> Dashie and Derpy Misadventures! > by Midori_Kuroba > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Apology Cake > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dashie and Derpy in: Apology Cake Rainbow Dash and Derpy are flying home after a sending off party for Applejack, who was heading to a rodeo competition. Applejack had promised to earn money to pay for repairs to the main hall, which Derpy had been the one to damage of course. In fact at the event, Derpy continued to make things worse and worse, giving Rainbow Dash an extremely hard time. She was still upset about it, and it showed on her face as she flew. Derpy looked over at her, realizing that Rainbow Dash was mad, but she wasn’t quite sure why yet. She thought about it as they flew, ignoring the clouds that she passed through, until she had a thought about why. She had hurt Rainbow Dash a few times at the event, and she must be upset over it. She wasn’t sure, so she decided to ask. “Rainbow Dash?” Rainbow Dash doesn’t even look over, as she says in a deep and annoyed tone, “What?” Derpy cringes under her tone and bites her lower lip, not even wanting to ask anymore. But she builds up her courage and finally asks, “Are you mad at me?” Rainbow Dash just sighs and rubs her hoof on her forehead. She glances at Derpy for a moment, before returning her gaze to the skies ahead. “Let’s just get home, shall we? Maybe without any collateral damage this time?” Derpy cringes again under that comment. Okay, it was official, Rainbow Dash is definitely mad at her. She stares down at the ground far below, and smiles weakly looking back to the rainbow pegasi. “I’m really sorry about the lightning. Well, that and the pole. Oh, and the floor. A-And the…” Derpy notices Rainbow’s brow furrow even further, and Derpy’s ears fold back against her head. She looks up and blinks, not seeing Rainbow Dash anymore, and that’s when she faceplants into a cloud wall getting lodged from the waist up in it. She kicks her feet around, now stuck in the wall of Rainbow Dash’s house. Rainbow Dash crosses her front legs and hovers behind her, shaking her head. “Who crashes into a cloud? Even if it is my house, it’s made of cloud.” She bites the base of Derpy’s tail and tugs her out of the wall. Rainbow blinks and sees there’s a large hole in her wall now and glares at Derpy, who has it around her waist. “Now look what you did!” Derpy blinks and looks between the hole, and the cloud around her waist. “Look Rainbow Dash, I made you a new window, and I have a cloud tutu!” Derpy goes wide eyed and lies back on the ground shivering as Rainbow flies up and hovers with their faces not even an inch apart. Rainbow Dash begins to go red before she shouts, “Derpy! Go home!” She flies into her house and slams the door shut loudly. Derpy’s lip quivers as she stands on her hind legs and shuffles out of the cloud tutu. She stares at the door and mutters to herself, “I didn’t even know cloud could slam like that.” She hangs her head and flies away from the house and back towards the town. As she flies forward she stares down, talking to herself. “Rainbow Dash is so mad at me now. What am I going to do? I don’t want her to be mad at me. I want Rainbow Dash to be happy!” She blinks, and a smile grows on her face. “That’s it! I’ll do something nice for Rainbow Dash and make her happy! Yeah! But what could I-OOF!” She groans as she crashed into the side of some random house’s chimney, her tongue sticking out and her eyes swirling. She slowly falls backwards and straight into a passing wagon with a loud thud. She shakes off the dizziness, and peeks out at what was dragging the wagon along. She smiles, seeing it was, “Pinkie Pie!” Pinkie blinks and looks back, smiling and saying, “Oh, well hello there Ditzy Doo! Did you drop in to follow me to sugar cube corner?” Derpy taps her head with her hoof and thinks that question over. She sighs and says, “Actually, I’m looking for a way to make someone who’s mad at me… not mad at me! Pinkie Pie, what do you do when someone is mad at you?” Pinkie giggles and says, “Well that’s a silly question. I do what I always do, I throw them a party!” Derpy shakes her head and says, “I don’t think I could pull of a party without causing trouble for somepony. What about something smaller?” Pinkie thinks and says, “Well you could always bake them an apology cake.” Derpy smiles and squeals clapping her hooves together. “That’s perfect! I’ll bake Rainbow Dash a cake, and then she’ll be happy and forget all about all the things I messed up!” Pinkie Pie gasps and says, “This is for Dashie?! Well why didn’t you say so?! Let’s go bake a cake!” Pinkie sprints for the bakery, Derpy wobbling and falling on her back in the wagon. Once there, Pinkie rushes in, Derpy wobbling her way in after her. Pinkie pushes her to the kitchen, and begins taking out ingredients. “Okay, I’ve got everything set up for you to bake a cake!” Derpy blinks and frowns. “But I don’t know how to make a cake. I was hoping that you would make one, and I could give it to her.” Pinkie laughs and says, “You silly filly. If you want it to be a real apology cake, then you have to make it! That’s the only way that it comes from the heart.” Derpy blushes and says, “From the heart?” Pinkie nods till a rattling noise can be heard in her head. She finds a cook book, and by memory opens it to the page for a basic cake with her mouth. Derpy smiles and says, “Thanks for helping me Pinkie Pie!” The pink pony giggles again and says, “It’s my pleasure. I mean, what are friends for Ditzy? Now if you don’t mind, I’m going to go check up on Pumpkin and Pound Cake.” She hums as she skips out of the kitchen. Derpy nods and dips a hoof in the flour, spreading it across her cheeks like war paint and says, “Now it’s on! I’m going to make Rainbow Dash the best apology cake in the world!” She looks through the instruction to start things out. “Measure ingredients carefully.” She shrugs and digs through a drawer, taking out a ruler with her mouth and aiming it along each of the ingredients Pinkie Pie left out for her. “Umm… I think Pinkie Pie left out just enough, so I’m going to assume they measure perfect! Next!” She drops the ruler and looks at the book again. She reads through a few ingredients before she reads, “Use room-temperature eggs.” She blinks and touches a hoof to the eggs. “Oh no, the eggs are still cold!” She looks back at the instructions to read, “Chill can be removed from eggs by dipping them in warm water.” She smiles and nods, grabbing a pot and filling it with water before she puts it on the stove. She sets it to power boil and tosses the eggs in. “That will get the eggs warm super fast!” She plants her flank on the floor and sits there, her tongue sliding out of her mouth as she stares at the pot for a few minutes. Then she blinks and says, “Wait, I wonder if they’re done…” She walks up to the pot and flips it upside down on the floor, leaping in the air as she gets boiling hot water on her hooves. “YEOW!” She opens the freezer and flies in, sighing with relief. When she comes back out, she sees the eggs shells have cracked off, leaving them hard boiled on the floor. “Now if that’s not the opposite of cold, I don’t know what is!” She goes back to the book and skims through it again. “The butter should be at room temperature too.” She looks between the stick of butter and the pot, smiling. “I know what to do!” One very melted stick of butter later, she continues to read to find that Pinkie Pie already set out all the utensils she needs and pre heated the oven. Then she gets down to the cooking instructions. “Generously grease the inside of pan, bottom and sides.” She drags the pan over, and dips her hoof in the melted butter, rubbing it around on the inside of the pan until it was completely glazed in the dairy juice. Then she grabs it with her mouth and flips it over, rubbing more butter on the underside of the pan and the outer sides. “There! All finished!” She turns the page with a buttery hoof to continue the instructions. “Sprinkle with flour. No wonder cakes are so colorful and tasty! I thought you only added sprinkles after it was done!” She grabs a tube of sprinkles in her mouth and pours it in the pan, pouring flour in on top of it. “Sprinkles and flour! Let’s see, it says to shake pan to evenly coat.” She shrugs and grips the pan with her mouth, shaking her head up and down and back and forth, coating the entire upper half of her body in the powder and sprinkles, not to mention the counter and the floor. She sets the pan back down proudly and says, “This is easy peezy lemon squeezy. Tap out any excess flour.” She flips the pan on its side and hits the bottom of it, making a pile of the flour and sprinkles she hadn’t shaken out splash across the counter. “All done with preparations!” She pours the cake ingredients into a bowl, dropping the hard boiled eggs in, and mixes it up while whistling to herself. She waits till all the mix is moist and gooey, and pours it into the pan. She places her hooves on top of the oven handle to pull it open, and spits the pan into it, bucking it shut as she goes to check how long it needs to be in there. She stares between the clock and the oven until the allotted time has passed. She then opens the oven and flaps inside with her wings to cool things down, grabbing the cake between her hooves and dropping it on the counter top. She ooohs in aww as the cake had overflowed and covered the entire pan. “The pan melded with the cake! That’s so cool! And this cake is so pretty! Now I’m gonna make it prettier!” She digs around and finds some light blue frosting, pouring it on her hooves with her mouth before rubbing them all over the surface of the cake. She smothers it in the special light blue frosting, and claps her hooves together making an even bigger mess. “It looks just like Rainbow Dash! Oh wait.” She grabs a spoon and scoops up some of the flour covered rainbow sprinkles all over the counter, pouring them all over the cake. “Now it looks like Rainbow Dash!” She notices a cake icing tool meant for writing words and fancy decorating of the cake with icing, and quickly uses it to spell out ‘Sorry!’ in horrible hand writing on the cake. “Hooray! Now Rainbow Dash will have to forgive me! But it’s missing something. Something cool.” She taps her hoof to her chin, gasping with an idea as she rushes out of the room. She finds a closet and opens it, digging around. “Stuffed animals, diapers, button, chain, chocolate train… Aha! Perfect!” She rushes back to the kitchen and places a pair of sunglasses down on the cake under her apology. “Now this cake is super duper cool! Like freezy weezy it’s so cool!” Her ear flicks as she hears a bell ring as somebody walks into Sugarcube Corner. She hears Pinkie Pie hop down the stairs and say, “Oh hi Dashie! What brings you here? Do you need some cupcakes?” Derpy gasps and peeks out of the kitchen to see it is in fact Rainbow Dash, and she whispers a squeal of excitement. Rainbow Dash shakes her head and says, “Nah, I was just looking for you Pinkie. I figure if anyone can cheer me up today it’s you. Especially after Derpy-“ As if on cue Derpy burst from the kitchen, still covered in flour, sprinkles, and frosting as she shouts, “Have no fear Rainbow Dash! I got just the thing to cheer you up!” Rainbow Dash goes pale and says, “Oh my god, she’s here! What is she doing here?!” Pinkie Pie answers, “Baking a cake Dashie. Why else would she be covered in cake ingredients? Helloooo?” She rolls her eyes and trots over to Derpy. Derpy dances around excitedly and says, “Wait here Rainbow Dash! I made you something!” As Derpy goes back into the kitchen, Rainbow jumps in the air and goes for the door as fast as she can, coming to an abrupt stop as Pinkie was blocking the door, scowling at her. “What are you doing Pinkie?! Get out of the way! I need to get out of here before she comes back!” “Rainbow Dash, how could you be so rude?!” Rainbow blinks and starts to shrink under Pinkie’s leering eyes. “You march back there and accept whatever it is that Ditzy Doo has made for you! Now move it!” Rainbow gulps and rapidly scurries backwards, sighing as she leans on the front counter. She yelps as a pan is slammed on the counter next to her, holding her chest with her hoof as she catches her breath. She looks at the cake with a raised eyebrow and says, “What the heck is this!” Derpy shuffles her hoofs around blushing and says, “It’s something I made with all my heart! What do you think?” Rainbow gulps and looks back at Pinkie, who gives her a ‘go on’ gesture. She looks over the cake and rubs at it with her hoof, revealing the metal pan blinking. “Um, where do I start? The colors and the sunglasses are cool in all, but it looks like you expect me to eat a pan with the cake? And these perfectly good sunglasses are ruined now, they’re covered in frosting! And what does this even say? I can’t read this. Fowwy? Sammy? What is…” She begins to sweat as she notices tears forming in Derpy’s eyes. “What are you doing? D-Don’t do that.” Derpy begins to sniff, taking deeper breath after deeper breath. “No! No no no no! Derpy, please don’t-“ Derpy bursts into tears, crying loudly as her tears flow onto the floor like waterfalls. “Cry. Ah geese, what did I do now?” Derpy sniffles and mutters through her sobs, “You don’t like my apology cake! And I worked so hard on it too! I just wanted to tell you I was sorry and make you happy after everything I did! I just… I just…” She lays on the floor, crying into her hooves now. Rainbow cringes and her ears fold back, biting her lower lip as she felt horrible now. She could tell it said ‘Sorry!’ at this point, and felt awful. “Oh Derpy, you went through all that trouble just to apologize to me?” Derpy sniffles and nods. “Uh huh, because you’re my friend Rainbow Dash, and I don’t want you to be mad at me!” Rainbow Dash groans and shakes her head, putting her nose to the bottom of Derpy’s chin and lifting it up. “Look at me Derpy-“ “Looking.” “-Even if I get mad at you, I don’t hate you or anything. You’re a sweet girl with your heart in the right place. And even if I yell and snap at you, that don’t stop you from being my friend.” Derpy wipes her cross eyes and sniffles. “You really mean that Dash?” Rainbow wraps her front legs around Derpy, making the messy girl blush in surprise. Rainbow Dash nods and says, “Yes, I really do” She walks over to the cake and dips her face into it, taking a big bite. She struggles to chew and gulps it down. “It’s not half bad! But it tasted kind of eggy.” Derpy smiles cheering and bouncing around the room in an excited manner. Rainbow Dash giggles and says, “Alright, alright. Apology accepted. Are you satisfied?” Derpy shakes her head vigorously, Pinkie giggling and smiling softly at the two. Derpy tries to shake off some of the mess and says, “Now that all that is done, I better go home and clean up.” Rainbow Dash places a hoof on her back and says, “How about I walk you home, Ditzy Doo.” Derpy blushes yet again, smiling as she hears Rainbow Dash speak her name. “That sounds wonderful, Dashie.” It’s Rainbow Dash’s turn to blush as she looks away with a nervous giggle. Pinkie Pie opens the door for them as they walk out together. She waves them good bye, Derpy staring back until she shuts the door and then making a quick peek around the area. She kisses Rainbow Dash on the cheek and says, “I love you Dashie.” Rainbow Dash sighs with a smile and says, “I love you too… my… little muffin” End Part 1 > Story Time > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dashie and Derpy in: Story Time Rainbow Dash sighs contently reading the adventures of Daring Do, already on the second day of her time in the hospital. She hears voices approaching and gulps, wondering if her friends were back to visit her and interrupt her story yet again. She groans and sticks the book behind her pillow saying, “For crying out loud! What’s a girl gotta do to get some privacy around here?” A familiar little unicorn filly comes trotting in with a cheer. “Hooray! I win, because I found you first!” Rainbow Dash blinks and says, “Dinky? What are you doing here in the hospital? Does your mom know you came to visit me?” Dinky giggles and says, “Of course she does, momma is here too!” A loud thud can be heard against the wall outside. “There she is.” Derpy waddles into the room a little off balance, the world spinning for her. She shakes it off and smiles seeing Rainbow Dash. “Found you! Dinky, and Rainbow Dash, and… a mummy!” She tilts her head looking at the other pony in a full body cast in the room. Then she rushes over and nuzzles against Rainbow Dash. “I heard you were in the hospital from breaking your wing yesterday. I found out after visiting hours so I couldn’t visit. Are you okay?” Rainbow chuckles and messes up Derpy’s mane with her hoof. “I’m fine Derpy, my wing will be all better before you know it.” Derpy shakes her head and says, “That’s not what I meant silly! It must be so boring in here all alone with nothing to do, so I decided to bring everyone to say hi!” Rainbow Dash blinks and says, “Wait, what do you mean by everyone?” At that moment a pair of familiar faces comes walking in. Derpy giggles and says, “You remember my adopted daughter Amethyst Star and my roommate Golden Harvest right?” Rainbow smiles and says, “Of course! Hey Sparkler, hey Carrot Top.” Golden Harvest growls at her nickname, and Amethyst just giggles poking fun at her since she enjoyed hers. “Look, Derpy, I really appreciate this, but I should really focus on getting rest.” Derpy frowns, looking absolutely heartbroken. “But… I came all the way here with everyone just to cheer you up. Don’t you want to spend any time together?” She sniffles and begins to tear up. Rainbow gasps and flails her arms as she says, “No, don’t cry! I do, honest, it’s just…” She sighs and takes out the book behind her pillow. “I’m an egghead, and I really want to finish this story. It’s so good, but I don’t want any of my friends to know.” Carrot Top blinks and says, “Then why are you openly telling us?” Rainbow shrugs and says, “I repeat, don’t want any of my ‘friends’ to know. I’m fine with Derpy and her daughters knowing because they’re kind of like family to me. It’s different.” Sparkler, Derpy, and Dinky all “Aww!” at that and cuddle up with her, avoiding her wing. Carrot Top says, “Well what about me?” Rainbow just stares at her with a raised eyebrow and smirks. “What about you?” Carrot Top growls and says, “You know what, you guys have fun cheering her up! I’ve got better things to do than stand here and be insulted by the town tomboy anyways!” She huffs and marches out of the room mumbling a little rant. A nurse comes in after her with a tray of food for Rainbow Dash. As she sets it down on her stomach, Dinky looks at the book and says, “So how does this book make you an egghead?” Derpy bops Rainbow on the head with her hoof and says, “Yeah, books don’t give you egg heads. Then your head would be easy to crack open. And then your brains would fall on the sidewalk and be all yolk and stuff. And then they would go psssss because it’s hot, and I scramble them up because I can’t make sunny side up-“ Rainbow groans and interrupts, “I get it Derpy! I don’t mean in a literal sense, I mean in an intelligent sense. Like people that read books all the time.” Derpy smiles and says, “Ohhh! I get it! Well if you’re an egghead for that, then I’m an egghead too, because I’m super smart and read books all the time.” The nurse chortles and says, “Last time I checked Derpy, you were the town buffoon! You’re the exact opposite of an egghead. Why don’t you go watch some paint dry, I’m sure that’s more down to your level of entertainment? As she laughs some more, everyone seems ready to assault the nurse. Derpy holds up an arm and shakes her head at everyone, getting in the girls face and making her sweat a little. “Is that so? So I suppose you can tell me the amount of time it takes for light to travel through the vacuum of space to reflect off the planet’s surface to create the pigment of color in our eyes of the top of your head?” The lady blinks and begins to stutter. “Well, I-I… you-“ “Eight minutes!” Derpy smiles and furrows her brow. “How about how many eggs a queen bee can lay in one day, or how many days until they hatch?” The nurse’s eyes get beady as she begins to sweat. “Well, I don’t know, but-“ Derpy moves forward, making the nurse back up as she continues, “She can lay fifteen hundred a day, and they hatch in three days and eat a special milk called royal jelly before they mature! You see, I can spout random facts all day from what I’ve read in books, but it would just hurt your puny little brain!” The nurse’s mane begins to frizz and mess up as she looks horrified at this point. “I may have funny eyes, and talk weird, but I’m not stupid! You’re stupid! You’re not even an ignoramus, you’re a dog! So why don’t you go play fetch or something, dog!” Everyone’s mouths hang open as they stare, the nurse’s eyes turning to face opposite directions as she begins to laugh. “You’re right, I’m a dog!” She begins to bark and runs in a circle before rushing into the hall barking like a maniac. Several doctors can be heard yelling as they try to subdue the crazed pony. Derpy smirks triumphantly and marches back over to the group. Rainbow Dash is the first to say, “Whoa… What. Was that?” Sparkler smirks and shouts, “Go mom!” Dinky sighs and says, “Don’t you think that was a little harsh mommy?” Derpy shakes her head and says, “Nobody makes fun of me like that to my face and gets away with it anymore.” She looks at the book and says, “This book gives me an idea! I love Daring Do, so we should do something Daring Do related!” Rainbow blinks and says, “You read Daring Do?” Derpy nods and says, “Sure I do! I’ve read half of Twilight’s collection! Now how about we play story time?” Sparkler and Dinky gasp and clap their hooves cheering. Rainbow looks between them confused and says, “What’s story time?” Derpy trots next to Rainbow and wraps an arm around her shoulder. “It’s easy! We’re going to make a story together. One of us tells part of a story, and then the next pony tells the next part. We take turns and have lots of fun doing it!” Rainbow Dash gulps and says, “I don’t know, I’m not very good at making stuff up.” Derpy frowns and says, “Sure you are Dashie, you make up flight moves all the time! You’re always getting creative with them moves.” Rainbow Dash blinks and rubs her head thinking that over. “You know you’re right. I guess I can be pretty creative!” Derpy snatches the book up in her mouth and sets it on the floor. “You and I can tell a wonderful story together!” Dinky bounces up and down and says, “Momma tells the best stories! They’re always so colorful and fun!” Sparkler giggles and says, “Careful Rainbow Dash, if you’re telling a story with mom, you’re going to have to be patient. I learned that the hard way.” Rainbow gulps not liking the sound of that, but when she sees the joy in Derpy’s eyes she can’t bring herself to deny them. “Fine, let’s tell a story together.” She smiles and ruffles Derpy’s hair, making her giggle. “Can it be about Daring Do?” Derpy nods fast enough to make her eyes bobble and says, “Sure can! I’ll start us off.” She clears her through and takes a quick breath. “Daring Do was deep in the rainforest, searching for rumored ruins of a civilization of dragons. The trees were super tall, so she couldn’t see anything from the air and had to walk on the ground. She saw a wild piggy, and a wild kitty, and some wild ants-“ “Yeah yeah, but what is she looking for at the ruins?” Rainbow Dash begins to look a little anxious. Derpy giggles and says, “Well, why don’t you tell us what she’s looking for?” She nudges Rainbow Dash while Dinky hops up on to the bed and gets comfy, Sparkler sitting on the floor and listening. Rainbow blinks and thinks for a moment. “Hmm… I got it! She’s searching for the diamond dragon egg! An ancient relic, which is said to be deep in a pyramid! It’s surrounded by booby traps too, and maybe a dragon!” Derpy giggles and says, “Sounds like she’s got her work cut out for her. That’s why she brought along her partner named… err, Dizzy Danger!” Rainbow tilts her head and says, “Huh? I don’t remember her having a partner named Dizzy Danger.” Derpy bites her lower lip and says, “Well, s-she comes in a later book, and helps out Daring Do sometimes! You’re only on the first book. Anyways, Dizzy Danger can be very clumsy pegasus at times, but she somehow always comes through for Daring Do in the end!” “You don’t say?” Rainbow Dash smirks, winking at the girls who join her giggling. “So I guess Daring Do and Dizzy Danger travel through the rainforest, until they stumble across the ancient dragon ruins! The entrance is shaped like a giant dragon’s head with an open mouth!” Derpy smiles and adds, “Yeah! He also is wearing sunglasses, because the dragons are cool. And the entrance smells minty fresh, because the dragon always brushes his teeth.” “Derpy, it’s a statue!” Rainbow shakes her head with a grunt. “Oops! Sorry. So, they go into the mouth thingy?” Rainbow nods and says, “Yes, and when they come out on the other side they see an ancient city! There are huge buildings everywhere, obviously signs of blacksmiths, and potters, and other things that resemble our own civilization!” “Like an ice cream shop, because they liked to cool down after breathing fire all day.” Derpy grins big enjoying herself. Rainbow sighs and says, “Fine, there’s ancient ice cream. And in the center of the city is the giant pyramid where the diamond egg laid hidden from the world!” Derpy continues, “After they raid some ‘ancient ice cream’ they go to the pyramid. It has a huge staircase going up the side, and Dizzy says ‘They should have invented escalators with buildings this big. How are we going to climb such big steps Daring Do?’” Rainbow smirks and says, “Daring Do says they’ll fly up, because they have wings! So they fly to the top of the pyramid together, where they find… they find…” Rainbow rubs her head trying to think of something. Derpy bounces up and down and says, “Oh! I know, they find a puzzle that they need to figure out. There’s three buttons with different cloud pictures on them. The clouds are in different shapes though. There’s one that shaped like a dragon, and there’s one that shaped like a pony, and then there’s one that’s shaped like a cloud-“ “But Derpy, what do these symbols have to do with getting into the pyramid?” Derpy shrugs and Rainbow gets to thinking again. She gasps and says, “Daring Do realizes there’s towers facing North South East and West, and they have pictures on them that look similar to the clouds! So starting with the one they were facing behind the puzzle, she goes clockwise with them pressing the buttons in the order they appeared on the towers. Then the floor turns into an elevator, taking them straight down into the heart of the pyramid!” Derpy says, “Dizzy waves good bye to the sun, and then gets super scared when there’s no light. She cuddles up close to Daring, until she lights a torch and lights up the area. Then they can see four pathways around them in the same directions of the towers. Dizzy remembers that one way had a dragon, two ways had ponies, and one way had a cloud!” Rainbow smiles and adds, “Hey, I think that could actually be important! Daring Do says that to Dizzy and thinks what the symbols could mean. The pony paths might be traps for ponies, and the way with the dragon could be where the dragon guarding the temple is. Then she realizes that last shape wasn’t a cloud, but an egg! So the egg has to be down the egg path! Daring Do rushes down that path with Dizzy close on her tail!” “Especially since Dizzy was nervous, and was nibbling on Daring’s tail. Daring was so fast, she pulled Dizzy right off her feet and dragged her along!” Derpy makes whoosh noises flailing her arms around as if she was flying. “And then they come to this big open room that’s filled with water, and they can see because there’s sunlight coming through a hole in the ceiling. And the hole looks like a banana, so Dizzy names the banana Fred.” Dash continues, “Scanning the area, Daring Do sees that there is a stone bridge that leads over the water to an altar in the middle of the room. And there, glistening in light flowing from the hole in the ceiling-“ “His name is Fred,” Derpy demands interrupting her. “Fine, in the light coming from ‘Fred’ Daring Do can see the diamond dragon egg! It glistens and glows and sparkles!” She smirks and looks at Derpy from the corner of her eye and says, “You would even say it looked like a disco ball.” Derpy gasps excitedly and says, “It would look like a disco ball!” Sparkler and Dinky giggle at their mom’s enthusiasm. Rainbow Dash chuckles with them and says, “Daring Do bravely flies over to the precious relic, and she waits. She waits, and she waits, and then she grabs it!” Derpy gasps and says, “Oh no! She set off a trap! The ruins begin to shake and crumble, and Dizzy rushes to Daring’s side because she can hear something coming! And then the way they came in is destroyed as a big red dragon bursts into the room! And he’s an evil dragon, you can tell because he has one of those skinny moustaches that bad guys like to twirl. And a monocle! No, two monocles! One for each eye because he lives underground and can’t see very well.” Rainbow Dash rolls her eyes and says, “Why don’t we throw in a top hat and call him Big Ben?” Derpy exclaims, “Great idea Dashie!” Rainbow blinks and slaps her hoof to her forehead with a groan. Derpy is blissfully unaware of this as she continues, “Big Ben is greedy, and mad, because that egg belongs to him. He was going to use it for a disco dance party with his friends, but none of them showed up, and then his bathtub flooded and covered the dance floor in water. But he waited anyways and nobody came for a thousand years! Dizzy Danger wanted to find a way to escape, but Daring Do was brave so she flew over and she kicked him in his face!” “Now you’re talking!” Rainbow smirks and says, “She bucked him right in the nose, and when he tried to eat her she kicked out some of his teeth and flew out of his mouth! Then she stomped on one of his toes, making him jump around in pain, holding his foot.” Derpy claps her hooves as the girls got excited. “Then Dizzy wants to help her friend, so she flies over and she breaks his monocles so he can’t see! And then she rips off part of his moustache, and he gets really angry and throws a temper tantrum.” “Not just any temper tantrum,” Rainbow continues, pausing for dramatic effect. “But a tantrum filled with fire and roaring and smashing! His fire is so hot it… it lights the water on fire! And his roaring and smashing make the entire area start to fall apart!” Derpy gasps in terror. “Oh no, do they get out okay?” Rainbow Dash just stares at her with her eyes half closed, making Derpy blush. “Oh right… Err, Dizzy suggests that their safest bet it to fly towards Fred and see where he leads!” Rainbow smiles and nods saying, “Daring Do leads the way hugging the diamond dragon egg close as she goes towards the hole, flying out with Dizzy just in time as the entire pyramid collapses! A-And explodes! And it’s super dramatic too!” Derpy flails her arms and says, “That’s so cool! And they don’t look back either, because cool ponies don’t look at explosions. They blow stuff up and then they fly away.” She nods matter-of-factly, making everyone laugh. “Then they go home and have a disco dance party, because the egg makes a really good disco ball. All their friends come, and they eat bananas, and then Daring Do falls in love with Dizzy Danger! And then they get married and they go treasure hunting for their honey moon!” Everyone stares at Derpy, Rainbow Dash blushing enough to make an apple look pink. Derpy just grins innocently looking at Rainbow, who just smiles and hugs her close. She messes up her mane and says, “The. End.” Sparkler and Dinky cheer and bounce around excitedly. Dinky says, “That story was so cool! Will you tell us another story with mommy when you get out of the hospital Rainbow Dash?” Sparkler giggles and says, “It was definitely interesting, that’s for sure! You have to do this for us again sometime.” Rainbow Dash chuckles and says, “Sure thing kids, anything for you two rascals.” The two of them cheer again, Derpy giggling and saying, “Alright girls it’s time to go home. Now go wait outside, I have something to give Rainbow Dash.” She shoos the out of the room and they quickly trot out, talking about their favorite parts of the story with each other. Rainbow Dash raises an eyebrow wondering what Derpy wanted to give her. “You know your food is getting cold.” Rainbow Dash makes a disgusted face, staring down at the food that had been on her stomach all along. “I think it was cold when they gave it to me. Honestly, I think they want me to starve. So what did you want to give me?” Derpy reaches under her wing, unfolding it to reveal a concealed muffin, which she lays on Rainbow Dash’s food tray. “I baked it right before I came over here. A muffin for my muffin, that’s you.” She blushes as she nuzzles up against Rainbow Dash. Rainbow Dash smiles and takes a small bite. “This is blueberry, my favorite!” She sets it down and gives Derpy a kiss, their lips locking shocking Derpy who melts into the kiss. “Thanks Ditzy Doo, I really appreciate this.” Rainbow Dash winks at Derpy, making her wings spring outward. Derpy gulps and sweats, trying to push them back down. “Err, anytime Rainbow Dash. I’ve got to go take the girls home, but make sure that when you get out that we get to hang out again. Okay love?” Rainbow Dash nods and says, “You betcha. Bye love, see you when I get out!” Derpy nods and trots out of the room, leaving Rainbow Dash to get back to her book with one hoof, and eat the muffin she was given with the other. End Part 2 > How they met (V-Day Special) > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dashie and Derpy in: How they met (Valentine’s Day Special) Derpy giggles at her reflection below, peeking over the railing to a bridge into the water. She makes a few faces before turning around to the Doctor, a close friend of hers. “You sure you don’t want to make a few faces at the water Doctor? It’s fun to see what you look like.” The Doctor chuckles and says, “No thank you Derpy. Your adorable antics are entertaining enough.” Derpy giggles and says, “Thank you. Doctor, why don’t we hang out anymore? You’re super fun and really sweet.” The Doctor shakes his head and says, “I’ve just been really busy lately Derpy. I’m still trying to find a new assistant.” Derpy tilts her head and says, “I could be your assistant Doctor. Or are you afraid I’ll-“ “No!” The Doctor exclaims and pauses for a moment, looking at the slightly hurt Derpy. “Um, n-no Derpy, you can’t be my assistant. It’s not that I expect you to be a screw up or anything, it’s just… personal.” Derpy scowls and says, “Personal how Doctor? You’ve been hiding something from me for a while and I demand to know what it is!” The Doctor shakes his head and says, “I’m sorry Derpy, but I can’t tell you! It’s for the best.” Derpy hangs her head and says, “Are you in love with me Doctor? Is that why you’ve been acting so strange?” The Doctor smiles, as a tear comes to his eye. “Fascinating, for you to be able to see through me even after the loss of your-“ The Doctor freezes and turns away. Derpy blinks and jolts upright with curiosity. “Wait a minute, the loss of me what?!” The Doctor shakes his head and says, “It’s for the best that you spend Hearts and Hooves Day with your special somepony Derpy. I’m sorry, but I’ve got to go.” “Wait!” But it was too late. The Doctor had run off so fast he splashed mud all over a pair of young fillies. Derpy sighs and says, “What did he mean by that? I just don’t understand. Well, I can’t let that get me down. I have to get home before my girlfriend shows up.” She flutters off the ground and zips through the air, zigzagging and loopy looping through the air in an odd flight pattern back to the house. Meanwhile, Rainbow Dash has just arrived at her home and knocks on the door. Hanging from her waist was a small bag for carrying an unknown object. When the door opens she finds Dinky there to greet her. “Hi miss Rainbow Dash! Did you come for a visit?” Rainbow Dash smiles and messes up the filly’s mane and says, “That’s right, Dinky. In fact I have a gift for your mom, so is she home?” As if on cue, Derpy crashes into the wall next to her with a loud adorable, “Derp!” The side of her face is presses against the wall and her tongue is sticking out as she blinks and says, “Hi love! I think I bit my tongue!” Rainbow Dash giggles at the adorable girl and says, “Nice to see you too Derpy.” She sets Derpy upright and examines the side of her face. “You okay dear?” Derpy blushes and tries to push her hoof away. “Come on Dashie, I’m fine. I’ve had worse accidents.” Rainbow smiles and kisses her cheek. “Just making sure you’re alright sweetie. Now let’s get inside and exchange gifts.” Dinky giggles and trots inside, Rainbow Dash and Derpy following closely as they all walked into the living room. Sparkler and Carrot Top were sitting on the couch talking. “Hey girls, got nowhere else to be today?” Both girls blush as Carrot is the first to answer. “I’d rather be alone today than force myself to be with one of the odd boys in this town. I’ll just wait till someone more decent becomes available.” Rainbow Dash coughs “Forever alone” earning a glare from the orange haired pony. Sparkler giggles and blushes avoiding looking at Rainbow Dash. “I don’t really have a special somepony, but it’s fine. Me and Dinky went and got some sugar cookies from Sugarcube Corner and enjoyed them with auntie Golden Harvest.” Rainbow Dash smirks and says, “Then why can’t you look at me? What’s wrong? Hiding something?” Sparkler gulps and leaps from the couch. “Who wants some of those cookies? I’ll go get some!” She hurries off while Rainbow Dash snickers at her. Derpy rushes into the kitchen and comes back with a box decorated with ribbons and glitter hanging from her mouth. She sets it down and says, “Happy Hearts and Hooves Day love!” Rainbow Dash blinks as the box was the size of her head. “Wow love, I don’t know what it is, but you shouldn’t have!” She rips open the top of the box opening it, and gasps nearly falling over backwards. Inside the box was a gigantic, solid, chocolate heart! “Holy freak show, is that what I think it is?!” Derpy nods and says, “I made it with all my love just for you!” Rainbow Dash licks her lips and says, “You must have had a lot of love to put in this thing then. May I?” Derpy nods and says, “I’d be insulted if you didn’t!” Rainbow Dash takes a big chunk out of the chocolate heart, munching it down. Derpy claps her hooves together and says, “Yay, you love it! Alright, now what did you get me?” Rainbow Dash gulps down the chocolate and licks the excess from her lips. She blushes and says, “Well, it’s a little out of character for me I know, but I wanted to make you something Derpy. I got Rarity to teach me, and made you this.” She reaches back into the bag, and pulls out and grey and yellow striped scarf and wraps it around her neck. “It’s still spring time, and it can get a little chilly outside. I know it’s not as good as your gift but-“ She’s interrupted by a hug from a teary eyed Derpy. “Rainbow Dash, I love you! You actually knit me something, and it’s so lovely and warm! Thank you, Dashie. I love you.” Rainbow Dash tears up and hugs her back saying, “I love you too muffin. I love you too.” The girls, even Carrot Top, tear up for a group, “Awwww.” Sparkler sets down the plate of cookies she was carrying on a coffee table and says, “You two are so cute together! I wish I knew the story for that one!” Carrot Top nods and says, “Actually, I’m kind of curious how you two ended up together myself. Care to tell us?” Dinky gasps and jumps up and down excitedly. “Please mommy! Tell us the story! Please?” Derpy blinks and looks to Rainbow, who just giggles and says, “What are you looking at me for? You don’t need my permission goofball.” Derpy smiles and says, “Well I guess it couldn’t hurt.” Rainbow Dash hops up on to the couch, and Derpy joins her snuggled up against her side closely. Her daughters sat in front of her as they and Carrot listened. “You see, it all started way back when me and Rainy here were first assigned with each other to fetch some clouds from over the everfree forest…” ----------------------------------------------------------------- “Okay everyone, a small problem. It seems we have a shortage of clouds for today’s weather forecast.” An orange male pegasus calls out over a crowd of others as they hover in the shy. “We won’t be getting any from Cloudsdale in time, so we need to make the best of what we’ve got.” One girl cries, “But Sunburst, how are we going to make the best if we can’t do anything with what little we have? We need more!” Sunburst sighs and says, “Look, we would have more, but a majority of our clouds drifted over the everfree forest. Unless you want to fly over it and drag them back here, we need to try.” Rainbow Dash flies up to him and says, “And just why wouldn’t we do that? Are you scared something’s going to each up into the sky and grab you? We need those clouds to make it rain, so stop being a baby and let’s go get those clouds!” Everyone begins to cheer and agree with her, Sunburst sighing with a smile. “Alright, alright, but we’re going to stick together. Alright I need everyone in pairs of two.” He begins listing off names and assignments, coming back to Rainbow and saying, “Rainbow Dash, since you’re the fastest I’m going to pair you up with one of our tougher cloud pushers Ditzy Doo. I need you two to go fetch the largest collection of our clouds from that small mountain peak and rush them back here.” Rainbow Dash salutes him and looks to Ditzy Doo. She’d heard rumors of the ditzy and her destructive clumsiness. She floats over and says, “Looks like we’re working together on this one. I’m Rainbow Dash. You’re… Ditzy Doo?” The wall eyed pony nods and says, “That’s me! But everyone calls me Derpy Hooves. I don’t mind too much.” Rainbow Dash giggles and says, “You shouldn’t mind, that’s a cute nickname!” Derpy blinks and smiles. “You really think so?” Rainbow Dash nods and says, “Yeah, nicknames show a lot of character. And I like yours. Now come on, we got a job to do.” She flies off towards the peak they were assigned to, blinking after a few seconds noticing she didn’t hear Derpy following. She comes to a stop and peeks back to see the silly pony floating around in curves and loops, humming a tune. “Uh, Derpy… maybe you would fly faster if you flew straight?” Derpy frowns and says, “But if I don’t fly my own way, then how do I express myself? And besides it’s fun.” Rainbow Dash sighs and says, “I guess I can understand that, but we’re in a hurry. The rest of the crew needs those clouds to make rain for Ponyville before it’s too late. So could you fly straight just this once?” Derpy sulks and says, “Okay…” Rainbow Dash smiles and continues to fly forward; slowing down a little so the other pony could keep up. As they finally reach the clouds she says, “Okay, you start pushing them, and I’ll help you out to make it go a little faster. I’ll start by flying that way, and I’ll come back as fast as I can! With all the momentum I build up, we should send this baby soaring!” Derpy smiles and says, “Okey dokey artichokey!” She flies behind the cloud and begins to push as Rainbow Dash flies off at high speed, trying to get a good distance. As Derpy pushes the cloud from the mountain, she notices something visible on the rocky cliffs. She squints, curious what it was. Then she gasps as several loud screeches fill the air, and the figures begin to fly towards her. “Harpies!” The humanoid creatures had talons for feet and wings for arms, mouths filled with razor sharp teeth, and eyes like demons. Their stench was enough to make your nose fall off, and their screeches were loud enough to make your ears ring. “Rainbow Dash, help me!” Rainbow Dash blinks and comes to a stop, looking back and gasping as she can see and hear a swarm of harpies chasing Derpy by the cloud. “Hold on Derpy! I’m coming!” She flies as fast as she can possibly muster, charging straight for the scene and arriving in time to slam into one, knocking her away from Derpy. “Who would’ve guessed it? These harpies must have stolen our cloud to use it as cover for their nests!” Derpy scowls and says, “Well they can get their own cloud!” She gasps and kicks one that tries to sneak attack Rainbow Dash. “Leave her alone you doody heads!” Rainbow Dash growls and bounces between them, bucking them back. “Derpy, you need to fly away! I’ll hold them off!” Derpy shouts, “No! You’re faster and I’m stronger, I’ll hold them off!” Rainbow Dash glares at her and says, “This is no time to argue! Just do as I say!” Derpy shakes her head and cries, “No!” She then rushes through the center of the harpies, the majority of them giving chase. “I’ll just lead them away if you won’t run!” Rainbow Dash gasps and follows as fast as she can. “No Derpy, don’t!” But it was too late, as Derpy couldn’t outrun them. Several of the harpies swarmed her and began lashing at her with their talons. Derpy cries out as one of them rakes her talons along her wings, and she begins to plummet. The harpies’ laughter at this misfortunate event is interrupted by a cyan pony bursting through their group, sending them all reeling backwards. They’re too dizzy to give chase this time, and those that are not try to help the ones that are stay afloat. “Hang on Derpy, I’m coming!” She flies as fast as she can, catching Derpy in freefall and making a ninety degree turn just before hitting the ground. She swerves between trees as best she can, but one gets a good hit to her wing and her flying is thrown for a loop until she twirls straight into a muddy bog. Rainbow Dash coughs and struggles to get up, gasping and dragging Derpy out of the bog. She groans and as she was covered in scratches and dirt now. She groans and slowly opens her eyes, looking up at Rainbow Dash who was also covered in dirt and had her wing bent the wrong way, panting and staring down at her. “I’m sorry Rainbow Dash… I should’ve listened to you. I just wanted to helpful, but I just cause trouble. That’s all I ever do, for everyone.” “Derpy, if you weren’t already in so much pain I’d smack you!” Derpy blinks and tilts her head confused at Rainbow Dash’s outburst. “If you let what people say get to you, and spend your life trying to prove them wrong, then of course you’re just going to keep messing up! Do things at your pace, be yourself and do what you’re capable of. Don’t be afraid to push yourself, but don’t be so brave that you go too far! Is this making any sense to you?” Derpy blinks in surprise and says, “Actually it does… No one’s ever said anything like that to me. It’s… nice.” She smiles, but cringes as a surge of pain comes over her. “My body is on fire!” Rainbow Dash struggles with the girl, but manages to get her up onto her own back. “We got to get you to a hospital before those wounds get infected.” Derpy cringes and says, “Just leave me here and go get help. I’ll be fine.” Rainbow starts walking and says, “Don’t be silly, I’m not leaving you alone in the middle of the everfree forest. And besides, my wings busted too so I wouldn’t be able to get back fast enough to help you. We’re going together, and that’s final. Got it?” Derpy folds her ears back and stares at the ground. “Yes mam…” The time goes by as Rainbow Dash carries Derpy through the forest, trying to find a convenient route through the thick trees and foothills. After she balances her way across a tree laid over a river like a bridge, she begins to wobble and grunt. “Rainbow Dash, is everything okay?” Rainbow Dash huffs and says, “I’m fine… But you are a little heavy. What have you been eating?” Derpy blushes and says, “I like muffins, is that a crime?” Rainbow Dash snickers and says, “You’ve got to cut back on those. They must be what made your butt look so chunky.” Derpy’s face goes red as she begins to stutter cutely, making Rainbow Dash laugh. “Shut up! I do not have a chunky butt!” Derpy bites her lower lip, and begins to snicker as well. She cringes and says, “Don’t make me laugh you big meanie.” Rainbow Dash tries to bring her laughter to a halt, smirking at the girl. “Sorry, I couldn’t help it.” She grunts as she climbs over a fallen tree in her path, trying to be careful about it so Derpy doesn’t fall. “You know, I’m curious, could you really of pushed that entire cloud by yourself?” Derpy blinks at the sudden question and says, “Well, yeah, but it wouldn’t of been very fast.” Rainbow Dash smiles and says, “That’s the difference between you and me though. I may have speed, but that’s nothing if I’m not strong enough to move a cloud. Speed and strength are two sides of the same coin.” Derpy smiles and says, “I never thought of it like that. I guess I really am a special pony after all.” Rainbow Dash nods and says, “That’s the spirit!” Derpy nuzzles into the back of Rainbow Dash’s neck and closes her eyes at peace. “Thank you Rainbow Dash, that meant a lot to me.” It’s Rainbow Dash’s turn to blush now as she says, “H-Hey, think nothing of it. Sometimes you just need someone to tell you how great you are.” “You’re great to you know. You saved my life, risking your own. You’re my hero… Rainbow… Dash…” She leans forward and gives Rainbow Dash a kiss on the cheek before falling asleep on her back. Rainbow’s good wing springs upward and she stares back at the girl with a sigh and a smile. “What a goofy girl.” She blinks and notices the end of the forest was finally in view. She hurries as fast as she can, which wasn’t much faster than she was already going, trying to get out before their luck ran out and something attacked them. As she comes out of the forest, she’s greeted by a group of shocked pegasus, who rush to her aid. “Somepony help! She needs medical attention!” Before she could get bombarded with worried questions, the stress on her weak and injured body finally got to her and she blacked out. When she came to she could see Sunburst and the rest of the cloud crew around her bed in the hospital. She cringes as her wing surged with pain, and looks around wearily. “Hey everypony, I must’ve had you all pretty worried. Ugh, my wing hurts so badly.” Sunburst laughs and says, “The doctors had to surgically bend it back into the correct joints and preened some of your feathers to aid with the process. You’re not going to fly for a week or two.” Rainbow Dash sighs and says, “Somepony just kill me now.” She blinks and says, “Wait a minute! What about Derpy? Is she okay?” Sunburst smiles and points to the side, Rainbow following his hoof to see Derpy in the bed next to hers. She was covered in bandages and staring at Rainbow Dash with a big smile on her face. Rainbow giggles and says, “Hey you.” Derpy says, “Hi Rainbow Dash. The doctors say I’m going to be just fine, but until the scars on my wings fully heal I need to stay off them. Looks like we’re both going to be spending a lot of time on the ground… Maybe together, if you’d like?” Rainbow Dash nods and says, “I’m not turning down an offer like that, unless I want to bore myself to death.” Both girls giggle before she continues, “Maybe when we can walk out of here, we can get to know each other over a couple of mugs of apple cider?” Derpy nods and says, “I’d like that.” Everypony stares at the two, and one of the girls smirks and drags away the night stand separating their beds. A couple of the other mares see what she’s doing and smile, pushing the beds together right at the curtain. Derpy and Rainbow Dash blush, getting winks from the girls. They stare at each other for a moment, and then wrap their hooves around each other’s with their eyes half closed and smiles on their faces. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Derpy nuzzles into Rainbow Dash and says, “And after that, we did get to know each other over cider. We began to hang out more, and our relationship grew into love. We don’t act lovey dovey around town, so we don’t attract much attention. That’s why not a lot of ponies know we’re dating.” Everypony in the room except Rainbow Dash was staring at Derpy with their mouths hanging open. Sparkler says, “Wow, I wasn’t expecting something like that…” Carrot Top nods and says, “I was expecting something a bit more adorable, like you meeting over one of Derpy’s accidents.” Dinky smiles and says, “I thought it was pretty epic, and so romantic!” Rainbow Dash giggles and says, “Since everypony is satisfied, can the two of us get a couple minutes of privacy?” Everyone smiles and nods at each other, walking to the kitchen together. Rainbow Dash smirks and rolls Derpy on her back, pinning her to the couch. “Now there’s one more thing I owe you for Hearts and Hooves Day, my lovely Derpykins. Or would you rather I call you ‘Dizzy Danger’?” Derpy goes wide eyed and blushes at the position she’s in and Rainbow’s words. She giggles and says, “Only if you let me call you ‘Daring Do’, love.” Rainbow Dash laughs and says, “You’re such a big brat sometimes, I swear.” “Not as big as you love.” They lean in close to each other, and their lips lock. They kiss for what seems like minutes, stopping only to breathe. Derpy licks her lips and says, “You taste like chocolate.” Rainbow Dash laughs and says, “Happy Hearts and Hooves Day my love.” End Part 3 > Unstoppable Hugs > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dashie and Derpy in: Unstoppable Hugs Applejack was alone in her room, laying on her bed, sobbing into her pillow. It was the evening of Hearts and Hooves Day, and it hadn't gone the way she had hoped. She wanted to finally confess her feelings to the pony she loved with a bouquet of flowers, scared that her friend wouldn't return the sentiment, or even worse refuse to be friends with a filly-fooler. After everything she'd been through with her, she wanted to confess her feelings for Rainbow Dash. The problem, as it turns out, wasn't if Rainbow Dash could have feelings for another girl. That became very clear fast for Applejack, as she saw the mare she loved in the arms of another mare, and of all the ponies Ditzy Doo. When she found them not far outside town they were engaged in a dance, perfectly in sync as if they had practiced, flying through the sky as Derpy's family watched. When they finished, they embraced, and even kissed. Heartbroken, Applejack dropped the bouquet and rushed home. She hadn't left her room since. A knock came to her window, and she blinked for a moment wondering who it could be. "Applejack! Please, let me in! I need to talk to you!" Applejack recognized the voice and rushed to open the window to find Rainbow Dash floating their holding the bouquet she'd left behind. "Hi… can I come in?" Applejack blushed and nodded, backing away to make room for Rainbow Dash. She flew into the room hovered before her friend. "I noticed you saw me and Derpy dance earlier. You left something though." Applejack just hung her head quietly unable to look at her friend. "Applejack… I had no idea. I wish you'd of stayed and talked about it?" "Was there any point?" Applejack looked into her friend's eyes with tears in her own. "It's not like I can break up a relationship for one of my own, now is there. How long have you two even been going out?" Rainbow Dash sighed and counted in her head. "I think a few months, why?" Applejack shuffles her hooves and says, "I've loved you for quite a while. I wonder if I had confessed those feelings sooner, then we'd be the ones closer than bees and honey." "It's not a matter of confessed feelings. Look, it's a long story, but Derpy and I had an experience together that led to us even going out once, let alone being girlfriends." She set down the flowers and hugged Applejack, the earth pony doing her best to return the favor. "I'm flattered, really, and it's not like we aren't friends anymore. Just understand my feelings belong to another right now… but thanks for the flowers." Rainbow Dash picked the flowers back up and hovered towards the window. "I should go. Good night Applejack." Applejack opened her mouth to beg her to stay, but she found she couldn't say anything. She watched Rainbow go, speechless and helpless. She was ashamed of herself, and decided to wash down her pity with some homemade apple cider. When she walked down the stairs, she noticed Apple Bloom putting something in the fridge. "What are you up to at this hour? And what's that potion looking thing." The young filly looked to her older sister and replied, "This isn't a potion. It's a love poison! Me and the girls made it on accident, and caused some trouble for Big Macintosh and Ms. Cherilee. After the chores we did to make up for it, we know better than to use this ever again. Problem is, we don't know how to get rid of it safely." Applejack stared at the poison wide eyed and said, "Ya don't say. So how does it work?" "Well…" Apple Bloom rubbed her chin trying to remember. "Oh yeah, when somepony drinks it, they fall madly in love with the first pony they see! The problem is, they get way to gushy, and refuse to stop staring into their eyes. The only cure is to break eye contact for a full hour. That's why we don't want to risk any other pony drinking it, so I agreed to keep it hidden in our fridge till the end of time." Apple Bloom looked pretty proud of herself for making such a decision. Applejack smirked and said, "I think I can take care of this for you sugar cube. I'll get rid of it, and you won't have to worry about it ever again!" The little filly's eyes lit up. "Really? Gee thanks big sis! You're the best!" "I reckon I am! Now why don't you run off to bed?" Apple Bloom ran off and up to her room, while Applejack stared at the poison for a minute. "Love poison huh? It's not fair that I'm too late for you Dash. So if I have to make you love me, then so be it." She grabs the potion, and shuts the fridge. -------------------------------------- Applejack bit her lower lip as she walked through town, a mug of apple cider balanced on her head. She was nervous, unsure this would work, but she searched anyways until she found Rainbow Dash lying on a cloud. Of course she was being lazy, despite her job to clear the clouds today. "Being lazy as usual Rainbow Dash? And here I'd gone and made you some apple cider to cool ya down." "Apple cider?!" Rainbow Dash immediately broke from her nap and flew down licking her lips. "Well, maybe it will give me a boost of motivation." With a giggle, Applejack leaned forward offering the mug to her. "I just might. Why not give it a sip?" Rainbow Dash nearly drooled as she grabbed it, and began to lean it back. "Rainbow Dash!" The tomboy cringed and looked back into the sky to see Derpy sweating beads as she cleared away clouds. "You're supposed to be clearing the clouds with me today! Were you taking a nap or something? I feel like I'm doing all the work!" Derpy falls and slams into the ground next to them, panting as she lay on her back. With a gulp, Rainbow Dash looked between the mug and Derpy. "No love, I was just getting you something to drink! You've worked so hard and you look exhausted!" Applejack went wide eyed, and shivered a little as the mug was handed to the exhausted pegasus. Derpy smiled and took the mug. "You're the best Rainbow Dash!" She chugged the whole mug as Applejack cried, "No, don't drink that!" Rainbow Dash looked to her friend with a raised brow and said, "I know it was for me, but relax. Derpy needed it more. Feeling better Derpy?" The grey pony's eyes began to swirl, and she smiled as her ears folded back, hugging Dash extremely tightly. "AUGH! Love, you're hugging me too tight! Did you forget your own strength again?" "I just love you so much my multi-colored schmoopi-kins…" Rainbow Dash had a look of terrified confusion on her face, before she put two and two together and glared at Applejack. "What did you do? What was in that cider? Why did my girlfriend just say that?" Applejack fumbled over her own words, until she shrank under the cold stare of her friend. "I may have added a… love poison… to the cider?" She giggled nervously. She bowed her head before she could get scolded and said, "I'm sorry sugar cube! I just wanted to see what it would be like if you loved me instead, at least for a day! But it was wrong of me to try and trick you, so please forgive me!" With a sigh, the rainbow maned pony said, "Alright, I'll forgive you, on one condition. Cure my girlfriend!" Dash pushed Derpy off, only to be pounced to the floor with a disgruntled growl. "Well, my little sister said that the cure was to avoid eye contact for one hour." She helped push the two of them apart. "You just need to not look at her." Blinking, Rainbow Dash smiled and said, "That sounds easy enough." She turned around, but Derpy flew in her way and stared with bedroom eyes into her lover's. Rainbow Dash reared back and turned away, only to have Derpy hover along with her face, quickly bolting from side to side to keep her in view. "Uh, this might be harder than I thought… Look, it's Rainbow Dash!" Derpy gasped and looked to where Rainbow pointed, and Dash took advantage of this to fly away at high speed. Derpy whined and yelled, "Come back sugar cookie!" She flew after Rainbow Dash desperately, and when the pegasus looked back over her shoulder she saw Derpy actually gaining on her! "Ahhhhh! Do something Applejack!" "You're the fastest flyer in Equestria! Just keep away from her, I'm gonna go get some rope!" Applejack rushed home as Rainbow Dash flew circles around Ponyville, her lover at a constant rate behind her. When Applejack got back she could easily see them, and got on their path. "Ain't no way she can fly harder than I can pull, right?" She tied the rope around her waist, and when she saw them coming, she lassoed Derpy's hoof. "Gotcha!" Derpy screeched to a halt, flying desperately in place. Rainbow Dash paused and caught her breath. "What took you so long? I nearly flew the full hour! I'm exhausted!" She panted and looked to the clock tower in town. "Perfect! Just a few more minutes, that's awfully convenient. She noticed her hooves dragging across the floor and gulped. "Whoa nelly… No. NO! Nonononononoooo!" Derpy dragged her along as she picked back up speed. Rainbow Dash went pale and said, "You've got to be kidding! Where is all this stamina coming from? Stupid power of love!" She groaned and flew off again, Derpy in pursuit as she dragged Applejack through Ponyville now. The orange pony yelled as she was dragged, calling out for ponies to move as her hooves dragged through the dirt. "I can't seem to hold her! Huh? Uh oh." Applejack slammed face first into a sign, and almost immediately after another. And then one by one she hit multiple signs as she went down a straight line through them yelping with every smack to her face. "Why! Are! There! So! Many! Signs! Is there a sign show going on or something?!" She crashed into the last sign on the edge hard enough to take it with her and gave it a read. "Come see our artistic sign gallery, today only." She threw it to the side and pouted. Rainbow Dash couldn't keep up this pace. She sobbed a little and said, "Make it stop!" She growled and said, "Desperate times call for desperate measures! Let's see you follow me when I do this!" She flew with all her might, a cone forming around her as she flew faster and faster. She then darted upward as she went so fast, it created a sonic rainboom that spread through the air over Ponyville, safely high enough so that it didn't do any damage. With a glare her lover imitated her, going so fast she formed a cone too, and Applejack was lifted off the ground flailing her hooves. Derpy skyrocketed upward, a shockwave of yellow bursting from her over the city, which tore the ropes connecting her and Applejack. The earth pony screamed as she flew straight for the edge of Ponyville, where a group of passing sheep noticed her. They all piled together into a pyramid to save her, and Applejack crashed into them at high speed. They all fell to the ground with dizzy eyes, Applejack's tongue hanging from her mouth as she lay atop the pile. She muttered, "Thanks for the soft landing y'all." One sheep poked her head out of the groaning pile and said, "The secret is fabric softener!" Breathing a momentary sigh of relief, Rainbow Dash peeked behind her to see her pursuer gone. Her face went pale when she saw Derpy quickly gaining on her with a golden trail behind her. "You've got to be kidding me!" She put all her effort into moving forward, swerving and turning in hopes it would throw Derpy off. "Just a little longer!" she said gritting her teeth as tears streamed from her eyes. She gasped as she could already see Derpy's arms slowly making their way around her. "Noooo!" Derpy clung to her, making her cringe a little as she clenched her eyes shut. After a moment she peek one open to see Derpy nuzzling her as they flew. She opened her eyes with a familiar look to her gaze and said, "Look love, it's the fastest hug ever! But when did we get up here?" Rainbow Dash clung to her lover, completely disregarding the world as she hugged her tight. "Thank Celestia, your back love!" The wall eyed pony blinked in confusion, but smiled and hugged Rainbow back. "I don't know where I went. Hey look, I can see my house from here!" Rainbow Dash looked up to see they were spiraling right towards Derpy's house. "Uh oh…" A massive rainbow mushroom cloud lined in gold erupted from Ponyville, and Applejack rushed to the scene as fast as she could. The citizens began to panic; gathering on the scene of Derpy's destroyed home. Applejack ran into the rubble, bucking it aside as she cried, "Don't just stand there everypony! There are ponies under this rubble!" Everypony gasped and began helping her dig frantically. -------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash, Derpy, Dinky, Sparkler, and even Carrot Top were all bandaged up in the hospital lobby, gathered and glaring at Applejack, especially Rainbow Dash and Derpy who obviously had broken wings. Applejack held her hat in front of herself, hanging her head in shame. "I am so sorry y'all! I'm ashamed of how I behaved, and how it lead to your injuries and destroyed home! I promise that I'll do anything and everything I can until your home is repaired!" They all looked at each other and smiled, Derpy rolling her wheelchair forward to hug Applejack. "I understand that you have strong feelings for Rainbow Dash. Love makes us do crazy things! At least you're sorry and willing to make up for it, and that's why I forgive you." Dinky walked next to her mom and said with sad eyes, "But where are we going to stay until our home is rebuilt?" Her mother giggled and said, "At Sweet Apple Acres of course!" Everypony cried 'WHAT?!' in unison. "Well yeah! We don't have a home, the inn has no vacancies, none of us are capable of flying to Rainbow Dash's house, and Applejack DID say she would do anything and everything for us. Right Applejack?" Applejack smiled and nodded. "It would be an honor to have the muffin family as guests in our home. But are you sure about this?" "Yeah love, are you sure?" Rainbow Dash rolled her own wheel chair up next to Derpy's. "Applejack is in love with me. Doesn't that worry you?" "Not at all!" Derpy responded with a grin. "I'm sure she'll respect our relationship from now on! And even if she doesn't," she gave a smug look to Applejack. "She doesn't stand a chance." Applejack's jaw dropped and she put her hat back on with a huff. "Oh, it's on now sugar cube!" She got behind Derpy and began to push her wheel chair. "You and me are gonna play horse shoes! Winner gets to sleep in the same bed as Rainbow Dash tonight!" "Bring it on!" Everypony else just stood there blank faced watching them go, Derpy's family looking to Rainbow Dash. The cyan pony just sat there confused, until she suddenly gasped and rolled after them. "You two can't play games for my love! Get back here!" Carrot Top slapped a hoof to her face and said, "Things are going to be interesting until we go home…" End Part 4
