> Into the Everfree of Fireflies' Light > by xFluffers > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > I Met You > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "There we go..." Twilight Sparkle sighed in relief. She levitated the backpack next to the door, as if the purple pony was about to leave. Twilight was ready to start a new summer adventure at her big brother's place. She went back to her room to get the ticket to Ponyville. Soon, her mother came from the kitchen. "Make sure you listen to your big brother." she said. Twilight's mother was always the worrywart, although she was a great mother - caring and loving. "Yeah." Twilight nodded. "Do you have your handkerchief? Your ticket? A nice pair of shoes?" the mother kept questioning her daughter. Twilight came back with the ticket and put her backpack on. "Wait, don't tell me that's all you're going to take?" her mother had a worried look on her face. "Mom! Don't worry! I've got everything I need." Twilight laughed and shook her backpack. "Make sure you don't forget your luggage on the Pony Express, okay?" her mother started to get on Twilight's nerves. "Don't zone out and miss your stop.". "Yeah, I got it already!" Twilight sighed and was about to leave, "jeez.. I've been going there every year, so i'll be alright, mother." That's true. Twilight has always visited her big brother - Shining Armor. Every summer she looked forward to it. Twilight turned the doorknob until her mother stopped her. "Hey, put on a hat. You'll get heat stroke." her mother was levitating her daughter's sunhat. Twilight ignored her and finally left the house. She waved at her mother who was standing next to the door, looking at her daughter leaving for the whole summertime again. Twilight ran back to her mother to hug her. She knew that her mother was dead worried, but she's always like that. They both smiled at each other, and Twilight ran back to the "Pony Express" train station. The first time I met her.. when I was still a young filly. On a hot summer day, I got lost in the Everfree forest, what was said to be where alicorn spirits lived. After around searching for an exit I became so tired I couldn't move. When I started crying from fear and loneliness, she appeared before me. "Hey, shorty!" a voice came out of nowhere. The young filly lifted her head up and looked around. She only saw trees and bushes surrounding her. Twilight kept looking around until she saw her. A beautiful, filled with darkness, yet elegance, alicorn. She wore a silver head helmet, her eyes shimmered and glowed behind the tree. Her mane was waving in the breeze, it shined, yet it looked soft. Twilight's eyes widened with happiness. "Why are you crying?" the alicorn questioned the young purple filly. Twilight's heart filled with relief and happiness. She stood up fast and rushed to the mysterious mare. "It's a pony! I'm saved!" she yelled and trotted towards the blue mare. Twilight kept running until she realized that the mare has already moved aside. The purple filly fell and slammed onto the ground. The young mare came up to Twilight and looked at her, bending her legs quite a bit. Twilight stood up once again and shook her head. She looked at the mysterious mare with an irritated look on her small face. "S-sorry.." the mare lowered her eyebrows, "You're.. a pony child, right?" Twilight looked curiously at the mare. "If a pony touches me, i'll disappear." she quoted. Twilight's eyes narrowed and so, she got confused. "If a pony..? You're not a pony?" she asked her. The blue-maned mare thought for a while. "I'm.. something that lives in this forest." she calmly answered. At first, Twilight didn't believe her at all, but then she felt a bursting bubble in her chest. It was bursting of amazement. The reason why Twilight went into the Everfree, was because she always wanted to meet one of those spirits. "What? Then... you're one of those spirits?" Twilight's eyes were filled with interest, "But... what do you mean by disappear?" The blue mare shook her head. A moment of silence came between Twilight and the alicorn. Twilight stood up and stretched her hand towards the mare, though, she immediately moved aside, avoiding Twilight's touch. Twilight Sparkle kept trying and even got up to run towards the mare again. She did that over and over until she felt pain in her head. After a moment, she realized that the alicorn has levitated a small piece of log, and hit Twilight's head. It seems that her patience has ran out. Twilight rubbed her head and cried out in pain. "Y-you're not really a pony after all.." she cried once again, "no pony would hit a child like that!" The blue pony lowered the log and finally spoke: "To disappear means to be obliterated. That's the spell that the God placed upon me." The alicorn lifted her head and waited for the young filly to say something. Though, Twilight waited for the mare to continue, and so she did. "If I get touched by a pony," the mare lowered her voice, "that's the end." Twilight understood the alicorn's feelings, so she felt incredibly guilty. "I-I'm sorry." she said in a soft voice. It didn't take a while until the mare has accepted Twilight's apology. "Here, shorty." the alicorn levitated the small log to the filly, that she used to hit Twilight, "grab the other end." Twilight immediately grabbed onto the log with her hoof. She felt the alicorn's magic aura surrounding the log. It was surprisingly warm. > I Waited for You > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "You're lost, aren't you?" the alicorn questioned Twilight. She wasn't quite fond of the young filly, but the more she talked to her, the more she grew interest in Twilight. "I'll lead you out of the forest." she spoke once again. Twilight made a wide smile on her face. She was happy. She was safe with her. "Thank you!" Twilight jumped in cheer and ran straight towards the mare again. Suddenly, she felt pain in her head. The alicorn hit her again. "Didn't I just tell you?" the mare sighed and looked at Twilight. "Sorry, I just.." Twilight grabbed her head in pain and cried. Soon, they had both come to an agreement. Twilight held tight against the log, that the alicorn kept levitating close to her. Twilight giggled on the way and quoted: "It's just like going on a date!" The mare snickered and kept quiet for a moment. "Not a very romantic one..." she finally replied. It surely did feel like a date, considering they both were trotting close to each other. Twilight kept smiling joyfully at the same time, looking at the ground - fearing to fall over and cause trouble to the blue mare again. The alicorn moved her head towards Twilight from time to time. She kept making sure, that the young filly was comfortable around her. She tried to start a conversation, since it was quite awkward for her to be in silence with the filly. Though, it was calming. Eventually she spoke again: "You... aren't afraid?" Twilight lifted her head up and looked at the alicorn with a confused look on her face. "Of what?" she simply asked the mare. "Never mind." the alicorn quietly mumbled. After a while, they've come to the end of Everfree. "If you go straight, you'll hit the path to your town." the alicorn informed Twilight and smiled at her. A warm light came in, once Twilight ran towards the path to Ponyville. For a minute, Twilight turned back to look at the spirit again. "Bye." the mare waved at the filly. Twilight's heart filled up with sadness. She grew so close to the alicorn spirit, that she feared to lose her and not see her ever again. "Are you always going to be here?" Twilight asked the spirit, "If I come back here, can we meet again?" The alicorn narrowed her eyes and hoped for the filly to run away. She didn't want to trouble another pony. That has always saddened her. Whenever a pony came into the forest, they'd never come back home. After all, there were evil spirits in Everfree too. The alicorn has always wanted to convince the ponies, that Everfree isn't as bad, as it seems. If she could, she'd always protect everyone, any time. Her appearance didn't say that, but her heart did. Eventually the alicorn had to say it if Twilight waited for her reply. "This is the Everfree forest where darkness travels, and spirits live." she started, "Set hoof within, and you'll lose your way and be lost forever." The mare lowered her head and continued: "You shouldn't come here." The wind shook the leaves off of trees. It was becoming chiller and dusk has arrived. Twilight knew that she had to go back, or her brother would be worried. "That's what the ponies say, right?" the alicorn ended. Twilight was about to run back to her big brother's house, but then she thought that he can wait. "I'm Twilight Sparkle," she smiled at the alicorn, "you?" The alicorn didn't want to be friends with Twilight, for the sake of her safety. She kept waiting for the young filly to move along. Though, the mare's heart was filled with despair, she wanted to see Twilight again. She was excited for finally having a friend. She couldn't wait for the adventures with her, that shall await. She couldn't wait to brighten her days up, that were filled with loneliness and sorrow. Twilight couldn't wait for the alicorn's answer anymore. "Anyway, I'll be back tomorrow with a thank-you present! Bye" she smiled while turning her head back to the pathway. "I'm Luna." Twilight heard her voice. She turned her head to see the alicorn for the last time, but the mare has long gone from Twilight's sight. Twilight was filled with excitement. She couldn't wait for the next day already! Though, there was a question bothering her since she met the spirit. But it didn't matter, as long as she was happy. She trotted along the path until she finally saw her big brother. "Twilight!" Shining Armor yelled and ran to her little sister. "Ah, big brother!" Twilight also ran towards Shining Armor and eventually held eachother tightly. Her big brother was very worried and feared that he may have lost her. On the other side, Twilight incredibly missed her big brother, even if she hasn't seen him for only a day. "Twilight, you idiot!" Shining Armor gently hit Twilight's head with his hoof. What's up with everyone hitting Twilight today?! She cried out again. Her head was pounding, since it has been hit several times. "if you go into the forest on your own and get hurt, what are you going to do?" her big brother tried to warn Twilight. She rushed up to Shining Armor and hugged him tightly. They soon walked back home together. "Big brother," Twilight started, "is it true that there are spirits living in that forest?". Shining Armor didn't expect that topic at all, but at least he was happy that Twilight could rely on him. "Who knows.." he casually replied to his sister, "When I was little, I wanted to meet the spirits, so Cadence and I often went into the forest.". Twilight was in awe. She never knew that her B.B.B.F.F. (Big Brother Best Friend Forever) was just like her, when he was a young colt.
