What Would Rainbow Dash Do...

“Zecora! Zecora!" Scootaloo shouted as she bolted on her scooter towards the zebra’s hut. The gust flowing through Scootaloo’s mane slowly ceased as Scootaloo began to brake. The school filly hopped off of her scooter and charged inside Zecora’s house, dragging along an axe that she had brought with her. “Zecora!” Upon rushing into the hut, Scootaloo was greeted by Zecora.

“Oh, why hello Scootaloo. What is it that I can---”

Scootaloo, leaking with anxious energy, interrupted Zecora before she could complete her usual rhyming couplet. “Zecora, I need a favor! Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle, and I were thinking about what to do for our cutie marks today when Rainbow Dash (OHMAGOSHSHEISSOOOOOAWESOME) flew by and suggested that we all have a race since a race always makes her go her fastest so we all said ‘YEAH’ and now the first one to do ten different tasks wins a cupcake from Sugarcube Corner from the other two but I don’t really want the cupcakes but if I win then Rainbow Dash will see how fast I am and want me to be her sister!” The breathless filly collapsed on the floor, panting heavily after her long winded explanation. Still winded, Scootaloo huffed, “So. What. Do you. say?”

Zecora grinned and replied, “You have not told me what you want, but I bet I can guess by what you flaunt. I saw the axe you had when you came in hopping; my guess is that you want to do some wood chopping.” Zecora smiled victoriously, proud of her small deduction.

Scootaloo stared at Zecora for a minute with a bewildered smirk. “Wood chopping?” Scootaloo scoffed. “Wood chopping is a silly idea! I’m here to do some snow shoveling.”

Zecora returned Scootaloo's baffled stare. “Snow shoveling is not the best way to go, for as you see, there is no snow.”

“Well duh!” The filly retorted mockingly. “That’s why I’m here. I’ve practically done every simple thing there is to do in Ponyville, but snow shoveling is something none of the Cutie Mark Crusaders have ever had a chance to do, seeing as how we all met right after Winter. I was hoping that there was a brew or something you could whip up to make some snow.”

Zecora pondered for a moment. “The mixture you seek can be done, but I must first finish this one.” Scootaloo spotted behind Zecora a table riddled with ingredients and a cauldron already in use.

“Oh. My bad, Zecora. I didn’t realize you were busy,” the carrot-colored filly uttered, now feeling a bit intrusive.

“That is alright my little filly, and maybe you would like to help me with my remedy.” The foal energetically nodded her head. Zecora lifted Scootaloo onto the table for a better view. Scootaloo had never seen Zecora use ingredients as wondrous and awesome as these before; flowers with a different hue on each petal; scales that were still shimmering and burning hot off a dragon’s body; the other eye of newt! With the limited amount of ingredients displayed on the table, Scootaloo’s attention was quickly drawn away by the foreign and exotic items hung up inside the hut. The school filly hopped off the table and roamed carelessly about the room, examining the zebra’s commodities.

Zecora, checking the recipe for her concoction, noticed an ingredient missing. “I need to get Garuda feathers from my bedroom, so I shall be back very soon,” Zecora rhythmically informed as she headed into her bedroom. The door to Zecora’s second room gradually shut, only receiving an over-the-shoulder glance from Scootaloo.

Scootaloo, still wandering aimlessly, browsed over numerous objects before her enthusiasm started to dwindle. Slouching down, still checking over a few more possession’s that hung from the straw walls, Scootaloo sighed out of boredom and pondered whether Zecora had gone out to catch that Gordita thingy to get some feathers. About to just lay down, the young mare gasped as she caught sight of the coolest thing there was in the shack. “No way, Po-nay!” The orange filly squealed, her lavender eyes glistening with copious amounts of awesome. It was… a dream catcher! The student filly had been informed of this items wonders by Cheerilee one day in class and even had the magical opportunity to make one, but sadly, hers did not work properly. Scootaloo was not sure if maybe some of the yarn was in the wrong place or maybe it was not colorful enough; no matter what it was, neither Scootaloo’s nor anypony else’s in her class seemed to function as the name clearly dictates. But this one is Zecora’s! The filly thought, grinning ecstatically as her imagination raced with ideas of what she could do with a working dream catcher. Maybe if I dream of Rainbow Dash as my sister, the dream catcher will make it happen! Now with undying motivation, Scootaloo embarked on a climbing expedition up Zecora’s counter.

Pulling one drawer out, Scootaloo leaped into it. Reaching for the drawer diagonal of the one she was in, Scootaloo groaned, having to stretch out her front leg as much as she could. Barely touching the drawer, Scootaloo swiftly jerked it open, almost falling out of the drawer she was already in. It’s pretty high… Scootaloo considered, intimidated by this feet. Would Rainbow Dash ever back down from a challenge?! The filly questioned herself, hyping herself up for the task. Taking in an elongated breath, Scootaloo positioned herself for the bounce. In one brief movement, the school pony launched herself up towards the higher drawer. Even though this distance was only a couple of feet high, the jump seemed to have lagged time.

This retrieving of the dream catcher was not really that big of a deal, the thing was that Scootaloo had found herself thinking more about Rainbow Dash lately, and trying to mimic her confidence and attitude as well. Zecora probably would have let Scootaloo borrow the dream catcher if she had just asked, but she wanted to be dependent… just like Rainbow Dash. As the apricot-colored filly ascended to her peak height, she noticed that she was a hair away from making out with the side of the drawer.

Rainbow Dash…

With her kaleidoscopic idol remaining as the only image in her mind, Scootaloo felt her muscles tighten. Her body was lifted just a tad, but enough for her tail to brush over the drawer, the rest of her body landing inside. A bit confused from what just occurred, Scootaloo took a moment to take in the past few seconds. Astounded from her realization of what had happened, Scootaloo murmured “Did I just fly?!” Hearing herself say these words forced her body to fill up with gaiety. Scootaloo fell backwards, cheering and hollering. “OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH OHMYGOSH! I just flew, I really did it!” Scootaloo had always used her wings as a motor for her scooter, but this was the first time she built up enough strength to carry herself in the air. Maybe I could apply for Junior Flight School next month! Scootaloo squealed as an even greater idea arose. Maybe Rainbow Dash might want to… The image that now formed in her mind caused Scootaloo to relax, put her hooves behind her head, and smile sweetly, forgetting completely about the reason she needed to jump into that drawer. In that drawer, Scootaloo rested her eyes, gorging on her thoughts of ecstasy. “Rainbow Dash” the softened filly whispered, giving herself goose bumps from the sound of that joyous name. “Rainbow Dash… aww… aww… aww-choo!” Scootaloo had sneezed. Rubbing her nose with her hoof, Scootaloo glanced around the inside of the drawer to find a bunch of glittery powder spilt somewhat on the surface, but mostly in her own fur, and an empty glass jar.

Horse apples! I must have knocked the jar over when I jumped in. Now panicking over the mess she had made of Zecora’s powder, Scootaloo leaped out of the drawer, moaning a little as she landed on the floor. Think Scootaloo, Think! What would Rainbow Dash do?

Scootaloo’s train of thought was slightly derailed as the sparkle covered filly heard Zecora from the bedroom. “The Garuda feathers I have got, now let us continue with the mixture while it is hot.”

Scootaloo’s last thought replayed continuously through her brain, as her worry grew. What would Rainbow Dash do? What would Rainbow Dash do? Rainbow Dash? Rainbow Dash!

Zecora pushed open the bedroom door and called out in a sing-song voice “Scootaloo-a-loo-a-loo, where are you?” Zecora examined her hut and recognized the open drawers and a trail of glitter that led out the gaping doorway into the Everfree Forest. The perturbed zebra went over to the drawer first, not too alarmed by her open door seeing as how she had bare windows. As Zecora investigated the drawer, she immediately noticed the tipped over jar. Her eyes expanded into saucers as she detected how much of the sparkling dust was gone. Zecora’s hoof then had a nice encounter with her face. Following the path of excess powder that fell from the young pegasus, Zecora couldn’t help but warn the audience. “That powder will make it difficult to fix her.” She sighed before stating “I better start making an elixir.” Zecora began to search her library for any treatments for what was about to happen to Scootaloo, but couldn’t help but think Every time any pony visits me, something gets looted. The next pony who takes any of my things is going to get booted!

With her wings buzzing and heart pounding, Scootaloo rode away from the shack on her scooter, every so often spitting to relieve her mouth from taking in a bit of glitter. After what seemed like a mile, Scootaloo slowly applied her brakes, assured that she was close enough to Ponyville for no dangerous creatures to be lurking. Exhausted from the vigorous wing flapping, Scootaloo sat by a tree and bathed in the shade provided. Scootaloo facehooved. I forgot the axe. She remembered as she collected her thoughts. Oh well. I’m sure Zecora will forget all about what I did in a few days and I can go get it later. But now I can’t shovel any snow. Recalling what amazing event happened at the hut gave Scootaloo a new idea.

Scootaloo pivoted towards the grand tree that had been cooling her off and squinted as she looked towards the tip of the tree. Celestia’s magnificently golden orb crippled her vision a wee bit, but Scootaloo could definitely see the top of the tree. Cutiemark Crusader tree… jumper? Scootaloo thought, trying to grant a reason for what she was about to do. The school filly limbered up her wings by extending them out and then clenching them back in. Stepping away from the tree to give her a galloping start, Scootaloo breathed heavily just as she had before. Locating the shortest branch to her, Scootaloo focused on her target. The pegasus held her eyes shut for a moment before charging to the tree. When she finally raised them, her legs took off. Gaining momentum before the attempt felt right to Scootaloo as she neared her leaping point. One more breath before the pounce, then Scootaloo rocketed off the ground. The winded glided through her mane gently and her magenta eyes filled with tears from the breeze. Scootaloo felt invincible; her limbs spry, her mane flowing, her wings not flapping… HER WINGS NOT FLAPPING! In the heat of the moment, Scootaloo had forgotten to even release her wings to try and fly. Horse apples! The foolish foal thought, as her entire being slammed into the tree that she so hoped to scale.

The filly’s body slipped off the bark-covered trunk and plowed into the grassy ground. Scootaloo kept her eyes closed and didn’t bother moving, her head reeling and aching. Gradually, the young mare slipped out of consciousness.

~~~
The previous shade of the tree now blended in with the glory of Luna’s moon. Scootaloo wiped her eyes as she regained consciousness. A majority of the pain she felt before she was knocked out had subsided and left only minor headache and a bruise on her forehead. Scootaloo’s eyelids now up, the filly thought how long have I been out? Checking that not a remnant of sunset remained visible, Scootaloo assumed that it was past curfew. Scootaloo sighed. Horse apples! Mom and dad are gonna be furious. Wait, do I even have parents? If I do, they’re not canon yet. Anyhow, I better fix the fourth wall and head home. With that final decision, Scootaloo stood, but then immediately sat right back down.
“What the hay!” Scootaloo shrieked as she scrutinized her limbs. She lifted one hoof in front of face, hoping what she was witnessing was an illusion caused by the night’s darkness. Branching out her foremost legs, Scootaloo’s breathing came to a halt at the realization that this was no mere moon-mare’s mirage. After a multitude of seconds, the disoriented filly inhaled to allow herself to produce numerous baffled sounds. “Wha…. Huh… bu… ho… WHAT THE HAY!” Unable to form a different sentence, Scootaloo just felt all over her body. The young filly was now a larger, taller mare. Her mane had grown quite a bit as well, the hairs curling to one side of Scootaloo’s face to cover one eye. Her legs, neck, and torso matched the length of the older mares that inhabited Ponyville… even Rainbow Dash. Scootaloo’s mind cleared as she solely visualized the glorious weather pony. Her luscious mane. Her roseate, victory-filled eyes. Her super awesome cutiemark. Scootaloo was lost in her imagination of the rainbow mare. Fabricating Rainbow Dash’s entire being, detail by detail, in her head, Scootaloo felt her wings grow stiff.
Scootaloo would have never ceased from imagining that wondrous pegasus had it not been for that gust that picked up. As the transformed filly sat, wings erect, a breeze coursed past her body, causing her to shiver. Before Scootaloo could even shiver though, the wind grabbed hold of the filly and launched her into the night sky. “Woah! Wahhh!” Scootaloo shouted, unexpectedly ascended by the wind. Scootaloo felt her mane and tail thrashing about in the gust, yet her wings remained as statues. Distress drowned the filly’s every instinct as she arrived at the apex of her skyward liftoff. The breeze had passed and Scootaloo’s being just flowed in the air for a moment before gravity decided to quit being lazy. The magically grown filly began to feel herself sink through the air, which then, in turn, transitioned into a plummet. Descending to quickly for her to release even a squeal, Scootaloo rammed her eyelids shut and thought what she always did in times of trouble. What would Rainbow Dash do? The picture of Rainbow Dash’s figure plopped once again into the school filly’s mind, causing Scootaloo to face the issue at hoof. With the opening of her eyes, Scootaloo faced her problem which was… a treetop? The orange mare no longer felt the upwards rush of air that she had only seconds ago. Her sight was mostly still with a slight up-and-down motion. Scootaloo twisted to her back to discover that her wings were flapping! They weren’t buzzing, they were flapping! Scootaloo, with all of her nervous energy replaced by that of pride and excitement, clenched her hooves together and released a wail. “I’m flying! OHMYGOSH I’m flying!”
Overtaken by ambition from her lavish, new wings, Scootaloo attempted to steer herself above the Everfree Forest. At first, Scootaloo had a couple faults and mishaps, but she never fell too far down and she finally got used to directing herself. Gliding past the roof of the Everfree, Scootaloo peered off not too far into the distance to spot the entire town of Ponyville below. Unaware of how fast she could really go, Scootaloo just soared calmly, comprehending her lush new constitution. Her mane carried lightly in the air as she tranquilly piloted over her hometown, her front curl still covering one of her eyes.
The harmony in Ponyville was even more beautiful from up above. Scootaloo gazed down at all the citizens acting as they do during the night. Some houses had already went lights out for the evening; however, other houses, such as that of Twilight Sparkle’s library domain, glistened like the stars parallel to them. Sugarcube Corner still held a few late night snackers, munching on the goodies the bakery had to offer, while Pinkie Pie entertained them with her chit-chat and constant non sequiturs. Fluttershy was putting out some chicken feed, but then retreated into her dwelling. Oh Celestia, that chicken grub looks good! Scootaloo thought, until convincing herself that eating the chickens’ food would be stealing which is bad or something. The chicken food did distract Scootaloo from the tremendous sight of the city below, for now her tummy barked louder than Winona did during one of Rainbow Dash’s wild I’m-in-a-bad-mood thunderstorms. Rainbow Dash Scootaloo whispered in her mind. Rainbow Da--- Scootaloo was not even able to finish her repetitive thought before her stomach intervened. Alright, Alright, I’m going! Scootaloo, now on a quest for nourishment, rotated towards Sugarcube Corner. Remembering the delicious caramel candy connoli she purchased last time she was there made her mouth water. The name was not easily forgotten too due to how many times Pinkie Pie said it.
Candy caramel cannoli, candy caramel cannoli, candy caramel cannoli, Cand---
Pinkie Pie, get out of here! My mind is reserved for Rainbow Dash. Rainbow Dash isn’t with you is she...
Nope, sorry filly-willy!
Oh. Depressed that Rainbow Dash did not come with Pinkie, Scootaloo thought to Pinkie Well then would mind leaving? A roar of guffawing rang through Scootaloo’s skull.
Bah-ha-ha-ha! That was very punny of you, Scoots! Her own awful play on words caused more laughter to emit from the party mare.
“Pinkie Pie, Get out of my head!” The famished filly screamed as she bonked her head in an attempt to lose Pinkie’s voice, but only encouraged her headache to flourish. “Have I gone insane?” Scootaloo interrogated herself, realizing she was shouting and hitting at a fabricated voice in her head. “Must just be the hunger.” Sighting once more the confectionary, Scootaloo grinned, but the smirk was short lived as her lips mad a 180. Scootaloo had no bits on her. Horse apples! Her tummy still craving for something to digest, Scootaloo glared at her stomach. The glare soon fell past her belly and transformed into a relieving gaze as she recognized what she floated above: Sweet Apple Acres. Miles of trees that each grew a plentiful amount of that golden fruit were right at Scootaloo’s hooftips.
Apple Bloom and her family have enough apples for me to just eat a few Scootaloo began to persuade herself. Applejack practically bucks hundreds of those trees a day. Building up enough courage to settle in the midst of the Acres, Scootaloo began her fruitful, fruit-filled feast.
Following countless discarded apple cores, Scootaloo was stuffed. The pegasus burped, then sighed with comfort as she leaned against the tree she had been taking from. She wiped the last drops of juice that hid below her lips, and took what she assumed to be a flight stance. “Now how does this work…” Scootaloo contemplated, left without assistance from a drifting breeze like before. Scootaloo lined herself up to give herself a runway through the apple trees so she could gain some velocity to fly. With plenty of space to gallop, Scootaloo began to canter down the path. With the quickening speed, the trotting mare felt her wings rise. Picking up the pace, Scootaloo began to wave her wings. Come on, come on. Scootaloo could no longer feel the grass bend under her hooves as she galloped. Scootaloo was now above ground like before.
Flying above the not too tall of trees, Scootaloo utilized the first seconds to balance and gain control of how she maneuvered. Resuming the tranquil float over the city, Scootaloo headed towards her home in the residential area of Ponyville. The peacefulness of the town at this time touched Scootaloo as she reflected on all the good memories she had within the confines of Ponyville. It would have been perfect if it was not for that familiar sound Scootaloo heard. Trying to pinpoint the faint noise, Scootaloo investigated around her. She noticed that the tree leaves under her had begun to rustle. If there was a bird that had passed by, Scootaloo was having a challenging time seeing it through the shade. The sound sang closer. Eyes shimmering and disposition jubilant, Scootaloo thought I know that sound. That sound is… “Rainbow Dash!” Scootaloo called out sparklingly to the multicolored race pegasus that swiftly flew by her, almost causing Scootaloo to cascade to the ground. Rainbow Dash desisted her soaring, and confronted the strangely recognizable-ish mare that had cried her name.
“Umm, hey? Who are you…?”
What Would Rainbow Dash Do...
Who are you!? The question resonated throughout Scootaloo's mind as she hovered parallel to her idol. Does Rainbow Dash really not recognize me? Do I look that different? Scootaloo would have reviewed her change in appearance more thoroughly had Rainbow Dash not be staring at her quizzically.
"So, umm... Not much of a talker?" Rainbow Dash asked the floating pegasus statue. After waiting another few seconds for a reply, the weather pony gave a soft, awkward chuckle, and tried to excuse herself. "Okay, well... I gotta get going," Rainbow Dash lazily lied, turning in the opposite direction.
Snapping out of her daze, Scootaloo shook her head and yelled "wait!" Rainbow Dash pivoted back towards the bewildered pegasus. Scootaloo, not wanting for Rainbow Dash to leave, but also wishing to avoid another awkward staring contest, she began roughly with "I... I..." Saying the first thing that popped into her head, Scootaloo elaborated "I heard you're really awesome...?"
Scootaloo grinned nervously, trying to hold back a much needed facehoof. "Well not to brag," Rainbow Dash obviously leading into a boastful anecdote. "But I did win the Young Flyer Competition using my signature Sonic Rainboom!" Scootaloo watched in wonderment as her hero posed as if receiving much praise from a massive audience. Fading back into reality, Dash looked at the other pegasus and asked "So how did you know my name?"
Washed over with another coat of anxiety, Scootaloo began to stutter. "Well, umm... ya see... You're Rainbow Dash! Everypony whose any pony knows who you are!" The weather pony's ego, having just ingested a full feast, left nothing but a triumphant smile on Dash's lips.
"Yeah I guess I shouldn't be surprised that more ponies know about the greatest flyer in all of Equestria!" Leaving her bragging nature behind her, for now, Rainbow Dash inquired "So what's your name then?"
"Rainbow Dash, it's me, Sc..." Holding that last sound, Scootaloo remembered how Rainbow Dash couldn't even recognize her new body. What would Rainbow Dash do if she knew I went through this change? Should I tell her? Agreeing with herself on how to get herself out of this pickle, Scootaloo finally released the next part of her word. "Sc...orchin." Scootaloo accepted the fib untruth she had just fabricated. "My name is Scorchin'," Scootaloo reiterated.
"Scorchin'?" Rainbow Dash inquisitively repeated. "Scorchin'!? You wouldn't happen to be Soarin's, the Wonderbolt Soarin's sister?"
Thinking on her hooves, Scootaloo murmured "Ye... I mean, no... well, not exactly..."
"Don't try to fool me! I know you're his sister! None of the magazines I've read have said anything about his family, but you two have the same cheekbones and wing patterns. So c'mon, just admit it!"
Scootaloo was surprised by all the knowledge Rainbow Dash actually knew about the Wonderbolts. Due to the constant egging on from her idol and her own yearning to please Rainbow Dash, Scootaloo found herself staring down at her hooves as she stated "looks like you got me."
Rainbow Dash's face lit up. "OHMYGOSHOHMYGOSHOHMYGOSHOHMYGOSH! Even though your not a Wonderbolt, you're related to one so you get the Wonderbolt treatment, except I left out one 'OHMYGOSH'."
"Thank you?" Scootaloo felt more sick than the time she tasted Sweetie Belle's attempt at a cooking cutie mark. Scootaloo wasn't expecting flattery from Rainbow Dash, and knowing that it was because of a lie made the feeling even more nauseating.
"Do you know any of the Wonderbolts' tricks? Could you get them to come to Ponyville? Do you have Spitfire's number!?"
That last question sparked a bit of jealousy within the grown filly. Spitfire!? That no-talent hack doesn't deserve my Rainbow Dash! I- I mean Rainbow Dash. Wait, this is my thoughts... Spitfire will never ever get close to MY Rainbow Dash!
Finalizing her interrogation, Rainbow Dash concluded "Do you want to go for a fly Scorchin'?" Scootaloo bit her lower lip in an effort to stifle her squeal.
"Of course I would love to go for a fly!"
"Cool."
"Cool..." Scootaloo smiled lightly, her uncontrollable anxiety from before withering away, as Rainbow Dash turned and began to soar at a decent pace. Following a bit behind her, Scootaloo struggled to keep up with Rainbow Dash. After a few seconds, Scootaloo gradually caught up next to the fellow pegasus. Rainbow Dash gave a brief glance over at Scootaloo and smiled at their flying side-by-side. The two mares remained silent throughout their flight, simply enjoying each other's company. Every so often, Scootaloo found herself subtly checking Rainbow Dash's face to make sure she was as content as she was. Each time Scootaloo peeked, the same grin that was glued onto her face was also on Rainbow Dash's.
The journey to Rainbow Dash's house took about fifteen minutes. Scootaloo knew Rainbow Dash was not going as fast as she normally would. She was also sure that Rainbow Dash had guided her through a more scenic route than necessary, but it didn't matter to Scootaloo, for it just meant more time with Rainbow Dash. Luna's night air was calm tonight and the temperature was not too humid or too cold, it was just... cool.
Rainbow Dash began to dip down and landed on top of firm cloud patio that acted as the mouth of the river of coolness, awesomeness, and radicalness that flowed from within the walls of nimbus home. Following her lead, Scootaloo descended towards the house. As her hooves touched the fluffy ground, a radiance caused Scootaloo to squint her eyes. Her vision slowly adjusting to the light, Scootaloo saw that Rainbow Dash had opened the door to her abode. "You comin' in?" Dash playfully asked the tan pegasus.
Thrown off by the break in silence, Scootaloo's uneasiness returned. "Oh umm, yeah... Haha, I mean, I wouldn't just stay out here because you invited me to your house and now we're here, at your house..." Scootaloo concluded her ramble with a quiet chuckle and stared at her hooves.
Rainbow Dash began to gleefully guffaw. "You're funny, Scorchin'!" Seeming as though her embarrassing rant had been overlooked, Scootaloo joined in with a small giggle and trotted into the house.
The wall's were sparingly decorated; red curtains bordered each of the windows with their only companions being two photos and a clock that had the words 'BEING AWESOME' circumnavigating its outer rim. The first picture was of Rainbow Dash by herself. She was wearing a tight-fitting racing suit that had the number one on the side of it and a blue ribbon was pinned to it. Scootaloo remembered this photo from when Rainbow Dash won the bi-annual Ponyville Marathon. The latter photo was a picture of Rainbow Dash and the other five that she always was around. No real furniture was found save some weights, a treadmill, and other workout equipment miscellaneously placed around the room.
Scootaloo was quite unimpressed from Rainbow Dash's house. She always imagined her house to be blasting the sweetest jams from speakers that reached the roof; The walls to be riddled with cases that each held the shiniest and heaviest of trophies in all of Equestria; a disco ball hanging high above a single couch that Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo would rest on. Rainbow Dash would yawn and then lean against the school filly. Scootaloo would watch Rainbow Dash's head set upon her shoulder. A strand of red hair would fall away from the rest of the rainbow mane and in front of Dash's face. Scootaloo would gently brush the hair out of Rainbow Dash's face. Rainbow Dash's eyes would smoothly open and meet Scootaloo's. The two mares would slowly gravitate towards one another and then Rainbow Dash would try and...
Scootaloo shook her head vigorously to snap out of her fantasy and to not arouse her wings too much."Your house is... neat," Scootaloo cautiously complimented, making sure to find the correct word.
"Huh? Oh I don't really do much in here. I mainly hang out in my room." Continuing through the house, Rainbow Dash strolled towards one of the two other doors in the room besides the front door. Scootaloo followed Rainbow Dash into the room. "This is my crib!" Exiting the bland and blank room, Scootaloo's eyes turned into saucers and her lower jaw decided to pay a visit to the floor.
Now this is the room I had imagined! One whole wall was dedicated to the numerous trophies that Rainbow Dash had one, some almost falling off the ends of the shelves due to lack of room. Another wall was strung with pictures of Rainbow Dash with each of her trophies. Scootaloo found it amusing to match each picture with the corresponding award. The floor was littered with Dash's new favorite energy drink, Red Bull, each can empty. Strobe lights were fastened to the roof along with a dual speaker system. A large Celestia-sized bed covered a corner of the room. Rainbow Dash didn't hesitate to pounce on the bed as it began to jiggle when she made contact. The water bed relaxed and Rainbow Dash motioned for Scootaloo to hop on it too. No, this is better than what I imagined!"
Scootaloo waltzed over to the weather pony, occasionally stepping on one of the countless cans in Rainbow Dash's collection. Scootaloo joined Rainbow Dash on the water bed. The bed shook for a few seconds before settling again. Rainbow Dash bent back and laid on her bed as she boastfully asked "So what do you think of my pad?" Rainbow Dash probably already knew what Scootaloo thought of her room by the expression on her face, but the egoist inside her must of wanted to her it in words.
"Your pad is killer! This is what I always dreamed it would look like!" With that unnerving remark, the kaleidoscope with wings sat up and stared at the school pony.
"What you always dreamed it would look like...?" Rainbow Dash parroted.
Realizing her mishap, Scootaloo began to pan for a golden solution. "Oh well, ya see... I mean that I heard about how cool you were and... I could have guessed that a radical pegasus like you would have a kick-flank room to match." Confident with her excuse, Scootaloo grinned at Rainbow Dash.
Unable to ignore the flattery she had just received, Rainbow Dash retorted "Yeah, I knew that's what you meant. Oh but I haven't even shown you the icing on the cake!" With that brief prelude, the rainbow mare clopped her hooves together twice causing the regular solar lights to be replaced by the flashing strobe lights and the stereo system to begin pumping some hardcore beats. Clopping her hooves again as before, the room returned to its previous condition. "What did you think?"
Attempting to suppress her immature squeals of jubilation, Scootaloo finally squeaked out "Sweet!"
Licking her lips, Rainbow Dash plopped off the bed. "Hey, I'll go whip us a couple of Pinkie Bombs! Sound good?"
Unsure about what a 'Pinkie Bomb' was, Scootaloo just replied "sounds good," assuming that if Rainbow Dash liked it, so would she. Rainbow Dash departed from the room and headed through the other door that Scootaloo had not gone through before. Surly this was her kitchen.
Scootaloo once again examined her idol's bedroom, soaking in all of its glory. Noticing a smaller door that she didn't notice before, the curious filly trotted over to it. She pulled the door ajar, and what she saw made her wonder... or should I say Wonderbolts! On the other side of the door, a magnificent poster took up the whole side of the door. Random Wonderbolts merchandise was organized on a table. The conglomeration of memorabilia ranged from the Wonderbolts' action figures to the Wonderbolts' filly meal box. The filly meal wasn't even a Wonderbolts product, they were just advertising it. I only get the filly meal when they come with the My Little Human toy. That show is the best! Scootaloo noticed a large scrapbook that was planted in the dead center of the closet on its own platform. Scootaloo opended the book and began to flip through it.
The volume contained mostly pictures of the Wonderbolts with an occasional news clipping entitled something that praised the Wonderbolts; however, the last page was a slight exception to this pattern. The final page was solely dedicated to Spitfire. There were head shots, drawings, and reports scattered widely across the page with the only thing connected them being a giant, crimson heart outlining the page. Jealously sprouted once more in Scootaloo. I don't get what Rainbow Dash sees in this mare anyhow! She probably doesn't even do her own stunts! Rainbow Dash could fly circles, squares, and what other shapey-thingies there are around her.
With an aggravated hoof, Scootaloo slammed the book shut. "Spitfire, Shmitmire!" Yearning to cool off, Scootaloo shut the closet door and returned to the wavy bed. Curled up on the bed, Scootaloo noticed a certain... mark that caused her to squeal with glee. Her face staring straight at her flank, Scootaloo saw an image. She was no longer a blank flank! On her hip was a picture of a black-tire wheel with a yellow center. Nothing to complicated, but it was something. I've got my cutie mark! I've got my cutie mark! I wonder what my talent is though? Who cares?! This is the greatest night ever! How could it get any better than this?!
"Who's ready to drop the Pinkie Bomb!?" Rainbow Dash rhetorically questioned as she reentered the bed with a tray carrying two glasses filled with a mixture of liquids. She set down the tray and passed Scootaloo a drink. "Bottom's up, Scorchin'!"
Apprehensively peering down at the glass, Scootaloo trusted her hero and tasted a sip... What the heck is in here!? I hope Rainbow Dash didn't here me gag just now. I don't think I've ever wanted to vomit just so that I could have the taste of vomit in my mouth! Does she really expect me to like this? I wonder if this is a prank? Fighting off mixed emotions, Scootaloo let out an elongated "mmmmm" to appease the drink's creator.
"Knew you'd like it!" Taking a deep sip from her own glass, Rainbow Dash pleasantly sighed.
Tongue still quivering, Scootaloo moaned "What is this exactly?"
"Well my friend Pinkie Pie whipped up some new drink called Pinkiemeister and started selling it to us older ponies. If you drink a bunch, you start to feel really good. But the drink I made is a mixture of Pinkie's stuff and Red Bull." Scootaloo shuddered a bit as the aftertaste of the drink struck her taste buds. Gulping down half of her concoction, Rainbow Dash added "my two favorite drinks make the ULTIMATE DRINK!" Scootaloo forced a grin to show false agreement. The school filly set her drink nonchalantly beside the bed to get out from finishing the gag-inducing brew.
For the next hour and a half, the pegasi sat on the water bed discussing all sorts of things from racing to pranks to celebrity crushes. Unfortunately for Scootaloo, the name 'Spitfire' was brought up a little too much during that last topic. Rainbow Dash also presented Scootaloo with her trick book. The page only contained a bunch of X's and lines, but Scootaloo imagined the weather mare doing each barrel roll, flip, and every other maneuver. Scootaloo lucked out in the conversation not having to discuss Soarin' too much in detail, retaining her ploy.
Finishing off a story she was telling, Rainbow Dash chortles "And then, and then she says 'and that's how Equestria was made!'" The two mares chuckled simultaneously, regardless to the fact that both new how that story was going to end.
"So what did those fillies call themselves again?" Scootaloo questioned, trying to squeeze out what Rainbow Dash thought of Scootaloo.
"Oh those three? They call themselves the Cutie Mark Crusaders 'cause they're obsess about getting their cutie marks."
Rushing to the point, Scootaloo interrogated further. "What do you think of them?"
"Ehh... They're cute, but they are still fillies."
CUTE!? She only thinks we're cute!? And she called us fillies! Well we are fillies, but that's beside the point!
"Is that it?"
"Well actually, one of the three is pretty cool. She's worked with me before and she's a tough pony. Who knows she may one day reach half of the coolness I have." Scootaloo's disposition perked up.
I'm tough. I'm cool. She's gotta be talking about me!
Inching on the dialogue, Scootaloo started, "And her name is..."
Scootaloo!
"Apple Bloom." Scootaloo melted.
"Why her!?" Her rage almost broke her charade. Recovering, Scootaloo explained, "I mean what's wrong with the others?"
"Well, Sweetie Belle, my friend's younger sister, is too soft. Plain and simple. As for Scootaloo, well..." Scootaloo braced herself for her idol's criticism. "I would love to hang out with Scootaloo, but she's a pegasus that doesn't fly! If she had ever asked me to help her or something, then it might be a different story."
Scootaloo was convulsing and shouting, in her mind that is. If I had just asked her to help me fly! Why didn't I ever think of that before!
Attempting to mend her reputation, Scootaloo said, "Who knows. Maybe she's just worried about what your answer would be."
"Why would she? It's not that serious of a question. She needs to have more confidence if she's gonna wants to hang out with Rainbow Dash!" Rainbow Dash jokingly scoffed, unknowingly hurt the filly's feelings.
Scootaloo remained still and silent on the bed, pondering what her role model had revealed to her. After a moment, the young mare realized how unnaturally quiet it was and inspected Rainbow Dash who now laid down on the bed. Seeing that her eyes were shut, Scootaloo woke her up with a light tap on her shoulder.
Yawning and lifting her head, Rainbow Dash whispered, "Oh sorry Scorchin'. I guess I'm a little worn out from my training today."
"Even the fastest flyer in Equestria has to get rest sometime," Scootaloo stated.
Accepting the compliment, Rainbow Dash suggested "You should probably go soon, before it gets too late."
"Yeah."
"Where are you staying, Scorchin'?"
"Me? I'm uhh..." Thinking on her hooves, Scootaloo fabricated another lie. "I am staying in the hotel addition to the Luxury Lotus Spa."
"Oh someone's fancy schmanshy!" Scootaloo giggled at Rainbow Dash's remark. Rainbow Dash huddled under the covers of her bed as Scootaloo headed towards the door. "Would ya mind hitting the lights for me Scorchin'?"
Scootaloo answered with a flick of the light switch, leaving the glistening moon as the remaining light. "Good night Rainbow Dash." Scootaloo murmured as the door creaked closed.
"Hey Scorchin'!" Rainbow Dash called out, a bit more awake and urgent.
Scootaloo poked her head through the crack in the doorway. "Yeah?"
"We're friends now, so you can call me Dash or R.D.." Scootaloo had always honored and revered Rainbow Dash so greatly that she never noticed that she always called her by her full name.
"Oh alright Rai---" Adjusting to the break in habit, "Dash." With that, the door closed and Scootaloo left Rainbow Dash to be taken away by the Sandpony.
Scootaloo was left with a dark, calm flight back to Everfree Forest to retrieve her scooter and then her house. All the events that had occurred throughout the course of the night replayed themselves in her head, over and over. She first thought of the awkward meeting, the lies, the pictures of Spitfire, the drink. Should I have done this? How will I keep this up? Rainbow Dash is going to find out! But then she recalled their flight, Dash's room, their long conversation, Dash's parting words to her. Oh I Rainbow Dash is so cute at night! She acts... better around Scorchin'. And she said we were friends!
Eventually, after picking up her scooter, Scootaloo arrived at her own house. She rested her vehicle outside her house, then stealthily sneaked into her home, avoiding confrontation from her parents that may or may not exist for obviously breaking curfew. Without even bothering to turn on the lights to her room, Scootaloo slithered into her bed, exhausted. All this flying is killing me. How does Dashie do it all the time? Barely able to read it, Scootaloo could make out that her clock pointed the time to be currently 11:45 PM. I really stayed out late. Oh well, it was totally worth it. The serenity of her cozy bed began to take the filly. Whatever Scootaloo was about to dream about couldn't compare to the night she just had. With one thought left on her mind, Scootaloo fell asleep.
What Would Rainbow Dash Do...
Dash... Scootaloo's mind didn't stray from thinking of Rainbow Dash for one moment as the filly slept. All the wonderful events from the previous night replayed in Scootaloo's dreams; Rainbow Dash's awesome room; talking with Rainbow Dash for what seemed like days; beating Spitfire in a race, thus winning Rainbow Dash's heart! Maybe that last one didn't happen, but Scootaloo sure dreamed it did. Scootaloo kept slumbering away, fantasizing all her heart desired. Peace. Joy. Tran---
*BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP*
Scootaloo began to flail around under her sheets, trying to escape the blankets to silence the alarm clock. Throwing the covers onto the floor, Scootaloo reached over to the nightstand next to her bed to find the alarm. With one swipe, she knocked an empty soda can off the nightstand. With a second swing she clocked the buzzing clock, shutting off the startling alarm.
Scootaloo sunk back into her cozy sanctuary, still weary from her late night. Scootaloo slept for about another twenty minutes before finally realizing that she needed to get up. Scootaloo swiftly woke herself up and jumped out of her bed. Dang it, I overslept! I'm going to be late for being late to school! As she sped out of her house, Scootaloo picked up her backpack full of magazines, soda, and spicy candies. Scootaloo mounted her scooter, and zipped off towards the school.
"Miss Cherillee. I'm here." The exhausted Scootaloo huffed out as she burst into the classroom.
"Ah, Scootaloo, thank you for joining us... Ten minutes late," Cherillee scolded.
I don't know what she's mad about. I'm the one who didn't get to shower this morning!
"Scootaloo, I'd would like for you to consider coming to school on time one day." Scootaloo rolled her eyes. "Anyway, take your seat so that we may continue our lesson. So class..." Cherillee carried on with her teachings, but Scootaloo hardly payed attention as she trotted to her desk.
Due to the lack of sleep Scootaloo got, she relaxed her head on top of her desk right when she sat down and dozed off to the sound of Cherillee's lecture. The filly almost fell asleep, but was awoken by a crumpled up piece of paper hitting nose. Her eyes slowly opened as she lifted her head. Scootaloo flattened out the paper to not disturb the class, and read the message. You owe me a cupcake! Scootaloo peered around the classroom to find out who wrote the letter. In no time, Scootaloo saw Sweetie Belle staring over at her, playfully sticking her tongue out. Too sleepy to start passing notes, the young pegasus just shoved the paper off her desk and went back to her nap. She laid undisturbed this time, allowing her to sleep.
*WHACK* Cheerilee slammed a wooden ruler on Scootaloo's desk, abruptly waking her up.
"Wha- Huh- What?"
Cheerilee gazed down on Scootaloo, disapproving of her sleeping in class. "Scootaloo."
"Oh, Miss Cheerilee, um... Can you repeat the question?"
"I didn't ask a question Scootaloo."
Darn! She usually only wakes me up when she just asked me a question.
"It's lunchtime Scootaloo. All the other students went outside to eat lunch."
Livening up at the thought of eating some food, Scootaloo said, "Cool! Later Miss Cheerilee."
"Scootaloo!"
Scootaloo halted in her hoofsteps at the sound of her teacher's suddenly stern tone. Whoa. I've never heard Miss Cheerilee get this serious before.
"This is eleventh time you've come into class late this month!"
Scootaloo, trying to ease the clear trouble she was in, added, "Yes, but that's only like one fifth of a whole month."
Cheerilee sighed. "That would actually be about one third of a month, and it's only the twelfth! I can't allow you to keep coming in late and sleeping in class like you've been doing. I didn't want to have to do this, but you've forced my hoof. Scootaloo, until your behavior improves, you are going to have after school detention."
Scootaloo groaned with displeasure. Detention! She can't be serious.
"Well what do I need to do to not have detention?"
"I want you to come into class before the bell, have all your homework done, and for you to stay awake during my lessons. If you can do this for the rest of the week, you won't have detention anymore. Until then, you will remain in the class after school each day for one hour."
Scootaloo saw no reason to argue. It was pointless. "Yes Miss Cheerilee." Scootaloo's head drooped in shame, but once Scootaloo felt and heard the rumbling from her stomach she asked her teacher, "Can I please go eat, Miss Cheerilee?"
"You may." With that her teacher's excusing her, Scootaloo bolted out of the classroom and out to the eating tables.
"Scootaloo!" Almost immediately when she got outside, Scootaloo heard Apple Bloom call her name. Walking towards the small table that Apple Bloom was waving at her from, Scootaloo realized something.
I didn't pack a lunch this morning! After a quick facehoof, Scootaloo sighed, hoping one of her friend's would share some of their lunch.
As Scootaloo took a seat at the table, Apple Bloom questioned, "So Miss Cheerilee finally woke ya up?"
"Yeah. She says I got detention until I start acting better in class! Can you believe that?"
"Well actually yes," Sweetie Belle chimed in.
"Oh be quiet!"
Sweetie Belle giggled at her friend's frustration.
Clutching her empty stomach, Scootaloo asked, "Sweetie Belle, would you mind sharing some of your lunch with me? I kind of forgot to bring one this morning."
"Thank you for proving my point, and yes."
"So you'll give me some?"
"No, I meant that I mind sharing my lunch with you. You still owe me a cupcake."
"Forget you then!" Turning to Apple Bloom with a friendly smile, Scootaloo restated her question. "Apple Bloom, would you mind sharing some of your lunch with me?"
"Maybe. Hold on." Apple Bloom dumped out all the food that was in her brown paper bag. Apple Bloom pondered over what she would give Scootaloo; the warmed up spaghetti with Parmesan cheese drizzled over it; the fresh honey and cinnamon glazed apples; the still cool chocolate pudding. Scootaloo mouth could have near been the eighth wonder of the world for the size of the waterfall that poured from it. "Here." Apple Bloom threw a small baggie of prunes over to Scootaloo.
"Oh come on, Apple Bloom! Prunes! No pony likes prunes."
"Yeah, no pony 'cept Granny Smith, and she keeps sneakin' 'em in mah lunch before Ah leave for school. If ya want to eat, there ya go."
Scootaloo didn't even bother tasting the prunes before hurling them in the trashcan.
Swallowing a bite from the large salad she had for lunch, Sweetie Belle asked, "So where'd you go, Scootaloo? Neither one of us could find you and you never showed up to Sugarcube Corner."
"Yeah, where did ya go?"
Scootaloo eyes opened wide at this question. There's no way I can tell them the truth! But they are my friends. Would they even believe me? Can I tell them about what happened at Zecora's? When I woke up? At Rainbow Dash's house?
Scootaloo swallowed. "You know, I was working on those ten things, but after awhile I got tired, so I went home to sleep." She finished her lie with a small chuckle to attempt to lighten the knot of tension Scootaloo had in her stomach.
"Wow Scootaloo! I bet you didn't even get tired, and just didn't want to buy me that cupcake."
"Sweetie Belle, trust me. I..." Scootaloo quit speaking once she heard the voice of Rainbow Dash gradually growing closer and closer.
As she trotted near the school, the fillies could slightly make out her hushed words. "Come on. Where could she be? Come on, Dash, think!"
A pit formed in Scootaloo's chest, and it wasn't from hunger. Should I even talk to her? She probably wouldn't even think for a second that I was Scorchin', but I better not risk it. Maybe if I don't say anything to her, she'll just pass by the school. Yeah, I should be fi---
"Hey Rainbow Dash!"
Really Apple Bloom!?
"Oh, uh... hey Apple Bloom," Rainbow Dash unnaturally mumbled as she approached the gate that closed off the schoolyard. Rainbow Dash never kept eye contact with any of the fillies as she constantly pivoted her head around in search of somepony.
"Hi Rainbow Dash," Sweetie Belle greeted with her familiarly innocent smile.
"Yeah, hey," the distracted mare once again mumbled.
Attempting to go unnoticed, Scootaloo kept herself from looking at Rainbow Dash.
Fixating her attention on the three fillies, Rainbow Dash asked, "By any chance, have either of you three seen a new pegasus in town today?"
"Sorry Dash, but we've been in school all day, so we ain't really seen too many ponies today."
Chewing on another bite of her salad, Sweetie Belle questioned, "Why? What's wrong?"
"Well, you see, I met this mare last night, and I've been trying to find her all afternoon. She said she was staying at the spa's hotel, but no pony there had heard of her."
"That's too bad, but Ay'm shore she'll turn up."
"I hope so..."
As Rainbow Dash spoke, Scootaloo glanced over to see if Rainbow Dash was leaving. She wasn't, but what Scootaloo did see her doing touched the filly. Rainbow Dash was worrying. Rainbow Dash bit on her bottom lip as her eyes swayed left and right, examining the town in search of the mysterious pegasus. A drop of sweat slid down from her forehead until it finally dropped off of her chin. Rainbow Dash is never nervous! Does Scorchin'... Did I... Does Scorchin' really mean that much to her?
After a few seconds of silence, Sweetie Belle enthusiastically exclaimed, "Scootaloo, you came into school late! Did you see anypony new in town?"
"Who, me?" Scootaloo chuckled in an attempt to calm her nerves about being recognized. "Nope, not that I can remember."
Rainbow Dash groaned. "Thanks anyway you guys. I'm going to try searching Cloudsdale for her. Have a good lunch."
As Rainbow Dash began to turn away, surly about to take off for the sky, Scootaloo recalled the previous night. I would love to hang out with Scootaloo, but she's a pegasus that doesn't fly! If she had ever asked me to help her or something, then it might be a different story... Those were Rainbow Dash's exact words...
"Dash, wait!" Scootaloo shouted, grabbing Rainbow Dash's attention.
"What is it, Squirt?"
"Um, I was wondering if maybe you could, I don't know... take me with you?"
"Uh... I don't know, kid. Not to be mean, but can you even fly?"
Scootaloo tensed up as she heard the possible rejection from her idol. With sweat rolling down her cheek, the filly murmured, "Well yeah... not really... no, but I totally want to learn!"
"Honestly, I'm not sure if now's really the time to be giving a flying lesson." Rainbow Dash would have left just then if it had not been for the obvious look of depression on Scootaloo's face. Rainbow Dash thought of Scorchin', and then said, "Hey Squirt, how about I give you a ride and you can repay me later by taking some flying lessons?"
Scootaloo's mouth dropped in elation as her glistening eyes turned into saucers. "What? Really? That would be awesome!" Scootaloo cheered as she hopped in her seat.
"Not ta be the bearer of bad news, but ya can't jus' leave school durin' lunch, Scootaloo."
"You're already in enough trouble with Miss Cheerilee as it is," Sweetie Belle added.
Scootaloo sighed. This would be the first time I would ever fly with Rainbow Dash...
"So are gonna come?" Rainbow Dash asked, stretching for take off.
Scootaloo turned to her two friends. "Listen, I can go on a quick flight with Rainbow Dash and be back before lunch is over. Cheerilee won't even notice!" Her friends obviously looked less than confident in their friend's plan, but Scootaloo paid no mind. "Rainbow Dash, do you think that you could bring me back in a half an hour so Cheerilee doesn't blow a fuse?"
Rainbow Dash pondered for a moment. "I wanted to look for my friend, but I guess it wouldn't take to long to get you back here. Sure."
"Thanks Rainbow Dash! You're the greatest!" Scootaloo exclaimed.
"Yeah, yeah, I know I am. Now hop on, Squirt," Rainbow Dash said as she flew over the school's fence and knelt down.
Scootaloo carefully mounted the older mare, making sure not to step on her tail or anything like that. Once she was on, Scootaloo gently wrapped her front hooves around Rainbow Dash's neck and let her back hooves hang off her sides. The filly gave her friends a wave goodbye as she said, "Later guys! I'll be back, I promise."
Before the other two could wave goodbye, Rainbow Dash had bolted off, breaking though the clouds that hovered in the sky above them.
Scootaloo clenched onto Rainbow Dash tightly. The speed at which the pegasus flew was like nothing Scootaloo had ever encountered. Even faster than one the express train! Scootaloo eyes remained glued shut from the get go, Scootaloo too afraid to even breathe. Her main shook vigorously in the wind, every stand of hair moved by the gust.
"How you doing back there?" Rainbow Dash yelled to Scootaloo, almost unaffected by the practically choking grip the filly had on her neck. After a few unresponsive seconds, Rainbow Dash added, "Don't worry, Squirt, I won't let you fall!"
As if somehow invigorated by the mare's reassuring words, Scootaloo slowly poked one eye half way open, staring forward. The wind that blew into her face caused tears to form in Scootaloo's open eye. She looked down to shield her vision from the air. As Rainbow Dash soared over the clouds, Scootaloo could also see patches of land below. Ants, building blocks, and broccoli was all Scootaloo could make out.
As the flight progressed, Scootaloo stopped shuddering and forced herself to open both of her eyes fully. In awe, Scootaloo gazed around the magnificent sky scenery. The sun that held above them spread a glistening look to the top of all the clouds. Scootaloo felt free. She loosened her grip on Rainbow Dash. In fact, she let go completely, just sitting on top of the pegasus, holding her hooves in the breeze. Scootaloo cheered as she finally realized the glorious feeling of flight.
"You like that, kid?" Rainbow Dash gladly asked. "Then hang on!"
Scootaloo rapidly complied, wrapping her hooves around Rainbow Dash once more. In a swift motion, Rainbow Dash sailed upwards and upside down. Though the trick only lasted a second, Scootaloo treasured the moment as it passed. Her mane falling towards the ground as she stared at the ground above them. Her knowing that she would simply fall the the earth had it not been for her secure embrace on Rainbow Dash made the trick all the more enjoyable.
As Scootaloo felt her body once again be pulled towards Rainbow Dash's body instead of towards the ground, she loosened her grip on the flying pegasus. Scootaloo stared straight at the glowing sun. She didn't know if it was the rushing wind bombarding her eyes or just the pure elation that she was experiencing, but Scootaloo shed a tear. She didn't wipe it off. She just let it get taken away with the current, like she had.
"So how was that, Squirt?"
At first, Scootaloo couldn't think of words to describe this moment, but the angel that carried her reminded Scootaloo of the perfect word. "Awesome."
