Chapter 1: The arrival



The Stars filled the sky tonight, the moon was full and not a single cloud was in the sky.

"Princess Luna really outdid herself tonight," the aquamarine unicorn thought to herself.

She was sitting on a rock near a pool of water so clear it looked like there was two moons, The unicorn looked up at the night sky and started playing her instrument as the last few notes vanished into the night, the unicorn looked up at the sky once more and sighed deeply.

"No one ever believes me those creatures do exist."

With one last glance at the moon she got up and started to walk back home.

BOOM!

The sound pierced through the silence of the night making the unicorn jumped several feet into the air, she recovered quickly and started to looked around trying to find were the noise came from until a shadow in the moons face caught her eye, she stared at it mesmerized until it dawned on her that the shadow was closing in on her. Fast! She quickly ran behind the rock she was just sitting on for cover and peered over the top to watch the shadow approach, the shadow had a strange shape and didn't look it was flying more like it was falling.

"It IS falling," as soon as the mare realized it was falling she started to panic.

"WhatdoIdowhatdoIdowhatdoIdo," the mare couldn't think straight then it struck her maybe she could slow it down she focused on the shadow and tried to slow it down with her magic, she reached out and started to push with her magic for it only to be shattered as soon as the shadow came into contact with it.

"It's moving too fast," she gasped, looking around to see if there was anything else she could do to slow it down then her eyes fell onto the pool.

"Hmm maybe I could push it into that," she mumbled she summoned as much magic as she could and forced it onto the shadow forcing it to move into the path of the pool.

SPLASH!

The shadow fell into the pool causing a massive wave to erupt from the point of impact spraying the mare with water, shaking the water out of her mane she looked at the pool of water to see the shadow floating on top, quickly she dashed into the pool and dragged the shadow onto the shore and looked down at the shadow.

"Sweet Celestia I knew I was right the creatures do exist," the mare exclaimed as she was looking down at a human!

The boy coughed up some water and slowly opened his eyes and saw two orange moons in the sky.

"That isn't right," the boy thought to himself, shaking his head he looked again and noticed that they were a pair of eyes blinking a few times the boy asked

"What happened?"

The eyes looked confused so he asked again, but this time he heard what he said this time what meant to come out as what happened came out as.

"Whurfhgthapende," the boy cleared his throat and asked again.

"What happened?"

"There was a loud boom and you fell from the sky," the eyes replied.

"I fell from the SKY? How did I survive?!"

"Oh that was me I pushed you into the water with my magic."

"Really? Thanks I guess I should intro... wait did you say magic?"

"Yes don't you have magic were you came from human?

"No and human? Aren't you human as well?

"No I'm a pony my name is Lyra Heartstrings."

The boy looked away from the orange eyes and looked at the pony, her coat was an aqua color and her mane was a light blue with white highlights and on her flank was a lyre, but what drew the boys attention was the horn on her head.

"You said you were a pony right?"

"Yes and you're a human right?"

"Yes I am but how do you..But were am... who...wha," the boy passed out.

"O... oh dear are you all right?" Lyra asked looking at the young human.

All these years other ponies mocked her for believing humans are real and constantly made fun of her because of this and yet here one is lying right in front of her...A human...is...right...here

"A HUMAN!" She shouted as it suddenly dawned on her after so many years of searching one literally drops into her hoof, excitedly she starts to examine the human prodding his stomach and head to see if he was really there after several pokes and jabs she noticed his arms and at the end of his arms.

"HANDS! YES HE HAS HANDS!" She was so excited she almost fainted as well.

"Okay Lyra calm down lets figure out what's going on," she looks at the human again taking a good look at him, he has a brown mane that only covers top of his head she lifts up an eyelid and notices his eyes are brown, and his torn shirt was soaked through, fearing he will catch a cold she goes to remove his shirt, but is unable to get it off him so instead she rips it off with her magic.

"Well, it was torn anyway," she justifies to herself she then notices his trousers are wet too.

"No I'm not THAT curious... or am I?... No... no I'm not." 

Lyra looks around and notices that there are some twigs and leafs nearby and realized she should have made a fire before ripping his shirt.

"Oh well ill apologize to him when he wakes up," she decided whilst she collected the things for the fire.

Twilight Sparkle was doing some late night studying about how nocturnal creatures behave when she heard a massive splash come from the nearby pond everypony liked to swim in, normally the purple unicorn would have thought it was somepony having a late night swim but she saw the splash from here, sensing that something was wrong she started to run towards the pond.

When Twilight arrived at the pond she saw Lyra collecting sticks and some leafs, rushing over to see if she saw the splash Twilight saw Lyra glance back at the edge of the pond following her gaze she saw a shadow of what seemed like a weird shaped log until it started to move, Lyra ran back to the shadows side dropping the sticks and leafs she was carrying, Twilight decided to hide and see if she could figure out what was going on hiding behind a boulder she watched Lyra and the shadow with eyes that only a person who has had years of observation training could do, she noticed every little detail like how Lyra seemed to just sit there and watch the shadow occasionally looking around or shifting herself into a more comfortable position, were as the shadow just lay there try as she might Twilight just couldn't make out what sort of creature the shadow was she decided to go in for a closer look...

Lyra had sat with the human for about an hour now watching over him making sure he didn't come any harm she was going to start a fire but as she was collecting the twigs and leafs she saw him stir and ran back to see if he was awake.
"Lyra what's going on here?" A voice coming from behind her causing her to jump looking behind her she sees its Twilight.
"Oh thank goodness it's Twilight she should be able to help"

"Twilight thank goodness your here this human fell out of the sky and passed out here and he hasn't woke up for about an hour," Lyra explained.

"Lyra humans don't exist I'm sure it's just some creature from the Ever... Ever... What is that thing? I've never come across something like this in my studies!" noticing the creature on the ground.

"Well, maybe if you listened to me before then you could have found out more about them I mean they appear often in the Everfree forest!"

"Lyra now is not the time for this we need to figure out what to do with this thing."

"This THING is a human and we have to take him somewhere he can rest comfortably!"

"Fine well take the human to my house its closest, but we'll have to make sure no pony sees us with it."

"Him."

"Him?"

"Yes Him at least I think its male from the sound of his voice when we spoke."

"You spoke to him?"

"Yes I'll tell you on the way to yours it's almost sun rise."

The pair of unicorns levitated the human and started to walk back to Twilight's house, on the way Lyra explained what she had believed humans did and what their world was like and the conversation she had with the human she was now carrying.

Being careful not to show the human to anypony that may be awake for various reasons, Lyra and Twilight quickly took the unconscious human into the tree library being careful not to wake spike and laid him on the sofa in the main room, Twilight then proceeded to examine the human.

"Lyra you said he fell from the sky right?"

"Yes and he fell into the pond why?"

"Well, I just checked him over and he doesn't seem to be injured there's no broken bones or cuts not even a bruise!"
"What?! I didn't know humans could heal that fast when I got him out of the lake his chest was covered in bruises how did I not notice on the way back?"

"You was probably to busy keeping an eye out for anypony that would notice him, anyway maybe we should try to make sure he doesn't wake up for a while."
"Why?"

"I need to know if he's a danger to other ponies and I'd rather find out whilst he's unconscious."
"Alright Twilight but don't hurt him okay?"

"I won't I learnt a spell that will let me look at the mind of other creatures I touch with my horn I was hoping I'd never need to use this spell though," Twilight turned and looked at Lyra and smiled sadly, she then preceded to walk over to the human and knelt next to the him and focused her magic on her horn and lowered it to his forehead and started to prepare herself for what she might see.

Twilight's horn touched the humans head and the spell started to do its work she saw what he was dreaming about from now to when he fell unconscious it was weird seeing thoughts that wasn't her own, but what was weirder was the fact that the boy only dreamt of flying in the sky with mismatched color wings one black one white, Pushing the image away Twilight saw the conversation he had with Lyra the conversation was quite comical, she to push further into his memories and saw what sort of life he had.

The human's memories of his life rushed through Twilight's mind she saw that he always tried his best at whatever he did whether playing games or schoolwork she tried searching his memories for how he ended up in Equestria but she couldn't find anything about that, Twilight searched his mind for a few more minutes seeing that he wasn't a threat to anypony she started to stop her spell, as she pulled away her horn from the human she found herself staring into a pair of brown colored eyes.

The human was awake!

Staring into a pair of deep purple eyes the human started to come to and sat up on the sofa, after a few minutes of sitting there he finally spoke.

"So, I'm in Equestria then."

Twilight and Lyra just stood there in silence and glanced at each other.

"How do you know this is Equestria when you just arrived here a few hours ago?" Twilight asked.

"That spell you cast worked both ways as you looked in my mind I was saw images of yours and got the gist of where I am."
"Wait you saw my past?" Twilight said blushing.

"Well, only the last few days, you work really hard at your studies maybe you should take a day off?"

Twilight stood there stunned not only did the human who knew nothing about magic was able to use her own spell against her without her noticing but he was also concerned about her well-being, pushing this thought to the back of her mind so she could ponder more about it later.

"Yes well ill think about it... By the way you seem awfully calm about being here."

"Well, I'm here now why should I freak out over something I can't change?"

"Well, that's one way to look at it I suppose."

The room fell silent as the mares thought about how to handle the situation then suddenly Lyra realized that they didn't even know the humans name.

"By the way what is your name?" Lyra asked

"Oh how rude of me, my name is Nigel if I remember correctly from our last conversation your name was Lyra correct?"
"Yes I'm glad you remembered you seemed a bit errrr..."

"Crazy? Yeah.. not my finest moment was it," he said laughing.

As the moon was setting and the sun rising the unicorns asked questions about what his world was like they kept questioning till the sun was fully risen.

"Twilight have you been up all night studying again?" A fourth voice came from upstairs, Twilight instantly perked up and rushed over to the human and pushing him off the sofa causing him to flip off it and onto the floor.

"What was that sound?" the baby purple dragon asked standing at the top of the stairs.

"Nothing Spike I just knocked over some books, go back to bed"

"Nah I'm awake now might as well make some breakfast. Oh hi Lyra I didn't see you there your here early do you need help with anything?

"No thanks Spike I just came and asked Twilight for some help"

"Okay do you want some breakfast?

Before she could answer Nigel let out a groan.

"What was that noise?" Spike asked.

"Ouch! Twilight why did you do that?" Nigel said standing up "Oh look a dragon... your Twilight's assistant Spike right?

"Uh Twilight what is that thing and how does it know who I am?"

"To answer the questions in order; the reason I did that was because I didn't want Spike to find you because he can be skittish at times, and this spike is a Nigel a human he knows who you are because he looked into my mind when I looked into his."

"Wow a human guess you wasn't crazy after all Lyra."

"Gee thanks Spike" Lyra replied with some annoyance.

"No problem," Spike replied not picking up the tone "anyway I'm still hungry I'm going to cook breakfast anypony want anything?"

"Sure," the three of them replied.

"Mind if I come with you I'd love to see how you prepare food in this world."

"Sure I could do with an extra pair of hoofs I mean hands," leading Nigel into the kitchen leaving Lyra and Twilight alone.

"We may have a problem on our hoofs here Lyra," Twilight said once Nigel was in the other room

"Why Nigel seems friendly and wouldn't do anypony any harm."

"I know, but if other ponies see him it may cause a panic."

"I see, but he can't stay here ponies come here for books often somepony is bound to see him"

"I know ill contact the princess and ask what we should do, but there may be a way to hide him so he can walk around town without anypony noticing he's a human."

"Really how?"

"There's a spell that can change the appearance of whatever its cast on into a pony all I need is a strand of your hair for it to work" Twilight explained.

"Okay, but why my hair why not yours?"

"Simple because you're the first creature he met when he woke up and second having a hair pulled out hurts and I don't like pain and thirdly..." Before saying another word Twilight pulled out a strand of Lyra's mane, "I already have a piece of your hair."

"Ouch you're mean when you don't sleep Twilight," Lyra said, her eyes watering from the pain.

Focusing the magic on her horn again, Twilight cast the enchantment on the hair causing it to glow with a golden light, once she cast the spell she called for Nigel and Spike to come back into the room the pair came back in laughing loudly Nigel was holding his sides from laughter.

"So... the poison joke did... that to them?" Nigel asked through fits of laughter.

"Yeah I'll tell you the rest of the story later" Spike answer with a grin on his face.

"What are you to laughing about?" Twilight asked.

"Nothing much Twilight... Flopple" Nigel replied causing him and spike to fall into another fit of laughter
"Ah I see he told you that story," Twilight said with a look of annoyance on her face, Nigel caught a glimpse of the face through his tears from laughing so hard and instantly got his composure back sitting there in silence and nudged Spike to get him to stop.

"Are you two done?" She asked with authority in her voice.

"Ma'am yes ma'am" The two replied standing up straight.

"Good Spike go and finish breakfast I need to speak with Nigel."

"Yes ma'am," Spike saluted and ran off into the kitchen.

"Now Nigel, Lyra and I have come up with a plan to change your appearance so you can walk about town without causing a panic we are going to put an enchantment on you so you'll turn into a pony."

"Okay it's not permanent is it?

"No it will only be active for as long as you have this strand of Lyra's hair in your hair." Twilight explained levitating the strand up to his head and tied it around his hair, instantly Nigel started to glow white and floated a few feet in the air and started to take a more pony-like shape suddenly a bright white light filled the room causing Lyra and Twilight to shield their eyes, after the light subsided the mares looked at were Nigel was standing before now a Brown coloured pony stood there rubbing his eyes.

"Okay I don't want to do that again that felt really weird," Nigel lowered his arms and heard a gasp come from Twilight and Lyra, "what's wrong?" he asked in a panic looking around for a mirror.

"Oh its nothing... it's just... Well, you tell him Twilight," Lyra kept looking around the room trying to avoid eye contact with Nigel blushing furiously.

"Well, its... umm well you make a VERY handsome stallion is all" Twilight said blushing as well.

"Breakfast is ready," Spike said walking in from the kitchen "whoa where did Nigel go and who is this guy?"

"Spike it's me Nigel, Twilight made me into a pony so I can fit in better," Turning around to face Spike causing his jaw to drop.
"Whoa you make one heck of a stallion Nigel."

"Thanks Spike do you need a hand, well I suppose it would be hoof now, with breakfast?"

"No thanks it's all set up and ready on the table in the kitchen" Spike said walking back into the kitchen.

"Well, let's get something to eat shall we, after you ladies," Nigel said bowing the mares through the doors.

After much difficulty of trying to pick up his fork with his hoofs he gave up and just dived in face first into his meal after eating it all he raised his head to find his three companions staring at him smiling sheepishly he said.

"Sorry I was starving"

"It's alright," Twilight said smiling, "I have a feeling you will get along with a certain pink pony I know of."

"You have a have a hayfry in your mane," Lyra pointed out, still blushing slightly.

Blushing slightly Nigel ran a hoof through his mane and the hayfry dropped out onto the plate.

"You gonna eat that? Spike asked and before Nigel could answer Spike pick up the hayfry and burnt it with his fire then ate it, "whew I am stuffed" letting out a large belch.

"Spike! Show some manners we have guests" Twilight scolded.

"It's alright Twilight in some place where I am from that's a compliment it means the food was good and that you are full." Nigel explained.

"Yes well after a compliment such as lovely as that he wouldn't mind doing the washing up."

"Awwwww come on Twilight I was only messing around."

"If you do the washing up I'll let you go and visit Rarity to see if she needs any help at the boutique."

"Deal, don't worry my sweet Rarity, noble Spike will come and save you from the tyrant known as work!"

Twilight turned to Lyra and Nigel, "Sorry Spike gets like this when Rarity's involved."

"Its ok everypony in ponyville knows how he feels about Rarity." Lyra whispered to Twilight.

"Boutique? As in clothes? Pony's wear clothes?"

"Yes is there something wrong?" Lyra asked

"No I wanna see what sort of clothes you all like to wear!"

"Well, we wear the same sort of clothes you do."

"So, trousers?"

"Yes."

"Shirts, hats?"

"Yes and yes."

"Socks?"

"So... socks!? Lyra stammered Blushing a bright shade of red, "well y...Yes we do but there more of a.. Umm seductive piece of clothing over here." blushing even more now.

"Oh... um better not ask about them then," Nigel blushing even more than Lyra an awaked silence filled the room except for Spike still in his fantasy world talking to his "Lady Rarity" until Twilight broke the silence.

"Well, I suppose you can go provided you promise not to draw any attention to yourself and you come straight back here after you have finished their..."

"Wohoo"

"AFTER you help Spike with the washing up."

"Awwwwww."

Lyra and Nigel were walking over to Rarity's boutique, Spike had rushed on ahead under the pretence that he will tell her that they were going to visit and Twilight decided to try to get some sleep. On the way Lyra asked Nigel questions about the human world.

"Yes they areeee um Lyra is it just me or is everyone staring at us?" Nigel asked looking around.

Lyra started to nudge a stone on the ground "Well, other than Bon-Bon my roommate, Twilight and her friends nopony really talks to me because they all think I'm crazy believing in humans," Tears started to fill her eyes.

"Hey, don't cry I believe you and you were right all along." Nigel said trying to cheer her up.

"Well, of course you would believe humans exist it would be weird if you didn't all things considering, but thanks I feel a better now, come on were almost there." She smiled at Nigel and started walking again.

As the door opened to the door the boutique a bell rang signalling that there was a customer.

"Hello Rarity, Spike are you here?" Lyra asked loudly.

"Yes darling I will be with you in a minute I'm just making some changes to my little sister's dress, Spike darling be a dear and go see who is there." A voice with a posh accent answered.

"Yes Rarity" Spike replied his voice full of admiration, "Oh hey guys you took your time getting here I was beginning to think you weren't coming."

"Spike who is it?" Rarity called.

"Its Lyra and Nigel"

"Oh yes you did mention Lyra and her new friend was coming to visit."

Walking into the room Rarity had a small dress levitated in front of her; she walked over to the counter and laid it down carefully.

"There now that's all set for Sweetie Belle's birthday present sorted," she turned to face Lyra and Nigel "Oh my, well Lyra you certainly know how to pick them he's one fine-looking stallion."

"What!" Lyra and Nigel said in unison both their faces going bright red.

"No were just friends, really!" Lyra said.

"Well, then I suppose you wouldn't mind if I courted him then he is one fine stallion," walking towards Nigel.

"Wh... what? Nigel stuttered walking backwards until he hit a wall, now his and Rarity faces were only inches away before she cracked a smile.

"Oh relax darling I was only having a bit of fun," she turned and walked back to the counter

"Oh thank goodness" Nigel heard Spike mutter under his breath.

"Besides, I already have a stallion that I have my eye on." Rarity said.

"WHAT!" Spike yelled causing everypony to look at him, "err I mean what's his name?"

"A lady doesn't reveal her secrets so easily you know that Spike."

Just then the door to the shop rang again and a stallion with a white coat and purple mane wearing a hat a shirt walked into the shop.

"Good morning everypony how is your morning faring?" Asked the unicorn stallion.

"Oh Bright I didn't know you were coming in today I would have tidied up more, oh I look such a mess," Rarity fretted.
"Rarity its fine don't worry and you look as beautiful as always besides I'm here to see if my jacket was ready yet."
"Not yet darling it will be finished this afternoon."

"Alright ill come back then if that's alright?"

"Oh going so soon?" Rarity said looking a bit upset by his quick visit.

"Yes I'm afraid to say your sisters group has somehow got me to help them with their mission to get there cutie marks honestly I'm a sucker for the puppy dog eyes trick," Bright gave a smile to the group, "Well, I suppose I'll see you all later," turning and walking to the door just before he opened it he stopped.

"Oh before I forget I got a message from Broadsword asking if you could make him some more sword holsters and packs for him he'll be back in three days with Trixie."

"Sure tell him ill have them ready by the time he is here, but I don't know why anypony would travel around with her she not exactly miss personality is she."

"Well, he does love her." As soon as he said that Bright went stiff and he seemed to go even whiter than he was before "Oh no Oh no Oh no quick hide me Rarity," he panicked and darted behind the counter his hoofs over his head trembling.
"Bright whatever are you doing dar..."

"BRIGHT IDEAS YOU BROKE A PINKIE PROMISE!!!!" A voice full of rage came from outside causing everypony in the shop to jump with fright the only one who didn't look at the door was Bright Ideas who was still hiding behind the counter.
The door burst open and a bright pink mare stood in the doorway so angry you could literally see fire In her eyes.

"WHERE ARE YOU BRIGHT I KNOW YOUR IN HERE!" The pink mare scanned the room and noticed Nigel gave a massive gasp and ran off as fast as she appeared.

"Who the heck was that" Nigel asked to the room.

"That was Pinkie pie a VERY energetic mare who is probably the only pony you don't ever want to make angry something darling Bright here seems to of done" Rarity explained.

"Is she gone? Bright asked his hat and eyes peering over the counter.

"Yes darling she's gone mind telling us what that was about?"

"Well, I made a pinkie promise with Broadsword not to tell anyone how he feels about Trixie until he told her how he feels and well as you can guess I kind of just broke that promise." Bright explained.

"Well, you know you should go and try to talk about it to pinkie you don't want her to be mad at you remember what happened to the last pony who didn't apologize to her when they broke a pinkie promise."

Bright gave shudder "I know I think there still cleaning up from that party."

"I think they just finished cleaning their house took an entire month to clean after her what was it "a super dooper party extravaganza sorry for breaking a pinkie promise a lying about it party," it was a good party though." Rarity chuckled.

"Yeah tell that to Diamond Tiara and Filthy Rich who had to clean it all up, anyway who is this stallion who saved me from the pink wrath?"

"Me? I didn't really do anything, but my names Nigel."

"Hmmm Nigel huh, there's something about you that seems... off," Nigel looked over to Lyra who looked anxious about something, Bright Ideas walked around Nigel like a shark circling his prey, finally his eyes fell onto the single strand of blue hair in his all brown mane.

"Lyra I would like a word if you please?" He turned to Rarity, "Rarity would you be a dear and let us borrow your design room so we can talk in private?" Bright said.

"I can do better than that, Spike will you please put the close sign up on the shop? I know you well enough that your sudden change of personality means something is up."

Spike ran over to the door and changed the sign to closed.

Bright looked Rarity in the eyes "Are you sure you want to hear this if what I think is true you may want to be ignorant of the situation."

"Its fine I am the element of generosity remember if the situation is dire I would prefer to be well-informed before it's out of control"

"Very well, Lyra what creature is this he isn't a pony."

Lyra and Nigel looked at each other and then Spike spoke up.

"You might as well tell him else it would only get worse besides if Rarity trusts him so do I."

"Spike you know who he is?" Bright asked.

"Yeah so does Twilight she put the spell on him to look like a pony and did some spell to see if he was good or bad."

"Well, being that Twilight examined you it seems you're a good guy and being that Lyra's with you must be a human correct?"

Lyra's mouth just dropped "How did you figure that out from just a few minutes?"

"Elementary my dear I deducted that his stance isn't a stance that is normal for a stallion his age, and his single blue strand of hair in an all brown mane meant it was placed there and the most important clue that I received was that Twilight told me before I came here when I went to return a book this morning," Bright just fell back laughing, "The look on your faces was priceless."

"A human? Lyra you're not crazy after all isn't that wonderful darling!"

"Gee thanks Rarity." Lyra said sarcastically.

They spent the next ten minutes talking about what to do next and agreeing that no one else needs to know about this.
Suddenly a scream came from outside the shop everypony in the shop sat up and was looking out the window to see what was going on, but all they could see was smoke, instinctively they all ran out of the shop to see how they could help.

"Where is this smoke coming from?" Lyra asked.

"Over there!" Spike said pointing down the street were ponies were gathering with buckets "I'll go get buckets," he added.

The other four ran towards the smoke ready to help anyway they could when they got there they could see the fire was in full flare.

"Quick form a line from the well to here space evenly pass the buckets to each other." Bright ordered the ponies who quickly moved into place "Rarity go find Rainbow dash and get her to..."

"No need I'm right here," the Blue Pegasus called from the sky

"Good go find some rain clouds we could use to help put out this fire!"

"On it," she quickly dashed off to find the clouds they needed"

"HELP!!!" A voice came from the burning building, without hesitation Nigel quickly grabbed a bucket of water and doused himself with it and started to run into the building.

"NIGEL WAIT!" Bright shouted but he was already gone inside.

Inside the building the fire was intense and the smoke was thick.

"WERE ARE YOU! Nigel shouted and started coughing breathing in some smoke.

"HELP I'M UPSTAIRS," the voice replied.

"ALRIGHT I'M COMING STAY WHERE YOU ARE!"

Looking around for the stairs he noticed that the support beams of the house were starting to weaken noticing the stairs he ran directly to them and walked up them he didn't want them to give way underhoof and cause him to be trapped as well reaching the top of the stairs he looked around and noticed three rooms he shouted again.

"I'M UPSTAIRS WHAT ROOM ARE YOU IN!?

"IN HERE!"

The voice came from the room above the front door

"Of course, it had to be the furthest away damn you life you don't like making it easy do you?"

"ALRIGHT I'M COMING!"

Rushing towards the room he the voice was coming from he heard the stairs collapse.

"Great we're not getting out that way"

Barging into the door forcing it open caused the top of the door frame to fall singe his mane 

"That was a close one", he muttered to himself, "I'M HERE WERE ARE YOU?!"

"UNDER THE BED PLEASE HELP ME!"

Kneeling down and looking under the bed he spotted the orange filly curled up into a ball

"Come on we need to get out of here"

"I can't move I'm too scared"

"Look we need to get out of here now if we don't we die, I need you to trust me I will get us out of here alive okay?"

He held out a hoof to the orange filly, the filly nodded and grabbed his hoof with her own he pulled her out from under the bed and held her under his hoof.

"Do you trust me?" he asked her.

"I...I do" She replied

"Okay then hold on tight and don't let go."

She held onto his leg whilst he charged at the window jumped and turned in the air shielding the filly with his body, the window smashed as he came into contact with it and he heard the crowd gasp and screamed as they saw the brown pony jump from the window he yelled.

"SOMEPONY CATCH HER!" With that he threw the filly into the crowd instantly a Rainbow dash streaked past and caught the filly in mid-air.

"I got you Scootaloo don't worry" she said

Smiling to himself Nigel fell into unconsciousness just before he hit the ground Lyra mustered her magic and tried to catch Nigel before he hit the ground, but was too late all she did was cushion the impact he would survive but it would hurt for weeks.

The clouds Rainbow dash had gathered were putting out the fire and the crowd of ponies gathered around Nigel, his hair was still singeing.

Lyra shouted "SOMEPONY GO GET NURSE REDHEART!"

What Lyra didn't notice was that the blue strand of hair was about to fall off due to the singeing when she noticed it was too late it was already separated from the now glowing brown stallion.

The crowd let out a gasp as the pony that had just saved the young filly was now changing shape before their own eyes back into his human form!

Chapter 2:  Making memories


“Get him to...”

“Will he be...”

“Some first...”

“... Party I was gonna...”

Nigel kept slipping in and out of consciousness until finally he wakes up with a pair of blue eyes in his face.

“Is it normal to wake up with eyes in your face all the time in this world?”

“No, but it happens more often than you think” Twilights voice came from the side.

He looked over and saw Twilight, Rarity and some other ponies he didn’t recognize.

“Hey there sugercube, how ya feelin?” The orange pony asked

“Fine thanks, uhhhh...”

“Oh how rude of me some introductions are in order I think, this is Applejack, the mare who is flying above you is Rainbow Dash, the yellow one behind me here is Fluttershy, and I believe you remember the mare standing above you Pinkie Pie?”

Nigel looked at the pink mare that suddenly started to shake uncontrollably shaking the whole bed.

“Oh no not again, TAKE COVER!” Rainbow Dash shouted.

Suddenly there was a loud bang and a pinkie flash flying all over the room that was talking impossibly fast.

“OHMYGOSHHESOKANDWASAHUMANALLALONGANDKNOWIGETTOBEFRIENDSWITHAHUMANIWONDERWHATHUMANSLIKETOPLAY!” Suddenly the pinksplosion stopped still instantly and fell to the floor and her hair deflated.

“Oh no when we first met I was really rude and now I just went full crazy I bet he doesn’t like me at all” Pinkie sat there on the floor with tears in her eyes.

“Now you stop thinking about such things darling it’s unbecoming of a lady.” Rarity reassured her

“Um girls...”

“Yeah and besides Pinkie he seems an alright guy I mean I ran into a burning house to save somepony in a world he hasn’t even been in for a day!” Rainbow dash agreed.

“I think we have a problem.”

“An’ don’t forget sugercube you got cranky to be your friend anything’s possible.”

“um, should his be leg twitching like that?”

Just then the pink mane inflated and the smile returned to her face, “your right girls I won’t know until I try, so Mr. Nigel would you like to be... umm were did he go?”

The five girls turned to look at the bed and just saw Fluttershy standing on it looking over the edge. “um, I think he’s unconscious again.”

Ten minutes past before Nigel woke up with more bandages on his head, looking around the room he noticed all six of the mares were still there although Pinkie looked a bit sad

“Wha... What happened? Nigel asked.

The mares looked over to him and sighed with relief, Twilight stepped forward and explained.

“There was a err accident and you fell out of bed and landed on your head you’ve been unconscious for about ten minutes.”

“I seem to spend a lot of time sleeping nowadays I guess travelling between worlds really nocks it out of you.” Smiling to the group

They all returned the smile except for Pinkie who wandered over and sat next to the bed putting her head on it.

“I’m so so so so so so so soooooooo sorry I hurt you can you ever forgive me?” she said  with a tear in her eye.

“hnnnnnnng sooo adorable must... resist... eyes,” then a sly thought crossed Nigel’s mind. “Let’s have some fun revenge here”

“Its alright Pinkie Dash I know you didn’t mean it, and I’m sure Rarelight and Appleshy will agree with me, right?”

“Oh no oh no oh no I scrambled his brains Twilight do something!”

Nigel sat there watching Pinkie until he couldn’t hold back his smile any longer and burst out laughing

“I’m sorry Pinkie I couldn’t resist I’m fine, really.”

“WHAT! That wasn’t very nice Mr. Meanie-pants I thought you were seriously hurt!”

“I’m sorry Pinkie you think you can ever forgive me?”

“Ummmm, sure, but on one condition.”

“What’s that?”

“You forgive me for knocking you out earlier”

“Alright, deal. Friend” he said winking at the pink mare.

Pinkie smiled from ear to ear and hugged him tight. “Oh thank you, thank you, thank you you’ll be my bested human friend ever!!”

“Pinkie... can’t... breath” Nigel gasped

“Oh sorry” She said still smiling.

“By the way, where is Lyra?” Nigel asked thinking back he didn’t remember seeing her since he has been awake.

“I don’t know she said something about the train station, but other than that she just left,” Twilight replied.

“Awwwww I thought she would of said goodbye before she left.”

“Don’t worry about it dear she has been waiting forever to meet a human I’m sure she won’t be gone long!” Rarity said, “By the way how much do you know of this world, as far as I can tell you’ve been here a day and been asleep for at least half of it.”

“You know I think your right all I know is that there are three types of ponies, The ones with horns, the ones with wings and the ones with neither who I’m guessing are the strongest?”

“Correct, though they do have name the ones with horns are called unicorns, the ones with wings are called Pegasus and the ones with nether are called earth ponies...” Twilight went into lecture mode and started to tell Nigel about their world.

The next few hours was spent listening to Twilight explaining about Equestria and the others pitched in describing the jobs they do,

“Hello my little ponies, how is our visitor doing?” A regal voice came from the doorway, causing everypony to look at the door and bow with respect.

“Princess Celestia what are you doing here?” Twilight asked.

“Well, my faithful student after I received your letter about a human being in Equestria I went and did some research about them.”

“Somepony did research on humans?”

“Yes I believe it was Star Swirl’s pupil Clover who first discovered the creatures that appeared in the Everfree forest he noticed that it seemed to happen naturally, as you all know magic flows through our world like a current, but in the Everfree forest magic tends to build up enough for a portal to temporarily open causing a human to appear and leave within a few minutes, now I’m sure you have all wondered at some point that our little human here has some miraculous recovery ability?”

“I did wonder about that, how is it possible?”

“Well, Clover thought the same thing and found out that humans have the passive ability to absorb magic, the stored magic is then used to increase their stamina, health and everything about them.”

“That explains why he had no injuries from when he fell into the pond!” Twilight realized.

“Yes my faithful student and...” Celestia turned to Nigel, “would you mind if I used you in a demonstration?”

“Sure what kind of demonstration and will it hurt? He asked nervously.

“I promise it won’t hurt all I’m going to do it use some magic on you to show my little ponies how magic absorption works.”

“Alright then fire away.”

Celestia horn glowed gold and a beam of light shone from the tip covering all of Nigel in the light, Nigel lay there with his eyes closed feeling the warmth of light flow through him he could feel the magic pulsing though his body.

“Wait something isn’t... Gah... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!” Nigel screamed, raising several feet into the air.

“Wha... What’s happening? Princess do something!” Twilight shouted, but Celestia just stood there staring at Nigel who was wreathing in agony, suddenly Nigel stopped screaming and just floated there, all the rooms occupants just stood there in silence staring at him, with the exception of Fluttershy who was hiding behind Celestia.

“RRRRAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!” Nigel screamed at the top of his lungs.

“Please make it stop.” Fluttershy whimpered almost in tears, Suddenly bursting from Nigel’s back appeared two wings not only did the wings appear, but they were mismatched one was white as snow whereas the other was as black as night.

“Impossible,” Princess Celestia mumbled to herself, “Twilight my faithful student I must return to Canterlot at once, I leave Nigel under your protection.”

“Princess what do you mean? What’s going on?” Twilight asked starting to panic.

“I don’t know but I intend to find out.” With that she turned and quickly left the room.

Twilight turned and looked back at Nigel who was now lying on bed panting, his new wings spread out beneath him.

“Okay... That... Hurt... A lot...” He said gasping for breath between each word.

“Oh my, are you alright?” Fluttershy asked rushing to his side with bandages at the ready.

“I’m... fine... thanks...just...need...to...catch...my...breath.” Everypony just sat there in silence.

“Okay I’ve caught my breath, Fluttershy mind scratching my back for me? It itches like crazy!”

“Oh... ummmm... okay.”

“Ooooooohhhh yeah right there! Your feathers are good at this.”

“Ummmm, but I haven’t even touched you yet.”

“What? Then who’s scratching my back?” He looked behind him. “AHHHHH.”

“Eep” Fluttershy screamed and jumped under the bed but only her head would fit.

“WHERE THE BUCK DID THESE COME FROM” Nigel screamed.

“Now darling one must not swear in the presence of ladies no matter what the situation.” Rarity advised.

“Sorry Rarity I just noticed the wings on my back and I’m kind of FREAKING OUT RIGHT NOW.”

“Gosh darn it sugarcube get a hold of yourself” Applejack said slapping him across the face with her hoof.

“Okay, okay I’m back and OWIE!” Nigel whined holding his cheek.

“Sorry sugar, but they say it’s the best way to stop somepony from freaking out.”

“It’s alright... sooooo why do I have wings again?”

“We don’t know one moment princess Celestia was showing how you absorbed magic and the next you were screaming.”

“Um excuse me but...”

“Hmmm if I have wings can I fly?”

“Can somepony help me?”

“I don’t know, why don’t you try later, maybe Rainbow Dash or Fluttershy could teach you?”

“Teaching?  That’s sooo boring you either got it or you don’t.” Rainbow Dash Declared.

“My heads stuck.”

“Well, how do we know he “has it” when we don’t even know what humans are capable of? An’ besides if he can fly who’s to say he’s not faster than you?” Applejack teased.

“Nopony is faster than me!”

“Um hello?”

“That may be true but Nigel here aint no pony.”

“Fine ill teach him, but only to prove that I am the better flyer, are you ready Nigel your about to be the first student of me! The great Rainbow Dash!”

“Gee thanks for the offer Rainbow Dash but...” Nigel started to say whilst getting off the bed and lifting it up to help Fluttershy out. “I would like Fluttershy to teach me, well the basics at least.”

“M... Me? Oh no Rainbow Dash would be a much better teacher than me I’m a very poor flyer.” Fluttershy said whilst hoofing the ground.

“She probably is for the more advance stuff, and please don’t take this the wrong way Rainbow Dash, but you don’t seem the type to teach the boring things like basics.”

“None taken you’re probably right, but if you do learn to fly come to me if you want to increase your coolness by 20% at least!” Rainbow Dash agreed.

“Al... all right then if it’s ok with Rainbow Dash co... come by my cottage when you’re out of hospital and I’ll tr... try to teach you.”

Princess Celestia rushed in threw the castle doors causing the guards to look around nervously in case something was wrong, it was very rare that the princess ran anywhere unless it was an emergency.

“Sister... Sister where are you?” Celestia shouted running through the halls.

“In here sister,” Luna called from the library, noticing how out of breath she looked, “What’s wrong?”

“Luna, my dear sister I need that book!”

“What book?”

“THAT BOOK!”

“Sister there are over three million books in this room alone, and all you give me to look for one book is with a description of tha... Ooohh I understand I’ll be right back.” Luna turned and left the room and returned a few minutes later with a book hidden under her wing.

“I... umm... wasn’t quite finished reading it yet.” Luna said blushing holding out the book she was holding titled “Stallions monthly”.

“Oh... umm... That’s alright sister I didn’t mean THAT book I meant the book of anthropology.” Celestia whispered as not to be overheard and also added. “Wait till you see the picture of Big Mac Bucking the tree.”

Blushing furiously Luna turned and left the room again and returned with a different book.

“Why do you need this book dear sister it’s just full of old mare’s tales.”

“You know as well as much as I that there is one tale in here that is true!”

“You don’t mean...?”

“Yes dear sister the tale of Prophecy is happening!”

A few days have passed and Nigel was still getting used to his new wings whenever he went to lie down on the bed they got in the way and whenever he went to sit down he ended up sitting on them, but with the bad came the good he liked the feeling when he wrapped the his wings around him and snuggled down for the night and whenever there was a breeze his feathers would react and he could feel the cool breeze flowing through each feather.

“I need to get out of here!” Nigel spoke out loud.

“Well, I have good news for you then,” a voice came from somewhere in the room.

“Who’s there?”

“It’s me,” a voice came from the chair answered chuckling a bit, “I see you’ve gone through some changes since we last met.” Bright Ideas said seeming appearing in the chair but something was different about him.

“I see I’m not the only one who has changed didn’t you used to be white with a purple mane?”

“He he you noticed sooner than I thought you would I use a spell constantly to change the colour of my mane and coat to the colours I wish.”

“Well, I guess I’ve got to ask, what colours are you originally then?”

The Pony sat in the chair smiling mischievously, “Now where is the fun in that?”

“FUN! Where? Can I join? Is it pin the tail on the pony?” The Pink mare burst in the room causing the two occupants to jump.

“Oh snap running time!” Bright Ideas said and sprinted full force out of the room.

“Ooooooh Bright I haven’t seen you in like forever have you been avoiding me? Why are you running? *GASP* you are avoiding me! You can’t escape my pinkie sense Bright Ideas!” The pink mare shouted whilst chasing after Bright Ideas.

“Well, that was... Eventful” Nigel said to himself, he didn’t have to wait long till his next visitor arrived.

“Hi Darling, how have you been?” Rarity asked walking in the room with her saddle bags.

“It’s been alright, I need to get out of here though”

“Didn’t Bright Ideas tell you?”

“Now that you mention it he did say he had some good news for me, but then pinkie came and he ran off.”

“Oh woe is me why must men always take so long to apologise?”

“So, he’s still being chased because of the pinkie promise?”

“Probably not, Pinkie has probably forgotten all about it, o well it is fun to watch”

“Rarity, can we come in now?” A young voice came from outside.

“Oh my how rude of me I forgot all about you, please come in girls”

Three little fillies walked into the room, two you didn’t recognize, but the third one you did it was the mare you saved in the fire!

“Allow me to introduce my little sister Sweetie Belle and her two friends Apple Bloom who is Applejack’s sister and Scootaloo who I know you have met before, and girls this is Nigel.” Rarity introduced.

“Hey girls how are you all today?” Nigel asked the three fillies hid behind Rarity.

“Oh come on girls don’t be shy after all you all insisted that you just had to meet him.”

“Yeah c’mon girls we have to thank him for saving Scootaloo he’s not scary, you’re not scary right?” The filly with the bow asked

“I don’t think I am, but you never know I may be isn’t that up for you to decide?”

As soon as he said that the three fillies grouped together and started to mumble one occasionally looking over to Nigel, Rarity looked over to Nigel who was grinning what was he planning? Eventually the three fillies broke apart and Apple Bloom stepped forward and said, “We have decided that you are not scary.”

“Awwwww I guess I’ll have to try harder maybe if I do THIS!” He said expanding his wings to full length and causing the fillies to dart behind Rarity.

“Oh do stop that you’re scaring the children” Rarity scolded him

“I’m sorry I’ve been cooped up here for three days and had nothing to do, but wait for visitors to show up and Lyra still hasn’t shown up!” Nigel complained folding his wings down

“Oh speaking of Lyra she sent you a letter, but there was a mix up with the mailing... again.”

“Really what does it say?”

“I don’t know a lady doesn’t snoop.”

“Doesn’t stop you from snooping in my saddlebags all the time,” Sweetie Bell mumbled causing the fillies to giggle.

Nigel took the letter from Rarity and started to read it.

Dear Nigel,
I hope this letter finds you well and I’m sorry I haven’t been and seen you for a few days, but I have been busy arranging a few things that will hopefully make your stay here more homelike Bon Bon and I are in Canterlot for her sweet convention and hopefully when we return I can visit you wherever your staying

P.S Bon Bon says hi

Nigel read the letter and set it on his bedside table. “Hmm... this could be interesting”

“What could be interesting?”

“Well, Lyra said she would visit me wherever I was staying, but I don’t have anywhere to stay.”

“Oh my you could stay with me if you wish?”

“Thanks Rarity that’s really generous of you, really it is, but I my just spend a few nights wandering around the area spend a few nights under the stars that sort of thing.”

“So, like camping then?” Sweetie Belle asked.

“I suppose so.”

“Oh can we go with him sister pleeeeeeese” Sweetie Belle begged.

“No absolutely not besides I thought you said he was scary?”

“He’s not scary!” Scootaloo spoke up for the first time causing everypony in the room to look at her, she blushed and looked down to the floor.

“Thanks Scootaloo how have you been since the incident?” Nigel responded.

“Oh... um... alright...” She was blushing so much her face had turned from orange to red.

“Glad to see your not hurt in anyway and umm... sorry for jumping out of the window without warning.” Smiling sheepishly he walked closer to Rarity and whispered, “Is she alright?”

“She’s fine darling, but don’t ask her about the incident I think she’s still in shock.”

“Alright. So, girls Rarity and Applejack have told me the three of you are in a club mind telling me more about it?”

The three girls who were scared of him just moments ago jumped on him and shouted in unison. “Cutie Mark Crusaders human catchers! YAY! And then looked at their flanks.

“Girls that is very rude of you get off him this instant!” Rarity ordered.

Sweetie Bell and Apple Bloom jumped off and walked over to Rarity giggling and Scootaloo just sat next to Nigel looking at the floor.

Sitting up Nigel asked “What was that about?”

“It’s our group that we made the Cutie Mark Crusaders,” Apple Bloom Started to explain.

“We do a lot of activities so we can finally get our cutie marks!” Finished Sweetie Belle.

“I see... What’s a cutie mark?”

“I thought we told you that when Twilight was explaining the ways of our world?” Rarity asked.

“Did she? I think I may have dozed off after she went on about how the clouds are formed in Cloudsdale.”

“I think we all did darling best not let Twilight know though,” She said with a wink.

“He he, so what are cutie marks?”

“There marks on our flanks that appear when we find out what our special talent is, for instance Princess Celestia has a sun cutie mark because her talent is to raise the sun every morning.”

“Cool so you girls thought you could get cutie marks as human catchers?”

“Yes!” Sweetie Belle and Apple Blooms said together.

Nigel looked down at Scootaloo who was still looking at the floor next to him and then looked over to Rarity who shrugged.

“Well, I don’t have a cutie mark yet so maybe my special talent is a pony catcher!” As he said these words his wings were slowly opening so the fillies wouldn’t notice he then proceeded to scoop all three of them together and tickle them, the three fillies sat their laughing even when he stopped holding their sides.

“You have gotten better at controlling your wings I see,” Rarity noticed, “and can you even get a cutie mark?” 

“In my world we never could, but who is to say it’s not possible here I mean I grew wings why not gain a cutie mark?”

“Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh, you should totally join our club then,” Sweetie Belle said recovering from the tickle attack.

“Yeah you can come by our club house any time” Scootaloo said excitedly.

“I dunno girls maybe we should ask Rarity she is the boss after all”

Instantly the girls appeared at Rarity’s hoofs and looked up at her with puppy dog eyes.

“It’s fine by me, but ask Twilight and Applejack first to get their permission.” Rarity conceded.

With that the excited little fillies dashed from the room to accomplish their goal.

“You sure that’s wise?” Nigel asked.

“Whatever do you mean?”

“Well, your Princess didn’t seem too happy about me being here when these things grew,” pointing to his wings.

“Well, I’m sure it’s nothing to worry about besides I saw how you treated the kids.”

“Thanks Rarity... Oh before I forget can you do me a favour?”

“Sure darling what is it?

“Do you have a map of the area I could borrow?

“No sorry but, Twilight should do why not go visit her in the library?”

“Thanks... ummmm one more favour please?”

“What is it?”

“How do I get to the library from here?

A few hours later Nigel finally arrived at the library and knocked on the door.

“Coming,” Spike’s voice came from the other side of the door.

Opening the door Spike looked around and saw nopony there he shrugged it off and closed the door thinking it was one of Pinkie and Rainbow Dashes pranks.

—30 seconds earlier—

“Look there he is!” One of the voices announced.

“Quick get him!” The second one yelled.

“Ah can’t wait to tell him,” The third said running towards him.

Like a flash they were in leaping range of him they all jumped...

“Oomph” Is all he said as he flew sideways with the three voices...

—Back to present—

“Got ya again Nigel!” Apple Bloom said.

“And still no cutie marks.” Sweetie Belle added.

“Will you two get off me?” Scootaloo said lying on the bottom of the three filly pile on.

“Get off you? How about getting off me?” Nigel asked with a smile.

The three fillies climbed off Nigel and stood next to him.

“Well, that happened, so what’s up girls?”

“Well, we talked to Twilight and Applejack and they agreed you can join,” Sweetie Belle said jumping on the spot.

“Join... oh, right the club.” Nigel remembered.

“Yeah can you come by the clubhouse tomorrow for the initiation?” Apple Bloom asked.

“Sorry tomorrow I can’t I’m with Fluttershy I’m going to see if I can fly with these things.”

“Fly!?” They said together.

“Yeah being that I have wings I thought I may give it a shot, what about you Scootaloo can you fly yet?”

“N..No I was hoping Rainbow Dash would teach me but she always seems to busy.” She looked down and started to hoof the ground.

“Well, why not come with me tomorrow and learn the basics from Fluttershy? Rainbow Dash said she would later teach me the more advance moves so I don’t see why she wouldn’t teach you as well.”

“Really?!” Scootaloo looked up with a wide smile on her face.

“Sure I’m sure Fluttershy wouldn’t mind she seems the kind of person who will help anybody, I mean pony who asked for help, so ill meet you at Fluttershy’s cottage then at midday?.”

“Sure! See you then.” Scootaloo said, the Cutie Mark Crusaders then ran off to do some more crusading.

“Right let’s try this again.” He said knocking on the door to the library again.

“I got it Spike,” this time it was Twilight’s voice, “Oh hi Nigel what are you doing here?”

“Hi Twilight I was wondering if you have a map of the area I would like to get to know my surrounding better.”

“Oh sure come on in I think we have one somewhere, oh hi Pinkie.”

Nigel looked behind him and jumped a few spaces back, there was Pinkie Pie right behind him.

“How do you do that, you’re like a spy!” Nigel said holding his hand to his chest.

“Oh hi Nigel I don’t have time to play right now I need Twilight’s help with something.”

“You? Pinkamina Pie, have a problem?” Twilight asked sounding shocked.

“Well, I was trying out a new name for myself Pinkamenax anyway that’s not why I’m here...”

“Hmmm sound serious, Nigel do you mind, Spike is on his way with the map.” Twilight said walking into the next room with Pinkie.

“Hey Nigel how have you been? Sorry I couldn’t visit you in hospital Twilight keeps me busy around here here’s the map you wanted.” Spike said walking down the stairs.

“Feeling much better thanks so how did you know I wanted the map I don’t recall Twilight asking you for it.”

Spike puffed out his chest proudly, “Well, what do you expect from her number one assistant.”

“Alright then can I have a look at it?”

“Sure this map is based from the centre of town, it’s quite detailed.”

“Awesome this will be a big help thanks Spike.” Giving Spike a fist bump he turned and walked out and opened the map.

“Hmmm there seems to be a pool of water close by, might be a good place to stay for the night.” Talking to himself and looking at the map he didn’t notice the stare’s from the stallions and mares nor did he notice the runaway cart until the last moment, he raised his hands instinctively and came into contact with the wood causing him to be pushed back, his feet grinding against the dirt road slowing the carts progress until it completely stopped.

“This must be one of those days...”

“And what kind of day is that?” A voice came from the other side of the wagon

“Hey Applejack just a day were random things keep happening.”

“Ha, everypony has those kinds of days except Pinkie who seems to be like that every day, anyway thanks for stopping ma wagon I was load’n it up with ma apples and it just seemed to roll away on its own.”

“Oh well no harm done, want a hand with loading your wagon?”

“That’s might kind of ya, but I can manage I’m sure you have better things to do than help me out.”

“Not really I was just gonna go explore the area a little so I may as well help it’s on my way.”

“Well, shoot if you insist I guess I can’t turn that down can I”

Wheeling the cart back to where Applejack was selling her apples they got to work loading them up talking about how their days have been, and before they both knew it they were at Sweet Apple Acres.

“Thank ya kindly for the help would you like to come in for sum supper?

“Sure if you don’t mind I’m so hungry I could eat a hor... errr barn.”

“Come on up then I’ll introduce ya to the family.”

As they walked up to the house Apple Bloom, who was looking out the window waiting for her sister to return, saw them walking up the path and darted to the front door.

“Hi Nigel!” She said excitedly and jumped up at him, seeing it coming this time he was able to catch her.

“Hiya Apple Bloom this time I’ve caught you,” He said with a smile.

“Hay what about your sister don’t I get a hug?” Applejack said poking her sister.

Apple Bloom jumped from Nigel’s hands to Applejack’s back and gave her a big hug.

“Alright now Apple Bloom that’s enough your not as small as you used to be can ya go tell granny Smith that well need another place set at the table?”

“You’re staying here tonight Nigel?” Apple Bloom asked with stars in her eyes.

“Not that I’m aware of just for dinner I wanted to check out this lake on the map I saw see if I could camp out there.”

“Awww shucks sugercube didn’t anyone tell ya, there’s gonna be a rain storm tonight you can’t be outside tonight it’ll be the death of ya,” Applejack told him.

“Dang it, know anywhere I could stay for shelter for the night?”

“Sorry sugar there’s no room in the house, but you’re more than welcome to stay in the barn tonight if ya want?”

“Sure if you don’t mind?”

“Aint no trouble, after all you did save our cart now c’mon let’s get some food I’m starved.”

After clearing up the misunderstanding with granny Smith who thought that Nigel was an alien who came to eat their brains. They sat down and ate dinner big Mac told Applejack how his work went today whilst granny Smith kept one eye on Nigel the entire time.

“Thanks for the food.” Nigel said after he had finished eating.

“No problem better our food than our brains,” granny Smith responded.

“Now granny we told ya that he ain't here to eat our brains, right big Mac?” Applejack said.

“Eeyup.”

“Anyway I’ll show you where the barn is if ya need anything just holler.”

Applejack lead Nigel to the barn and bid him good night as she turned to leave Nigel called out to her.

“Being that this is a farm and all I’m guessing you’ll be up at sunrise?”

“Yeah, that’s how it normally works why?”

“No reason, but would you mind waking me up if I’m awake already?”

“Sure thing sugar, sleep well.”

“You too,” Nigel said closing the door to the barn.

Nigel slept all through the storm and woke up buried inside the hay he was sleeping on.

“Morning Nigel I see you slept well.” Apple Bloom shouted from the barn door seeing just his legs sticking out of the hay pile.

“Fine thanks... umm... I seem to be stuck,” trying to pull himself up only to sink slightly deeper into the pile.

“I’ll lend you a hoof” Running over to Nigel she grabbed one of his legs and pulled, slowly he started to appear more and more from the pile.

“Thanks Apple Bloom, you’re awfully strong for a filly.”

Blushing a little she replied “Aww shucks twernt nothing special I’m just strong from all the farm work I do.”

“Well it shows, guess I’d better head off now and make my way to Fluttershy’s cottage.”

“Aww do ya have to leave so soon?”

“Afraid I do Apple Bloom, I still have to find my way there and I wouldn't mind exploring a little as well.”

“Alright then will ya come back here and tell me how it went?”

“Sure if not later ill come by tomorrow, don’t forget I still have the initiation to go through,” with that he walked out the barn and left to look for Fluttershy’s cottage.

After walking around town for ten minutes he started to notice that some of the ponies were staring at him, making eye contact with some of them he noticed that some of them greeted him warmly, but most looked at him with a mix of fear and curiosity, he decided that what the other ponies thought of him didn’t matter much as long they didn’t start a mob and start to chase him.

He thought to himself, “well that will never happen these people all seem friendly.” 

Looking up at the sun he notices it’s almost noon he asked a passing light blue pony for directions.

“Excuse me mind telling me how to get to Fluttershy’s cottage?”

“Me? You dare ask me, the GREAT AND POWERFUL TRIXIE such a simple question?”

“Err...”

“Ha, look at how the creature is powerless at my power!”

“That’s enough now Trixie I thought we worked on how you should talk to everypony?” A Dark brown pegasus with bandaged wings scolded her.

“But this creature isn't a pony he’s a... um what are you creature?”

“He’s a human Trixie,” Bright Ideas said walking towards them.

“Okay you have got to tell me how you seem to come out of nowhere like that,” the pegasus said.

“Someday Broadsword it’s more fun this way.” Bright Ideas said with a sly smile.

“Sorry to interrupt guys, but would you mind telling me how to get to Fluttershy’s cottage? I’m running a little late,” Nigel interrupted.

Bright Ideas pointed the way to Fluttershy’s cottage and Nigel left in a hurry.

“It seems like a few things have changed since we were last here Bright.”

“You have no idea Broad, come ill treat you and Trixie to some hay-shakes and tell you about what’s happened.”

Arriving at Fluttershy’s cottage just as the clock tower struck noon he saw that Fluttershy was waiting outside for him.

“Hi Fluttershy have you seen Scootaloo I invited her to join us I hope you don’t mind.”

“Oh no it’s alright Scootaloo has been here since dawn, she got a bit overexcited so she went to lie down in my butterfly grove, oh here she comes now.” Fluttershy told him in her usual quiet voice.

“Hiya Nigel are you ready for today? And thanks Fluttershy that grove is a great place to relax,” Scootaloo greeted them.

“Yeah I’m ready my wings have been itching to fly for days.”

“Try waiting as long as I have then.”

“Alright my little flyers let’s start with a few basic wing movements spread out your wings as far out as you can and feel the wind flow through your feathers.”

Following Fluttershy’s instructions the pair spread their wings and felt the wind flowing through their feathers they both felt the adrenaline starting to build up they wanted to fly they NEEDED to fly, to reach the clouds and touch them, to feel the cool wind that could only be felt at height’s only known to those who belong to the sky flow through their hair.

Fluttershy watched their reactions she had seen it many times on the all the baby birds she had taught to fly.

“Alright now when you feel ready flap your wings slowly and build up speed.”

Scootaloo was the first to start flapping her wings slowly rising until she was just level with the height of the cottage.

“I..I’m doing it IM FLYING look Nigel I’m doing it.” Scootaloo looked down at Nigel who was standing there with his eyes closed and wings raised at full height.

Concentrating Nigel felt the wind flow through his feathers, Adrenalin pumping through his body, he tensed him muscles and lowered his wings and took off like a rocket.

“HOLY CRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.......”

Chapter 3: The unexpected


“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAP” Nigel finished screaming after what felt like weeks.

“Oh my, he flew so high from just that take off” Fluttershy said to herself.

“Wow, way to go Nigel that was faster than Rainbow Dash.” Scootaloo remarked.

All of a sudden there was a whoosh and Rainbow Dash was next to Scootaloo.

“What’s going on I heard faster and Rainbow Dash in the same sentence and hey look who’s finally off the ground.” Rainbow Dash said patting the orange filly on the head.

“It’s Nigel he went that high up from just take off.” Trying to hover in place but kept bobbing up and down.

Rainbow Dash looked up and saw Nigel there and her eyes widened.

“Ummmm, Fluttershy you may want to get a net that can catch him” Rainbow shouted to the yellow mare on the ground.

Fluttershy didn’t know why, but she ran off to get the net Rainbow Dash asked for.

“Why do we need a net Rainbow? I’m fine and Nigel is doing better than me,” Scootaloo asked still trying to keep hovering.

“Well, assuming that Nigel hasn’t been trained since birth to control his breathing I’d say he’s about to lose consciousness.”

“Why?”

“Because the higher you go the thinner the air gets if you’re not used to it you’ll end up losing consciousness, the trouble is that it hits you like a brick wall so one moment your fine the next... O there he goes.”
Like a bolt of lightning Rainbow flew over to Fluttershy who had returned with the net and saw Nigel falling like a switch Fluttershy took off and was able to keep pace with Rainbow Dash, The pair flew up with and caught Nigel in the net slowing his fall.

“Sweet Celestia how much does he weigh? Rainbow dash commenting struggling to keep the net in her hoofs

“I don’t know, but if we can’t slow him down he will get hurt again” Fluttershy replied also struggling to hold the net

Scootaloo was watching the scene from the air she could see them struggling to slow Nigel down, she tried to go over and help, but when she tried to move forward she only resulted in doing a forward roll so all she could do was stay there and watch.

Nigel woke up facing a white ceiling he sat up and looked around and saw various bandages and other medical equipment.

“Damn it, why do I keep waking up in hospital.” Nigel said to himself.

“Well, maybe if you didn’t fall from heights all the time you wouldn’t need to go to hospital, honestly you choose weird places to take naps.” Rainbow Dash said from the doorway.

“I don’t want to hear that from you considering that you once slept on top of Apple Jacks barn” He replied with a smile

“Hey it’s a good place to sleep you’ll have to try it sometime.”

“I guess I will so what happened to me one moment I was looking around next I couldn’t breathe and blacked out.”

Rainbow explained what happened and how he needed to get used to the thinner air, “and then we brought you into Fluttershy’s rest room,” she finished explaining.

“Wait this is Fluttershy’s house?” Nigel said looking around, “Not what I thought someone like Fluttershy house would be like.”

“This is just her rest room you dolt it’s for the animals that are too big for her to rest in her normal rooms, come on I’ll show you.” Rainbow said turning and leaving the room.

Nigel got up and followed her out of the room and hit his head on the doorframe.

“Ouch damn it it’s not my day today at... Oomph” For the second time today he had the air knocked out of him as a sobbing Scootaloo pounced on him as soon as she saw him.

“I... was... so... worried...” She cried into his chest sobbing between each word.

“It’s alright Scootaloo I’m alright apart from my sore head and having a slight bump there.” He replied rubbing his head he lifted the filly off his chest and put her into his lap and started to stroke her mane absent-mindedly, looking around he noticed that the room he was in was more loving and warm than that room he saw Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash were talking on the sofa Fluttershy noticed him looking around the room.

“Ar... Are you alright now Nigel?” Fluttershy asked.

“I’m fine sorry for making you worry.”

“Oh stop it you two he’s fine don’t worry about it and let’s just move on.” Rainbow Dash butted in.

“Alright then I think I got take off down now all I need is to learn how to go forward and backwards basically everything else,” Nigel said with a smile.

“Whoa there tiger I think that’s enough flying for today you gave everypony a fright and you’ll have Equestria’s greatest flyer and future captain of the Wonderbolts teaching you from tomorrow onwards,” Rainbow Dash told him.

“Really! Awesome!” Nigel went to get up give Rainbow a hug, but felt Scootaloo was still on his lap, looking down he saw that she was fast asleep.

“It seems she has taken a shine to you right Fluttershy?”

“Y...Yes I suppose i...it was bound to happen”

“Really why?” Nigel asked.

“You mean besides the fact that you saved her from a burning building? You also helped her to ask for flying lessons which is a big thing in a young pegasus’ life.” Rainbow explained.

“How come?”

“There’s like some sort of belief that unless the young pegasus asks for lessons then they won’t be taught, sort of a test of bravery or something Scootaloo really wanted to fly, we could tell, but she never had the courage to ask us.”

“Really I thought you all had some sort of flight school or something?”

“We do, but that’s only for if you live in Cloudsdale, pegasus’ who live outside of Cloudsdale are taught by the ones who can.”

“Oh cool I’d prefer the second option it seems more relaxed I never did well with schools, mind if I ask you a favour Fluttershy?”

“Umm... sure wh... what is it?”

“Would you mind letting me and Scootaloo stay here tonight it seems she seems like she is settled for the night.”

“Su... sure if you don’t mind the mess.”

Nigel looked around the room again, “If you call this messy then you wouldn’t like what my old room used to look like”

As the conversation continued on nobody noticed the small bunny enter the cottage, the bunny looked around the room with his bunny vision and noticed a new creature with wings, the bunny moved around the room to get a better look at the creature.

“Must be the ‘Human’ Fluttershy was on about,” the bunny thought to himself.

“Oh Angel I didn’t see you come in are you hungry?” Giving it some thought Fluttershy asked “um... would y...you all like to have din...Diner here?”

Immediately Rainbow Dash and Nigel answered, “Yes please.”

“Alright then I’ll go prepare dinner then” Her nervous stutter gone because they didn’t reject her offer.

“I’ll come and lend you a hand if you don’t mind?” Nigel asked.

“I... I don’t mind but wh...why?” Her stutter coming back as quickly as it came.

“A few reason really:
Reason one, I can’t digest hay very well so ill have to prepare something for myself.
Reason two, I would like to learn how to cook a few things so I can take care of myself.
And the third most important reason is that a man should always help women whenever they can.”

“I think you have been talking to Rarity too much,” Rainbow Dash commented with a badly hidden smirk on her face.

“I think that’s a wonderful way to live if everypony would get along better” Fluttershy said causing Rainbow be quiet.

Walking into the kitchen Fluttershy and Nigel got to work making dinner for Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy and Scootaloo.

“So, Nigel what do humans eat then are they herbivores or car...carnivores?” Fluttershy asked afraid it might be the latter.

“Nether humans are omnivores we can eat both meat and organic things like apples and mushrooms I particularly like fish.”

“Ohhh we don’t have many omnivores in Equestria most ponies just think that there are only one or the other and I think I have some fish around here somewhere.”

“Why would you have fish I didn’t think you were the type to eat meat.”

Fluttershy giggled a little, “Oh you, you know ponies are herbivores, I keep them around for the creatures I look after that eat things like fish.”

“Oooh that makes much more since I’m guessing you have never cooked fish then?”

“N...no, but I’m sure it’s not that hard.”

“Hehe it’s not, luckily its one of the few things I know how to cook”

After Fluttershy went and got the fish Nigel started to prepare the fish for cooking whilst Fluttershy finished everyone else’s meals.

“Sorry about this Fluttershy I’m meant to be helping you, but I’m just making more of a mess of the kitchen.”

“Oh no don’t worry its quite amazing how you sort out the fish I may be able to use it to make it easier for the creatures that are to hurt bad enough that they can’t eat fish but need to.”

“Well, in that case if you ever need any help with that or anything just ask and if im not in a life or death situation I’ll be right over.”

Blushing slightly Fluttershy took the dinner into the dining room where Rainbow Dash and the sleepy Scootaloo where waiting.

“Fluttershy are you... Blushing? Ooooh I think your falling for our winged friend in there.” Rainbow Dash teased her.

“I am not I just think he’s... different from other stallions.”

“Well, of course he’s different to start with he’s not a stallion he’s a human.”

“That’s not what I mean he’s kinder and more reliable than most of the stallions around here.”

“We’ll see, Scoot you properly awake yet?”

“Nnnn... just five more minutes.” Scootaloo replied groaning.

“Fine then I guess I’ll just have to eat yours.”

“Noooooo im staaaarving!” Scootaloo moaning sitting up at the table, “Hey where did Nigel go?”

“He’s in the kitchen you must have been pretty tired considering you cried yourself to sleep in his lap.” Rainbow Dash kept teasing her.

“That’s enough Rainbow else I’ll take away your dinner and give it to Angel,” Fluttershy scolded.

“I..I’ll be quiet,” Rainbow Dash said looking down at her plate and ate quietly remember the last time she said that she actually did give it to Angel.

After a short while Nigel walked in with his freshly cooked fish and sat down on the floor with it causing all the ponies at the table to look over at him.

“Errr Nigel what are you doing?” Scootaloo asked.

“Oh your awake Scootaloo? I’m eating my fish why?”

“That’s not what I meant, why are you sitting on the floor and not at the table.”

“Oh it’s because the chairs here can’t support my weight I found that out at the hospital the painful way,” With that Nigel resumed eating his fish.

The three pegasus looked at each other and without a word grabbed their plates and sat down next to Nigel they all ate their meals talking and laughing, after the meal they all decided to stay over at Fluttershy’s cottage for the night.

“Oh, but I only have two bedrooms somepony will have to sleep on the sofa.” Fluttershy said.

“No problem I was planning to sneak out and sleep outside anyway,” Nigel replied with a smile.

“Why would you do that?” Scootaloo asked.

“Well, I am a guy remember and I feel more comfortable outside anyway so ill find a tree and sleep there.”

“Are you sure you want to do that? Wont you get cold?” Fluttershy asked.

“Ill be fine I get nice and warm when I wrap my wings around myself, it’s quite handy to be honest there like a blanked that are always with me.”

“But what if...”

“No no I insist go on, off to bed with all of you have sweet dreams and all of that,” with that Nigel turned around and left the cottage and climbed a tree and settled in for the night.

A few hours have passed since Nigel climbed the tree he was laying back and was looking up at the star filled sky through a clearing in the tree.

“My you’re a strange creature aren’t you?” A voice came from the bottom of the tree.

The sudden appearance of this voice made Nigel jump and fall out of the tree and belly flopped into the dirt below.

“Ouch, that looked like it hurt are you okay?” The pony asked.

“Yeah I’m fine just give me a sec,” pushing himself up Nigel took a look at the pony standing in front of him, he saw that it was a mare with a light violet coat and a darker violet mane it was too dark to see her eyes.

“Sorry about that I’m Nigel who are you?”

“Hmm I suppose you could call me Pandora,” The mare introduced herself.

“Well, Pandora what brings you here at this time of night?”

“Nothing much I’m just taking a stroll I find that the night sky helps to relax me, it’s so quiet and peaceful.”

“Yeah it sure is,” Nigel replied they both looked up at the sky that was littered with stars for a few minutes.

“Well, thank you for your company Nigel, but I suppose I better go back home and get some sleep,” Pandora said and turned and started to walk away.

“Same to you Pandora, sweet dreams.”

“You too Nigel have a good rest,” She continued to walk away, “you’ll need it.” She added under her breath.

“Hey wake up sleepy head your training starts now!”

For the second time Nigel was startled out of his tree, but this time he recovered and landed in a crouched position.

“Wow that was impressive recruit now stand up at attention!”

“Damn it Rainbow do you have to be so loud in the morning?” Nigel said rubbing his eyes.

“Hey if you want to learn how to fly like a pro then you will address me as mam or captain.”

Nigel thought it would be better to play along rather than rebel so he stood up and puffed his chest out and said, “Mam yes mam.”

“Good, now get down and give me twenty wing push ups.”

After the push ups there was even more push ups followed by sit ups and after going through this routine for two hours Fluttershy and Scootaloo came out for their lesson.

“Oh hi Rainbow Dash I thought we was gonna start our lessons together?” Fluttershy asked.

“We are, I was just seeing how long it would take for Nigel to get fed up he’s surprisingly fit,” Rainbow replied with a sour face with because her prank had backfired.

“You WHAT,” Nigel said getting up from his last set of push ups, “You realise that I am going to have to get even right?”

“Yeah yeah I’d like to see you try, let’s get on with this lesson shall we.” Rainbow replied.

Over the next few days Nigel and Scootaloo got a lot better at flying they were able to do the basic movements and a few tricks taught by Rainbow Dash, on the last day of the week Twilight came to visit.

“Hi Twilight what are you doing here?” Fluttershy asked.

“Oh not much just thought I’d see how everypony was doing.”

“Hey Rainbow Dash how about a race?” Nigel shouted at the pegasus who was practising her flying moves.

“Hahahaha you think you could beat me in a race?” Rainbow replied landing in front of him.

“Well, only one way to find out how about to Sweet Apple Acers and back?”

“Sure we’ll start from here,” Rainbow Dash drew a line in the dirt with her hoof.

“Can I join in too?” Scootaloo asked.

“Sorry Scootaloo this is gonna be a tricky race, it’s time for me to return the prank she did on me by showing how slow she is.” Nigel said patting her head.

“What you’re still sore over that? Well, I guess this means that my victory will be all the sweeter.”

“We’ll see, Fluttershy will you start the race?”

“Me!? Are you sure you wouldn’t want Twilight to do it?”

“you’ll be fine Fluttershy all you need to do is say ready, set, go.”

“O...ok um... racers to your positions,” Nigel and Rainbow Dash walked up to the start line, “Um... r...ready, sssss...set, go.”

As soon as Fluttershy started the race Nigel and Rainbow took off like a pair of rockets keeping even, flying faster and faster until Rainbow Dash pulled ahead.

“Ha is that all you’ve got I didn’t know you were that slow Nigel” Rainbow shouted back at him.

“I’m just a bit parched once I get some water you wonder even see me pass you,” and with that he flew into the closest cloud and half a minute later he came bursting out with speed that almost rivalled the sonic rainboom.

Rainbow Dash looked back to see if she could see Nigel, seeing only open sky she smiled to herself and decided to give him a sporting chance and slowed down a bit, but when she looked back forward Nigel was already in front of her and was nearly at Sweet Apple Acers picking up speed she pulled even with Nigel.

Rainbow Dash couldn’t explain it how could a newbie flyer be able to keep up with her and keep his cool at these speeds that he has never flown before the only thing left that should could do is use the sonic rainboom and leave him in her dust.

“No hard feelings Nigel, but I’m going to win,” and with that she sped up and broke the sound barrier causing her to gain the speed she needed with a smug grin on her face she knew she had the race in the bag until she heard another boom go off behind her.

“Impossible, how can he do a sonic rainboom as well he only started to fly a week ago?” Deciding it would be better to think such things later she focused on winning the race.

“Wow I didn’t know Nigel was that fast he’s able to keep up with Rainbow Dash,” Scootaloo admired.

“Oh I’d say Nigel is even beating her,” Nigel commented.

“What the... Nigel how did you get here aren’t you racing Rainbow?”

“I was until I went into the cloud then Twilight did her magic’s and made a clone or something that is equal to Rainbows speed,” Nigel explained with a smile on his face, “I told you it was going to be a tricky race,” he added with a wink.”

“But how did you convince Twilight to help you?”

“I asked her if she would help me pull a prank on Rainbow Dash and she said ok.”

“I wanted to test out the new spell I learnt and this was the perfect opportunity it’s a spell that helps improve yourself with a copy all I had to do was cast a shape shift on the clone,” Twilight said in her usual explanatory manner.

“By the way Twilight you said you needed help with something what was it?”

“Oh nothing much it can wait until later lets just enjoy the race for now.”

The group sat around and talked waiting for Rainbow Dash to come close enough to see Nigel was on the ground already they didn’t have to wait long.

Rainbow Dash started to slow down so she would crash into the ground for when she landed, but was still going fast enough not to give Nigel the edge until she saw him already on the ground, her mouth fell open and she looked back and saw Nigel was still behind her and then she realised she had been tricked.

“O...ooooooh I think the cats out of the bag she’s stopped,” Nigel said.

The group on the ground started to laugh even Fluttershy gave a small giggle Rainbow Dash turned away and flew off somewhere.

“Oh dear I hope we didn’t hurt her feelings,” Fluttershy said with concern.

“Don’t worry I’m sure her feelings are fine it’s just her pride that’s wounded see she’s coming back now with that ...giant... raincloud... oh crud, RUN!” Nigel Shouted.

The group on the ground turned and ran to Fluttershy’s cottage, but they were to slow Rainbow Dash caught up to them and let loose the water in the cloud down below drenching everyone.

“Thought you could make a fool out of me will ya,” Rainbow Dash said with a smile.

The group on the ground just fell over laughing in the rain getting drenched, then they started to play in the rain by making mud angles and splashing in puddles, Rainbow Dash and even some of the creatures Fluttershy takes care off joined in.

Ten minutes later the group walked into Fluttershy’s cottage muddy and wet, but still laughing they each went to get cleaned up and dried, then cleaned up the mess they made walking in Fluttershy and Nigel went and prepared lunch for the group whilst Rainbow Dash told Twilight how the clone behaved and Scootaloo played with Angel, after they all finished their lunch there was a knock on the door.

“I’ll get it” Fluttershy said walking to the door, “Oh hello Spike did you want to talk to Twilight?”

“Yes please is she still here?”

“What is it Spike?” Twilight asked coming to the door.

“You have a message from the Princess she asked if you could come to Canterlot the day after tomorrow.”

“Oh boy here we go again,” Rainbow Dash groaned.

“What do you mean?” Nigel asked.

“Wait for it.”

“The princess!? Oh no what if it’s a test I must study and pack I need to prepare thanks everypony for the fun morning bye.” Twilight ran out of the cottage towards the library.

“Well, that was...sudden,” Nigel said with a blank look on his face.

“It happens every time the princess asks her to go to Canterlot nothing to worry about it’s just how she copes with it,” Rainbow Dash replied.

Over the next few days Nigel and Scootaloo helped Fluttershy take care of the various creatures she looks after, when the time came they went and said goodbye to Twilight at the train station.

“Goodbye dear, hope everything goes well.” Rarity said hugging Twilight.

“Yeah good luck at whatever the princess wants you to do.” Rainbow Dash said patting her on the back

“Hurry back so we can have a PARTY!” Pinkie shouted whilst firing her party cannon.

“Just make sure ya get back safe sugercube,” Applejack told her.

“Say hi to the princess for us if you don’t mind?” Fluttershy asked her.

“Well, I don’t know what’s going on, but good luck,” Nigel said shaking her hoof.

“You stay out of trouble alright the princess put me in charge of you so it’ll be bad if you did something stupid whilst I’m away,” Twilight warned him.

“Stupid I don’t know what you mean,” Nigel said feigning ignorance.

“Hmmm really how about running into burning buildings, flying to high you lose consciousness or falling out of trees?”

“O yeah I seem to remember doing those things.”

“Don’t ya worry Twi well keep an eye on him,” Applejack told her.

“Yeah I mean what’s the worst that could happen?” Rainbow Dash asked.

After Twilight left for Canterlot the group went their separate ways leaving Nigel on his own.

“Finally, some me time, now I can explore the area outside of town,” Nigel said to himself pulling out the map he borrowed from the library.

Studying the map he didn’t notice the unicorn stallion walk up to him.

“Well, you seem busy these last few days I haven’t seen you much around town.”

“Hiya Bright Ideas,” Nigel greeted the unicorn without looking up from the map, how did the problem with Pinkie Pie go?”

“Ah well I think that’s gotten even more complicated if you’d like I’ll tell you about it over lunch and point out some places you would probably like to check out on your map.”

“Sure why not.”

Following Bright Ideas over to his favourite restaurant he listened to his story of what happened after Pinkie Pie chased him and what happened after she caught him.

“Well, sounds like you’re in a complicated situation alright what you gonna do about it?”

“I was hoping that you would do me a favour...”

“Hmmm this seems like the real reason you asked me for lunch.”

“Well, maybe” Bright Ideas said with a mischievous grin.

“Go on then let’s hear you out.”

“Well, I was hoping you could distract Pinkie Pie long enough so I could sort some things out.”

“Distract Pinkie Pie whilst she’s focusing on something she wants? You realise that’s suicidal right? Like not even a joke its literally suicidal I heard what happened to the last person who got in her way.”

“Pleaaase Nigel you’re the only interesting thing that can distract Pinkie for a long enough I mean it’s too peaceful here...”

Suddenly there was a scream coming from the other side of town.

“You were saying?”

“Oh it’s probably Rarity screaming about some fashion disaster.”

“HELP AN URSA MINOR IS ATTACKING!!!” A panicking pony shouted running from the direction where the scream came from.

“Wow two for two, it’s not your day today is it Bright.”

“Oh shut up.”

And with that they ran off towards the edge of the village to see how they could help.

Arriving at the scene there was no Ursa Minor to be seen, looking around there wasn’t even a pony was in sight as well.

“By the way what does an Ursa Minor look like?” Nigel asked Bright Ideas.

“It looks like a bear, but much bigger and has stars on its coat kind of hard to miss so I think it was just some prank being played.”

“Erm... nope defiantly not... I think I found it... we should probably run.”

“It’s behind me isn’t it?”

“Well... no not behind you I would say more above...”

Looking up Bright Ideas saw that he was staring into the eyes of the Ursa Minor

“HOLY BUCK! RUN!”

Nigel and Bright Ideas turned and ran back from the direction they came from with the Ursa in tow destroying buildings as it ran after them.

“Nigel we need to get everypony out of here, go find Applejack and Rainbow Dash!” 

“No need partner we’re all here.” Applejack called emerging from the crowd of ponies with Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie and Rarity.

“Oh good Applejack would you take everypony to your farm it’s the furthest place from where the Ursa is rampaging.”

“Sure thing,” Applejack said running off to gather everypony she could.

“Pinkie Pie you go with her and help keep everypony distracted with what you do and yes you can use your party cannon and before you say it no you can’t use vinyl’s base cannon.”

“Awww party pooper,” Pinkie Pie said hopping after Applejack.

“Rainbow Dash fly to Cloudsdale and see if you can get the Wonderbolts to come and help.”

“Uh uh no way I’m not leaving ponyville in its time of need,” Rainbow told him defiantly

“Grrr you know you loyalty is really annoying at times like this right? Fine go and find Rain Runner and gather as many rainclouds as you possibly can the Ursa is destroying buildings and causing fires will your loyalty let you do that?”

“Yes sir,” Rainbow Dash replied saluting.

Bright Ideas started to looked around to see if there was anypony he could call to help in this situation then his eyes fell on Marine Magic and Atom they were helping the earth pony Ginger Root.

Running over to them he called “hey guys what happened here?”

“Not much Ginger Root just fell over were taking him to the hospital,” Atom told him.

“Rarity can you take him to Applejack’s it will be safer there and nurse Redheart should be there as well.”

“Sure thing darling,” turning to Ginger Root she asked him, “Will you be alright dear if we walk all that way?”

“Y...yeah I’ll be fine you can’t keep me down as long as this fez is on my head I won’t stay down,” He replied climbing onto his hoofs.

“That’s good maybe you could help Pinkie Pie as well with some songs as well to keep everyone distracted,” Bright Ideas asked him.

“Now that I can defiantly do leave it to me.”

Walking off whilst leaning on Rarity Bright Ideas couldn’t help feel a little jealous of Ginger Root, turning back to face the other he noticed a single pony was standing in front of the Ursa.

“I hope that’s not who I think it is,” Raising a hoof to his forehead, “NATSU! Get away from there.”

“Relax guys I got this.” Summoning up a massive fire storm around himself he then directed it at the Ursa, but missed and set fire to a building instead.

The entire group that was with Bright Ideas groaned and all raised their hoofs to their heads with the exception of Nigel who raised his hand instead.

“Damn it Natsu you just said fire to the corn factory...” Bright Ideas told him.

“Wait I can fix this I can...”

“No Natsu go... just...go...Atom please go with him to make sure he wont try anything like that again...” Suddenly the sound of popping came from the building that was just set on fire causing the Ursa to turn curiously to the sound.

“Well, at least he distracted it for a while... Fluttershy can you and Marine Magic find the animals that are bound to be running around in panic and take them to your cottage it should be safe there.”

“Umm... sure but I don’t know if I... I can do it I mean I...I’m scared,” She replied covering her face with both her hoofs.

“Fluttershy don’t worry you’ll be fine ill keep the Ursa under control and I’m sure this stallion here, Marine Magic wasn’t it, will keep you safe as well,” Nigel told her removing her hoofs from her face.

“O...okay,” She whispered and took to the air to look for some animals in the air whilst Marine Magic looked for them with his magic on the ground.

“Alright so that just leave me and you Nigel everypony and animal should now be safe.”

“Don’t forget about me I can help,” A pony with metal gray coloured coat said appearing behind them.

“Damn it Book Blink don’t do that when we are in a crisis it almost makes me jump with fright every time.

“I know that’s why I do it so what do you need?”

“Well, you could be our messenger use your talent and teleport to Applejack’s farm and to the other groups letting them know what’s going on?” Bright Ideas asked.

“Sure thing,” And with that he was gone.

“Come on Doctor we can’t take on an Ursa Minor with just a screwdriver we need to run!” Nigel turned around and noticed that the voice came from a gray coloured pegasus.

“Hmmm you may be right Ditzy, but we can’t let it destroy the town,” the brown stallion told her he was holding some sort of screwdriver that was emitting some noise.

The Ursa Minor was happily eating the popcorn that had come from the corn factory that Natsu had set fire to until it heard an annoying noise coming from the two ponies below him; he swept a claw at them.

“DOCTOR!!” Screamed Ditzy.

“I’m sorry Ditzy I couldn’t protect you,” the doctor whispered to her.

“YOU TWO RUN!” Nigel shouted at them pushing them away causing Nigel to get slashed by the claws and was sent flying into a wall.

“Ditzy look it’s a human I mean he has wings so maybe he’s not a human, but he’s humanoid at the least, oh it’s so exciting if you exclude the Ursa Minor attack and the fact he just got slashed,” The Doctor told Ditzy.

“O yeah I know there was talk around town that there was a human about he didn’t have wings though when he arrived you would know this if he came out of your blue box sometimes.”

“Ditzy not now we need to make sure that he’s alright come on let’s get him on his back.” Whilst rolling over Nigel, Bright Ideas came running over joined with Applejack and Book Blink.

“Oh no, quick Book Blink go back and get nurse Redheart now!” Bright Ideas barked at him, with a quick flash he was gone.

“That...” Nigel said with a weak voice.

“Don’t speak sugah save your strength,” Applejack told him.

“That...ing...hurt...” Nigel still muttered stumbling to his feet.

“Nigel stay down your hurt bad.” Bright Ideas reached out a hoof to him.

“THAT BUCKING HURT!!!!” Nigel shouted and took off faster than he had ever done before flying faster and faster he easily broke the sound barrier making his own sonic boom he flew right at the Ursa Minor.

“Oh no he aint gonna fight that thing is he?” Applejack said starting to run after him.

“It looks like he’s completely lost it I don’t think we can stop him.”

The Ursa Minor jumped at the sudden boom sound and looked around to see where it came from then he noticed the flying creature coming at him fast the Ursa took a swipe at it but missed.

“WILL YOU JUST GO HOME ALREADY?!” Nigel shouted at the Ursa punching it in the nose causing the Ursa to fall over, the Ursa didn’t even look back it just got up and ran back into the Everfree forest from fear of more pain

“Did he just punch an Ursa Minor? More importantly did he just make it fall over from just one punch?” Bright Ideas asked sliding to a stop staring at amazement.

“Ah...ah think so... hey Bright?” Applejack asked stopping as well

“Yeah Applejack?

“Remind me never to get on the wrong side of him.”

“Yeah... that sounds like a good idea to me...o damn he falling quick lets go.”

Nigel had just enough strength left to fly down to the ground safely, once he reached the ground he could no longer stand so he decided to just lay there he then noticed a shadow was over him.

“Oh hey Pandora...” Was all he could manage before falling unconscious due to fatigue.”

“Princess Celestia your student lady Sparkle is here and requests to speak to you.”

“Thank you guardsmen send her in.” Princess Celestia ordered him.

“Princess Celestia,” Twilight said bowing to her, “I am here by your request what do you need?”

“Request? I never asked for you to come here my faithful student.”

“But I received a letter that you wanted to see me today!”

“This is most puzzling perhaps Luna sent it instead?

“No the letter said Princess Celestia I read it through hundreds of times.”

“Hmmm this is strange, I feel like this has been planned, I think we should return to Ponyville right away.”

Deep in the thickest part of the Everfree forest three ponies met.

“Hello sister were you able to get it?” A brown pegasus asked.

“Yes I was with this we can restore daddy,” the light violet earth pony replied holding up a small vile filled with red liquid.

“Yes then father will be please with us, his three children of chaos, but there is one more step we must find and free mother,” the third one of them said.

All three children of chaos laughed maniacally causing the once silence forest to echo them.

well were on chap 4 and i have been quiet a while just a little longer till its done this ones taken longer than the others for reasons of time just seem to of gone quicker than (insert fast thing here) i had one but went to quick for type down... so yes the chap 4 will be done soon and i decided to do a side story for the side chars so if you wanna get your OC in the story pm me its details such as colour race how he react who his friends are etc etc thanks for waiting

hi all hows it all going its been a while XD

well the cover art is done finnaly thank JPTrixie-Fan for drawing it because i have about the same drawing skills as a log anyway let me know what you think of it andd next chapter will be out in next couple of weeks yay!
