murmur amongst themselves. "Order. Order." The judge said with the smack of the mallet. The crowd quieted down. "So lets here the defendants side of things." She leaned her head over in Scootaloos fathers' direction. "Thank you your honor." He said as he stood up to the crowd. "Fillies and gentlecolt of the court room, I love my daughter. The hurt I had when I found out that she was taken away from me by my wife was dreadful. I ask you to please-" Rainbow Dash had once again drifted off. If there was one thing he could tell about this colt, is that he was lying through is own teeth. Rainbow snickered at the thought that it was through the large gap in them. "When I heard where my daughter was, I went looking for her. When I got to the house where she was staying at, I was met with force by a pony that wasn't even the mare that claims to be the mother. In fact, she may have had a mental disability." "OBJECTION! That mare has more brains then you ever will!" Dash yelled. The crowd gasped. Whether if it was for Rainbows outburst or the fathers comment was unknown. "Well can you at least tell me where you were?" He asked with a raised eyebrow. "It was my first day as a Wonderbolt." She stated. "Is this true?" The judge asked. "Yes it is." A small voice spoke. Dash thanked her lucky stars for Scootaloo, who had spoken for her. "Well I believe that we have enough evidence. Jury, I'll leave the rest for the jury." She nodded in their direction. Without saying a word, they got up and went through the door to a secluded room. An eternity of waiting had fallen on Rainbow Dash. Time seemed to have stopped just for her as she waited. Scootaloo waited for them to tell her that she can go back home with her real mother. She may not have given birth to her but she raised like she had laid her from an egg. Rainbows ears perked at the sound of the door. The jury had stepped out. "Jury please state your verdict." "We find the defendant innocent of charges for kidnap and assault." They said. "Good, case closed." The sound of the mallet smacking struck more then a nerve in Dash. The crowd began to speak, questioning the verdict. "No. No it can't be. It can't be." Rainbow Dash thought out loud. "MOMMY!" Scootaloo wailed as she bolted from her seat and to her mother. Rainbow Dash jumped to the ground and opened her hooves to welcome her daughter. But was pulled back by a guard. The same happening for Scootaloo. "No! Let me go!" She yelled as they dragged her through the courtroom. "Mommy!" Scootaloo called as she was dragged pass the doors. Rainbow Dash was released and immediately tried to charge back into the court room. She was met with the doors closed on her. "No. Please no." She sobbed as she rested her head on the door. Tears fell down and from her cheeks. Her very daughter was gone. Taken away from her by some mad pony. She was back to being all alone. "Hey Rainbow Dash, how was-" Soarin and two other Wonderbolts, Spitfire, and Fleefoot rounded the corner. Soarin cut himself off at the sight of how miserable she was. His ears flattened to his head at the sight. He ran over and pulled her into a hug. Rainbow Dash hugged him back weakly. She was glad that at least somepony had sympathy for her. [A/N] I don't know much about court so don't blame me. > New life at home. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I just don't get it." Rainbow Dash paced back and fourth. Soarin and Spitfire were there for support. "How could they not notice that fact that her father was unfit to raise her?" Rainbow said out loud once more. "Well maybe it was the court system. Anypony on jury can say whatever they want.'' Spitfire said. "It couldn't have been that. Maybe he knew the judge and she owed him a favor?" Rainbow said as she paced back and fourth at her home. "Was there something missing?" Soarin said. "Like what?" Dash said back. "Well, maybe there was something missing to show that you were Scootaloos' guardian." Rainbow Dash was about to object when she had a thought. Maybe there was something missing that made her a legal guardian. She thought hard to find the answer. "I never got the papers!" Rainbow yelled. "Thats what I was thinking of." Soarin said with a wave of his hoof. "I hate to break it but its to late." Spitfire said. Dash knew it. She lowered to her self to the ground. Ears falling flat to her head. Tears fell from her face. "I wish I could go back." She whimpered. Soarin felt bad and went by her side. "We can't go back to the past, but we can find a way to get Scootaloo back." He said with a comforting hug. "I just don't know what to do." Rainbow sobbed. "I'm all alone. I don't want to be alone." She was on the verge of a full-on meltdown. "You can stay with me." Soarin said rather quickly. Almost blushing at how fast he said it. "You'd do that for me?" Dash said with a gleam in her eye. "Of course, I lo- you're part of the team. We treat each other like family." He said. Spitfire rolling her eyes at how bad he tried to cover up his mistake. "Thank you." Rainbow said. She flew out while calling saying that she'll meet him out there. "You're real smooth Soarin." Spitfire said. "Well I care for her. I'd hoped you'd at least be happy for that." He said. "Just don't take advantage." She said as she walked out of Dash's house. "I won't." Soarin said. "Dad, I don't want to stay here." Scootaloo said. "Hey, I'm your father. I put you in this world. I have the right to raise you." He said. almost to loud and assertively. "But mo-" "She wasn't your mother. She was a caretaker until I found you." He said. "But she cares for me more than you." Scootaloo said under her breath. Unfortunately for her, Scootaloos dad heard nice and clear about her comment and trotted over at a quick and terrifying pace. "What did you say?" He growled. "Nothing. Nothing at all." Scootaloo tried her best not to sound scared. "Oh, I heard you." He said. Scootaloo gulped nervously. "Well it's true." Scootaloo figured that if she was caught, she might as well help her statement. "Well she wasn't your own biological mother. She had no right to raise you!" He yelled. "But I do. And I raise my daughter differently than her." Scootaloo flinched as he raised his hoof. "The guest room is made for you. The bathroom is that way." Soarin said as he pointed down the hallway. "Note. You are free to the fridge. Just don't eat everything or any of the pies I have." Rainbow Dash giggled at his last statement. "Well it is late so I guess we'll turn in for now." Soarin said. He had a nervous tone to his voice. He turned to his room when a voice stopped him. "Soarin." He turned around. "Yeah?" "Thank you." Rainbow Dash smiled at him. "I'd do anything to help you Rainbow Dash." He said with a smile. Scootaloo quietly weeped in her room. Just a dirty bed with a torn blanket. "Why?" She sobbed. "Why this? Why me?" She buried her face into her hooves. Ignoring the pain she felt on her forehead. She tried her best to not be loud so her dad wouldn't hear her. "I want my mom back. My real mom. Not the one who gave birth but the one who loved, raised me, and taught me even if I wasn't one of her own. She was a better parent then dad will ever be." She sobbed some more. "One day." She said as she looked out her window and at the night sky. The moon lit up her tear stained face as she stared at the twinkling stars. But her heart raced at the sight of a streak of light that went across the sky. she gasped as it disappeared over the horizon. Scootaloo closed her eyes and lowered her head. After a moment she raised it again and stared back. As if waiting for a sign of hope, a star twinkled brightly that could be seen in the reflection of her very eyes. "A sign." She whispered. She curled up and closed her eyes. She now had hope. Hope that her mother would prevail and save her from the nightmare that she couldn't wake up from. > How's school going? > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scootaloo stepped nervously up the path to her school. She had finally gotten away from her father ,who believed that he was being a good parent by sending away his daughter for an education. A decision Scootaloo supported greatly. But when she stepped onto the school yard, she hid under her mane as all the ponies turned their heads towards her. She didn't want to deal with what they would say. The orange filly knew that they would approach her and tell her how they feel bad for her. She didn't even want to know what ponies like Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon would say. "Scoots?" A southern accent asked. Scootaloo spun around to see Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle looking at her. "I know what you're gonna say. I just want to be alone right now." Scootaloo said. "Are you sure?" Sweetie asked sympathetically. "Yeah i'm positive." She nearly angrily snapped at them. They both backed away from her in fear of provoking her into anger. "Man, I need to chill out" she said to herself. She sat and began to breath in and out to calm herself. The sound of hoofsteps got closer to her and she opened her eyes. "Scootaloo are you going to be okay today?" Ms. Cheerilee asked. "Yeah I'll be fine." Scootaloo said quickly. Hoping that Cheerilee would leave her alone. "Okay but if you-" "I said I'll be fine!" Scootaloo snapped. Cheerilee understood her and the anger and backed off. The bell rang a few minutes later. Scootaloo stumbled in to the class room and quickly took a seat at her desk. Her head resting on her hoof as she stared out the window as Cheerilee began the lesson for the day. "Settle down class. Today we will be learning about genetics and how parents pass there looks from pony to pony." As she finished her statement, she looked over at Scootaloo, who had already shown no interest in the lesson. Cheerilee worried at first until she saw Scootaloo staring at the window without interest. "OK so first off we-" Cheerilee was drowned out by Scootaloos thoughts. She thought about being free. Not from this school. No she loved it here. She could get away from her father. But what she was really thinking about was Rainbow Dash, her mother. Despite her father yelling into her ear that she wasn't her real mom, she believed that the term mother goes to those who care and love you for their life. But a tear nearly formed in her eye at the thought of her not being her mother anymore. Who in there right mind would take her away from her mother. Scootaloo had grown up with that mare right at her side. What was a comforting place to rest her head turned into some smelly old shed that her father lived in with mattresses. "You see class. Somepony may have the look of their father, yet inherit lets say he wings or horn of their mother." Cheerilee said. Paying no attention to Scootaloo who had been lost in her thoughts. 'Just shut it already.' Scootaloo thought. It wasn't that she hated Ms. Cheerilee or the way she was teaching. It was just the thought of hearing about parents and how she was gonna be forced to share the same pelt color as her father. The pony that shamed her and her Rainbow Dash and made fun of Derpy in the courtroom. "Not all ponies just look like one parent. Someponies can look like just their mother, just their father or a mixture of both." Cheerilee pointed out to the class. "Oh just shut up." Scootaloo called out. But when she realised what she said, it was to late. "See me after class Scootaloo." Cheerilee said as she went back to the lesson. Scootaloo sunk into her seat and tried to ignore the comments from other students. "Mommy?" An older pink mares head shot up in fear. She never wished to tell her little daughter about the truth. "What is it?" "How come I have to go with daddy? I want to stay with you." She said with tears in her eyes. "I don't know why. I want you to stay too." She said. Tears forming in her eyes that she fought desperately to stop from spilling from her eyes. Just as the little filly was about to speak again, a voice of a stallion called. "Cheery, it's time." The voice echoed through the house. But for the mare, it rang in her head. It was time to say goodbye to her little daughter. "Okay. I want you to be brave for me Cheery. You be good." She looked in the little fillies eyes and tried not to burst into tears. Cheery failing to do so and ran up and hugged her moms leg. "I will for you mommy." She wailed. As the mother and daughter held each other, the stallion that called to them approached the two and bent down to the filly. "The carriage is outside. We're leaving." He said. "NO! I want to stay with mommy." The little filly cried out. "But mommy can't take care of you. I can." The stallion said to her. "Cheery. You need to let me go.'' The mare said in tears. "NO!" She wailed. The mare instead walked down to her porch with the filly clinging to her legs. "I don't want this as much as you do." She said to the crying filly. "But why?" The filly wailed. "Because thats the rule." "Now give me her Cheerilee." The stallion said to her as he held out his hoofs. Cheerilee raised her hoof that the Cheery clung to so she wouldn't leave her mothers side. The stallion took the crying filly and took her in his hold. "I'm sorry it didn't work out between us." Cheerilee said sadly. "I wish there was another way. Oh well. Maybe if our paths cross again." He said lightly. "Maybe. I would love to see my daughter again." She said as a tear dropped from her eye as the carriage left. "Look I know that I had an 'outburst' but I don't see the reason that you have to hold me in after class." Scootaloo protested as she stood at the front desk. "Would you rather go home to your father." Cheerilee asked. "No." Scootaloo said simply. "Look, I called you in to tell you that I know what you're going through." Cheerilee said with a hoof on Scootaloos shoulder. "You were separated from your mother when you were my age?" Scootaloo said. "No. I was the mother that lost her little filly. My husband divorced me years ago. Since laws go towards those of stallions, I lost her." Scootaloos ears fell flat on her head. "I'm really sorry miss Cheerilee." She said. "Don't be. I don't even think you were born when it happened." "But that still doesn't say why i'm still here?" "I'm just calling you here to tell you, if there is anything you want to talk about then let me know. I'm here for you." Cheerilee said as she looked at Scootaloo. "Thanks miss-" "There you are." The door swung open to reveal Scootaloos father standing at the doorway. "Sir. You shouldn't just burst in here like that and expect me to-" "Shut it you dumb broad. I'm just here for my kid." He said angrily as he walk over and grabbed Scootaloo. It seemed like she was yanked away by her hoof and out the door. Cheerilee stood there dumbfounded at what she saw. A stallion like him had no right to raise such a sweet filly like Scootaloo. She knew what she had to do. "Now to contact the court and Rainbow Dash." [A/N] One more chapter. Yes there are five on purpose. Been a while. Well I got sick while watching the first Balto movie so I got paranoid. > So much for a happy ever after. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- [A/N] At this point, I'll just say, lets get this over with. Rainbow Dash found herself at the same seat as last time. Like last time, Scootaloo and her 'father' came out. Scootaloo calling to her wile her father prevented her from running to her. It felt more like she was reliving a memory then an actual court visit. "Order!" The judge called. The courtroom quited down to hear the judge. "We're here once more due to someone filing a complaint stating that Scootaloo shouldn't be with her father. The pony chose to remain unknown. We shall here the case of the legal guardian vs. the temporary guardian." Rainbow cringed at the word 'temporary'. She didn't want to be seen as some baby sitter that looked after Scootaloo for five years. After going from 'mama to 'mom' meant so much to her. "We will first hear the case of the legal guardian." The judge said as Scootaloos father took the stand. "Your honor. I have the right to raise my daughter. Why everypony can't see that I have that right?" Suddenly, something clicked in Rainbows head. She needed to state her point. Why Scootaloo is better with her then her father. Dash suddenly knew all the reasons about why she failed her first court trial. "I don't have any thing to state. She's my daughter and I have every right to raise her." The stallion took his seat. "Now for Rainbow Dash, who been fighting for custody." The judge looked over at Rainbow Dash, who nearly jumped out of her seat to present her case. "Your honor!" She nearly yelled at the judge. She stopped herself to take a breath and calm herself so she wouldn't make a scene. "I am called here due to a pony saying that the legal parent is claimed 'unfit' to raise Scootaloo. Well I ask you, have you ever stopped to think why they claimed that? Did you ever think 'if they made that claim then we should find out why'? Now did you?" Rainbow pointed a hoof accusingly at the judge, who looked nervous. "We..did not." She said. "And why is that?" Dash asked. Her voice clearing showing that she had her argument 'in the bag'. "Because we ...were...busy." The judge clearly made an excuse. "Well you're not busy now." Rainbow pointed out. The judge seemed to have breathed a sigh of relief. "Have you not noticed how unclean this stallion. He smells of alcohol." The court sent a pony over. He smelled the air and quickly held his nose while waving the air around him. "Hey didn't asked to be smelt." The stallion objected. "And poor Scootaloo has to sit right next to him." Dash said as Scootaloo slid her seat away from him slightly. By now, the court had seen her side of things. They had been so blinded by doing what was legal that they forgot to do what was actually right. "Alright. Order. Order!" The judge yelled as she smacked the mallet down. "There is one thing." The judge said. She looked over to Scootaloo. "So tell us, do you like living with your father?" Scootaloo shook her head. "Who would you rather live with, your father or Rainbow Dash?" Scootaloo muttered out "Rainbow Dash." "Why are you so quiet?" "I'm just nervous I guess." Scootaloo said as sweat trickled down her forehead. As she wiped it away with her hoof, Rainbow noticed how Scootaloo winced at contact from her own hoof. "Hold on." Dash said as she went up to Scootaloo. With a steady hoof, she lifted up Scootaloos mane and gasped at what she saw. A dark, purple bruise. The guard stationed in the courtroom came over to see along with the pony that was asking Scootaloo the questions. After staring at the bruise, the guard asked "Who did it?" Scootaloo pointed a hoof at her father. "Take him away!" The judge yelled. The guard made no hesitation. "NO! She's my daughter!" He yelled as he was dragged out of the courtroom. "Now we have something that I know you won't be happy with." The judge said to Rainbow. "What?" "Law states that only a stallion can raise foals alone." The judge said. "WHAT!" Dash yelled. Scootaloo nearly broke in tears as the judge informed her mom about the law. "Unless you can find a stallion right now to raise Scootaloo with you, she will go to a foster home." Rainbow Dash began to sweat furiously as she realized how hopeless it was for her to find a stallion right at this very- "I'll do it." Rainbow turned her head and almost fainted. Soarin had said those words. "Really, a Wonderbolt?" The judge said. "Well we are team mates. But I'm willing to help Dashie here raise her foal." He said as he walked up and put a hoof around her. "Well Rainbow Dash, are you okay with thi-" "YES!" She yelled The tone saying 'I've had it with all of this.' Soarin, Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo burst out of the courtroom happily. The papers were signed making Soarin and Rainbow Dash the legal guardians of Scootaloo. "Finally." Rainbow Dash said as they all stopped to rest. Scootaloo through her hooves around her mother. Rainbow Dash had a tear spill from her right eye as she held her daughter. "Welcome home. Scootaloo." She said. "Well come on. Lets go home." Soarin said as he nuzzled Rainbow Dash. "Yeah. Mom, I have a surprise for you." Scootaloo said as Soarin and Rainbow Dash began to hover with their wings. "Well what?" Scootaloo began to focus. Suddenly her wings began to flap rapidly. Suddenly, Scootaloo could feel the ground beneath her fall away. "You can actually FLY!" Rainbow Dash said in shock. "I taught myself." Scootaloo said happily as she flew up to her parents. With one hoof, she reached out to her mother, who had been there since the start. Rainbow Dash took it in hers. Scootaloo reached out towards Soarin. He was shocked at first since he thought Scootaloo would be with her mother. He hardly knew her. Yet she was willing to accept him for father. The thought made Soarins heart flutter as he took her hoof. With the new family together, thy took off to there new home as the sun set. Making way for a new beginning. > Authors notes and looking for OCs. > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- You're probably pissed so let me clear something up. This story was intended to be short. When I thought of it back in January, I knew it wouldn't be long. Honestly, I've been feeling like shot lately. If you can see it in the writing then well now you know. Despite how crappy I've been feeling, I want to thanks the two groups that added my story. Thanks guys. [[[Fun Fact]]] This story was slightly based of the movie Evelyn I hardly remember any of it since I watched it in English class last year and I even left class early to go to a dentist appointment. (And get my copy of Mass Effect 3) This was over a year ago. The ending was based off the good ending of Dead Rising 2. No one noticed that whenever I typed 'Rainbow' for short, I always followed it up with 'Dash' [[[[Special Message]]]] I am currently looking for human OCs for an upcoming story. A blog post on my profile will explain all.
