The Contest
People walk the streets of Canterlot and who wouldn’t on a bright sunny day. You are one of them but you sat on a bench and you’re at the park. Today was supposed to be you spending time with your stepbrother Frostbite, about how you realize you had a stepsibling is a story for another time. Now here you are about to stroll the park and couldn’t think of something to do but another problem is that you don’t want to attract attention for you somehow have a bit of less self confidence.
“I guess I better go home.” You thought and that is when you’re about to pass a lamp post.
You stopped for a moment as a poster was pasted on the lamp post itself that caught your eyes. On the poster were Kiwi Lollipop and Supernova Zap, your favorite band PostCrush, will be performing here at Canterlot Park this coming weekend. In addition to their performance it also says that they will hold a singing contest after and the winner will get to spend the entire day with PostCrush themselves.
The event that will be held pumped you up since you really want to meet them up close after listening to their songs. One problem is that you never experience any love life yet and this is one of the reasons why you don’t have any self confidence when going out with girls. You quickly head on home to start practicing and how lucky you are that school is out and you got the whole week to prepare.
Upon returning to your step brother's house where you are staying, you are busy browsing through your phone which song you will sing at the contest. You can’t decide for it wasn’t indicated in the poster a specific genre of song to use. You cannot miss this opportunity if you are lucky or the opposite.
It wasn’t long until you heard the sound of a vehicle outside the house. You go look and see Frostbite parking his van and he brings a girl with him. You recall your step brother showing you a picture of him with his girlfriend, Pinkie Pie was her name for you to meet her. Your mouth felt dry for a moment and you went downstairs to the kitchen.
“So I think of a chimichanga but how about we use cherries instead and I call it chimicherry or about cherrychanga oh hi Frostbite’s step brother. So what do you think? Chimicherry or cherrychanga? Chimicherry, cherrychanga-”
You were surprised that Frostbite’s girlfriend knew who you are even though he said before he hadn't mentioned you to her yet. Now you’re even wondering how your step sibling can handle her, not that you dislike it.
“You are going to enter PostCrush’s singing contest!? Hey about going through all that trouble why don’t I just introduce you to them since Sunset and I-”
“If you’re going to, how about I prefer something warm for you to drink instead and keep you away from carbonated drinks.”
How did those two know you will be entering the contest since you haven’t brought that up. You turned around and saw the poster Frostbite’s hand with his other hand covering Pinkie Pie’s mouth, realizing upon arriving you passed by the kitchen earlier to grab something to eat but you changed your mind and placed the poster on the table and forgot to take it with you.
“Yes I am,” You said then you recall what Pinkie said. “Hold on, so you were close to PostCrush themselves?”
“Yeah it just starts when me, Sunset Shimmer and the others are at the Starswirl Festival and that’s when we which I mean me and Sunset found out they have a magic artifact called the Time Twirler to restart the day over and over again-”
“Pinkie you don’t need to tell everything that happened, I doubt he will understand.” Frostbite said while sorting out the groceries he brought with him which made you wonder what he meant that you will not understand.
“Sorry Frosty! About me knowing K-Lo and Su-Z how about I call them right now!” She said after taking her phone out from her hair.
“NO!!” You stopped her. “Sorry, I don’t want any shortcuts and I don't want them to think I’m just another fan wanting to meet them upfront. Thanks for the offer but I prefer to do this fair and square by winning that singing contest.”
“Oohhhhh…If say so.” The bubbly girl then placed her phone inside her poofy hair instead.
“Why did you put it in your hair?”
“Where?”
“In there.”
“In where?”
“There! Why did you put your phone in your hair?”
“What are we talking about?”
She is definitely weird is what’s in your mind right now. You began to doubt but you felt Frostbite’s hand on your shoulder as he whispered it's better you don’t mind or even question how she acts because he did the same thing and gave up.
“I almost forgot. Since you’ll be entering the singing contest, use this song.”
Pinkie took her phone out from her hair again. After searching for a bit she showed you the song you will use and made you listen to it if this is to your liking. You can relate to the song itself and the meaning of it also…THIS IS THE ONE.

Lucky you have the following days practicing. You do have a passion for music but you kept that to yourself because of the lack of confidence. You are nervous but joining this singing contest may change everything, you hope so.
The day of the PostCrush performance at Canterlot Park arrives. You are among the audience cheering for K-Lo and Su-Z after they sang their last song.
“Thank you all for coming tonight,” K-Lo said while waving to all her and Su-Z’s fans. “Now it’s time for the next part of the event…and that is ‘The Singing Contest’.”
“The rules are simple: You can sing any song to your liking,” Su-Z explains. “The judges will be none other than the two of us and whoever wins the contest the prize is none other than spending the whole day with us, PostCrush.”
A member of the staff called out to those who will be participating in the contest as you follow them backstage.
“Alright, you got this. Just do your best out there and if you win, you finally get to meet them. You can do it.” That is what you’ve been thinking while you are waiting for your turn. But then- “OH MY GOD I CAN’T DO THIS!!”
“Hey, kid.”
“NO, I SURRENDER!” You startled as a hand touched your shoulder only to see its one or the security guards.
“Your next.”
This is it, either you run like a wimp or face it like a man. After taking a deep breath and calming down you made your final decision.
“Okay moving on to our next contestant.”
Your name is called as you step out into the spotlight in front of all the crowd. The one who called out your name was Kiwi as Post Crush was in the middle sitting in front of the audience.
“Sunset looky, there he is! Hey, over here!”
A familiar voice called out to you. Among the crowd you see Pinkie Pie and she seems to have brought a friend with her. Too bad your step brother couldn't come for some reason leaving you by yourself, almost.
You took one deep breath for there is no turning back now. Stood up like a man as you started singing the song Pinkie chose.

After hearing the song for the first time it was a catchy one but you never expected for the crowd to sing along and you somehow pulled off the middle part of the song that involves rapping which was your first time. How lucky of you but you didn’t get cocky and kept focus with your singing.
The song finally ended and the crowd cheered. You see PostCrush very impressed and Pinkie Pie with her friend giving you a thumbs up. The contest however wasn’t over for there are a few more contestants left as you exit the stage.
You waited calmly but shaking if you had a chance of winning. As the last contestant finished with their song. You hear the voices of PostCrush as they announce the top picks of the contest for you are one of them.
“Only one of you will win this contest-” Su-Z said.
“And will get to spend a day with us.” K-Lo added.
You are excited once they call out your name. If it wasn’t for your lack of confidence and doubting yourself it then came to part of your mind that you’re expecting too much after hearing the other contestants with the songs of their choice. If you lose so be it, you did try though.
“Hey, can you hear me!”
A familiar voice is calling out to you while you are in your thoughts, as you come to your senses. Right in front of you, Kiwi Lollipop is so close that you get startled.
“You’re just standing, are you okay?”
“Sorry, I-” You don’t know what words to use as you see Su-Z, and everyone else had their eyes all on you. It’s obviously you lost and you need to get out of the way of the winner. “I guess I’ll just be off, bye.”
“Wait a minute.” K-Lo grabbed your arm, preventing you from leaving. “Where are you going?”
“I lost, didn’t I?”
“No silly, you won!” Su-Z corrected you.
“Huh?”
“I get it now.” K-Lo let go of your arm. “He is just lost for words and very excited about his prize, right?”
(THUD!)
Your mind just simply went blank and fell backwards…you fainted.
