> Rarity's Transformation > by Rarityfan87 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Prologue: Impressing the Dragon King > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rarity's Transformation Written by Rarityfan87 It was a beautiful sunny morning in Ponyville today. It was the weekend and everyone was enjoying the day off. You could see some ponies sitting in the park enjoying the sunlight, some were getting their shopping done today, some were playing sports, and the fillies were playing their little games. It was peaceful for everpony except for one librarian. For her it was nerve racking due to a certain letter she received. “Dear Twilight Sparkle, The Dragons are coming to Canterlot to renew the peace treaty between the ponies and the dragons. Every year we choose to hold a show to impress the leader of the dragons. This year I chose you to represent the unicorns. I trust you will impress me according to how well you did during my lessons. I know this is going to be nerve racking for you. That is why I have sent Star Swirl the Bearded’s spell book. I want you to study the spell of your choice and that is the one you will use during the show. The show is in five days. Sincerely, Princess Celestia” “That’s great! You are the best unicorn around Twilight!” Spike said in his most excited voice as he hugged her. “Wow! I’m honored the princess chose me for such an important event. Spike! Clear my schedule, I need to work on this spell all week.” “If you say so, boss!” Spike said mocking Twilight. “I’ll pretend you weren’t mocking me. Now, let me get started on this book.” Twilight started going through the pages. There were many interesting spells, such as: Advanced fire balls, the power to conjure up a storm, turning a pony into a dragon, turning a dragon into a pony, turning any inanimate object invisible… “Wait! I will impress everypony and dragon by turning a pony into a dragon. I bet no one has ever attempted this spell!” Twilight said in excitement. “Hold on Twilight, are you sure the dragons would appreciate that? Don’t forget, they normally eat ponies, hence they might get offended if you turn a pony into a dragon.” “Don’t worry Spike, I will do a reverse spell, so the ‘dragon’ will turn back into a pony.” “If you say so Twilight. I just hope they won’t be offended.” “Don’t worry Spike they won’t.” Twilight started to read the procedures on how the spell works. This was the most advanced spell she has ever attempted. As she read, excitement kept building up in her. The thoughts of how everypony and dragon will be impressed, especially Princess Celestia. She wanted to make her mentor proud! With all these thoughts in mind, Twilight kept on reading. There was page after page after page of information about the spell, how to cast, what effects it might have, and how to reverse the spell. She was suddenly interrupted by Spike. “Twilight, supper is ready. Come on down.” “I’ll be right there!” Twilight yelled. Twilight book marked the page and put the book down. She couldn’t wait to continue reading it after supper. She made her way down the stairs and to the dining room table. She took a seat beside Spike. “Hey Twilight, how is the studying going?” “It’s going great, I already memorized one quarter of the spell. I plan on finishing tonight and hopefully start practicing tomorrow.” “That’s great. But one question, who are you going to practice on?” “I’m not sure. I’ll figure it out tomorrow, right now I need to memorize the spell before I can start practicing it.” “You’re such an egghead!” Spike said giggling. “Haha very funny Spike!” Twilight started giggling as well. The two finished eating supper. As Spike was about to go in the kitchen to wash the dishes, Twilight interrupted him. “That was great Spike, well done. I’ll be upstairs reading my book, call me if you need anything.” “Will do.” Spike heard Twilight walking upstairs into the room. He washed the dishes and decided to sit by the fireplace and relax. He started thinking about Rarity. He started thinking about the time he was going to spend with Rarity tomorrow. I can’t wait for tomorrow, I get to spend time with the most beautiful pony in Equestria… No, the whole world. I always enjoy my time with her. No matter what we’re doing. Even if it’s just sitting beside her at Twilight’s picnics when she invites the other five. Or walking beside her, we don’t even have to talk; just being near her is enjoyable. And, of course her beauty. That perfect, purple mane. Always curled perfectly. Those beautiful sapphire blue eyes and her soft white fur. She couldn’t be any more perfect. I would love to ask her out, but I will wait for the right moment. I only have one real shot at this, and I don’t want to take any chances… Spike was suddenly interrupted by Twilight. “Hey Spike, what are you up to? I finished memorizing the spell.” Twilight asked, taking a seat next to Spike. “I was thinking about…” “Yes, Spike?” “Well, it’s embarrassing.” “You can trust me Spike, as your sister/mother.” “Alright, I was thinking about Rarity, and how one day I will ask her out.” “Don’t be embarrassed Spike, it’s natural to think about the girl you’re in love with. And I trust you’ll ask her out at the perfect moment.” Twilight pulled Spike into a hug. “Thank you Twilight.” Spike returned the hug. They sat there together, enjoying each others company, something they hardly had time to do. Twilight being busy with Princess Celestia’s lessons, and Spike doing the usual chores, taking care of the library when Twilight had to go to Canterlot, and of course helping all his friends… especially Rarity. Twilight eventually looked at the time. “We better go to bed Spike, it’s getting late, and you don’t want to be late to help Rarity tomorrow.” “You’re right Twilight.” Twilight got up first and started walking towards the stairs. As she was walking she was interrupted by Spike. “Hey Twilight…” “Yes Spike?” “Thank you for spending time with me, and giving me that advice. I find we hardly get to spend time together anymore.” “I enjoy spending time with you too Spike. And you’re welcome. I agree we hardly get to spend time together anymore. I think after the whole peace treaty, we should take a vacation. How does that sound?” “It sounds great, I can’t wait!” “But first, we should really get to bed.” “Alright Twilight.” Spike followed Twilight up the stairs and into their bedroom. Spike jumped in his basket and got comfy. Twilight walked up to him. “Are you not going to say goodnight?” “Oops, sorry Twilight. Goodnight!” “Goodnight Spike.” Twilight gave him a goodnight kiss on the cheek. Twilight also jumped in her bed and got comfy. After only a few minutes, snoring could be heard coming from the bedroom. *The Next Morning* Twilight was woken up by the gentle sunlight shining through the window. She slowly got up, and noticed Spike was still asleep. “Wake up Spike, time to make breakfast.” “In a few minutes Twilight…” Spike said as rolled to his side. “You don’t want to be late for Rarity now do you?” “Alright, I’m up, I’m up!” Spike said as he got out of bed, wiping his eyes. “Works every time!” “Well, you know how Rarity gets if someone is late.” “You have a point. Well come with me, let’s make breakfast, then we’ll get our chores done.” Spike followed Twilight down the staircase and into the kitchen. Spike wanted to start on the chores as fast as possible, so he decided to just have a bowl of gems. As for Twilight… “Spike, can you warm up my oatmeal please.” Twilight asked, placing the bowl on the fire proof counter. “Sure thing Twilight!” Spike made sure to use his dragon fire breath. He wouldn’t want to accidentally send Twilight’s oatmeal to Princess Celestia. “Thanks Spike.” Twilight used her magic to bring the bowl to the table with her. Spike took a seat next to Twilight. “So what chores need to be done today?” “Well, we need to: dust the shelves, put the stranded books in their spots and that should be it.” “Piece of cake!” “As for me, I want to go through that book again, and make sure I know the spell by heart.” “Sounds good.” Spike and Twilight finished their breakfast. Spike helped Twilight wash the dishes. They made their way to the main room of the library. Spike did the chores as he was asked. When suddenly, he was interrupted by a knock at the door. “I’ll get it Spike yelled!” Spike opened the door to see the most beautiful pony in the world, Rarity. “Hello Spike.” “Hello Rarity, please come in.” “Why thank you Spike.” Rarity walked in, Spike closed the door behind her. Rarity took a seat on the couch. “Can I get you anything to drink Rarity?” “No thank you I’m good, thanks for asking.” Spike took a seat beside Rarity. “So what brings you here today Rarity?” “Well Spike, I wanted to come and pick you up, since I had to pick up a few items near here.” “That’s sounds fine to me, let me just finish my chores and let Twilight know you’re here.” “Of course Spike. I hope I didn’t interrupt you.” “Of course not! I always enjoy your company, as friends.” “I’m glad to hear that Spike.” “I will be right back.” “Sure thing Spike.” Spike walked to the bedroom. Spike knocked on the door. “Come in!” Spike opened the door. “Hey Twilight, Rarity is here.” “Thanks for letting me know, I’ll be right down.” “Okay.” Twilight put the bookmark in her book, and walked down the stairs into the living room. “Hi Rarity, sorry I wasn’t here earlier, I didn’t hear you.” “That is alright Twilight. How have you been?” “I’ve been okay, I’m kind of stressed out though. I’m putting on a show for the dragon king, for the next signature for peace between the dragons and ponies. I’m learning a spell directly from Star Swirl the Bearded’s book. How about you?” “WHAT! You’re going to put on a show!? Can I come?” “Of course! All I need is someone to prac…” Twilight gave an interested look at Rarity. “Twilight, why are you giving me that look…?” “Rarity, would you mind if I practiced the spell on you?” “Wait… What spell is it exactly?” “Turning a pony into a dragon and back…” “I would be glad to help, on one condition.” “Name it!” “I get to be the star of the show.” “Deal! Now when can we start?” “Well, how about today? You wouldn’t mind would you Spike?” “Of course not. In fact, I’ll be there to support you guys.” “That sounds great. Let us get started.” For the next three days, Twilight practiced on Rarity. At first it took her a few tries to turn her into a dragon and then back into a pony, but eventually she could do it without too much trouble. Before they knew it, it was the day of the event... "Oh my gosh, today's the day. Spike let's go through the checklist to make sure we have everything." "Spell Book, check. Quills and paper to record the events, check. Rarity, not here yet. And trusty faithful assistant Spike, check. All we're missing is Rarity." "Hurry up Rarity, we don't want to be late." A few moments later there was a knock at the door. "I'll get it." Spike answered. It was the beautiful and dazzling Rarity at the door. "You look beautiful Rarity!" "Thank you Spike, I know I wore this at the Gala already, but it is just dashing!" "Please come in, we're waiting for the chariot." "Why thank you." "Twilight, Rarity is here." Spike yelled. Hoof steps could be heard coming down the stairs. "Hi Rarity, are you ready?" "I am ready for my audience!" "Good." "Are you feeling alright Twilight?" "Yes, I'm just a little nervous. This is the biggest event in my life to date." "Relax, you'll do fine." Spike reassured Twilight. "Thank you Spike. You're always there for me." "Of course, I love you like a mom/sister Twilight." "Get over here!" Twilight used her magic to levitate Spike in her hooves to hug him. They were interrupted by a knock at the door. "Hello, Miss Twilight, we are here to bring you, Rarity and Spike to Canterlot." "We'll be right out. Alright let's get going guys." They made their way to the Chariot. Spike held the door open for the both of them. They made their to Canterlot, with just enough time to get ready for the show. “Mares and Gentlecolts! Welcome to the event that only happens every few centuries! Please welcome the Great Huffy, king of the dragons." Everypony started to applaud. "Thank you everypony. I am glad to be here today. Normally, we hate ponies, but today is different. Today we celebrate each others races, and continue to keep peace between us. I now will let your Princess Celestia continue talking." "Thank you Huffy. Today is the day, the dragons and ponies sign a waver to keep peace between us in the land of Equestria, for another century. For our first presentation, we have Twilight Sparkle performing a spell from Star Swirl the Bearded’s book on Rarity Belle. I now present you Twilight Sparkle and Rarity Belle.” “Good luck you guys!” “Thank you Spike, let’s do this Twilight.” “Let’s go, after you Rarity!” Rarity followed by Twilight walked out onto the stage. All that could be heard was the applause from the crowd and the dragons. They positioned themselves on the stage. “Are you ready Rarity?” “Ready!” Twilight wasn’t feeling as energized as she did when she was practicing, so she decided to turn Rarity into only a baby dragon. Here we go. Twilight cast the spell. A bright lavender glow was all that could be seen. When the glow settled down, Rarity was there… In the form of a baby dragon! Everypony and dragon started clapping and cheering. The Dragon King spoke. “I am very impressed with your spell young one. Please continue.” Huffy said, clapping. “Thank you your majesty! I will continue to do my best to impress you.” This is it, like you practiced Twilight! Twilight prepared the spell. Again, all that could be seen was a bright lavender glow. When it cleared up, all that could be seen was… Baby Rarity. What went wrong!? Twilight thought. Twilight cast the spell again. The same result occurred. I don’t understand. I know dragons are immune to some magic. But it worked earlier when we practiced. Unless… Twilight was interrupted by the crowd gasping. Before anypony knew it, Rarity ran away in fear. “Wait Rarity, I can fix this!” Twilight yelled running after her. Eventually Twilight lost her. She ran back to Spike and they went to talk to Princess Celestia. Twilight explained everything to her. “I’m going to try to find Rarity, Twilight.” “Alright, just be careful Spike, she’s a dragon now, she’s much stronger, who knows what she could do when she's afraid." "Will do Twilight." “Okay Spike, I will go and explain what happened to King Huffy and Princess Celestia.” Spike ran off in the direction ran off in, and Twilight walked towards Princess Celestia and King Huffy. > Chapter 1: The Search for Rarity > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike ran off in Rarity’s direction. His heart was beating at a rapid pace, his legs were moving at ludicrous speed. As he was running, he was constantly looking left and right, in every alleyway and every opening. After about ten minutes of running, he could hear crying from an alleyway behind what seemed to be an abandoned building. Hoping it was Rarity, he took a look. His hopes were not for nothing, there she was just as beautiful as ever, only as a baby dragon. Spike was admiring her purple and white scales, her purple spines and spikes, her sharp claws and her stunning sapphire blue eyes. While Spike was admiring her, she finally noticed him. “Spike, am I ever happy to see a friendly face!” Rarity said as she ran up to hug him. Spike returned the hug, happy he found her safe and sound. Letting go of him, Rarity asked Spike in a serious tone. “Twilight didn’t follow you did she?” “No she stayed behind to talk to the princesses.” “This is all her fault! I would still be a pony if it wasn’t for her!” Rarity’s face was turning red with rage. “Hold on Rarity, I think I know why it didn’t work out properly...” *Earlier that day at the assembly* Twilight ran up to talk to the princesses. Chaos was ensuing, ponies were running in all directions, panicking about how the dragons would react. The dragons were sitting there, waiting for their king to give them an order. Twilight met up with the princesses and King Huffy. “Your majesty and princesses, I just... I just... don’t know wh... at went wrong.” Twilight said disappointed in herself. “I guess I’m not a great student after all.” “That’s not true Twilight, you are one of my best students. This is all my fault, I shouldn’t have given you the hard task of learning a spell from the Star Swirl the Bearded, in such a short amount of time.” “You are very kind princess, and don’t blame yourself for everything, you are the best teacher in Equestria.” “That is very kind of you to say my faithful student. I guess the lesson here is everypony makes mistakes. Right now though, we need to fix this one before the situation gets out of hand.” “Agreed.” King Huffy spoke. “I will tell my subjects to continue to follow the rules of the treaty until we can meet again.” King Huffy walked up to his subjects. “Loyal subjects, I require your immediate attention. You are ordered to leave these ponies alone until further notice. The treaty is going to be moved to a later date due to ‘technical’ difficulties. You are free to go back to your homes.” The dragons obeyed and flew off towards they’re homes. “Come with Luna and I Twilight, and we will find a spell to turn Rarity back into a pony. We will also send Spike a letter to let him know what the situation is, and ask him if he’s found Rarity.” “I’ll be off Celestia, just contact me when this ordeal has been sorted out.” “For sure Huffy, thank you for understanding.” “No problem, see you later.” King Huffy flew off in the same direction as the other dragons. “Alright, lead the way princess.” *Back to Spike and Rarity* “That’s the reason why I suspect Twilight wasn’t able to turn you back into a pony like the two of you practiced.” “I’m still angry with her! I can’t go around looking like this, you have no problem with it, but the others will probably lose all respect for me.” Rarity replied, tears sliding down her cheeks. Spike walked up beside her and put one arm around her, making soft round motions on her back. He let her lean her head against his, wanting to comfort her in her time of need. “It’s alright Rarity, I’ll stay here by your side. I’ll inform Twilight that I’m still searching for you and that I won’t be home until I find you…” “No Spike, tell her the truth. About how I don’t want to be seen, that you found me and that you want to stay with me, according to your own words.” “Alright, I will do that Rarity.” Spike pulled out a piece of paper from his ‘pouch’ and made a small cut on his arm and started to write the letter. Dear Twilight, I have found Rarity, but she wishes not to be seen, for that reason I won’t be able to give you our location. Do not worry Twilight, I’m going to stay here with Rarity and help her through this. I promise to keep in contact with you. PS: The reason I wrote this in blood is because I didn’t have quill and ink. I don’t have any damage anywhere, so don’t worry. Sincerely, Spike Spike sent the letter to Princess Celestia with his sending flames. They both watched as it disintegrated in the air and flew away. > Chapter 2: The Cure > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- *That same night* Twilight and both princesses teleported to Canterlot castle’s main entrance. The three made their way to the throne room and started to talk. “It’s getting late, let’s get some rest and we’ll figure all of this out tomorrow, first thing in the morning.” Princess Luna spoke, giving a big yawn. “Agreed sister, we need our rest if we are to solve this…” Princess Celestia was interrupted by a letter appearing in front of her. She opened the letter and saw it was for Twilight. “Twilight, this letter is for you.” Twilight grabbed the letter with her magic, and read it. “It’s from Spike, he said he found Rarity, and that he’s going to stay with her in her time of need. The only thing that worries me, is that he won’t tell me where they are.” “You must not worry Twilight, Spike is safe, and he has Rarity there to help him if he’s ever in danger. Besides, it will help Rarity with her situation if she’s around another baby dragon until we can find a cure.” “You’re right princess, besides they’re both fire breathing dragons, they can easily take care of themselves. Hopefully the citizens won’t get scared and turn on them…” *Back to Spike and Rarity* “I think it’s time we get some rest Rarity, tomorrow is going to be a big day, for you, since you’ll be getting used to this body until we can turn you back into your usual self.” “You’re right Spike.” Spike allowed Rarity to lay her head on his chest. She enjoyed the warmth coming off of it. Spike put an arm around her. He fell asleep not too long after along with Rarity. That night, he dreamt about spending time with Rarity. *The next morning* Spike woke up first. He noticed tears going down her cheeks. He gave her kiss on the cheek, causing her to wake up. “What’s wrong Rarity?” “What do you mean Spike?” “I noticed some tears on your cheeks.” “Oh…” “What is it Rarity?” “Well I had a nightmare, where Twilight and Princess Celestia couldn’t find a way to turn me back, and I became a reject of society. Everybody was mocking me, calling me names and even Sweetie Belle wouldn’t come near me. She was teased so much she hanged herself. My parents blamed me for everything, and disowned me. You wanted to stay with me, but Twilight forced you to move in with her in Canterlot. So I was literally alone, with no one who loved me, and no family. My business was destroyed and burnt down. I was all alone in the Everfree forest, known as a monster.” Rarity couldn’t hold her tears back as she was telling this to Spike. Spike also had some tears flowing, he hugged Rarity and whispered in her ear. “I would never leave you in that situation, no matter what Twilight or anypony said.” “It felt so real, that’s what scared me.” "Don't worry Rarity, I'll always be here for you. I'm sure they will find a cure for you. There are tons and tons of spell books in the Canterlot library, at least one will have a cure." "You're right Spike. I shouldn't worry, they must have a spell. Thanks Spike." Rarity said giving him a soft kiss on the lips. They both blushed due to her action. Spike changed the subject not wanting it to turn into an awkward moment. “Well, it’s morning, we might as well get something to eat.” “That sounds like a good idea. Where should we go?” “Hold on there Rarity, ponies are not used to your new form yet, they might get scared. Let me go and get the food and I’ll bring it back.” “No Spike, I’m coming with you, ponies will just have to get used to me.” “Yes, but they might report that they found you to Princess Celestia and then they would bring you to the Canterlot Castle. Which if I remember clearly you wanted to avoid.” Spike said giving her a smirk. “You have a point there Spike. Fine, but please don’t be too long. You know it is rude to make a lady wait.” “Alright, don’t have fun without me!” “Very funny Spike.” *Back at the Canterlot Castle* Twilight woke up to a gorgeous sun. As she got out of bed, she saw the note from last night from Spike. She started to worry about him and Rarity. I really hope they’re alright. Spike has never had to take care of another dragon before, hopefully he’ll know what to do. At least most of the ponies know of him and won’t be scared of threatened when they see him, Rarity on the other hand… I must not think these thoughts, I need to think positively! They are safe, and that’s all that matters. I just hope we can find another reversal spell soon, I’m sure Rarity hates being stuck as a baby dragon. I don’t want to imagine having to tell her it’s permanent… Twilight was interrupted by a knock at the door. *Knock, knock. “Twilight, may I come in?” Princess Luna asked. “Come in.” The door was surrounded by Luna’s signature blue aura as it opened. Luna walked up to Twilight. “Good morning Twilight, how are you feeling today?” “I’m alright, I’m worried about Spike and Rarity though. Hopefully we can find a reversal spell.” “There is no need to worry Twilight, I’m sure we’ll be able to find one, we have over one thousand spell books in the library. There most definitely will be one with the answer we are looking for.” “You’re right princess.” “Come Twilight, breakfast is ready, we shall continue our discussion in the library with my sister.” “Sounds good, I am feeling hungry.” Princess Luna guided Twilight towards the dining hall. “Hello Luna and Twilight, let us have some breakfast and we will get started on looking for the reverse spell.” “Sounds good to me!” The three enjoyed some oatmeal with fresh berries and milk. The three finished quickly wanting to get an early start on finding the spell and wanting to figure what went wrong that day. When they finished Princess Celestia guided them to the library and they started to search for a book. As they were going through, Twilight continued to search through Star Swirl the Bearded’s book in case she missed something. As she was going through the pages, something caught her attention. “The reversal spell can only work if there isn’t any sort of magic obstruction in the area. To use it, make sure you clear the area of any magical barriers and distortions of any kind. Also, the spell will be permanent if it is not reversed within five days of the transformation.” “Did you hear that princesses?” “We did Twilight, so that means that the presence of the dragons prevented you from using that spell. That is interesting that the spell has such a big limitation.” “Indeed sister.” “Well this is great news! I’m going to write a letter to let Spike know.” “Of course Twilight. Just write the letter and I will send it to Spike.” “Alright.” Dear Spike, We found out why the reversal spell didn’t work. It turns out it doesn’t work out if there is a magical obstruction in the area. Considering the amount of dragons there, we came to the conclusion that, that is the reason it didn’t work out. Enough of that, I request that you and Rarity make your way here as soon as possible. If you wait more than five days, the spell will be permanent. Please hurry. Your worried friend. Twilight Sparkle Twilight sealed the letter and passed it to Princess Celestia. Celestia sent the letter off with her magic to Spike. *Back to Spike and Rarity* “Hey Rarity, I got us some nice fresh berries for breakfast.” “They look delectable Spike. I can’t wait to have some.” As Spike put the bowl down, he could feel a letter in his throat. Spitting it out, he read it. “Great news Rarity, Twilight found a cure. Bad news is, we have five days from the transformation otherwise it’s permanent. In other words, we have four days.” “That’s great news!” “It is! I think we should start making our way there tonight after the ponies go to sleep and we’ll sneak our way there, as not to alert the ponies.” “Wouldn’t they know it’s me though Spike? After all they saw what happened to me at the assembly. They know about it.” “Yes, but you never know if one of them would kidnap you and bring you back for a ransom. We wouldn’t want that now would we?” “You do have a point Spike. Alright tonight, we make our way to Canterlot Castle.” > Chapter 3: Making Their Way to the Castle > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Night had fallen, and the two were getting ready to make their way to the castle. “Alright Rarity, hold my hand, we need to stick together.” “Are you sure this isn’t a gimmick that will eventually end in a kiss?” “I wasn’t planning on it, unless you’re interested.” “Maybe I am, what would you do then?” “Well then, I would do this.” Before she could respond, Spike gave her a quick kiss. “Well Spike, I like the answer.” “I thought you would, but let’s get to the castle, we can continue that later if you’re still interested.” “You’re right let’s get going.” Spike went forward first, looking all around, making sure they were alone. He then gave a gentle tug, letting Rarity know it was safe. They continued to make their way there, having small conversations on the way. “So Rarity how does it feel, having to no longer be stuck in a dragon’s body?” “Well I’ll be a little sad, as since I’ve received it, I like the idea of being immune to fire, having sharp claws that I can use to defend myself. It’s also nice to be able to breathe fire, it could help me with my business with the ability to make jewelry now with gold. At the same time, I would like my old body back. I am so used to doing everything as a pony. At the same time, it’s nice having hands, I can do so many things I couldn’t normally do with hooves.” “Well it looks like you’ll to think about what you want to be.” “Well what do you think I should do Spike?” “I think you should do what your mind and heart say.” “You’re right Spike… wait I think I hear a noise.” “Quick, hide behind this bush.” The two jumped behind the bush. They kept their eyes above the bush, curious as to what caused the noise. They noticed it was just a pony wandering the streets, the both of them let out a sigh of relief. As soon as he went around the corner, and the hoof steps were silent, they continued making their way to the castle. “Spike, can I tell you something?” “Sure thing Rarity, what is it?” “Now that I’ve walked into the shoes of a dragon, I’ve gained more respect for you and maybe a little more feelings towards you.” “Really?” “Yes Spike.” “That’s interesting.” “What do you mean?” “Well when you were a pony, you didn’t share those feelings, but somehow, when you were in a situation somewhat like mine, you all of a sudden start to slightly share the same feelings for me. I hate to say this, but I think you’re lying, I think there’s more to it.” “How could you…” “Don’t lie to me Rarity.” “Well you’re right there is more to it. After seeing all that you did for me, how you were taking care of me, how you were there to comfort me and how you were there showing me that you would do anything for me, I couldn’t help but start to think about us, and how you seemed to be a good choice. By being you, I realized you’re worth more than just friends.” “That’s nice to hear Rarity, but I need time to think about this. I want to make sure it’s not just the dragon side of you saying this.” “I understand Spike, I’ll give you until they transform me. If you choose for me to stay as a dragon, I will stay with you, but if you choose for me to become a pony, I will take it as you don’t want to take it further.” “What if I want you to become a pony but want to give us a chance?” “Well it would be harder to do that, as being a pony would shorten my lifespan a lot. Whereas if I were a dragon we could be together a lot longer. Also I hate to say this, but it would be strange, a pony dating a dragon.” “You make a good point. Until then, I will think about what to decide.” They made it a little further, when suddenly the castle was in site. “Hey Rarity, we’re almost there, just a little longer.” “Alright Spike, I’m right behind you.” They made their way to the guards at the door. “Hey Spike, hey Rarity. Twilight and the others are waiting for you inside the throne room.” “Thank you.” Spike guided Rarity in, as they made their way in the centre, they heard the doors shutting behind them. “Well Rarity, it looks like this is it.” “It seems so. Here’s a little something before the big decision tomorrow.” Rarity gave Spike a passionate kiss on the lips. Spike returned it immediately, wanting to enjoy the moment while it lasted, seeing as this may be his last. “I’ll see you tomorrow for the big moment, I know where the throne room is.” “I’ll see you tomorrow.” Rarity made her way towards the throne room. Well now’s the time, make your decision Spike. > Chapter 4 Ending 1: Spike's Decision > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike had made his decision, it was time he made his way to Rarity. As he was making his way to the throne room, memories from his years of living here with Twilight flooded his mind. Never would he have guessed this place would be the place he has to make one of the biggest decision of his life involving love. Quickly coming back to reality from his nostalgia moment, he hurried to the throne room. Once he entered, he saw Rarity, Twilight Sparkle, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. “Spike!” Twilight ran up to hug him. “Hey Twilight, I missed you too!” Spike returned the hug. “I’m glad you made it back here safe. I worried about you two.” “I knew you were.” Spike gave a small smile. Suddenly Rarity interrupted the two. “Well Spike, have you made your decision?” Spike sighed. “Yes I have Rarity…” “Well quickly, what is it?” Rarity was nervous, she was hoping he’d pick the right answer. “I decided… that you should return to your former self…” Everypony had a look of shock on their faces. “Wha… wha… what made you decide that Spike?” Rarity was upset, and also slightly angry with his decision. “To be honest Rarity, I took a long deep thought about it, and I don’t feel your love is sincere. I think it’s the dragon side of you saying this, I don’t think the normal Rarity feels that. I know they say that one should give it a shot rather than just saying no, but in this case, you would be stuck as a dragon, and I couldn’t leave you with that burden. All I can say is, I hope you will still accept my friendship.” “Of course I accept your friendship, but just know this. Part of me will always be depressed and sad, not knowing if it would have worked out. I love you Spike.” Rarity walked up to Spike and gave him one last passionate kiss on the lips. “Alright, I’m ready to become a pony again.” “Alright you two, let’s form a triangle position around her, and cast the spell on my mark.” Princess Luna announced. The three got into position. “Three, two… one… now!” The room was filled with a bright flashing light, coming from the concentrated spell. When the room was back to normal again, everypony and Spike looked at Rarity. It was successful, she was back into her normal form. Everypony breathed with a sigh of relief. Rarity was excited to be back to her normal self. “I’m so relieved it worked! I can now go back to my normal life, in Ponyville. Thank you princesses and Twilight.” “It was our pleasure Rarity.” Twilight smiled. “Now, all three of us should make our way home, now that everything is back to normal.” *One year later* Spike was at Rarity’s house, helping her with her dresses. They were on the last one, and were hurrying to get it done, so they could call it a night. It only took them another thirty minutes and they were done. “Done, finally! That was the biggest order I think you’ve received yet, since I’ve been helping you.” Spike said, breathing hard from exhaustion. “I’m glad it’s done as well. I’m exhausted!” Rarity replied, breathing hard as well form exhaustion. “Can you believe it’s already been one year since your dragon incident?” “Time sure flies Spike.” “No kidding. I’m just glad after the incident, we’re still great friends.” “So am I Spike.” Rarity lied. To this day, Rarity is still depressed, over not knowing if it would have worked out between the two. THE END > Chapter 5 Ending 2: Spike's Decision > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike had made his decision, it was time he made his way to Rarity. “Well Spike, have you made your decision?” Spike took a deep breath, he was worried about how Rarity would react to what he was about to say. I hope this works… Spike took another deep breath. It calmed him down enough to think of what he was about to say. “I have made a decision Rarity…” “Well, what is it?” “I think you should transform back to your normal form.” Spike waited, expecting anger from Rarity. To his surprise the room stayed silent, Rarity looking at him with disappointment, but spoke no words. After about five minutes of silence Rarity spoke. “Spike, do you not love me? Did you have a change of heart? I thought you loved me.” Rarity felt hurt and disappointment, she hoped he would have said yes. “I do Rarity!” Spike quickly responded. “Then why did you choose not to try?” “I never said that.” “Yes you did, we talked earlier, remember?” “I do! What I’m wondering is, do YOU really love me?” “WHAT! Of course I do! How could you ask such a thing!?” Rarity asked, with an angry tone. “Then why did you put those conditions on your so called “love” for me?” “I already explained Spike…” “You weren’t really thinking now were you Rarity?” “…” Rarity was speechless. “If you truly loved me Rarity, you would not have the conditions you did.” “But Spike, what about the other ponies, what would they think?” “Do you really care about what they think?” “Well…” “Who cares what they think! If you truly love someone, you’d try everything to be with them. Do you think I cared about what the others thought of me all those times I tried in the past? No! All I cared about, was being with you, at your side. All my devotion wanting to be your special-dragon. I’m sure the other ponies got used to the thought after a while, it’s not like stranger haven’t happened around here. I realize that I will live on much longer, but don’t you think I’ve thought about it before? I have, and I’m okay with that, as long as this event happens in my life, I will happy until the day of my death. So… I ask you Rarity, what is YOUR decision?” Spike was shocked at how much he just said, he didn’t expect to say that much. Never the less, he looked at Rarity in the eyes, waiting for her decision. Rarity looked into his eyes, she could see that he was sincere with what he just said. She started to feel horrible, how could she put a condition on him like that? Thinking about what Spike said about true love, made her shed a few tears. She treated Spike horribly all this time, and now this was the final chance to make things right. Rarity took a deep breath, continued to look at Spike in the eyes, and said. “You’re right Spike, I shouldn’t have put those limitations, I want to apologize Spike. I’ve treated you horribly over the years, teasing you when your love was genuine. I’m sorry Spike, and I’ve realized that I want to give it a try. I want to be your special-mare.” Rarity smiled. “I accept your apology Rarity. I accept your offer. Now let’s get you back to normal and go back home.” Spike said excitedly. “Alright Twilight and sister let’s do this!” Luna said excited. The three stood in a triangular pattern around Rarity, they charged the spell, and upon release, all you could see was a white flash of light. The light settled a few minutes later and Rarity was back to her familiar self. She ran up to Spike. “I love you Spike!” She gave him a passionate kiss on the lips. Spike returned the kiss. “I love you too Rarity.” “Hey you two, get a room!” Twilight teased, giggling under her breath. “Jealous Twilight?” Spike teased Twilight back. “Me? No. I have my books, and research, that’s good enough for me.” The two started laughing. “Alright Rarity, let’s go home.” “Let us Spike.” *One year later* Twilight Sparkle moved into Canterlot Castle (spending most of her time in the library) to further her studies with Princess Celestia, and now with her great friend Princess Luna. As for Rarity and Spike, they now live together, the library was given to the town of Ponyville. The end.
