> Fluttersized > by Barrobroadcaster > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > A little problem > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fluttershy thanked the store owner of the shop in Cloudsdale as she exited. She lived near the Everfree Forest and didn't find herself in the sky village very often but there were some things she just couldn't find anywhere else, like the special airbush seeds she just bought. She placed the bag of seeds in her hoof-woven basket and proceeded out into the street of clouds. She trotted merrily to the edge of the street and look over the side. The surface of Equestria stretched out far below her in all directions, the landscape a beautiful tapestry of shapes and colors. Golden fields of grain, rolling hills of green and darker green forests lead up to majestic purple moutains topped with snow as white as the clouds she stood on. In the center of all this far below was the town of Ponyville, the buildings looking like a tiny collection of blocks in the middle of a map of Equestria. Fluttershy kicked off the clouds with her basket full of seeds and headed back home. She soared through the air feeling the sun on her mane, back and wings as she descended. The wind whistled by her ears as Ponyville got closer. As she was flying, she noticed a purple glow of some sort coming from the center of town. The glow grew large and bright and exploded outward. Fluttershy was momentarily blinded by it and more than a little startled. She dropped her basket in midair. "Oh no!" she said out loud as she felt the basket slip off of her hooves. She rubbed her eyes with her free hoof and tried to see where the basket fell. She hovered and looked down at Ponyville. Strange, the buildings looked further away. Had she been knocked back by whatever that flash was? And just what had that purple light been? She flew down to the surface to investigate. As she drew nearer to the surface, the buildings of Ponyville grew larger. But they weren't growing larger fast enough as Fluttershy hit the ground far after the buildings should've appeared normal size to her. She landed in the market place but something was strange about it. All the stalls where vendors sold their items were only about the size of her hooves. The buildings stood only a third as tall as her legs. It was like she was standing in a miniature Ponyville. "What is this?" she asked aloud. "What is what?" a brown-coated older salestallion pulling a cart out of a storefront asked. He yanked the cart past the door's opening and turned to see Fluttershy... or at least one of her now giant legs. He froze at the sight of the huge yellow hoof. He followed it up to the confused face of Fluttershy high above him. Carefully, he reached into the cart and pulled out a pair of glasses. With jittery hooves, he placed them in front of his eyes and viewed the scene before him again. He looked up at the giant pair of eyes above him. "Um, excuse me but do you know what is going-" Fluttershy tried to ask. "AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!" the stallion screamed, dropped the cart and galloped off in the direction of the town square. "G-g-giant monster!!!" he shouted down the street. Other ponies began looking out of windows, coming out of doors and turning to see what the stallion was yelling about. "Giant monster?! Oh no! Where?!" Fluttershy asked in a scared tone. She backed away from the store and heard a crunch beneath her back-right hoof. She looked underneath it to see she'd stepped on a stall, crushing it to pieces. "Oh dear, I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to-" she turned quickly towards the splinters of wood and canvas under her. She spun around too quickly though and her giant tail swiped across the roof of a building behind her, brushing off the paneling like it was made of paper. She turned her head toward the building and took a step forward, unintentionally stomping a cart full of melons into the ground. The sticky remains of the fruit clung to her hoof. She wiped her hoof on the ground to clean it off. The earth beneath her shook as she brushed the grass. She turned to face the other building and destroyed another stall by accidentally brushing it with the top of her hoof. Ponies exited their homes, stores and buildings and followed the sounds of destruction to the scene in the market place. Dust, dirt and broken pieces of wood filled the air as the giant yellow pegasus whipped back and fourth. Ponies panicked, screamed and ran in the opposite direction. "What's everypony running for? It's not the Morning Middle-of-town Marathon for a few more months!" Pinkie Pie said as she watched the fleeing residents. Pinkie Pie noticed a giant shadow cast on the ground. She followed it up to its source in the market place to see the giant form of Fluttershy smash into a building, destroying it completely. Pinkie's eyes went wide at the sight. "RUN FOR YOUR LIVES EVERYPONY! IT'S FLUTTERZILLA!!" Pinkie screeched and joined the mob of ponies galloping away in terror. Pieces of the building Fluttershy tripped into fell to the ground as she stood up. The market place was in ruins all around her. She turned to see the townsfolk all fleeing from her. "Oh, please don't go! I don't know what's going on! Can somepony please help me?!" she shouted at them as they retreated. But none of them even turned back as they fled out of sight. "Will somepony please tell me what's happening?" Fluttershy asked, her voice now almost a whisper. She felt tears well up in her eyes. Why was Ponyville so little? Or, why was she so big? She thought about trying to fly back to Cloudsdale. Carefully, she extended her wings. She flapped them a couple times, the draft they caused made a few buildings sway and knocked over a couple more stalls. She retracted her wings slowly. Tears began to stream down her face as she felt the utter hopelessness of the situation. What am I going to do, she thought. Twilight! Maybe Twilight knew something about what caused all this. Her home wasn't far from here, if only she could get there without crushing anything or hurting anypony. She carefully stepped through the town and headed towards Twilight's house. > Something shy this way flutters > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight examined the glass of water on the stand in her foyer. It didn't look any bigger. What had gone wrong? The spell she just performed was supposed to tripple the size of anything you cast it on but her intended target for the spell remained unchanged. She checked her spell book again to see if she missed anything. "What happened Twilight?", Spike, her baby dragon assitant asked. "That's what I'm trying to find out. I don't think I missed anything.", Twilight said as she scrutinized the book. Loud, frantic bangs assailed the cottage door from the outside. Twilight opened it to see an exhausted Pinkie Pie gasping at the door. "Twilight! You've got to do something! It's coming this way!!", her friend shouted. "What's coming this way?", Twilight asked as Pinkie entered, dashed over to the fireplace and stuck her head in the chimney. The floor beneath Twilight's hooves shook. The walls of her tree cottage vibrated and a couple loose books were knocked from the shelves. Spike watched the glass of water on the stand as shockwaves rippled through its contents. "Pinkie? What is coming this way?", Twilight asked again. Pinkie Pie returned from the fireplace wearing a green combat helmet she clearly had not entered with and carrying wedges of cheese in her hooves. "It's coming this way! A giant, pony-crushing MONSTER! AND WE DON'T HAVE ENOUGH CHEESE!", Pinkie yelled. The shockwaves continued, Twilight's furniture began to jump. Spike, Pinkie and Twilight huddled in the center of the room and closed their eyes. The entire cottage grew dark as the sunlight was blocked by an enormous shadow. The shockwaves stopped abruptly. The inside of Twilight's house became silent. The group opened their eyes. "Is... is it gone?", Spike asked in a hushed tone. "O-o-one of us should go ch-check.", Pinkie pie whispered. "We should all go check together.", Twilight said. "Good idea! Spike, you go check and if it's safe, Twilight will go check and if you're both still alive, I'll go home!", Pinkie Pie answered. Twilight rolled her eyes. "Come on Pinkie let's just go!", she said, pushing both her friends towards the window. They each peeked outside. The coast was clear and they all sighed with relief. "Wha-what kind of m-m-m-m-monster is it P-P-Pinkie?", Spike asked, both his body and voice shivering in fear. "Mmm! M-hmmm-mm-mmff-mm! Mmm-m", Pinkie Pie mumbled incoherently with a mouth full of cheese. "Well, whatever it is, it seems to be gone now.", Twilight said, turning away from the window. Pinkie Pie's eyes went wide and she started choking on cheese. "What's wrong Pinkie?", Twilight asked. Pinkie pointed out the window. Twilight turned back to see an enormous eye staring back at her. "AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!", she screamed and used her magic to lower the curtain. Spike and Pinkie both retreated behind furniture. "Twilight? Um, are you busy?", the voice of Fluttershy asked. "Fluttershy? Where are you?", Twilight asked her friend. "FLUTTERSHY! BE CAREFUL; THERE'S A MONSTER THAT LOOKS LIKE YOU OUTSIDE!", Pinkie yelled. "There's a monster outside?!", the walls of Twilight's cottage shook again and the furniture jumped. "If there's a monster out there, we have to go help her!", Twilight declared. "WAIT!", Pinkie screamed. "Us this! It will protect you!", Pinkie hoofed Twilight a wedge of cheese. "How will this help Pinkie?", Twilight asked, puzzled at the dairy product Pinkie bestowed upon her. "If you're in danger, use the cheese!", was Pinkie's only answer. Twilight nodded and took the cheese. She knew better not to ask anything more. She'd learned long ago not to doubt her hyper pink friend, especially when the strange was involved. Twilight opened the door and looked out side, a wedge of cheese in her raised hoof. A giant shadow was cast over Twilight's treehouse. She stepped outside and stopped immediately as her eyes spotted a pair of huge yellow hooves. Twilight's jaw dropped as she looked up at the familiar eyes of her shy pegasus friend, now a giant towering over her. "Hi Twilight.", the soft voice of Fluttershy said. "Fluttershy?! What happened to you?!", Twilight asked, dropping the cheese and walking over. "I... I don't know. I was up in Cloudsdale buying some Airbush seeds for my new garden, I need to plant some new bushes for my fifty new trees and-", "We ain't givin you no fiddy trees ya Celestia-cursed Large-ness monsta! Get your own trees!", Pinkie Pie yelled as she charged outside and started throwing cheese at Fluttershy. Fluttershy flinched at the dairy projectiles but they bounced harmlessly off her hooves. "Pinkie stop it!", Twilight demanded. "GIVE BACK FLUTTERSHY YOU GIANT BEAST!", Pinkie shouted and chucked more cheese at the 'beast'. Twilight used her magic to halt the cheese barrage in mid air. "Fluttershy, how did you get so... so big?", Twilight asked. "I really don't know Twilight. I saw this purple light as I was flying to Ponyville and when I landed, everything was so little!", Fluttershy said. "Purple light... oh no, the Sizing Spell I just cast! Something must've gone wrong with it!", Twilight said with a hoof to her mouth. "It looks like it worked fine Twilight. Maybe your aim was just off.", Spike suggested, surveying the scene. "When will you unicorns learn to stop disrupting the delicate balance of nature?! WHAT HAS MAGIC DONE?!!", Pinkie Pie shouted, dropping onto her knees and pounding a forehoof into the ground in an overt display of drama. "Wait, if it's just my spell that made you giant, I should be able to reverse it easily!", Twilight said. "Really?", Fluttershy asked with hope in her delicate voice. "It will be no problem!", Twilight assured her confidently. She then turned around and went inside. After only a moment, she returned with a spell book levitated above her in a magical grip. She reviewed a page and then closed it, satisfied that this would be a simple task. She spread her legs out, steadying her self on the ground. Fluttershy instictively raised her hooves in nervous anticipation. Twilight closed her eyes and focused. Her horn glowed with a bright magenta aura and then released a ray of light and energy. The light struck Fluttershy and for a moment the giant pegasus also glowed with the same magenta aura. Fluttershy closed her eyes as she was engulfed by the magical ray. The aura dissipated quickly though and Fluttershy remained the same large size as before. Twilight opened her eyes. "Huh? This isn't possible! That should've worked!", the unicorn said in frustration. She opened her book again and reviewed it again. "Okay, I think I've got it!", Twilight said. She gritted her teeth and blasted Fluttershy again with the spell. Again, nothing. "This doesn't make any sense!", Twilight yelled in denial. She flipped through the pages of her book again. "Why is it not working?!" Twilight blasted Fluttershy again without warning. Still, her friend remained unchanged. Twilight zapped her again and again, the background of Ponyville began to light up with a magenta hue. > Big Ego > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight Sparkle continued blasting Fluttershy with magic. She changed the spell each time apparently because each ray did something different to Fluttershy. Fluttershy's legs quivered as she was forced to endure the magical barrage. Twilight tried every trick in the book, quite literally. She would flip a page, quickly read, charge a new spell and then launch it at the giant yellow pegasus. One spell made her mane grow down to the ground, another blast gave her a pink moustache and another made her feel like she had scales for a moment... like she was a dragon or something. These random sensations didn't last more than a moment though and soon Twilight collapsed in a heap, exhausted by the expenditure of energy. Fluttershy was actually slightly relieved that her friend was too tired to continue for the moment. She exhaled the breath she'd been holding in hoping that none of them noticed. "I... don't... get it.", Twilight said, panting. Pinkie pie and Spike had retreated inside the house. They watched from the doorway quietly; it was best not to disturb Twilight when she was... driven to do something. "Why is nothing working?!", Twilight asked through gritted teeth. "Um, Twilight maybe we could-", Fluttershy tried to begin only to be interrupted by Twilight rambling in frustration. "I tried everything! Every trick in the book and still it nothing works!" "Twilight, I was thinking..." "Every other spell works but this one and it won't reverse!" "Twilight, I think that if we-", Fluttershy was cutoff again. Despite her size, her timid nature continued to lead her to be ignored by Twilight who was deep in some sort of frantic, private discussion with herself, her knowledge of magic and the universe around them. "Maybe we should ask the princess!", Spike suggested. Fluttershy nodded; this was exactly what she was going to recommend. "Princess Celestia?! No, no! She can never know this! If she found out I couldn't perform a simple sizing spell she'll take me back to Canterlot, make me take remedial magic classes, she'll-", Twilight panicked. Her friends understood that Twilight was just like this from time to time, especially when the princess was involved. It was best to seek alternatives. "Well, who else knows a lot about magic?", Spike asked in as innocent a voice as he could manage. "What's something else that's small that grows really big?", Pinkie thought aloud, her mind already outside the box and in the right direction. "Seeds?", Flutterhsy suggests. "Somepony who knows a lot about seeds, plants, trees!", Pinkie followed her idea. "I think I know where you're going Pinkie. We should ask Appl-" "Rarity! That's a great idea Twilight! I'll go get her!", Pinkie Pie said, interrupting Twilight and galloping off in the direction of Rarity's house. "Wait! Pinkie, what is Rarity going to- and she's gone.", Twilight said in a defeated tone. "Maybe we should go see Applejack and-", Spike tried to ask. "Stand back citizens of Ponyville! The GREAT and POWERFUL Trixie shall vanquish the beast!", announced Trixie as she walked over to Twilight's house, horn glowing. Trixie launched a spell at Fluttershy aimed right for her head. Fluttershy crouched down, closed her eyes and covered her head with her hooves. She just narrowly avoided the blast as the ray soared over her and into the distance. Trixie gritted her teeth, undaunted, her horn glowed again as she prepared to cast another spell. "Trixie no!", Twilight yelled. Trixie aimed at the cowering Fluttershy and unleashed another magical blast. The spell would've been unavoidable but Twilight blocked it with a spell of her own. Both spells collided in the air creating an explosion that scorched the ground with bright purple fire and pale blue smoke. "What are you doing Twilight Sparkle? This beast destroyed the market place! You should be helping Trixie destroy this menace!", Trixie said as she charged another spell. "Trixie it's not a monster! It's really Fluttershy!", Twilight shouted, trying to stop Trixie. "Trixie saw this creature destroy half of town on the way here! Clearly Twilight Sparkle is confused!", Trixie said as she fired another ray of magic. Fluttershy continued to cower behind Twilight. She shivered and covered her eyes with her hooves, her quivering body making the ground shake slightly. "Stop it Trixie!", Twilight said as she intercepted another beam with one of her own spells. Sweat poured down Twilight's face. She'd been exhausted trying to use her own magic to fix Fluttershy, she didn't have much energy left to keep countering Trixie's spells. She had to get Trixie to see reason, not an easy task despite the fact they'd become friends recently. "What is Twilight Sparkle doing?", Trixie demanded. "Trixie, this is Fluttershy! She's just... somehow become giant.", Twilight explained. Trixie's horn stopped glowing. "Giant? How exactly did Twilight's friend become a giant monster?" "I... was experimenting with a new spell..." Twilight began, humiliation crossing her face. "The Seismic Size Spell. The spell was supposed to change the size of things, make things bigger. So, we tried it on a glass of water. But..." Spike continued. "I may have missed and hit Fluttershy." Twilight finally admitted. "Mffff-ahahahahahahaha! Twilight Sparkle MISSED? Not even a moving target? Trixie can hardly... Trixie can...ffffffahahahaha!!", Trixie laughed out loud. Spike put his palm to his face. Twilight glared at Trixie and blushed slightly. How could she have missed? Really, how COULD she have missed? Point-blank range, she could've sworn she'd hit the glass and yet... here they were with a giant Fluttershy. The spell seemed to work, now it was just a matter of learning how to reverse it. Twilight made a mental note to make sure the curtains were drawn next time she experimented with a new spell. If there'd be a next time. "I'm sorry... Trixie just cannot believe... something like this could happen.", Trixie said, stifling another laugh. Twilight and Trixie had only recently got on good terms with each other, Trixie's attitude still took some getting used to. Trixie was a very proud unicorn and like Twilight had a talent for magic. Her pride made her arrogant though, something that Twilight had dealt with on at least two seperate occassions already. It was hard for her not to see herself as better than every other pony but slowly she was beginning to understand the concept of equality. It couldn't happen soon enough for Twilight. "So the great beast is really Twilight's friend Fluttershy?", Trixie asked, another laugh rising in her voice and ruining her composure. "Yes. The Seismic Size Spell must've flown out the window and hit Fluttershy.", Twilight said. Fluttershy nodded behind her. "Hmm. Let Trixie see the details of this spell.", Trixie said as she walked over to Twilight. Twilight levitated the book in front of both of them and turned to the page of the spell in question. All spells have a way of reversing their effects, usually by reversing the spell itself. But for some reason, reversing this spell had yeilded no results. "I've tried the reversing the spell, minimilization spells, everything. Fluttershy's still giant for some reason.", Twilight said. "Well, it seems that the Seismic Size Spell is a bit stronger magic than Twilight Sparkle is used to.", Trixie concluded as she looked over the spell. Twilight frowned. Magic was her field of expertise and her knowledge of the subject was extensive. She worked hard at what she did and practiced often. Under the tutelage of Princess Celestia, she aspired to master magic as a unicorn sorceress. Trixie and Twilight had fought using magic before and being criticiszed by her former rival hurt Twilight's confidence. But there seemed to be no other explanation. This incident only demonstrated to Twilight that she still had much to learn. Trixie glanced over to see Twilight frowning with her eyes to the ground. "Um, perhaps if we combined our magic? Both of us cast the spell in reverse at the same time?", Trixie suggested, noticing the discouraged Twilight. "It's worth a try.", Twilight said looking up. She was relieved that finally she was trying to do something helpful. Both unicorns stood apart from each other and faced Fluttershy. Spike closed the door of Twilight's cottage and watched from the window with one of Pinkie's spontaneously conjured combat helmets. Fluttershy's legs started shaking again as she was about to be subjected to more magical experimentation. Both of the unicorns' horns began to glow as they prepared to cast the spell in reverse. "Oh dear heavens is that really Fluttershy?", a voice asked from behind both of them. Both Twilight and Trixie turned to face whoever had spoke, a moment too soon. Their spells launched into the air and collided with each other but instead of creating another explosion, they combined into one beam and flew off into the distance. "You're not supposed to cross the streams!", Pinkie Pie said as she and Rarity approached the scene. > Big Debate > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight and Trixie turned back around to watch their combined super spell vanish into the distance. Trixie gritted her teeth and then turned to face Pinkie Pie and Rarity as they approached Twilight's house. Pinkie had donned her combat helmet yet again and was carrying more cheese in her hooves. Twilight quirked an eyebrow at Pinkie. There always seemed to be some sort of method to Pinkie's madness but deciphering the reasoning behind her methods was something Twilight knew not to try to do again. This didn't stop her wondering, especially when she noticed patterns. The question she knew she shouldn't ask ached at her, What is with the cheese? She didn't get the chance to ask the question as Trixie snarled at the approaching ponies making them stop in their tracks. "How dare you both interrupt the GREAT and POWERFUL Trixie as she attempts to save Ponyville from the giant monster!", Trixie glared at both of them in pure rage. "Trixie...", Twilight said. Trixie turned to Twilight who shook her head in a way that said both "You're going overboard" and "Calm down before I make you calm". This was no time to deal with Trixie's ego. As Pinkie had said, she had brought Rarity to them apparently under the assumption that she somehow could help remedy their situation. Exactly how their fashion-designing unicorn friend could help, Twilight had no idea. So long as Princess Celestia wasn't informed of the situation, she could care less. "Fluttershy? Is that really you?", Rarity asked, shielding her eyes from the sun with a hoof as she careened her neck and looked up at the enormous pegasus. Fluttershy said nothing, she just nodded down at her tiny friend. "Well, Pinkie tells me it was Twilight's magic that made you this big and that she's tried every spell to get you back to normal and nothing's worked.", Rarity stated. Twilight, Pinkie and Fluttershy nodded solemnly in confirmation of her summary of the events thus far. Trixie recomposed herself and nodded as well. "It just so happens I do know a little about sizing spells, having had to do some tailoring and all. They're not all that complicated but mistakes like these have been known to happen, though never to this degree to my knowledge.", Rarity said. Twilight perked up when Rarity said she had knowledge about sizing spells. Maybe she could help them after all! "This is obviously a bit more complicated than simply changing your dress size. Trixie and Twilight were about to try combining magic before you interrupted.", Trixie practically scoffed at the idea of using the dressmaker's magic to fix Fluttershy. Rarity smiled at Trixie, hiding the fact that her patience was being tested and trying to encourage a little more cooperation. "Trixie, my magic is not just specific to dressmaking and I believe I may be able to-" "Come Twilight Sparkle, let us attempt again. Without interruptions this time.", Trixie cut Rarity off mid-sentence and turned away from her. Pinkie silently ate cheese as she watched the display. Fluttershy looked around for Spike. Maybe he could send a letter to the princess from Fluttershy and they could just avoid even mentioning Twilight, or anypony else for that matter. Unfortunately, it looked like more magical experimentation was unavoidable now as Rarity's eyes narrowed at Trixie. "Excuse me Trixie but what exactly are you insinuating?", Rarity asked, the slightest annoyance in her voice gave the clear indication of rage boiling beneath the unicorn's surface being held back by her own force of will alone. Trixie turned back to her, her eyelids shut in one of the snootiest manners ever conveyed in Ponyville. "Trixie thinks that she and Twilight are more 'suited' to the task than a simple cothes pony.", Trixie said. Twilight's eyes went wide. Pinkie's mouth stopped chewing and Fluttershy's mouth opened involuntarily, her jaw now agape as she heard the exchange. "Simple... clothes... pony?!", Rarity blinked with each word she repeated, overcome with anger at being so clearly insulted. "Do you have ANY idea HOW meticulous a fashion designer has to be with their magic?! How much effort goes into making each dress? Have you ANY IDEA what I had to learn to get where I am today?!!", Rarity shouted at Trixie and marched toward the blue unicorn. "Rarity, please we really don't have time to-", Twilight tried to calm her friend down to no avail. "If you call working with those rags magic. I doubt you could master a single spell in this book.", Trixie fired back, levitating Twilight's spell book up at her. "Give me that book!! I'll show you I know what I'm talking about!!", Rarity grabbed the book with her own magic and tried wresting it from Trixie but Trixie's own magical glow held the book firm overhead, they tugged back and fourth with their magic, neither willing to let go. "Stop fighting! This isn't helping anypony!", Twilight said and used her own magic to grab hold of the book. The book glowed in midair with three different colored auras from the effects of each unicorn's magic. It flew around in a circle being tugged back and fourth. Pinkie started talking and pointing at the display but nopony could understand her with her mouth being full of cheese. She pointed at the book as it flattened out and spun. Fluttershy almost got dizzy watching the display; from her distance, it seemed as though the three were playing frisbee with the book. Inevitably, the book ripped into three individual pieces. "See what you did?", Trixie accused Rarity of breaking the book. The pieces of the book fell to the ground. Twilight's mouth was agape as she hovered all three pieces over to her and tried to assemble them in midair. She was shocked, her first instinct was to try to see if it could be repaired to a legible state somehow but part of knew that was impossible now. Rarity and Trixie continued to argue as Twilight stared at the torn pages in horror. She started breathing heavily. Pinkie walked over quietly to join her. Pinkie's own face conveyed a sad sympathy and she held out a wedge of cheese to her friend. Twilight was too shocked to acknowledge the dairy offering. The pieces of the book hit the ground with three papery thuds. Rarity and Trixie's voices were getting loud now, they argued about different forms of magic, different spells, different books, Fluttershy watched the pieces of the book in pieces on the ground and Twilight at a loss for words. The pegasus' eyes began to water. Her sensitive heart couldn't take seeing her friends in such pain, such anger. She closed her eyes as the tears began to stream down her face, kicked off the ground and began flying high into the sky as quickly as she could. Hopefully she hadn't caused any more damage. Tears fell off her body and she hoped they didn't hit anypony down below. She didn't know where to go or what to do, she just flew. Small parts of Ponyville experienced a slight amount of unexpected rain but nopony was injured by the large drops that fell from the sky. > Big Surprise > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Spike watched Fluttershy fly away from the window of Twilight's house. He'd retreated further inside shortly before the argument between the three unicorns began. Unbeknownst to his pony friends, Spike had taken it upon himself to send a letter to Princess Celestia. He'd done his best to make Twilight look good but worried how she would react. He didn't plan on telling any of them until recieving a letter back but as he watched Fluttershy climb higher into the sky, he worried that it may be too late. He opened the door quietly and stepped outside. Rarity and Trixie were continuing to argue and Pinkie was busy trying to console Twilight who sat on the ground, mouth agape with her book of spells torn into three large pieces in front of her. Spike walked over to his purple unicorn friend. "I'm so sorry Twilight. I, uh, I know that book was-", "That book was over a thousand years old.", Twilight stated, deadpan. "That book was entrusted to me by the princess. She gave it to me the last time she came to Ponyville. She told me I was ready.", Twilight explained. "Fine! If Twilight Sparkle's enormous monster friend wants to remain that way forever than so be it! But if she dares attack Ponyville again, she'll have to deal with the GREAT and POWERFUL Trixie!!", Trixie shouted loud enough for all to hear. A cloud of blue smoke engulfed Trixie's form momentarily obscuring her from sight. It disappated a moment too soon though and Twilight, Rarity, Pinkie and Spike watched the blue unicorn gallop away. She stepped in a wedge of Pinkie's cheese as she departed, an orange blob flattened on the bottom of her front right hoof. "Well, she was a lot of help.", Pinkie said, continuing to eat cheese. "Where did Fluttershy go?", Rarity asked, looking around. "She flew away.", Twilight said, still sitting and staring into the distance. "What are we going to do now?", Rarity asked Twilight. "Maybe, mfff timf to tell Princeff Celeftia.", Pinkie said between mouthfuls. Twilight looked almost on the verge of tears herself at her pink friend. She didn't want to have failed her mentor but it looked as though there were no other options. Little did they know... "I kinda already sent a letter to the princess.", Spike admitted, scratching a claw behind is neck. Twilight's ear twitched once. "Hmm hmm.... hmm ha... ah ha ha ha ha HA HA HA!!", Twilight giggled and then brokedown into a fullblown stressed and semi-psychotic laugh. She threw her forelegs into the air and fell down to the ground, rolling and laughing almost manically. Pinkie started laughing with Twilight nervously. She looked to Spike and Rarity for a reaction. "So, do you think the princess will respond soon Spike?", Rarity asked, doing her best to ignore their friend rolling on the ground behind her. "I hope so.", was Spike's only response as he looked to the sky. "She'll know a way to get Fluttershy back to normal no problem!", Pinkie said confidently. "Maybe she'll come here herself. She could be on her way right n-", Pinkie began. As she did, Twilight teleported back inside her house. "Do you think she's going to be okay?", Rarity asked. "Depends. Do you know a spell that can get Twilight back to normal?", Spike asked. "Good point.", Rarity said. The three of them entered Twilight's house without another word. Fluttershy sobbed as she flew in the direction of Canterlot, or at least what she hoped was the direction of Canterlot. She carefully peered through the clouds as she soared; one wrong move and she could fly through Cloudsdale. She hoped she didn't hurt anypony, anything but she had to find a way to fix this. It was almost time to feed the animals she cared for. The clouds grew dark grey as she continued to fly in the direction of the castle. Despite her large size, the clouds still appeared normal. She was thankful for that. She soon stopped crying as she flew. Something off to the side caught her eye: a strangely colored cloud. When she reversed and flew back to check, it seemed to have disappeared amongst the others. Was she seeing things now? She shook her head and continued on. "Hm Hm Hm Hm...", a voice chuckled. Fluttershy slowed down to listen. Was somepony following her? The voice almost sounded familiar. "My, my Fluttershy. You certainly make a BIG impression nowadays.", the voice said. She recognized it immediately after it spoke but didn't think it could be possible. "Who is that? Who's there?!", Fluttershy asked as she looked around the clouds at her. They were all grey now and seemed to be surrounding her. She turned around and saw that the path behind her was blocked by clouds too. She was trapped in a cloud bank. She couldn't even see back where she had came. The clouds changed color one by one all around her, slowly turning from dark grey to a strange and decidedly chaotic bright pink. "You haven't forgotten me now have you Fluttershy?", Discord the draconequus asked as one of the clouds turned to show him lounging on it. "Discord! What are you doing here?", Fluttershy asked the fiend, backing away but still trying to show some amount of bravado. "Oh, I'm just having a 'little' fun. Seems all the chaos you caused in the market place weakened my bindings yet again. Then, I was struck by some sort of strange beam of magic. I found myself in a giant Canterlot temporarily before I found that I'd been hit by some sort of enhanced sizing spell. Quite the silly thing don't you think? I had no problem returning myself to normal size with my own magic.", Discord said standing up on the cloud. "You... you were hit by a magic beam?", Fluttershy asked, remembering Twilight and Trixie combining their magic. "Oh yes, quite the strange turn of events don't you think? Looks to me like somepony's running amok with sizing spells all over Ponyville!", Discord said, teleporting himself inside Fluttershy's mane and poking his head out. She shook her head and he teleported again, this time right next to her left ear. "What's the matter Fluttergiant? Not having fun being so huge?", Discord asked in a whisper. Fluttershy tossed her head forward and Discord flew into a cloud in front of her, landing upside down. He shook his own head, momentarily dizzy. Fluttershy moved through the pink clouds, some of them sticking to her. She shook them off and pushed on, ignoring Discord. "Wait! You know I have magic of my own! I can help you!", Discord called. Fluttershy turned back towards Discord. "You... you can?", Fluttershy asked. She quirked an eyebrow at the draconequus, still stuck to his own cloud. Discord once ruled Equestria in a state of chaos before Princess Celestia and Princess Luna defeated him. Fluttershy, Twilight and their friends had dealt with him before themselves and she was leary of his motives. "Yes! It's more than simple enough to fix you! Please... let me help.", Discord put on a smile that seemed all too sweet. Fluttershy frowned and turned away. "No thanks. I think I'll just go see Princess Celestia.", Fluttershy said, flying off again. "Celestia, oh of course she'd be able to help but I mean, what about me? I'm so sorry for what happened last time what with turning Ponyville upside down and everything. Let me make it up to you.", Discord pleaded. "It's fine Discord, I'm just going to see the princess but thank you for offering.", Fluttershy rejected him as she continued to fly. "But surely there's something I could do to make amends!", Discord offered again. "If you like, you could show me to Canterlot.", Fluttershy suggested in her own sweet tone as she turned to face him. Discord wiped his face with his claw. This was getting nowhere. "Well, that's just, I mean to say that is, that I-", he stammered. "Pleeeeeeeeeeeasse?", Fluttershy asked, her eyes becoming large and cute. "I... uh,... I, ugh. Bleh. Enough." Discord said. He pushed the thumb of his claw to Fluttershy's forehead. Her eyes swirled and her mouth opened in surprise. Her yellow color drained from her body, the pink faded from her mane and soon she became as dull grey as the clouds around her. "Sometimes we all need a 'little' gentle encouragement.", Discord said. He'd had difficulty the first time he deharmonized Fluttershy. He was relieved that his magic still worked on her now that she was this size. Fluttershy's kind features disappeared being replaced with narrowed eyes and a scowl. He smiled now that the transformation was complete. "Now, who wants to see boring old Celestia? Why don't we go back to Ponyville and see your friends?", Discord suggested with a sly grin. "What friends? Friends who all they do is argue when you have a problem when they could be trying to help?", Fluttershy asked angrily. He'd deharmonized Fluttershy and her friends before, changing their natures into the polar opposites of their normal personalities. Just as now, Fluttershy demonstrated the same cruelty that replaced her kindness that time before. "Oooh. I like it. So what are we going to do about them Miss Fluttershy?", Discord asked the now deharmonized Fluttershy. "Who cares?! I'm going to Cloudsdale to get new seeds for my garden seeing as how Twilight's foolishness cost me my old ones!", Fluttershy turned around and headed back in the direction she'd came. "You're just going to go plant some seeds?", Discord asked, a little discouraged that she wasn't planning on pursuing a more violent course of action. "Yeah. You got a problem with that?!", Fluttershy asked, turning to Discord and glaring at him. His eyes went wide and he leaned back. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all. The idea of turning Fluttershy into a rampaging monster and then setting her upon all of Equestria had been a great idea but now Discord was beginning to wonder exactly how he was going to control such a creature? For a split second, he thought about going to Princess Celestia before he noticed Fluttershy was getting ahead of him. He followed behind at what he hoped was a safe distance. > Big Trouble > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fluttershy had taken her change in attitude just as easily as she had the first time. Wether she intentionally or unintentionally embraced her new cruel nature, it was impossible to tell. Deharmonization was a strange process; Fluttershy's memories were still intact, only her outlook had changed. She remembered how Twilight, Spike, Pinkie Pie, Rarity and even Trixie had tried to help her. Before, she'd been happy that she had such wonderful friends that had tried to help her and she was forgiving and acceptant of the mistakes they'd made. She'd believed that if they worked together and stayed optimistic, they would find a way to get her back to normal size. Fluttershy had only left them becuase she believed that it was time to involve Princess Celestia as they were only arguing and weren't making any progress. But originally, she was happy that her friends were there to help and support her. Now, Fluttershy thought of those ponies as incompetent fools who's blundering had only served to waste her time. Experimenting with magic. It was because of Twilight's "experimenting" that she was in this situation in the first place! They should've gone to Princess Celestia the moment the spell wouldn't reverse. Instead, they'd involved the GREAT and ARROGANT Trixie to come and join the fun. Panicking Pinkie Pie and her cheese chucking had certainly been helpful, Fluttershy thought sarcastically. Spike and his normal uselessness hadn't done anything either when HE could've mailed the princess himself! And why had Rarity been there? What was a unicorn dressmaker with almost NO fashion sense going to do? She didn't even know the value of French haute couture. And they expected this glorified tailor with bad taste to know something about magic?! Those simple-minded, incompetent fools! Oh, and Discord was now free because of her 'friends' combined foolishness. That didn't bother her so long as he stayed away from her house. Fluttershy looked back on her plan to involve Princess Celestia but now... nah. She wouldn't waste any more time with a ruler who just sat on her flank and ran to Twilight whenever there was a real problem. No, she'd deal with her new situation her own way. Maybe this was the perfect opportunity to do some landscaping around her house, Fluttershy thought. Maybe Ponyville could use a little more 'remodeling' too. A sinister smile spread across her face as she flew towards Cloudsdale. She'd pick up some new seeds and then see where things went from there, they'd all see. Behind her, a nervous Discord followed her quietly. Discord was curious to see what would become of Ponyville. Perhaps with a little more gentle encouragement Fluttershy could be persuaded to pay a visit to Canterlot as well. He imagined himself commanding the giant pegasus and using her to crush all that opposed him, ruling Equestria once more in a state of chaotic bliss. He'd just have to be a tad more mindful of her attitude combined with her size until he found a way to control her. Fluttershy broke through the layer of clouds and Discord smiled as he gazed upon Ponyville again. Fluttershy stopped and looked around. She immediately realized a problem: compared to her, Cloudsdale was tiny now too. So would be the seeds they sold. She could've flown through Cloudsdale on the way here and probably wouldn't even have noticed it. She thought of a solution and turned to Discord. "You. Make me normal-size again. Now.", Fluttershy demanded. Discord said that he'd been shrunk when he'd been released, the result of Twilight and Trixie's combined reversal spell and had been used his own magic to return himself to normal size. So he could do the same to her. Discord grinned. "Noticing a little problem are we?", he asked coyly. He had her right where he wanted her. "Now!", Fluttershy shouted at him, moving closer to him in a threatening way. Discord moved back but stayed his ground and folded his arms. "I'll make you a deal Fluttershy. We have a little 'fun' with Ponyville and I'll change you back to normal.", Discord offered. This was it! Soon, he'd have revenge on Ponyville! And with Fluttershy deharmonized, they wouldn't be able to use the Elements of Harmony and wouldn't be able to seal him back in stone! The plan was perfect! Today Ponyville, tomorrow Equestria! Fluttershy frowned at him. "No thanks.", was her curt reply. She turned back around and whipped Discord with her tail, smacking him through a layer of clouds. Fluttershy was smarter than to trust Discord for more than a few seconds. She knew his 'requests' wouldn't stop with Ponyville and soon she'd be following Discord all over Equestria doing his bidding. So she'd go back to Twilight now and if they couldn't solve her problem this time... then Canterlot. She could've probably saved some time and just gone to Canterlot but hadn't realized that her new size meant she couldn't get back to her garden. So now she was mad at herself and reluctantly would try to save herself the flight to Canterlot by seeing if the incompetents could help her again. She flew towards Twilight's house. "Okay! It looks pretty much the same... right?", Twilight held levitated the book in front of her and let her friends examine her handiwork as they walked to Fluttershy's house. They'd decided that her house near the Everfree Forest was a good place to wait for her since she went there whenever she was feeling depressed. Despite her giant size, they knew she would still want to care for her animals. "It... it looks great Twilight!", Rarity said through a pained-looking smile. Twilight smiled back triumphantly. The book itself was held together with all manner of scrap tape, a bandage and a couple nails. It was unlikely it was even legible any more. Spike forced on a smile too. Pinkie Pie twisted head at it as she continued to munch cheese. She now walked upright and carried the cheese in her combat helmet as they walked. Twilight's mood had improved a bit but she was still concerned about what the princess might say. Hopefully, Fluttershy whould be at her house and she could reverse the spell and everything would go back to normal before Princess Celestia even got there. They could even pretend the letter was a joke and everything had been just a big misunderstanding. Emphasis on big. It only took them a few minutes to reach Fluttershy's house. They called out to her as they approached her cottage. "Fluttershy! Where are you? Trixie's gone and we're not fighting!", Twilight yelled. Pinkie Pie opened the door to Fluttershy's cottage. "Fluttershy?! You in here?!", she shouted inside. "Pinkie, she wouldn't be able to fit inside her house.", Twilight told Pinkie. "How do you know that? Maybe we're all giant right now and Equestria is small around us except for this one spot!", Pinkie said. "I think somepony's had a little too much cheese.", Twilight said back with a smile. "Well, if she's not here, then where is she?", Rarity asked. Meanwhile, across town... "Yoo-hoo? Twilight?! Guess who's back?", Fluttershy announced as she arrived. She looked around Twilight's tree house and inside the windows. "Spike? Pinkie? SAY SOMETHING!!", she yelled at the building, making it shake slightly. Discord knocked on the door and then passed right through it like it wasn't even there. He emerged from a window. "Doesn't look they're here.", Discord said. Fluttershy grasped the house with both her hooves and uprooted it like it was a shrub. "GET OUT HERE!!", Fluttershy shouted as she shook the house. Owlowicious flew out an open window and off into the distance. Discord screamed as he fell out another window and hit the ground. Furniture, books and Twilight's other things rained upon Discord who did his best to evade the falling debris. An armoir landed directly on him, Discord stepped out wearing a hat and glasses. Fluttershy peered through a window again before finally discarding the tree like it was a weed she'd pulled out of her own garden. Discord watched Owlowicious fly away. "It looks like they've... flown the coop.", Discord said as he removed the glasses. "Yeah. Guess I'm gonna have to go find them.", Fluttershy said, not noticing the small owl. She tromped off into Ponyville. Discord grinned and rubbed his claws together. Things were about to get interesting. Sugar Cube Corner shook as Fluttershy approached. Unlike her trip through the market place, Fluttershy now demonstrated a total disregard for personal property as she smashed carts, stalls and anything else that got in her way as she made her way into the square. Ponies screamed and ran in terror as she approached. Two stallions reading on a park bench looked up and jumped out of the way to avoid being crushed underneath a giant grey hoof. The bench they'd been sitting on disintegrated as they fled. A mare eating a sandwich at the table of an outdoor cafe abandoned her meal when she saw the giant grey pegasus coming. Fluttershy stomped the tables of the corner bistro into splinters instantly as she passed by. "Twilight?! Rarity?! Pinkie?! Anypony that knows anything about magic?!", Fluttershy shouted in the middle of the ravaged Sugar Cube Corner. Her tail brushed off the overhanging part of a roof sending shingles flying everywhere. She stomped a hoof into the ground making the glass windows of a building nearby shatter and a door come off its hinges. "...Trixie?", she reluctantly called out, her voice almost a whisper. What was she thinking? What would Trixie do to help? Nopony answered her. She looked back behind her at the wreckage. Discord was delighting in the mayhem, picking through the debris. Fluttershy noticed a ruined bench off to her side. A rabbit and a couple squirrels were hiding underneath it, cowering in fear. Fear of her. She looked into their eyes and then down at her own hooves. She was responsible for this. She was responsible for all of this. Something tugged at her heart, the feeling of sorrow. How could she have caused all this destruction? She'd put so many creatures and ponies in harm's way... just for being in her way. Tears streamed down her cheeks and hit the ground. "It's okay little critters! I... I'm sorry.", Fluttershy said to the hiding animals. She got down as low as she possibly could and looked under the bench at them. They looked back at her, shivering at first but slowly they made their way out and over to the giant pegasus. She'd always had a way with animals and that shone through now, despite her size. They approached her hooves and gave the edge of her grey legs a hug. Slowly, her yellow color returned and she closed her eyes and smiled in the comfort of animals. Her rampage was over. "Did somepony call the GREAT and POWERFUL Trixie?!", the blue unicorn shouted from around a corner. > Big Fight > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Is that Owlowicious?", Spike asked, noticing Twilight's owl flying towards them. "What is Owlowicious doing here?", Twilight asked. They gathered around the small bird who looked as though he'd been flying in a hurry and was exhausted. He panted several hoots before catching his breath. "What is it Owlowicious? Why aren't you back home?", Twilight asked. The owl hooted three times in response drawing puzzled looks from the ponies. "It's all right ladies! I've been practicing learning Owlowicious's language!", Spike said triumphantly. "Owlowicious, what are you doing here?", Spike asked the owl. The owl hooted a lengthy series of hoos. "Uh huh, uh huh, uh huh...really? uh huh...", Spike said as he listened. Owlowicious gestured with his wings and made motions resembling a giant winged monster causing destruction in a small town. He ended abruptly and blinked with one last hoot. "Very interesting.", Spike remarked, put his claw to his chin and thinking. "What did he say Spike?", Twilight asked. "I have no idea.", Spike replied. "Spike!", the others shouted at him. "I thought you said you could understand him!", Twilight accused her assistant. "I can! I know when he's talking to someone and he asks "who"! But that's really all he's ever told me! He just keeps asking "who" over and over!", Spike answered. Twilight put a hoof to her face. "Spike, he's an owl. All he can say is "who".", she explained. "Oh...", Spike said, the realization dawning on him. "I think we should head back to Ponyville and find out.", Twilight said. The small owl nodded. Meanwhile, at what's left of Sugarcube Corner... "What is all this? What have you done?!", Trixie asked, exasperated at lay before her. Fluttershy glanced over her shoulder. The road was trampled, buildings on either side in almost ruined states. Broken glass, twisted signs and debris of all kinds littered the street. Fluttershy couldn't believe she'd done all that. Amongst the ruins, Discord rearranged various pieces of wreckage into small statues of himself. "Twilight's friend has lost control! I told you if you returned you'd have to deal with the GRRRRREAT and POWERFUL Trixie! Now I've got the magic power I need to vanquish such a large foe!", Trixie held up a black amulet with her hoof. "The Alicorn Amulet? Where did you get that?!", Discord asks from beside Fluttershy's head. "Trixie, that amulet you must return! I was sure this was a lesson you'd already learned!", Zecora said as she trotted from behind a building. "How did she find the Alicorn Amulet?!", Fluttershy asked Zecora. "I know that Trixie is quite clever but I didn't think she'd find it, no not ever. I placed the amulet in a place without light and still at the same time hidden in plain sight.", Zecora explained cryptically. "She hid it under a rock about two feet from her hut.", Trixie said. "You must not go snooping around my house anymore... because that is also where I keep the key to my front door.", Zecora admitted, a tad embarassed. "No matter. Recall that I am a changed and benovelent Trixie! I shall return this gem once I've subdued Twilight's monster friend!", Trixie explained. Zecora shook her head; there was no reasoning with her. "Excuse me ladies but perhaps we could be of assistance?", a voice called. A wooden machine appeared from behind and pulled right up to where Trixie and Zecora stood. I hissed steam and Trixie and Zecora stepped back. Both Fluttershy and discord cocked their heads at what they saw. The machine had three wheels on either side with a large parrallelogram shape in the center sloping downward to the front and upward in the back where an engine was carried. On top and near the back was mounted what looked like a tree with two large wooden umbrellas sticking out near the top. The end of the 'tree' had six flagpole looking devices sticking out of it with another overturned umbrella in the center and a gaping hole inside of that. Towards the front of the vehicle before the slope was a small box with a narrow slot about the size of a mailbox opening in the front. The box flipped back revealing Flim and Flam sitting on a sofa with a control box in front of them. "For Ponyville's consideration, the world famous Flim Flam Brothers would like to showcase our latest creation: the Super Easy Catch-a-Beastie Six-thousand and One!", Flam announced. "What is this contraption?", Trixie asked as she disdainfully rose a hoof at the machine before her. "Why, the Super Easy Catch-a-Beastie 6001 is the premium solution to all giant monster problems from dragons to timberwolves and even Ursa Majors!", Flim elaborated. "That's a laugh. I bet this hunk of junk breaks the first time you use it!", Trixie scoffed. "Bet you say? Care to make a wager?", the brothers asked. "Please. Trixie shall subdue the giant and restore Ponyville with a single spell!", Trixie announced. "Oh, I'm sure you could but isn't your relationship with Ponyville a tad... tense right now?", Flim asked knowingly. "Ponyville is beset upon by problems of epic proportions quite frequently! What these ponies need is a permanent solution to their giant problems! What these ponies need is the Flim Flam Insurance Plan!", Flam declared. "Flim and Flam in a tank, Trixie with the amulet, how much worse can this situation get?", Zecora asked. "Flim and Flam's official insurance plan covers all manner of monster attacks for just the fractions of bits a day! But I can see you all want proof, so how about a little demonstration?", Flim said. The salespony brothers grinned and flipped a lever in front of them. The cannon mounted in the back lowered and aimed directly at Fluttershy. "In the generous nature you've come to expect from the Flim Flam Brothers, we'll now take care of your current monster problem free of charge!", Flam said. "Ready brother?", he asked. "Ready!", the other responded. Their horns glowed green and the two umbrella fixtures on top of the cannon began spinning. Fluttershy grabbed the animals at her feet and ran in the opposite direction. Discord hung in the air where she'd been standing. He sighed. "You do realize she heard everything you said right? There's no way she's going to-", Discord was about to finish explaining when the cannon fired. A giant blob of orange hurled through the air with incredible speed and hit Discord as he hovered. The blast carried him through the air all the way back to Twilight's uprooted house where he stuck to the ground, covered in cheese. The cheese hardened almost instantly trapping the villain underneath in a calcium-enriched prison. > Big Escape > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight Sparkle was beginning to understand what Owlowicious had tried to say when they arrived at her house, or rather, what was left of her house. Twilight's treehouse looked like it had been gutted. The tree lay on its side a few feet from a hole in the ground where it once stood. The balcony, windows and front door were all ruined, jarred at random angles and crushed from their own weight. Her furniture, books and things were scattered amongst leaves troughout the area. Spike took the spell book Twilight had repaired and placed it in a half-ruined bookshelf laying on its side near the tree. The bookshelf shook a moment and collapsed. Spike backed away slowly. For a good minute, Twilight stood in silent shock. Her mouth hung open and her lower-left eyelid quivered in an unblinking, mile-long stare. Rarity looked at the scene in sorrow, not sure of what to say. She put a hoof on Twilight's back to comfort her. "Do you think it Fluttershy could've done this?", Pinkie asked. She'd refilled her helmet with wedges of cheese on their way to Twilight's house. None of them had asked where it had come from. Slowly, Twilight walked into the wreckage and began gathering up her things. Spike, Rarity and Pinkie began to help quietly. They arranged Twilight's belongings into organized stacks and piles around her house. "Hey... at least it's not raining.", Pinkie said. As if on cue, the ground beneath them started shaking again. Piles of books spilled over and they looked to the distance to see Fluttershy galloping towards them. "Fluttershy?! Where are you going? Why are you running?", Twilight asked as her giant friend approached. "Um, Twilight? I don't think she- you might want to get-", Rarity tried to warn her friend as the giant pegasus kept running towards them. Twilight, Rarity, Pinkie and Spike dove to the side of Twilight's fallen house as Fluttershy ran past them. She stepped in a large orange blob on the ground as she did and pulled up her hoof, examining it before trying to brush it off in the ground. "Fluttershy! What's going on? Where did you go?!", Twilight called out to her friend as she approached. "Oh, Twilight, I'm sorry. I didn't see you there. It's just been one thing after another. First, I tried to fly to Canterlot but then Discord showed up and then I went back to Ponyville for some reason and the whole town got wrecked and Trixie showed up and-", Fluttershy stammered and tried to explain. "Calm down Fluttershy. Just go slowly.", Twilight comforted her friend. "Okay...", Fluttershy took a deep breath. "I tried to go see the princess on my own but I ran into Discord.", she said. "Discord?! He's back?!", Twilight asked, shocked at the revelation. Fluttershy nodded and looked to the ground. "I... I think I just stepped on him. Oh, I hope he's okay." "Stepped on him?!?!", the group asked in unison. They walked over to the blob of cheese on the ground to see the form of Discord flattened inside of it. Fluttershy had completely crushed the villain as he'd been stuck to the ground. His flattened eyes were shut and his mouth hung open, like a visible imprint in the cheese. "He's out cold.", Twilight said, examinging him. "How did he get out?" she asked. "Well... he said that he got hit by a magic spell... a super-strong size-changing spell...", Fluttershy recalled what he'd told her. Twilight's eyes went wide. "So, me and Trixie?", Twilight asked. Fluttershy nodded solemnly. "Well, at least he's been taken care of.", Spike stated, folding his arms. Yes, Discord was free but he was unconcious and stuck to the ground. He wouldn't be up to his old tricks any time soon. But why was there cheese in the middle of the ground anyway? A loud noise drew the groups attention the way Fluttershy had came and they turned to see a wooden vehicle approaching. "What is that?", Rarity asked. The tank's cannon fired as it came up the road and a large pile of cheese hit the ground just before them. "I. Must. Have one.", Pinkie said as she stared at the orange mess in front of her. "It's Flim and Flam in a tank! And Trixie has the Alicorn Amulet! And... I kind of destroyed Sugarcube Corner.", Fluttershy admitted as she backed away from the tank and lowered herself. "Wait, slow down! Flim and Flam and... Trixie has the Alicorn Amulet?! Again?!!", Twilight screeched. "That's right Twilight Sparkle! Your friend has trashed Ponyville for the last time!", Trixie declared as she appeared from behind the tank. "Trixie, please! You're not going to help anypony with that amu-" "Shut up Twilight Sparkle! Trixie has had enough of your nonsense! The Fluttertitan's destruction ends now!", Trixie snapped. The cabin of the tank pulled back, revealing Flim and Flam again. "Now hold on just a minute Miss Great and Powerful. We have a stake in this too.", Flim announced to Trixie. "Please. How exactly is a cheese cannon going to catch a monster?", Trixie shot back. "Why, the Super Easy Catch-a-Beastie 6001 is an engineering masterpiece my dear! This marvelous machine is perfectly designed to subdue monsters of all types and sizes!", Flim said. "With Cheese?", Trixie raised an eyebrow in question. "You haven't even seen our machine in action! Come now, we shall blast all doubt out of your mind!", Flam said eagerly. Behind Twilight, Rarity and Spike, Fluttershy continued to shy away from the encounter. "Like the way you blasted Discord?", Trixie remarked. "Trixie darling, how was it Discord got out in the first place?", Rarity asked with a coy smile. Trixie quirked an eyebrow at the white unicorn. "Seems like a lot of ponies aren't really hitting their mark today.", Pinkie called out. Twilight, Trixie, Flim and Flam all collectively frowned at Pinkie's assessment of their accuracy. Pinkie stuck another piece of cheese in her mouth and chomped down, averting their gazes. "Hey guys... where is Fluttershy?", Spike asked. "She's gone!", Flim and Flam said simultaneously. "Great. How are we going to find her now?", Twilight asked. "Hey! Over here!", Pinkie shouted from behind Twilight's treehouse. Twilight, Rarity and Spike ran to the other side of Twilight's house, or rather the top part of the tree to see what Pinkie was talking about. Several cheese piles dotted the landscape down the road to Sweet Apple Acres. "More cheese Pinkie?", Rarity asked. "No! Remember? Fluttershy stepped in that cheese blob and it got stuck to her hoof! Which means...", Pinkie went on. "Follow that cheese!", Twilight shouted. Twilight dashed out, Rarity, Spike and Pinkie following close behind her. "Oh no you don't! You're not getting away from the GREAT and POWERFUL Trix-", Trixie said as she rounded the corner, only to be interrupted by Flim and Flam speeding by her. "Hey! Wait for the Grea... wait for Trixieeeeeeeee!", Trixie yelled as she ran after them. And at that moment at Sweet Apple Acres, Applejack found herself in a bit of a fix. A giant sac full of oversized seeds had landed right smack in the middle of their fields. How were they supposed to get any work done now? Applejack, Big Macintosh, Applebloom and Granny Smith stood at the mouth of the bag, wondering exactly what to do with the delivery of seeds. "Maybe we should try planting one?", Applebloom suggested. "I reckon a seed this size'd sprout something that would take up the whole orchard, maybe more.", Applejack remarked. "Eeyup.", Big Mac said in agreement. Granny Smith squinted her eyes at the bag. "Well, they're in some kinda bag so they must be belongin' to somepony.", she surmised with a hoof under her chin. "Maybe they're for some giant pony's garden.", Applebloom guessed, turning and looking around as she did. "Giant ponies... no where exactly would they come from?", Applejack asked her little sister, questioning more her imagination than her hypothesis. "Um, how about from over there!", Applebloom pointed down the road at the approaching form of the giant Fluttershy. The ground shook as she approached and the trees seemed to vibrate. Fluttershy galloped right up to them and stopped. "My bag! Oh, Applejack!", Fluttershy said as she noticed her friend next to the sac. "Fluttershy?! What happened to you girl?", Applejack asked. "Um, it'll take too long to explain. Please, you have to hide me!", Fluttershy said, looking over her shoulder. "Hide you? What's going on? How exactly are we going to hide you? You probably wouldn't even fit in the barn!", Applejack said, looking up at her huge friend. "Maybe she could.", Applebloom thought. "What are you talking about Applebloom?", Applejack questioned her little sister again. Applebloom scratched the underside of her chin as a smile spread across her face. She looked up at Fluttershy who was a tad scared. > Something rainbow this way dashes > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight, Rarity and Pinkie Pie galloped to Sweet Apple Acres with Spike riding on Twilight's back. They followed the gobs of cheese in the road as they lead them into the countryside. Slowly, each gob diminished until finally the trail disappeared just outside of one the fenced in fields. They looked around, trying to find any other indication of Fluttershy's path. "Hey! What's that?" Pinkie pointed at a giant, lumpy canvas bag in the middle of the field. They climbed over the fence and trotted over to the bag. Pinkie Pie poked it with a hoof while Twilight trotted around with Spike to the mouth of the sac and peered inside. "Seeds? Didn't Fluttershy say she'd bought some seeds from Cloudsdale?" Spike asked. "They must've landed here when she dropped them," Twilight said looking around. "Maybe Applejack's seen her." They walked through the fields to the farm and saw no further evidence that any giant pegasi had passed through. Twilight and the others reached the farmhouse and saw no evidence of Applejack or her family either. They knocked on the door, called out to the family members but recived no responses. Twilight walked around the estate and finally saw them in the distance by the barn. "Hey! They're over here!" she called to her friends. The Apples were busying themselves around the barn and looked to be working frantically, except for Applejack who was facing a tree nearby. Twilight galloped over to the barn with Rarity, Pinkie and Spike following close behind her. Something seemed to be different about the barn... it seemed larger, wider. Almost like it had bloated outward but still maintained its shape. "Applejack! Big Mac! What are you guys doing?" Twilight asked as she came over. Applebloom stuck her head out from behind the barn. She held a can of red paint by the handle in her mouth and dropped it when she saw them. "Oh, uh, hi Twilight! We're just uh, remodeling the barn!" Applebloom said. "We're doing what to the barn?" Granny Smith asked. "Yes. We are remodeling the barn," Applejack stated flatly, still facing the tree. Twilight raised an eyebrow at her friend in suspicion. "Okay... have any of you seen Fluttershy today?" Twilight asked them. Applejack swallowed hard but didn't turn around. The barn's wooden paneling creaked. "Nope! No, haven't seen anypony all day have we Big Mac?" Applebloom said nervously as she backed away from the barn. Her big brother let out a long "Ehhhhh" as if to give one of his two trade mark responses but this time he trailed off and dropped his eyes to the ground. "Well, do you guys need any help with the barn?" Twilight offered. The paneling creaked again and a horizontal wooden beam on the side of the barn began to peel back as if forced outward by some inward force. Spike thought he caught sight of some sort of yellow bulge behind the board before Big Mac pushed it back in. "I think we've got it under control but thanks for offerin!" Applebloom said, starting to sweat a little. Big Mac began being pushed back by whatever was forcing out the board in the side of the barn. Applebloom put her back against the wooden beam and helped Big Mac push against it. Both of them gritted their teeth and the wood groaned under stress. "Ennnnnnnh, hey, why don't y'all go have some of Granny's lemonade back at the house!" Applebloom suggested as she dug her hooves into the ground, trying to hold back the beam. The barn began shaking. "Applebloom, is there something you're not telling us?" Rarity asked with a knowing smile at the young filly. Applejack finally turned around and gasped when she saw her brother and sister pressed against the side of the barn. The beam they were holding back snapped in the middle. The front of the barn burst open and long, pink hair spilled fourth from the breach. The back side of the barn collapsed outward, revealing the face of an uncomfortably cramped Fluttershy. Applebloom and Big Mac backed away with the others as the sides of the barn finally unfolded and crumbled to the ground in a cloud of dust. The dust cleared and Fluttershy stood exposed amongst the ruins of the barn. "Oh! Hi Twilight." Fluttershy said, smiling timidly and brushing off some debris from her mane. "Hey Fluttershy. Remodeling the barn huh Applebloom?" Twilight asked, accusing the young filly. "Ummm, yeah I mean, um-" "It's okay Twilight. I asked them to help me hide," Fluttershy explained. "Why were you trying to hide from us Fluttershy?" Twilight asked. "I wasn't hiding from you, I was hiding from-" "Well, lookey what we have here, brother-of-mine!" Flam announced as he, his brother and Trixie drove towards the group in their tank. The tank kicked up a cloud of dirt and knocked over a fence as the brothers jostled at the controls. Trixie held her head with one hoof and looked off to the side in an expression of boredom and disapproval as she rode with the brothers. "It's the Super Cheesy thing!" Pinkie yelled as she pointed to the tank. "That's Super Easy!" Flam yelled back. "Isn't that what I said?" Pinkie asked the others around her. Spike shrugged, conveying the combination of confusion at the approaching monstrosity and indifference at whatever the salesponies called it that was felt by the group. "Looks like the monster's trail has led us right to our former competitors, my brother!" Flim said. "The creature's not content with just destroying properties in Ponyville! Now it's attacking Sweaty Apples Acre!" Flam said back. "That's Sweet Apple Acres!" Applebloom shouted at their rivals, correcting them. "Isn't that what I said?" Flam asked his brother, confused. His brother shrugged. "You know, both of you are talking but at least one of you should be driving," Trixie said. They knocked over another fence. The tank ground to a halt just in front of where the barn had stood moments earlier. "Our apologies for roughing up the fence posts a bit my dear sweet apples but allow us to make up for it by catching this monster!" Flam announced to the group. "I've told you already! It's not a monster; it's Twilight Sparkle's friend grown giant,", Trixie told them. The brothers exchanged puzzled looks. "Preposterous! We saw this monster destroy the market place, Sugarcube Corner and now South Apple Anchor's barn!" Flim said. "It's Sweet Apple Acres!" "Whatever. I hope your apples don't mind a little cheese!", Flim said as he threw a switch. The cannon lowered and made a loud churning noise, the cheese inside surging. Point-blank range, there was no way to avoid this blast. Twilight's mind raced as she tried to think of a spell to counter the impending shot. Would she even be fast enough to intercept it if she knew a spell to counter a giant blob of cheese? "Soon, ponies from across Equestria will be lining up to get one of our Super Cheesy-" *ahem* "Easy" "Super EASY Catch-a-Beastie 6001's. Dragons, Hydras, Timberwolves, Ursas, giant pegasi, all will be problems of the past thanks to Flim Flam Science and Technology!", Flam said as the cannon prepared to fire. Fluttershy closed her eyes. The cannon was about to fire. "I think you two need to put a lid on it!" Pinkie shouted as she dashed to the tank. She climbed aboard and over the cabin where the two brothers sat and up to the barrel. With both hooves, she slammed the combat helmet into the opening of the barrel. "Oh dear.", Flam remarked. The cannon started to whine and rumble. The entire tank began to groan and shake as the pressure from the cheese in the barrel continued to build. The brothers leapt from their seats and and tried to remove the helmet blocking the barrel, to no avail. "Pull harder!" "I'm pulling as hard as I can!" Trixie pushed herself between the squabbling brothers. "Both of you, move aside and let the GREAT and POWERFU-" The cannon exploded in a torrent of cheese, blasting the three unicorns off the tank. A fountain of fromage erupted from the cannon's remains. The gooey mass covered the tank and spilled fourth onto the ground around it, not a single drop landing on Fluttershy or the others. "You fools! Ewah, it's everywhere!" Trixie complained as she was stuck to the ground in a glob of cheese fifteen feet away from the tank. "I can't believe this! How could this have happened?! We still had two payments to make on it!" Flim and Flam griped as they tried to pry themselves out of the cheese pile they were in. "You got cheese on my mane, my hat, even the Alicorn Amulet!" Trixie said as she tried to pull cheese off of her. She removed the Alicorn Amulet as and tried brushing the cheese off her coat from underneath it. A purple aura appeared around the amulet and it floated away from her hoof. "I'll be taking this," said Twilight as she levitated the amulet over to her. "Hey!" "This time, I think I'll send this to Princess Celestia for safe keeping," Twilight considered as she stowed the amulet behind her. "Ohhhh, I didn't even get to use it this time... and now I'm covered in cheese!", Trixie whined, still drenched in the sticky mess. Twilight smiled; things were finally starting to turn around. "All right, no more tanks, no more Amulets, no more Discord. Everything's going to be all right now. Nothing else bad is going to happen." Twilight ended that sentence in her mind withI hope. "Well, we still haven't seen Queen Chrysalis. Or King Sombra. He could show up," Pinkie stated. "That would require him to get screentime Pinkie. That's just not gonna happen," Applejack reminded her, breaking the fourth wall. Pinkie Pie nodded solemnly and looked at the ground. Twilight turned in response to the comment. "NOTHING ELSE BAD IS GOING TO HAPPEN!", she said in thundering declaration. The two ponies went silent. A shadow quickly fell over them all. "Fluttershy, no, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to yell! Please don't run away again!" Twilight said as she turned to Fluttershy but the pegasus was standing still in the remains of the barn. She shook her head. Twilight looked to Applejack and the others. Their faces were frozen with mouths hung wide open as they stared in awe at something behind her. Twilight turned back around nervously to the source of the other giant shadow that was cast over them to see another giant pegasus standing before them. "Can somepony please tell me what's going on?", a giant Rainbow Dash asked. > A little solution > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Rainbow Dash! Not you too!", Twilight called as she ran over to her giant friend. "Careful! Don't get too close! I don't want to step on you!", Rainbow Dash cautioned. "Fluttershy? Is that you?", she asked the other pegasus. "Hi Rainbow Dash. I don't know what we're going to do...", Fluttershy said on the verge of tears. "Wow! Clearing the sky will be a breeze for you now Rainbow Dash! You take up most of it!", Pinkie remarked as she bounced over. "Ha. Ha.", Rainbow Dash rolled her eyes and laughed sarcastically. "Hmm. First Fluttershy and now Rainbow Dash... maybe the spell only affects pegasi?", Rarity thought aloud. "What's going on you guys? Why is everything so little?", Rainbow Dash nervously asked. "I... I made a mistake with a spell and it made Fluttershy giant... I don't know how but it must've hit you too.", Twilight said, a glum look on her face. Just when she thought things couldn't get any worse, another big problem literally drops right out of the sky. She hung her head low and closed her eyes not even contemplating how she would correct this latest complication. Her failure was absolute. "But it's only Ponyville that's little!", Rainbow Dash said. Twilight's eyes shot open and she looked up. "What?!" "I just came from Cloudsdale and everything there is still the same size! But when I checked your house, Rarity's, Pinkie's and Fluttershy's places, everything was tiny!", Rainbow Dash explained. Everyone went wide-eyed at the revelation. The realization dawned on Twilight, "That must be why the reversal spell wouldn't work! I was using it on Fluttershy when I should've used it on... all of Equestria!", she said, looking all around her. She'd been looking at the problem the wrong way all along. She knew what to do now. "Well, that certainly seems to explain everything. Do you think you'll be able to correct it now Twilight?", Rarity asked. "Something tells me that I won't have any problem at all.", Twilight said calmly. She knew the spell and she knew what to use it on. Her horn glowed with a magenta aura and expelled a purple wave that washed over the landscape. When the spell disappated, Rainbow Dash was normal sized in front of her. Fluttershy, Spike, Pinkie Pie, Rarity and Applejack joined them and they embraced in a hug that was just the right size. "Can somepony help me now?", Trixie pleaded with them from behind. "Ohh, why did I eat all that cheese?", Pinkie Pie asked, holding her stomach. "Us too!", Flim and Flam added. The group helped pull all three of them apart from the cheese. "Thank you Twilight Sparkle. I... I don't know what came over me.", Trixie admitted. "I think I know.", a voice said from behind them. Twilight recognized it right away and was more than startled to turn around and see Princess Celestia standing behind them. "Princess Celestia!", Twilight shouted and ran over to her mentor. "My dearest student Twilight, it's so good to see you.", the princess said as she embraced her pupil. "I, I'm sorry about the damage to Ponyville princess! I was just so worried about my magic and nothing was working and-", Twilight stammered. "It's all right Twilight. The damage to Ponyville is already being repaired. And your magic seems to be incredibe. You shrank all of Equestria with that spell.", the princess consoled her. "I... I wasn't planning on shrinking Equestria.", Twilight said. "It seems as though you shrank more than Equestria. That spell also affected your friends.", Celestia added. "That makes sense actually. I normally would've been much more tolerant of Trixie's attitude.", Rarity said. "I'm sorry Rarity. I don't know why I was acting like that.", Trixie apologized. "It's quite all right Trixie. I know you didn't mean it.", Rarity forgave the blue unicorn with a smile. "I normally wouldn't have let Applebloom go through with tryin to hide Fluttershy!", Applejack stated flatly. She nuzzled her little sister with a free hoof. "I don't know why I ate all that cheese...", Pinkie's face turned green and she held her stomach. "But... but I probably still would've overreacted. I've done that before. The spell didn't affect my attitude.", Twilight said with a sad frown. "Oh but it did Twilight. But it was a different kind of magic that affected you.", Celestia said. "What do you mean?", Twilight asked. "We all act differently when we panic. When strange things happen, especially to our friends, it can make us all act differently, even irrationally. Sometimes ponies can be agitated more easily... or be less tolerant. Others may just want to run away and hide or pretend it isn't happening. And still some try to find comfort... occassionally in food.", Celestia cast a smile upon Pinkie who hiccuped in response. "Spike actually acted best. Without him, you would've never found out about what happened here.", Twilight surmised. Spike put an arm behind his head and blushed a tad. "You acted just fine Twilight. You did your best to fix the problem for your friends. I was right to entrust you with that book.", Celestia said. "Um, we actually kind of tore the book apart.", Twilight admitted. "I'll have to get you another copy of the Alicorn's First Spellbook from the library", Celestia replied. Trixie quirked an eyebrow at the remark "Now, the road between here and Ponyville seems to be covered in cheese... and I think I saw Discord in one of the piles. Would anypony be willing to help clean up the town?", Celestia asked everyone though she clearly meant the offer for two ponies in particular. "Leave it to us Princess! The Flim Flam Brothers will have the road cleaned up in a jiffy!", Flim delcared. "This whole situation has given us a great idea for a new type of street sweeper! Perhaps one that's powered by cheese!", Flam thought aloud. "I think somepony's brain is powered by cheese.", Rainbow Dash whispered. "Please, don't mention cheese.", Pinkie pleaded, her stomach still upset. "Come on everypony, we've got a road to clean up.", Twilight said and they began walking back to town. "Hey Twilight? Is there any spell in that book that can get cheese off the ground faster?", Spike asked in response to the daunting task ahead of them. "I don't know Spike. For now, I think it'll take a different kind of magic to clean up Ponyville.", Twilight said. "What kind of magic is that Twilight?", asked Rarity. "The magic of teamwork! Let's get going!", Twilight said as she raced down the road back to Ponyville with her friends. > Alternate Epilogue: Big Twist > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Fluttershy looked to the ground as she thought of the work ahead of them. "Twilight? Could you hold on a second please?", she asked as the others galloped off towards town. "What is it Fluttershy?", Twilight turned and asked. "I'm pretty tired with everything that's happened today... would it be all right if I went home to take a rest?". Fluttershy did feel partially responsible for what had happened but she was exhausted. She also had to go back and get her seeds still in the field. Twilight smiled. "Of course Fluttershy. You go home and get some rest. The others and I will clean up the town.", she assured her friend. "Thanks Twilight. I'm sorry I caused all of this.", Fluttershy apologized, her gaze fixed on the ground. Twilight shook her head at the statement. "It wasn't your fault Fluttershy; it was mine. I just couldn't accept the fact that I... that I messed up so badly on such a simple spell. I'm sorry I put you through all of this.", Twilight apologized herself. Fluttershy perked up. "It's okay. It was fun... kind of.", she smiled a timid smile. "Next time this happens and the reversal spell doesn't work right away, we go to the princess. Okay?" "Hopefully there won't be a next time! C'mon Twilight! The road's still covered in cheese and I have to get back to the market and buy crackers before sundown!", Pinkie called out to them. Just moments ago she was complaining of a stomach ache from too much cheese. Now, Pinkie was planning on getting crackers and making a buffet of the road. Twilight shuddered at the thought of eating road cheese. Again, Pinkie Pie was her own explanation for her actions. Why? Because Pinkie Pie. That worked in Twilight's mind for now. "I'll see you tomorrow Fluttershy. Bye!", Twilight said as she trotted off to join the others. "Bye...", Fluttershy whispered. She walked down the road to the field where she'd seen her bag of seeds. A giant-sized hoofprint caught her eye in the road. She looked down at it and then examined her own hoof. Fluttershy had been huge indeed. Several ponies could fit within her own hoofprint. She felt a trill of excitement at making a mark on Equestria like this. She caught herself grinning and shook her head. She put the ideas out of her head. She was back to being normal-sized Fluttershy. Normal, same-old, boring, tiny Fluttershy... her gaze slowly traveled down to the ground. Fluttershy retraced her own enormous hoofprints to her sac of seeds. It had been right where she'd left it and was normal size as well. She picked it up off the ground and dusted it off. The basket she'd been carrying the seeds in though... where had it fallen? She looked around for it. It couldn't have gotten far. "Looking for something?", a familiar voice said behind her. She turned to see Discord standing a few feet away swinging the basket by the handle. Despite having been blasted by Flim and Flam's cheese cannon and being inadvertently crushed by giant Fluttershy afterward, he looked no worse for wear. "Discord, don't you think we've all had enough chaos for one day?", she asked the demon. "Oh, today was a lot of fun wasn't it? But I agree, being stepped on by a giant pegasus definitely takes it out of a fellow. We should do it again sometime. Here's your basket back big girl.", he said, tossing her the basket. "I think I'll take a little vacation, maybe see how my good friend King Sombra is doing in the Crystal Empire." Fluttershy caught the basket. "That would require him to get screentime. I don't think that's going to happen.", she stated flatly. Discord frowned in disappointment. "Yes, you're right...", he said, scratching his chin. "Oh well. Toodles.", Discord then pressed a finger in midair which made the sound of a button pressing. The ground beneath his feet began moving him forward as he stood on it. He leaned to the side and let out a long sigh as the earth under him moved him along like a conveyor belt. Fluttershy thought for a moment. "Um, Discord?", she asked. Discord pressed the air again and the 'conveyor belt' stopped. He turned towards Fluttershy. "You said you know about size-altering magic right?", Fluttershy asked with a shy smile. Discord raised an eyebrow. "Yes, why?", he asked back. "Do you think you could perform that size-changing spell... the one from Twilight's book?", she asked, looking up at him with kind eyes that didn't betray a hint of the true slyness of her curiousity. Discord's face broke into a huge grin. He liked the way the pegasus was thinking. There was fun in store for both of them. Big fun. > Alternate Chapter 5: Big Deal > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Now, who wants to see boring old Celestia? Why don't we go back to Ponyville and see your friends?" Discord suggested with a sly grin. "Friends?! You mean those fools who can't even get a simple counterspell to work? No, I'm going to the princess to get her to fix this. She was the one who gave Twilight Screwup that book anyway." the deharmonized Fluttershy proclaimed angrily. Discord was brushed aside by one of her shoulders as she flew past him. Come to think of it, seeing Fluttershy destroy Canterlot did sound like a wonderful idea to the draconequus. He decided to follow her... from a safe distance. The dark clouds parted and Canterlot came into view. A giant shadow climbed up the mountain and soon cast upon the city itself. Ponies saw her, gentry paniced and ran in all directions. The castle itself didn't have enough room to land so she flew around outside it. "Knock knock! Princess Celestia?! Your favorite student caused a little problem I need you to deal with!" Fluttershy shouted at the castle. She twisted and careened her neck trying to look into the windows of the sprawling palace. The flapping of her wings created gusts that blew off flags, banners and the decorative tips of spires as she flew around. Her tail brushed the top of a keep and snapped the pole off the top of it. Inside and amongst the walkways, gaurds scrambled for cover. Discord could hardly contain his glew as he watched the pegasus hover around the castle, sending ponies fleeing for their lives and causing havoc. He lounged on a gray cloud and watched the chaos while eating movie popcorn from a red and white bag. Of course, this was Discord. He pulled out a wooden stick and inserted into the popcorn bag and proceeded to lick it like a strange, waxy, hot-buttered popsicle. "What are you and what do you want with my sister?" Princess Luna called from the courtyard of the castle. "Well, if it isn't the outcast. At least you showed up on time for once. Where's your sister?" Fluttershy asked. Luna blinked at the remark. "Princess Celesta was summoned by her faithful student Twilight-" "Oh, so they DID send a letter? Wonderful, which means I wasted my time coming all the way here. Well, what are you looking at?! Go get your big sister and have her come fix this!!" Fluttershy sat down and folded her hooves. "I don't know who you are or where you-" Fluttershy sighed in frustration and rolled her eyes and head around. "Oh bucking hay, it's Fluttershy! Twilight's friend, Element of Kindness and all that... ring a bell?" "Fluttershy, what has happened to you?" "Oh, I'm experimenting with a new manestyle and I wanted everypony to see it! YOUR SISTER'S PROTEGE TURNED ME INTO A GIANT! WHAT DO YOU THINK HAPPENED?!" Fluttershy screamed, blowing uprooting several plants in the courtyard and sending statues flying backwards. "All they had to do was reverse a simple sizing spell and everything would've been back to normal!" "Sizing magic? I can use a reversal spell and have you back to-" "Oh please. Like I'm going to risk having the black sheep sister try to fix this. King Sombra has a better chance of getting screentime." Fluttershy then turned her huge back to the princess. Discord's jaw dropped when he heard Fluttershy tell off Luna. He spawned a donut from midair and broke it down the middle, dipped it into the cloud he was perched on and ate it. Luna did not look amused. "Excuse me?" Luna took to the sky and turned around to the pegasus-giant's face. "I don't know what has gotten into you but it stops now." she said firmly. Fluttershy brushed past her and headed out into the town itself. "Where do you think you're going?! What is wrong with you?" Fluttershy turned to her. "Does any store in town sell airbush seeds?" "I'm not-" "Oh, that's right. Like you would know. None of the stores are open at night. And how long has it been since you visited the town in the day time? Or any time for that matter?" "I... I try to make my appointed rounds. It's my duty to protect-" "Blah blah blah, I haven't gotten out much since I was imprisoned in the bucking moon. Are you going to go get your sister or not?" Fluttershy mocked her from over her shoulder. "I'm not going to go get anypony until you-" "You know she likes Twilight more than you right?" "I... what?" Luna was struck speechless by the question. Discord had to slap himself in the face when he heard that. "Oh, surprised? When was the last time she got off her flank and saw you when you were in trouble?" "I haven't been-" "When was the last time she read one of your letters? When has she ever needed your help for something?" "I don't, I wasn't-" Fluttershy turned back towards her and now advanced, both her size and her words bearing down upon the comparitively small Luna. "She barely even knows you exist. You might as well've never left the moon." Fluttershy said with a mischievious grin. Luna snapped. Her eyes erupted into glowing white streaks. Shadows encircled her and formed armor, altered her size and color subtely. Fluttershy took a few cautious steps back as Princess Luna transformed into Nightmare Moon. > Alternate Chapter 6: Big Idea > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "WHO DOST THOU THINK THOU IS ADDRESSING US IN SUCH A MANNER?!" Nightmare Moon said, assuming the Royal Canterlot Voice. Fluttershy continued backing away from the transformed princess. Even in her altered gray state, she was having second thoughts about taunting the princess. "You want to see a sizing spell? Allow me to demonstrate!!" Nightmare's horn discharged a pitch-black beam of energy at Fluttershy. It hit the gray pegasus square in the head and exploded around her in a flash of light. When the light cleared, Fluttershy remained the same size. "What?!" "Ha-ha!" Fluttershy laughed at Nightmare Moon's failed attempt to return her to normal. She got up and started walking off into the city. "What is going on here? Why did the counterspell not work?" Luna asked in disbelief as she watched the giant pegasus tromp off. "Where do you think you're going?! Get back here!" she shouted and flew off to follow her. Meanwhile, at a nearby cafe... "Michael? Michael!" "What?" asked director Michael Hay as he gazed out the window, lost in thought. He was sitting at a table in the Clover Cafe eating lunch with his producer. "Michael, we need to talk about your last movie, "Transformares". You spent over five-hundred thousand bits on effects alone and you broke every tripod on the set." Michael turned to his producer. "You see this cutie mark? It's an explosion. What do you think that means?" The producer sighed. "Mike, you don't have to remove ALL the effects, I'm just saying you need to tone it down a little. The studio can't afford all these bits Michael." "Everypony loves explosions! The more the better I say! How can that philosophy not work? People argue about good and bad stories alike, plot's never perfect. But I've never met a pony who could argue when something blew up." Michael banged a mug on his desk for emphasis. The producer could tell he wasn't getting through to him. "You need SOME story in your films, I mean... Steve? George? Back me up here?" he asked over his shoulder to two ponies sitting at the table behind them. The two stallions looked up from their meal. "Well, I enjoyed Transformares but I agree. Sometimes you need to focus a little more on plot rather than action." said director Steven Spielbuck. "Effects are a good thing, the right effects at the right time can create a truly amazing moment but it can't compensate for lack of story. The most important thing I directors need to focus on right now is continuity." said George Lucolt. "George, aren't you working on "Star Mares Episode Seven?" the producer asked. "Well, I'm writing on it but Disneigh's taking over most of the work. We're also working on the new Daring Do movies." "I don't understand what you mean. I mean, look at Neighmes Cameron. Appletar was incredibly effects driven. Star Trot , most of his movies are effects driven. And hasn't it been like, forty years since you made a Daring Do movie?" Michael asked. "Well, yeah but it follows the same story line." Steven said. "You see Michael? Continuity. That's what your films need more of." the producer said. Michael looked outside the window of the cafe again. Michael thought he heard something, like hammer in the distance striking something repeatedly. The noise became louder. The ground began to shake underneath them, the silverware on the table began to jump. "What's going on? Earthquake?" the producer asked. Michael looked out the window again to see the enormous gray hooves of a beast walking by, each of its legs shook the ground as it strode through the city. "What is that?!" the producer asked, still sitting. The monster passed the Clover Cafe and continued down the street. Michael got up from the table and trotted outside. He looked around and immediately got an idea. "Does anypony have a camera?!" Michael shouted as his head twisted back and fourth. "Oh no, I see where you're going with this Mike." the producer said as he exited the cafe. "This is perfect! A movie about a giant monster! I've got to call the studio! We'll call it something simple..." Michael looked at the sign above the Clover Cafe. "Cloverfield? Hmm." he thought to himself. "You still owe the studio for the tripods you ruined. How are you going to shoot this thing?" "We don't need tripods! We'll get Shakey to do it." Michael began trotting down the street. "Shakey? But he can't hold a camera! He's always shaking!" the producer called after him. "That's the point!" Michael called as he turned a corner. The producer sighed heavily and went back inside the cafe and sat down next to George and Steven. "He wants to make a giant monster movie now. This is going to be wonderful." the producer said sarcastically. "I think it could be a good idea if he puts some effort into making a good story." Steven remarked. "Well, when the audience sees a story about a giant monster, they usually expect it to be a little on the cliche side and focus less on plot. I mean, look at Trotzilla." George said. The producer agreed but for some reason, he still had a bad feeling about Cloverfield. > Alternate Chapter 7: King Sombra Gets Screentime > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The author of this story requests that the readers envision this chapter as narrated by Leonard Nimoy. During the narration, the readers should also envison Leonard Nimoy being assailed by Anthony Daniels and Jason Alexander and he has to fight both of them off alongside Chris Tucker while Cuba Gooding Jr. and Danny Devito fight in the background. The reader should NOT imagine King Sombra in anyway. Failure to comply WILL result in giant Fluttershy crying giant tears. Author may not have been lucid upon time of submission. Reader discression is whatever, blah blah blah. Enjoy. Luna had never been so furious at another pony before. How DARE that uncouth giant treat her that way! She would feel the wrath of Nightmare Moon before this day was over! She pursued the giant, gray pegasus from the sky as Fluttershy walked into Canterlot's streets. Luna, in Nightmare Moon mode unleashed blast after furious blast of magic at the huge... bitch as she tromped gingerly down the road. Fluttershy, on the other hoof, barely noticed Luna's attempts at returning her to normal size or whatever it was she was trying to do. As she suspected, the spell wouldn't work. So, she thought she'd look for some replacement seeds while waiting for the competent sister to return her flank to Canterlot. If anypony had a problem with that, big deal. Canterloters, ponies milling about through the streets did the predictable, galloped away in fear at the very sight of the monstrous Fluttershy. Good. Maybe there won't be a long line at the store now. "I ORDER YOU TO HALT FIEND!" shouted Nightmare Moon, Luna, Moona, Noona, whatever in the Royal Canterlot Voice. Fluttershy turned her head around and grinned slyly at the princess behind her. Compared to her, the dark blue alicorn in jet black armor was the size of a toy. She flapped one of her wings and a gust knocked Nightmare Luna out of the sky. Mooney recovered quickly and took to the air again with an enraged groan bordering a roar. "I SAID STOP!" she screeched. The power of the princess's voice sent shockwaves through the buildings. Several windows were shattered but the giant pegasus continued undaunted down the street. The cobblestones in the road were uprooted by the vibrations Fluttershy's hooves sent through the ground with each step she took. Fluttershy arrived at an intersection. She looked down both roads to the right and left of her. It had been so long since she visited Canterlot and she didn't know which road led to the market. Guessing the market would probably be more towards the center of town, she took the left road and turned the corner, knocking over a streetsign with her tail as she did. Meanwhile, in Florence, Italy Nothing relevant to this story happened. Night Luna followed her and unleashed another blast of energy. Again, no results. The pegasus didn't even flinch. What was going on? None of her spells were working but she refused to admit defeat. She uneleashed another blast as the giant paused to look at a sign. Her body had turned slightly and Moon Luna's spell actually missed, flying by and hitting a building in the distance. Smoke rose from the structure and the screams of citizens echoed down the street. "Nice shot." Fluttershy said sarcastically. Luney snapped again, gritting her teeth and diving at the jolly grey giant. She grabbed hold of her back leg. "STOP THIS INSTANT! I COMMAND YOU TO-" Luna was cutoff as Fluttershy shook her back leg, knocking off the tiny princess. Luna recovered in midair, taking a moment to level herself off when a shadow was cast over her. Nightmare Luna had a chance to look up briefly to see an enormous grey flank coming down upon her before it crushed her into the street. Fluttershy daintily sat on the princess, smashing her with all the force of a dragon-sized pegasus. She smiled as she got up. Now that that was out of the way, she needed to find ask for directions. Seeing as how Luna was in no position to talk, she decided to ask some of the ponies in town. "Hey, any of you know where the market is?" she asked in the middle of the street. There was no answer; everypony had already fled it seemed. Maybe now she wouldn't even have to pay for the new seeds. But she still needed to find the store first. She continued walking down the street, looking for a directory, signs, anything leading to market or store. The street was a little bit wider than the ones in Ponyville and was a tad more accomodating to the pegasus' large size. Apart from the occasional sign overhanging from a building into the street or a lamp post, she didn't destroy much. In fact, it was almost comfortable. She had to admit, there was a strange appeal to being huge. It was almost fun watching other ponies run away in terror. On top of that, one of the most powerful ponies in all of Equestria had tried to stop her and was now pancaked in the middle of the street because Fluttershy decided to sit on her. Maybe she'd have a little more fun. Behind her, Discord was doing his best to keep up while carrying a camera and tripod. He stopped and examined a large crater in the middle of the road to see the flattened form of Luna laying inside of it. No longer in Nightmare Moon mode, her limbs were sprawled and pieces of her cracked armor were scattered around her. She looked as if she'd been hit by a meteor-sized object. "Well hello there princess! You know, it's dangerous to play IN the street." Discord commented. Luna's glazed gaze lazily rolled over to Discord. Althought she saw double of the fiend, she was able to clearly understand him as he spoke. "Di...Di...Di..." she started to say, the draconequus's image blurred in and out of focus in her vision. "Did you happen to see wich way Fluttershy went? I'm having trouble keeping my latest subject in focus." Discord said as he set up his camera. "Discord... what... what are you...doing...?" the alicorn asked weakly. Discord pointed the camera directly at Luna. "What am I doing? I'm making a movie. Now, quiet on the set! And... acttttion!" The camera rolled on Luna as she groggily tried to say something but managed only a series of incoherent groans. "Yes! Yes! That's just the reaction I'm looking for! Literally struck with AWE at the sheer chaos of the moment! It's priceless!" Slowly, Luna regained clarity and shook off the confusion. She looked at Discord as he grinned at her and pointed the camera in her face. Using her horn, she levitated the camera and tripod off the ground and pinned Discord to the pavement with it. Discord clawed at his neck as one of the legs pressed against him. She got up and was on top of him in moments, using the legs of the tripod to keep him pinned. "What have you done Discord? What did you do to Fluttershy?!" she demanded. "I didn't do anything! Well, except for deharmonizing her but really, I mean she was just asking for it! How could I not pass up the opportunity?" "What did you do to make her giant-sized? Why isn't any of my magic working?" "I had nothing to do with that! Honest! Just a little personality switch, that was me. I have no idea how she got so big!" Luna wasn't convinced. "I don't believe you." Using her magic, Luna ripped up a strip of the pavement Discord was stuck to and began rolling him into it like a carpet. "This will have to do until we can get you properly put back to stone." "Wait! Please, not the statue again, that's no fun. Let me out and I'll help you get Flutterzilla back to normal!" Discord pleaded. Luna considered the option. Her own magic wasn't working, that was certain. But could she really trust Discord? "What do you have to gain from this Discord other than your own twisted enjoyment?" she asked. "I'm serious about making a movie! Please, let me set up my camera and we'll take her down together! We can be stars, we can be famous, we can be-" Discord was about to finish the sentence when another huge shadow blocked out the sun. Luna looked up and saw a large object pass overhead. What could it be now? Another giant? The shadow passed over them and the object landed in the middle of the street in front of them. Luna's jaw practically hit the floor. "Now that's one big rainbow." Discord commented as the giant form of Rainbow Dash turned a corner and began walking down the street. > Alternate Chapter 8: King Sombra Really Gets Screentime > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Alternate Chapter 9: King Sombra Could Not Possibly Get More Screentime > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Presented in IMAX Rainbow had never gotten to Canterlot faster. She had to admit her new size was impressive. Not only was she the fastest pegasus in Ponyville, she was now udoubtedly one of the biggest. She refocused herself on the task at hand quickly. Twilight had informed her of the situation in Ponyville and after checking Cloudsdale, Canterlot was the next likely place to find Fluttershy. As Rainbow noticed the huge hoofprints in the pavement leading down the street, she knew she had been correct. She followed the trail down the road, being careful not to accidentally step on something or somepony. "Rainbow Dash! Rainbow Dash!" Discord called out to her, Luna trailing behind him with a slow, awkward gait. Rainbow Dash turned to face them both. Discord seemed to be carrying... a camera? "Princess? Discord? Wha-what is this?" "Oh this is wonderful! Two giant pegasi? This will make for a fantastic action sequence!" Discord said, setting up the camera and rolling the film. Luna swayed from side to side as she stood in place. "Rainbow... Dash... why are there... three of you?" Still disoriented from being crushed by Fluttershy's massive flank, the image of a giant Rainbow Dash blurred in and out of Luna's vision. "Three of- what are you doing here? Why is Discord free?" "Please Rainbow, stop moving... I'm having... difficulty enough with the floor moving." "It's quite all right." Discord said, taking a moment to look up from the camera to explain. The camera kept filming despite the fact he wasn't rolling it anymore. "To be honest, I'm not quite sure how I got out but once I did, I found an all too giant Fluttershy. Seems somepony's been experimenting with size-altering magic." "Yeah..." Rainbow Dash said, thinking back. "Twilight's working on a new spell. We think it may have hit Cloudsdale and gigantified all the pegasi." "How did she hit Cloudsdale with a sizing spell?" Discord asked. Rainbow's gaze shifted to the side as she prepared to reply. "We think... she might've missed what she was aiming at and accidentally hit the city." Discord covered his mouth to stifle a laugh as the two ponies glared at him. "So now ALL the pegasi are giants?" Luna asked as she finally regained clarity. "That's what it looks like. Twilight THINKS she's figured out a spell to fix everything but we need all the pegasi back at Cloudsdale to do it." Rainbow said. "So you came here to get Fluttersy?" Luna guessed. Rainbow Dash looked around. "Yeah, we need to get her back to Cloudsdale so Twilight can use her counter spell. Where is she? Is she around here?" A large crash from blocks away drew the group's attention. "You could say we've seen her around. Especially Luna..." Discord said. "Don't". Luna replied. "Well, she shouldn't be too hard for me to find. What are you two going to do?" Rainbow Dash asked. Discord pulled out a giant pocket comb. "Let's comb the city!" he proclaimed. "I don't think that will be necessary. We should just follow the... chaos." Luna said in an almost defeated tone. Discord smiled a toothy grin. "I do have an ear for that sort of thing don't I? Let's get going everypony! We've got a giant to catch!" Rainbow Dash carefully used her hooves to prop herself up and look over the roofs of a building. The buildings were a bit taller than the ones in Ponyville. She looked across the city, scanning the tops of buildings for any sign of Fluttershy. "You see anything?" Luna asked. The giant rainbow pegasus turned, momentarily perplexed. "Why are you asking when you can-" "I found something!" Discord announced as he raked the street with a comb. He reached down and pulled up a long, over-sized strand of hair. "A hair? It must've fallen off her when she came by." Rainbow Dash leaned over and examined the giant follicle. "That's not Fluttershy's; her hair is pink, not gray. Wait," Rainbow Dash's eyes went wide. "You don't think... Derpy!" she called out. The thought of a giant Derpy Hooves inadvertently destroying Canterlot ran through their three heads at that moment. Luna shook it off. "Rainbow Dash, there's something we should explain." Luna began. "What is it?" "That hair might still be Fluttershy's." Rainbow Dash raised an eyebrow. "How? That spell doesn't cause agint too does it?" Rainbow pulled down her own hair with a free hoof and examined her own mane. "Not exactly... you see, Discord..." Luna looked over at the draconequus holding the giant comb. He froze in place. A shadow fell over him, as did a piercing gaze from the enormous rainbow pegasus nearby. "You wouldn't have anything to do with this... would you Discord?" Rainbow asked in an accusing manner. Discord smiled sheepishly. "Discord..." "I couldn't help it! I mean seriously! It was just such a.. huge opportunity! How could I pass up something so... massive?" Discord justified his chaotic actions the only way he could. Rainbow Dash stomped a hoof into the ground, shaking the pavement. She snorted a gust that knocked the comb out of Discord's claws before lowering her head to his level and meeting him face-to-face. "You are going to change her back as soon as we find her!" Rainbow declared. Discord, in a moment of panic, pressed a thumb to Rainbow's forehead in an attempt to deharmonize her. Gray started to spread over her coat and a part of her mane as Discord's magic worked to switch her personality but Rainbow's gaze remained firmly fixed on him directly in front of her. The gray quickly receded into Discord's claw. He pulled it back as if he'd been stung and sucked on the claw, trembling as he did so. "Don't try that again." Rainbow said. Discord nodded, jittering as he did so. "You are going to help us find her, change her back and then bring her to Cloudsdale. Understand?" Rainbow made it clear for him one more time. "Yes ma'am." was his only reply. Luna thought about the hair in the middle of the road. "Oh! I just remembered. She said something about going to find some new seeds somewhere in Canterlot. She asked me if I knew of any shops nearby." Rainbow Dash stood up. "Lead the way Princess. To the nearest florist." Luna took to the sky with Rainbow following her on the ground and Discord once again at a safe distance behind them carrying the comb with him as he ran. > Alternate Chapter 10: Author Currently Cannot be Reached to Continue Running Gag > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Is there anyway to make this balloon go faster?!!" Twilight Sparkle screeched the question. Despite it being her balloon and having knowledge of how it worked, her panic was leading her to seek alternatives. Upon hearing the question, Pinkie leaned over the side and began to blow in the opposite direction the balloon was traveling. After a few moments, she was exhausted. Just then, Twilight got an idea. "Rainbow Dash, get out and-" "Giant." her friends echoed an answer to her notion. "Fluttershy, can you try to-" "Giant. Also, she's who we're looking for." Another group reply followed by Pinkie explaining. Twilight groaned in frustration and slumped to the floor of her balloon. "Maybe we could try the wing spell?" Rarity suggested enthusiastically. Of course she would jump at the opportunity to look fabulous. Twilight held her head in her hooves. "With what? You see any materials I can use to make wings in this balloon?" "I still have some leftover cheese." Pinkie mentioned, holding a combat helmet filled with chunks of formage. Rarity recoiled at the idea. "Cheese wings?! Wings made of... cheese? On me?!" she trembled as she contemplated the notion of using wings made of... cheese. "How would that even work? First, your cheese has holes in it. Second, there's not enough to make to wings for all of us. Third,-" "Cotton candy!" Pinkie shouted and pointed a hoof behind Twilight. "Cotton candy? That would be even worse! It would melt if it got exposed to-" Twilight didn't see behind her that the balloon was heading into a patch of clouds, a patch of cotton candy clouds. She was knocked to the floor as the balloon stuck into the bright pink fluff. "Oh no," Twilight said as she got to her hooves. "Cotton candy clouds? Oh no... that means..." "Discord got out again." Rarity and Pinkie echoed the unfortunate truth. Twilight prodded one of the clouds adhering to her balloon with a hoof. It stuck to her hoof and then sprung back. The clouds were holding the craft in place. "It's okay." Twilight said with releif. "I can just use a spell to clear all this up." Twilight's horn glowed and she unleashed a magic beam at the nearest cloud. The beam exploded in a flash but the cloud remained. Twilight's heart sank. "Oh no," she said mournfully. "The clouds resist magic? If only we had a pegasus here who could-" Rarity was about to finish that sentence when a glare from Twilight stopped her. The glare quickly turned into a trembling lip. Twilight looked as though she as about to break into tears. "What are you blubbering for maggot?" Pinkie asked. She know wore the combat helmet and it seemed to have changed her into a minature pony George S. Patton. She marched over to the cotton candy cloud. "We're not staying stuck to this cotton candy for another cotton candy-pickin' moment! There's only one way out of this!" Pinkie declared as she opened her mouth wide and took a bite out of the nearest cloud. She followed that bite with another and then another. Before long, an entire cloud disappeared. "Tastes like victory!" Pinkie said, patting her stomach. She continued trying to eat the craft free of the cotton candy bank of clouds. This attempt lasted about another minute and a half before the pink pony slumped to cabin of the balloon, covered in pink cotton residue from mane to tail. "I can't... I can't make it sarge." Pinkie said to Twilight who stood by her, perplexed. "It's too much. I didn't sign up for this." she gasped. Instantly, she'd changed from confident and courageous general to shell-shocked and traumtized footsoldier. "It's okay Pinkie," Twilight said, trying to comfort her friend despite her own confusion. "You... you did your best. We couldn't ask for anything more." "Why, yes." Rarity agreed. "You gave those clouds your all. That one never stood a chance, why, you walked all over it." That gave Twilight an idea. "The cloudwalking spell! Of course! We can use that to walk the rest of the way to Canterlot!" "You mean... I didn't have to eat all those clouds?" Pinkie asked. "Um... I guess not." Twilight admitted. Pinkie's gaze dropped to the floor. "We had bad intel. All those men lost... for nothing." Twilight didn't know what to say. She decided once again that nothing would be exactly the thing to say. Looking over to Rarity, she saw that she had chosen to do the same. "So, give me a moment to cast the cloudwalking spell and we can get going." Twilight said. Pinkie got up off the floor slowly. "It's just like they told us back at the academy. War is hay." > Alternate Chapter 11: Megasus > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Presented in Flim-Flam-O-Vision, you may now put on your Flim-Flam Viewing Goggles. The following chapter is dedicated to anypony who has danced in public. Boogey on my brothers and sisters. This chapter is also designed to be a conversation starter at parties and social gatherings and/or to be shouted out loud at random. "Gah! Please don't eat me! I have a house, a job, neighbors! Please, eat them first!" the stallion begged before the giant Fluttershy. Fluttershy gritted her teeth and snorted. She was getting angry. The stallion cowering in the road in front of her was just like all the others. They screamed, ran in terror before she even had a chance to ask for directions. "I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHERE THE NEAREST FLORIST IS!" she said with her jaw firmly clenched. Still, the pony remained quaking in fear in her shadow. She stepped over him and kept walking. As she passed him, she stomped one of her rear hooves into the ground, sending a shockwave through the cobblestone street. The road lifted up as motion surged through it, the force pushed the stallion like a wave. He screamed as he was carried down the street like an object being carried by a tidal wave. Fluttershy grinned as she heard his cries for help. "Fluttershy! Stop right there!" a voice called from behind her. Fluttershy turned and was more than a little suprised to see Rainbow Dash galloping towards her with Luna and Discord hovering close by. Discord appeared to be holding some sort of camera. "Let me guess. Twilight Stupid hit you with a size spell too didn't she?" the deharmonized Fluttershy asked. "She hit all of us, Fluttershy. You, me, all of Cloudsdale. We have to get you back there so we can change you back to normal." "No!" Fluttershy yelled. "What?" The gray pegasus' mouth spread into a sinister grin and her eyes began to narrow. "I like being this big. It's very... liberating." Rainbow Dash knew Fluttershy wasn't being herself but she had to reach her somehow. "Why would you want to stay this big Fluttershy? What about your animals? What about your garden? You won't be able to take care of anything being this size." "Oh but I will." Fluttershy took a step towards Rainbow Dash. Discord giggled to himself. He looked up from the camera for a moment. "Oh this is wonderful. You have to admit, I do some amazing work don't I?" Luna shook her head at the remark. "You're going to change her back right?" Luna asked. "Of course, of course!" Discord nodded. "In fact, here, hold the camera. Don't stop rolling, whatever you do." Luna took the camera from Discord and levitated it in front of her using the magic. Discord gave everything a once over and decided she'd be able to get the shots he wanted. "All right, this should be perfect." he said. With a swift movement, he hid inside Rainbow Dash's mane and held on to the stalks of multi-colored hair. Things were about to get bumpy. "You see Rainbow," Fluttershy began, taking another step forward. "The whole world is my garden now. I'm going to stomp every floral shop in Canterlot into the ground, take the seeds and then spread them all over Equestria!" "You... you've gone mad!" Rainbow said. "Every critter, every creature, every kind of animal in Equestria will be mine to care for! Together, we shall rise up and overthrow you foalish pony overlords and your incompetent magical nonsense!" "You're not yourself Fluttershy! You have to come back to Cloudsdale with me now! Don't make me do this the hard way!" Rainbow said, taking another step back. She accidentally bumped her flank into a building. The street was for some reason beginning to feel very small as the gray pegasus approached her. Rainbow Dash's back was literally against the wall. "Oh but this is me, Rainbow. A new me, a better me. At first, it was kind of crazy and even a little frightening but I've learned now... it's fun being Fluttersized." Fluttershy said, advancing slowly but steadily. "Fluttershy," Rainbow said, more confidence in her voice than she was feeling. "If you don't come back with me now, I'll be forced to-" "Forced to do what? You don't want to fight me Rainbow Dash. Your poor little friend Fluttershy? We're both so big, we might hurt all these innocent little ponies. And we wouldn't want that... would we?" Fluttershy was right; Rainbow Dash was afraid of hurting the city. But she knew just the way to protect Canterlot so she could subdue Fluttershy. "Well, I know what Applejack would say if she was here." Rainbow Dash said. "Oh? And what's that? 'Tarnation, them sure are two big ponies over thar! I wunder how many apples they could haul! Maybe there's sum giant apple trees that need buckin!'" Fluttershy said, mocking their friend. "I was thinking something more like, this town ain't big enough for the two of us!" Rainbow lunged at the giant Fluttershy and knocked her to the street. Dust was thrown up and the pavement was smashed. Several buildings nearby shook. Before Fluttershy could recover from being tackled, Rainbow lifted her up into the air, using her powerful well-trained and excercised wings to carry both ponies soaring into the skies above. "Now princess! Throw up a shield!" Rainbow Dash shouted. Luna only hesitated for a split-second before she summoned her magical power to produce a spell. Her horn glowed dark blue and shot up a spark. The spark exploded in the sky and from it bloomed fourth a wave of energy that enveloped all of Canterlot in a blue bubble. Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were both outside. Fluttershy tossed Rainbow Dash off her before she could turn her around. The two of them landed on the blue energy shield. Fluttershy prodded it with a hoof, it bounced off the shield. "Clever Dashie. Very clever. But I bet this shield doesn't go under the mountain." Fluttershy said with a laugh, lifting off of the blue shield. She was going to try to burrow under the shield to get back into the city. "We should've levitated Canterlot and put it into a ball, then shielded it." Discord commented. "I'm making this up as I go along!" Rainbow Dash said, echoing the author's thoughts. "Just be ready to change her back." Rainbow took off as well and chased after the gray pegasus. They raced down the length of the shield heading towards the base. "What's the matter Rainbow Brash? Your huge size slowing you down?" Fluttershy taunted. Rainbow Dash ignored it, the advantage was hers now. Almost in a straight dive, Rainbow Dash zoomed towards Fluttershy. The gray pegasus showed genuine surprise, she hadn't thought this through. The rainbow pegasus and the jolly gray giant jerk collided in midair and Rainbow tackled her into the ground. The shield actually shook, ripples rose through it like it was made of gelatin. Somewhere in the clouds high above, Twilight, Rarity and Pinkie Pie reached a position directly over the city of Canterlot. > Alternate Chapter 12: Big Break > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Twilight, Pinkie Pie and Rarity arrived in position over Canterlot a lot sooner than they expected thanks to the Cloudwalking spell. Twilight didn't know what she was going to do about her balloon, still stuck in the cotton candy clouds but she couldn't worry about that now. The three of them looked over the edge of one of the clouds to the castle town below. Far below. "Uhm, Twilight?" Pinkie asked, as the three of them gazed in momentary awe. "Yes Pinkie?" Twilight responded in a tired voice. "How are we going to get down?" The realization stunned Twilight; there was no way for them to get back to the ground safely. She felt like she was going to collapse right there on the clouds. They were stuck up in the sky. "I... I don't know." Twilight said, defeated. "Come on Twilight!" Pinkie said, trying to be encouraging. "We'll think of something! Why don't we go back to the balloon? Maybe there's a rope?" Twilight thought for a minute. "Even if we took all the balloon's ties, strung them together and hung them over the side, I still don't think it would be long enough for us to climb down to the surface safely." Rarity put a hoof to her chin. "If only there were something soft we could land on. Cushion the fall." "Rarity, that's a great idea! I can perform a spell and summon something for us to land on right before we hit the ground!" Twilight said. "What will we land on? Don't you need something to make a cushion out of before you can make a spell out of it?" Rarity asked. Twilight looked over at Pinkie. "You still got that cheese Pinkie?" Pinkie just nodded and pulled out her combat helmet. There were still cheese wedges in it. "We're going to use the cheese." "How are we going to land on the cheese Twilight?" Pinkie asked, holding up the cheese. Twilight paused for a moment. "I'm going to use the size-changing spell." she said. Rarity paused herself before she asked, "Are you sure you're familiar enough with that spell?" "Yes. Yes I am." Twilight assured her. There was only confidence in her voice. "Pinkie, hold on to that cheese." "Yes ma'am." Pinkie said, clutching the helmet. Twilight approached the edge of the clouds. "All right. When the ground is in range, I'll use the size changing spell on the... cheese. We'll get on top of it and use it to cushion the impact. We ready?" Pinkie Pie and Rarity took to either side of Twilight. Rarity swallowed hard. "Ready." they both said. "On three." Twilight began to count down. "One... two... thre-" before she could finish, something burst through the clouds beneath them. The three ponies were knocked off the clouds and began to plummet prematurely. Pinkie's helmet was knocked from her hooves... and the cheese scattered out. The three ponies screamed as they fell. Behind them, a blonde-maned giant gray pegasus looked around, thinking she had heard something. Deciding that it must've been her imagination, Derpy continued to Canterlot to deliver the mail. Just because she was a giant didn't mean she didn't have a job to do. She hadn't quite thought things out though; if she did, she'd have realized that none of her letters would fit in any of the town's mailboxes at the present time. Still, she continued on. With any luck, she would be back in Cloudsdale to return to normal size with the rest of the pegasi. For now, she focused on the task at hoof. "Twilight!" Pinkie yelled. "I lost the cheese! What do we do now?!" "This is why we should've used the wing spell! We always should've used the wing spell! Oh my Celestia, no!" Rarity panicked in midair. The air blazed by them as they tumbled downward. Twilight spread her legs out to slow her descent, Rarity and Pinkie followed suit. Her heart began to race as she looked down and saw the city of Canterlot growing closer and closer into view. "I... I think I can teleport us right before we hit the ground!" Twilight said. "That should stop our momentum!" "Are you sure that'll work Twilight?" Rarity asked back. "What choice do we have? Just be ready!" Twilight shouted. She narrowed her gaze to focus on the ground below. Tears formed in the corners of her eyes but still she kept her eyesight on the ground, blinking away the stinging sensation. Two figures appeared above the town, racing towards them. Twilight couldn't make them out at first but then she could tell they were pegasi. Giant pegasi. It almost looked like Rainbow Dash was carrying a gray pegasus into the sky. "Hey!" Twilight called to Rarity and Pinkie Pie. "I think that's Rainbow Dash and Flutter-" the two giant pegasi raced past Twilight. A blue light of some sort followed them. Twilight only saw it for a split second before it exploded in the distance between Twilight and Rarity. A blue energy shield spread fourth from the spell instantly and Rarity and Pinkie landed on it. Twilight, unfortunately, was past the point where the shield had exploded fourth. She continued falling helplessly to the city below. She'd been flipped as the giant pegasi went by. Looking up, she saw the blue shield spread out to envelope the entire city. A shield spell, blue. Who could've cast it? Rarity and Pinkie weren't safe however; Twilight saw clearly the two small figures began sliding on the curve of the shield, sliding off of it. Her mood turned to panic once again but the realization she was still in danger kept her mind focused on her own safety. She turned herself over in midair. The ground raced towards Twilight. The buildings, streets, structures were now clearly visible. Her heart pounded. What was she going to do about Rarity and Pinkie Pie? Was that really Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy she saw? Was Fluttershy gray? What was that blue flash? What had knocked them off the cloud in the first place? How was she going to solve any of this? The questions hounded her relentlessly as she fell, she did her best to push them out of her ever-worrying mind. She could make out the cobblestone road now. She focused on it, closed her eyes and began to focus on the teleportation spell. She literally had only one shot at this. She gritted her teeth and teleported. In the blink of an eye, Twilight went from mere meters off the ground, to standing right on it. Her movement vanished and she stood for a brief moment before collapsing onto the street, overcome with relief and exhaustion. Quickly, her relief ended when she remembered Pinkie and Rarity still high above her, above the city, sliding off the shield. But in fact, Pinkie was enjoying herself as she slid down the shield, despite the danger. Rarity on the other hoof, was not. Twilight couldn't see either of them as she stood in the middle of the street and looked up at the shield. "Get that stuff loaded up! Let's get going!" a voice drew her attention. Two stallions were loading up a stagecoach with what looked like filming equipment. One of them was on top of the stage looking through a camera mounted on the frame. Twilight noticed the odd angle the camera was pointing: straight up. She ran over to the stage, a team at the front harnessed in and ready to pull it. "Excuse me but I need to borrow this stage coach right now!" Twilight announced. The stallion at the camera looked up and over at her. He was a light brown with a dark mane, wore sunglasses and a beret. He raised an eyebrow and pulled down the glasses as he looked at the mysterious unicorn. "You can't really borrow studio equipment. I mean, seriously do you have any idea what this stuff-" "Please, my friends are in danger! I need to get to the edge of the city, now!" Twilight interrupted, her voice anxious. A loud series of knocks came from the inside of the stagecoach. "She just needs a ride Michael, we're going there anyway." a voice came from inside. "All right, we're heading to the edge of town anyway so you can ride in the stage. And you're in luck because we're in a hurry too. Now get in!" he said. "Thank you, thank you so much." Twilight said as she climbed aboard. The cabin inside was cramped with equipment but she found a seat. A white colt with a dark brown mane was inside, he looked up at her and nodded as she sat down. Only moments later, the pony on the camera shouted again and they began moving, at first slowly and then very quickly. "It's gonna be pretty bumpy, you might want to grab onto something." the stallion inside with her said. He appeared to be writing in some kind of notebook, his attention completely engrossed by it. Twilight braced herself and rolled down one of the windows on the stagecoach. She probably only had a matter of minutes to get to edge of the shield. "Michael!" the colt yelled. "You got cheese all over my story!" "Yeah Barro, sorry about that. Salad was good though." Michael's voice came back. The white stallion flipped through the notebook frustratedly. "What am I going to do with this cheese all over my story?!" "Why don't you just try to write it in? Use it as like a recurring thing or something." "I guess I'm going to have to now." Barro replied. "Is there anyway this thing can go faster?" Twilight asked, worrying about the fate of her friends. "Everything is going to be fine." he said back. "Everything is going to be fine?!" Twilight asked in almost shock. "Everything is going to be fine." Barro repeated calmly. Twilight wasn't convinced. "How can you say that? How can you know?" she asked. "I don't. But it feels good to say. You should try saying it sometime. Or even singing it." he answered. Twilight was going to ask something else when the stagecoach stopped abruptly. "We're here! Shakey, get out numbers three and four and-" Michael began giving out orders to the other stallion. Twilight opened the door and jumped out. She looked up at the shield, trying to see her friends. Right in front of her, two giant pegasi slammed into the ground, throwing up a cloud of dust outside the shield. The ground shook beneath them, Twilight ignored it and focused on scanning the barrier for Rarity and Pinkie. Finally, she saw them. Almost at a complete drop, they were sliding off the shield at a dangerous speed. "Oh no, oh no! We've got to stop them somehow!" Twilight said. Quickly, her mind raced, trying to find an answer to save her friends. She came up with only one answer: break the shield. Summoning all the magical energy she had to spare, she unleashed a blast at the shield. The blast wasn't much but it produced a crack. She hit it with another, and another. Outside the shield, Rainbow Dash and a gray Fluttershy continued to fight, neither one gaining the advantage. "There's too much dust! I need a better angle!" Michael shouted. Twilight climbed up on the stage and grabbed the loose reins. "Yah!" she shouted and whipped them down. The ponies pulling them responded instantly and accelerated towards the shield. The lead ones ducking down as they crashed through the barrier where Twilight had made the crack. More cracks appeared above the breach. They ran along the length of the shield up to the top. The barrier began to break apart, pieces of it fell and disintegrated in midair. The entire thing collapsed in a matter of moments. Twilight looked up and saw Pinkie Pie and Rarity in free fall, coming right towards them. Twilight looked around for anything to try to use to catch them. From the open door of the stage coach, the other stallion tossed a notebook into the air. Seeing it sailing overhead, Twilight zapped it with the book with the size-changing spell instantly transforming the padded notebook into a supersized and soft tome. Rarity and Pinkie Pie landed safely as the pages cushioned their impact. Michael Hay and Shakey came running up from behind with a camera. The two of them stopped and panted. "Tell me you got that." Michael asked Shakey. The camerapony nodded assuredly and emphatically. "Oh thank goodness." Michael said, releived. Barro stepped out of the stage and walked over to Shakey. Almost completely expressionless, he removed the lens cap from the camera exposing the aperture. Shakey had successfully managed to film the inside of the lens cap that obscured the camera from quite possibly one of the most action-packed sequences Canterlot had seen since Shining Armor's and Princess Cadence's wedding. Michael Hay slapped his hoof to his face. Twilight climbed up on the giant notebook. Rarity and Pinkie Pie were both dazed in the center of the pages. "Do it again! Do it again!" Pinkie said, dizzy. Twilight ran over and hugged both of her friends, overjoyed that they both were unharmed. Her eyes teared up, so did theirs. > Alternate Chapter 13: Big Brawl > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I'm... I'm so happy you're both okay." Twilight said, hugging Rarity and Pinkie Pie tighter as they stood on the giant notebook. A low rumble in the distance drew the group's attention. They still had the problem of the two fighting pegasi who had now apparently moved the brawl back into the city. "Twilight Sparkle!" a voice called from overhead. Luna descended down to the ground in front of them. "Princess Luna! I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, I just-" Twilight began apologizing profusely. "You destroyed my barrier, you gigantified your friends and put all of Equestria in danger! You... you..." Luna continued. Twilight hung her head low, she didn't know what to say. "I'm sorry Princess... I don't deserve to-" "You mastered the size-changing spell." Luna remarked. Twilight perked up, unsure of what she meant. "I what?" Luna walked over to the oversized notebook and tapped it with a hoof. "You've mastered sizing magic. You performed the spell on a moving target, executed it perfectly and used it to save your friends." Twilight turned back to Pinkie and Rarity, still standing the middle of the pages. "I did?" she asked. They both nodded at her; it was the truth. They literally stood on evidence of her successful casting of the size-altering spell. "Wow, I really did do it didn't I?" she remarked at her work, looking down at the pages underneath her feet. "I guess I was casting the spell right after all!" Twilight said, relieved that she'd been performing the spell correctly all along. "You certainly were. My sister was right to entrust you with our very first spellbook." Luna said with a soft smile. "Uh," Pinkie spoke up. "Not to ruin the moment but shouldn't we be trying to get the pegasi back to normal size?" As if on cue as Pinkie Pie mentioned it, a loud crash caught their attention. "Fluttershy! What's wrong with you?!" Rainbow Dash asked as Fluttershy tackled her into a block of buildings. The shield had been broken, by what Fluttershy didn't know and didn't care. The two giant pegasi tumbled through streets and rows of buildings in town. The ones they landed on were smashed to pieces, others were bumped by their large bodies and fell over, knocking others over in the process and creating a domino effect. Rainbow Dash pushed Fluttershy off of her, the gray pegasus fell onto a building across the street from the ones they'd just destroyed. Fluttershy landed on a smaller building, turning it to dust in an instant. As the dust settled, she caught a glimpse of what store she was standing in. Fruits, vegetables, plants and other forms of produce were crushed beneath her hooves. She'd just found the local florist's... and she'd destroyed it. She groaned in frustration, letting out an angry growl as she stomped a hoof into the ground. Rainbow Dash lunged at Fluttershy and tackled her into another building. They both crashed through it, turning the walls, roof and floors of a department store into chunks of rubble. It was strange that there weren't any ponies occupying any of these structures as the two megasi continued to destroy the buildings in Canterlot. Discord, still holding on to Rainbow Dash's mane for dear life, was waiting for the moment that Rainbow had Fluttershy pinned to change her back. The two giant pegasi struggled on the ground amongst the ruins of the department store. The two pegasi were evenly matched; Rainbow Dash was a star athelete but Fluttershy, experienced in caring for large animals and occaisonally roughhousing with them was well-versed in this kind of close-quarters engagement. Rainbow's stamina was a bit higher than Fluttershy's though and it was beginning to show. Fluttershy kicked Rainbow off her again before she could pin her. Using the moment though, Rainbow braced with her wings and used the push to launch her into flight. Using her wings, she dove towards Fluttershy who was still on the ground, refusing to let her get back to her feet. Rainbow turned her over and used her own legs to press her hooves against the ground. Fluttershy thrashed but Rainbow's limbs held her in place. Discord walked out from Rainbow Dash's mane. and down her right foreleg onto Fluttershy. "And along came Discord." the draconequus said, about to press a thumb against her forehead. But Fluttershy wasn't quite done yet, she turned her head quickly and Discord fell off. Rainbow was distracted for just a moment, allowing Fluttershy to get a free hoof. Pushing against Rainbow Dash's shoulder, she rolled Rainbow Dash and the two tumbled again, this time on to Discord. The draconequus tried to run but wasn't quite fast enough. The two giant ponies flattened him into the ground, their combined weight crushing him like an insect. The two continued to roll into the street as Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, Pinkie Pie and Luna approached the ruined building. "Discord! Discord!" Luna yelled as she ran up to him. "Are you all right?" Discord's eyes swirled in a daze. "I'm ready for my close-up Mr. Hay!" he said, incoherent. "Discord! Get up! Get up!" Twilight grabbed and shook his head, as if that would somehow bring him back to clarity. His mouth hung open and he gargled something incoherent. "It's no use!" Twilight said, releasing him. Discord dropped back into the crater he'd been flattened in with a dull thud. "How are we going to reharmonize Fluttershy now?" "I know!" Pinkie Pie said. "We'll build a trap. First, we need some cheese, a tank, the alicorn amulet, King Sombra-" :Rarity started to say, "Pinkie, that would require King Sombra to get-" "WAIT!" Discord yelled, shooting a claw up into the air. "Take this." he said, and used his other hand to remove his paw. It came off like a glove, underneath it was the same paw. "All you have to do is press the thumb to her forehead for a few seconds." Twilight grabbed the glove-paw with her magic. "This will reharmonize her?" "Sure, why not? he asked, before collapsing into the ground again. "All right." Twilight said, turning. "All we have to do is get close enough to her and set her back to normal. Then, we can all fly to Cloudsdale and get everypony back to normal size. Let's get going!" Twilight Sparkle led her friends down the street in the direction that Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were still fighting. This was it, they could finally put everything back the way it was. Twilight narrowed her eyes as she galloped. She was determined to set everything right, for once, there wasn't a single other thought in her mind. > Alternate Chapter 14: Big Heroes > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy were both exhausted. A good portion of the southern side of Canterlot had been flattened by them fighting. They now stood across from each other, taking deep breaths and waiting for the other to make a move. Their coats, manes and bodies were bruised, scuffed and covered in debris. Of course, it was harder to tell where Fluttershy'd been scraped because she was gray. "Why... don't... you... just leave... me alone?" Fluttershy asked between huffs. "This... this isn't you... Fluttershy... we have to get you back." "I don't want to go back!" "Why... why not?" Fluttershy stomped the pavement again. "I'm through talking about this! You're not cutting me down to size again!" Fluttershy flapped her wings and took off from the ground. Rainbow leapt at her, grabbing one of her legs and pulling her down. They both dropped onto street. Fluttershy's face scraped the side of several buildings as she slid along the street, her outstretched left wing bisected the same buildings. Half a city block was transformed into dust and rubble, buildings turned into piles and poured into the streets. "Let go of me!" Fluttershy shouted, trying to shake Rainbow Dash off. Rainbow didn't let go though, despite both their lack of energy Fluttershy still struggled and Rainbow held fast onto her hindlegs. "Fluttershy!" Twilight called, approaching them fast from down the street. Fluttershy let out an exasperated, heavy sigh. "Buck me... what does purple want now? How did it get here?" Twilight didn't know what that meant. It wasn't Fluttershy, just Discord's magic. Magic she could undo. "Fluttershy! I've got Discord's... glove... paw, thingy! I can change you back! We can end all of this!" "NO!" Fluttershy screamed. "Get it away from me! I don't want to go back! You can't make me go back!" She continued struggling against Rainbow Dash's grasp on her but her energy was ebbing. Her gray body and main matched the color of the pavement beneath her, the shade of the buildings and the color of the piles of rubble around her. "She's not herself! Don't listen!" Rainbow yelled. "What's the use." Fluttershy asked, ceasing her thrashing. "Nothing ever changes anyway." Curiosity would get the better of Twilight one last time it would seem. "What do you mean Fluttershy?" "Nothing ever changes. You're still a panicky narcissist, our friends are still crazy and I'm still too shy to ever say what I really feel... or even get noticed. The only reason you're paying attention to me now is because I'm too big too ignore." Pinkie put a hoof to her chin. "Didn't we already have an episode where you stood up for yourself?" Rarity nodded in agreement, Luna raised an eyebrow. "It's not the same. No matter what happens, problems like these will just keep popping up. Things will keep getting worse and worse until... until cities start getting destroyed." Fluttershy said. Twilight looked around her. She was right; all of this had pretty much still happened because Twilight... behaved like Twilight. Her worrying hadn't solved the problem, Fluttershy's timidness had caused her to flee to Canterlot, fighting with Rainbow Dash had destroyed nearly half the city and their other friends hadn't helped the situation... it could be said their involvement had made things worse. "It's just going to keep happening like this Twilight. One big problem after another is going to come our way... and ponies are going to get hurt just because we're involved. We're the giants. Megasi, Unicolossus, Alicolossus, Earthnormous Ponies, insert other giant pony species name pun here, hint and sequel, trail off as gaze drops to the side, joke about King Sombra and screentime." Fluttershy said. Fluttershy's friends were silent. They were all at a loss for words... even Pinkie Pie, her mouth firmly shut as the implications of the facts Fluttershy revealed pressed heavily on her adorable pink mind. A party would not fix this... but she planned one anyway. Regardless of what size everypony was in when this was over. She thought about inviting King Sombra... then quickly corrected herself. It would've required him to get screentime. Rarity thought about her lack of patience. The argument with Trixie is what had frightened Fluttershy off in the first place. Rarity felt partially responsible too. She knew a bit about size-altering magic but she'd never tried it on anything larger than threads. Still, she'd tried to help, tried to be suggestive and supportive. She didn't know what else to do. Rainbow Dash was still holding Fluttershy. She looked around to the damage they'd caused, that they'd both caused. She'd done everything she could and still it hadn't been good enough. She was fast but she wasn't perfect and it showed. She'd underestimated Fluttershy under Discord's influence and the Canterlot had payed the price. She'd tried to get the problem over with quickly... but there are some things she just couldn't get through like it was a race. Luna had let Fluttershy's little insults get the better of her. It had once again brought out her bad side, Nightmare Moon, and her frustration had mirrored Twilight's though she reacted on it much differently. She should've gone to get her sister but pride had blinded her. She was partially guilty for the destruction of Canterlot as well, despite the fact she'd done everything to save the town. Everything except rely on her big sister, which she should've done. Twilight thought back to all the things she'd been through with Fluttershy and their friends since she'd moved to Ponyville. Fluttershy was absolutely right; one thing after another had happened mostly because of them. Ponies just trying to live their lives in peace had been put in danger because of what had happened many times before and would likely happen again. But she realized something else: they'd also overcome every single challenge, every obstacle no matter how big. "You're right Fluttershy." Twilight said. Fluttershy's gaze drifted over to Twilight. "You're right. A lot of things do happen to us... and even become bigger problems just because we're involved. But we always get through them, together. Because we're a team Fluttershy. Because we're friends." "What happens when you finally do come across something that's too big to handle? Even for all of us?" Fluttershy asked, casting doubt one last time. Twilight smiled. "I'll be ready when that day comes. Until then, no matter how many problems we get into, no matter how big, I'll try to look for the bright side... and learn to appreciate the little things." she galloped up to Fluttershy to press the thumb of the glove onto her forehead. But she didn't have to. Fluttershy was smiling too. Her color slowly returned over her body on its own, Twilight's words alone had been enough. "Oh... ohhhhhh... oh my... my head." Fluttershy said, trying to stand. Rainbow Dash released her slowly and the two stood. "Thank you... thank you all so much. I'm sorry. I'm sorry about everything." "I'm sorry too Fluttershy." Twilight said. "But it's going to be okay now. Everything is going to be fine." "Says you." Discord said from behind them. "I shot the BEST action sequences I think I've ever seen. It was gorgeous, it was chaotic, it was... kickass. Now it's all ruined by a cliche'd ending." "Cliches are pretty fun sometimes Discord. It's kinda like chaos. Sometimes, it's out of place and can be really random... but sometimes it can be fun too. Just as long as you put them in the right place." Fluttershy encouraged him. "Oh whatever." Discord said. "We all know this is before the episode you reform me meaning you're going to put me back in stone when this is over." "Looking forward to it!" Twilight said with a huge grin. She still hadn't forgotten it was Discord that had turned Fluttershy gray and started this alternate storyline in the first place. "Ha-ha." Discord laughed sarcastically. "So let's get going back to Cloudsdale so we can get this over with." "Sounds good to me." they all made similar remarks in agreement. > Alternate Story Epilogue: A little encouragement > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luna, Discord, Twilight Sparkle, Rarity and Pinkie Pie all rode to Cloudsdale on the backs of Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy. They landed in the center of the city, still giant-sized after Twilight's magic had struck it. Princess Celestia, the size of a hummingbird amongst the giant pegasi, flew over to them as they disembarked. "Princess!" Twilight said, galloping over. "Hello Twilight, hello everypony." she greeted them warmly. "What took you all so long?" "Sister, much of Canterlot is in ruin. Much rebuilding will be required." "Oh?" Celestia asked. "What happened?" "Princess Celestia... I..." Twilight began. "It was my fault Princess." Rainbow Dash spoke up. "I fought Fluttershy in the city. I should've just tried to talk to her... or went to go find you. Or something. I'm sorry. It's my fault." "No." Rarity spoke up. "If I hadn't let Trixie make me angry, none of this would've happened in the first place. She wouldn't even have gone to Canterlot. I'm to blame." "No." Luna said. "I let my temper get the better of me too. I only made things worse, trying to chase after her, trying to change her back on my own. I let Canterlot be damaged... even the castle. It's clear I'm not even fit to rule in your abscence." "It was my fault." Fluttershy said. "I should've just stayed by my friends' side. I should've-" "Stop it, just stop it!" Twilight yelled out. "It was all our faults. We all could've done better, there's something we all could've done to fix this sooner but we didn't. But we never stopped trying. All of us, we all tried to solve this problem... for me. Even you Fluttershy. You tried to go to Princess Celestia. That's why you were on your way to Canterlot in the first place. You didn't run away from a confrontation. You were just trying to get help. Like we all should've done from the beginning." Princess Celestia smiled again. "Sometimes we all want to solve problems our own way Twilight, especially big ones. But sometimes you need a little help from your friends, even if it's just a little encouragement." Twilight practically had tears in her eyes. Celestia always knew just what to say. "Thank you Princess." Twilight whispered. "Now, it's time for us to set everything back to normal... or normal size at least." Celestia said to her student. Twilight nodded. All across Cloudsdale, the megasi assembled. Derpy was last, her bag was still full of mail. It hadn't taken her long to realize that the packages were a little large today. They gathered in the center of Cloudsdale, Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy in the center of the massive megasi herd. Twilight nervously went over the spell one last time in her head. Her friends and both princess were behind her, there for her. "You can do it Twilight." they encouraged her. The purple unicorn's horn glowed with the mysterious power of the size-changing spell. "All right everypony. Say cheese!" A flash of purple light enveloped Coudsdale and covered the sky. In a blink, the spell had finished. Cloudsdale was returned to its normal size and the pegasi along with it. They stretched their wings and flew about enthusastically, relieved that the clouds around them were back to their regular size again. Twilight and the rest of the group galloped over to hug Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash, a hug that was just the right size. "A lot happened Princess. I'll be sure to write you a letter about it later." Twilight said. "Why write a letter?" Discord said, wearing a pair of sunglasses as he walked amongst the crowds. "You write enough letters Twilight. I caught the whole thing on film! Let's watch the movie!" 3 and a half hours of bad puns, shakey camera angles and King Sombra not getting screen time later... "That was the worst film I think I've ever seen." Rarity said, exiting the theater in Cloudsdale. "Oh come on." Discord moaned. "It wasn't that bad. Look what I had to work with. Magic ponies. Who could write an interesting story about this?" "I'll get started on that letter right away Princess." Twilight said to Celestia as they strode by with Luna. Celestia nodded but didn't even turn to look at Discord, neither did Luna. "Yeah, the camera was so shakey I couldn't see most of the action." Rainbow Dash remarked, flying past. "How can you think that WHEN YOU WERE IN IT?!" Discord facepalmed. "Eh, too much fourth-wall humor in it for me." Pinkie said as she bounced by. "How can you say that? No, seriously how can YOU say that?" Discord asked in disbelief. Shocked, apalled, that's how he felt. Everypony's a critic. Finally, one pony was left. She quietly walked up beside him. "I don't know Discord. I kind of liked it." Fluttershy said. Discord looked over to her, surprised. "You... you did?" "Mm-hm. And I'm sure your next film will be even better!" Fluttershy said, giving him a little encouragement. "Here's your glove." "Oh, thanks." He'd almost forgotten about it. He popped it back on his paw. It fit... like a glove. He thought about something and then snapped his fingers. "Here." he said and presented her with a camera. She looked at it, unsure. "You want me to keep this for you?" "No, just hold onto it for me. I'll be back for it soon!" Discord gave Fluttershy a big kiss that froze her face and then he disappeared into the night sky. Fluttershy rubbed a hoof on her cheek and smiled softly, thinking to herself. She then trotted down the streets of Cloudsdale for the second time that day. She decided that while she was there, she'd see if the florist was still open and maybe buy some new seeds. Meanwhile, back in Canterlot... It took Barro and Michael Hay hours to get back to where the stagecoach carrying Michael's equipment was. The city was a mess, the roads in the southern half of town were blocked by debris. When they finally got back to the spot where the stage was, the ponies pulling it had all removed their harnesses and were over by the giant-sized notebook, still lying in the grass. "Looks like your story did find an audience Barro." Michael commented at the ponies reading. Barro nodded. "I guess so." "How are we going to get that book back to normal size?" Michael asked. "Maybe I'll keep it this size. Who knows? Might be useful as a plot device." Michael Hay smiled. "Now that's an interesting idea."
