Today's the Day

BEEP! BEEP! BE-

Rainbow Dash eagerly rose out of bed and thrust her hoof onto the alarm clock by her bed.

"Today's the day!", the sky-blue mare said to herself sa she flew down from Cloudsdale. "The day the new Daring Do book comes out!"

As she landed with a thud in Ponyville, she saw something weird. She saw Fluttershy go into...Sugarcube Corner?

"Why would she be going to Sugarcube Corners? Angle doesn't even like cupcakes!"

Then, a sudden realization hit her.

Oh yeah, it's Gummy's birthday! I almost forgot!

"Oh, Rainbow Dash!", said a cheerful voice.

Rainbow Dash flew down frrom the cloud she was resting on and saw Pinkie with a folded piece of paper for her.

"Oh hey, Pinks! What's this?"

"It's an invitation, silly! It's to Gummy's birthday party!"

"Cool, when's the party?"

"It's in 2 days! Don't bring any presents, he'll being having too much fun to care!", Pinkie said, giggling.

"Don't you worry. I'll TOTALLY be there."

"Great! I knew I could count on you!", Pinkie said as she walked/bounced away.

"This stinks! I need the new Daring Do book, but Pinkie would TOTALLY hate me if I didn't go to Gummy's party. What do I do?"

The Plan

Rainbow Dash sulked and sighed as she tried to think of a way to make both Pinkie and herself happy.

"How can I go to the party and get the book at the same time? Hmm..."

Then, she got an idea.

"I got it! I can go to the party and stay for a little bit, leave without Pinkie knowing, buy the book, and come back!"

Dash sighed and put on a nervous smile as she walked into the loft above Sugarcube Corner, where she saw the rest of her friends enjoying the festivities.

"Dashie, you made it!", said Pinkie.

"Told'ja I was gonna make it. Where's the little birthday gator?"

"Gummy's over there!", Pinkie said and pointed a hoof to where Gummy was standing by the punch bowl.

"Oh, uh, where's the...um...bathroom?", RD said, trying to think of a way to leave.

"Downstairs, 3rd door on the right...", said a skeptic Pinkie Pie.

"Uh, thanks...."

As soon as Rainbow Dash went downstairs, she flew outside and tried to find the nearest bookstore. She also heard Pinkie shouting, "Ooh! This is my jam!", and thought to herself, Pinkie Pie, you are so random.

Busted...

Unfortunately for the rainbow-haired pegasus, Pinkie Pie heard the bell above the door ring as Rainbow Dash left (It's something you get after working at the most popular bakery in Ponyville for almost a year).

"Excuse me for a minute, everyone...", Pinkie said and raced downstairs after Rainbow Dash.

She ran outside and saw a streak of Rainbow go past her.

She started running as fast as she could after her and shouted, "RAINBOW DASH, YOU GET BACK HERE!"

Rainbow Dash started flying even faster.

Rainbow passed the bookstore, and hid in the alley behind it.

As soon as she saw Pinkie run past her, she quietly tip-toed into the store.

She flew as fast as she could into the 'Adventure' section of the store, grabbed the last copy of Daring Do on the shelf, and flew back to the counter.

The elderly cashier stuttered, "T-t-ten b-bits",and RD threw the right amount of bits on to the counter.

As she flew out of the store, she heard the cashier mutter out, "Th-thank you...C-come again!"

She flew as fast as she could back to the party, but as soon as she reached Sugarcube Corner, she saw something that nearly scared the life out of her.

Pinkie Pie. A very angry Pinkie Pie.

Well, she had been caught. Go directly to jail, do not pass GO, do not collect $200.

Kids, The Moral Of The Story Is...

Rainbow Dash sulked. She probably lost a friendship over a silly little book.

Pinkie Pie asked, "Why did you leave the party? Was it...boring?"

"N-no, I just wanted to buy the new Daring Do book.

"I can't hear you!"

"I said, I wanted to buy the new Daring Do book."

"Oh."

"It's my favorite series, and I really wanted to get it, but I didn't want to make you mad at me if I didn't go to the party..."

"I totally understand, Dashie!"

"You do?"

"Yeah, everyone knows that Daring Do is your, like, favorite book ever! If you wanted to get it, you could have just told me. And it doesn't matter when you get to the party, as long as you have a good time!"

"Thanks, Pinkie, you really know how to make someone feel better."

And the moral of the story is: ALWAYS be honest.

Rainbow Dash's Letter To Princess Celestia

Dear Princess Celestia,

Today, I learned two new things about the magic of friendship. The first thing that I learned is that you should always be honest, not just to your friends, but to everypony you meet, because lying is the absolute worst thing you can do to anypony. I learned this lesson the hard way, when I tried to get the new book in the Daring Do series through lying to Pinkie Pie. I made her mad, and risked losing a close friendship. I also learned that true friends stick together, through thick and thin. I learned this because even when there are problems in a friendship, the best of friends always stick together, no matter what. Just like when Discord attacked and made us all lose track of our true selves, we all sticked together and used the power of friendship to beat him.

Always loyal,

Rainbow Dash
