> Tales of the Justice League > by HeliosToday > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > The Coronation 1 > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- The room was lively and full of excitement. Twilight adjusted the orange gown she wore and checked her flowing purple and pink hair in the mirror. Today was the greatest day of her life. It was going to be, she knew it. Renee Dashers zipped round the room, grabbing scissors and flowers from the stylists. She was likewise as excited about the coronation. Twilight had become one of her closest friends over the span of three years. Renee, or “Rainbow” as her friends liked to call her. She was here because she could get her ready the fastest. Which was beneficial because Jacklyn flew them there astonishingly late from their tangle with Amazo. You’d wonder if she did stuff like that on purpose. There as a knock at the door. All the assistants and surprisingly Renee stopped. Standing at the door was the awe-inspiring, enigmatic, billionaire, Tracy Marsden. She took a while to scan the environment before she slowly spoke. “If you are not supposed to be here, leave,” She growled. She’d brought that one all the way from Zebrica. The assistants screamed in fear and ran out of the room. Tracy gave one defiant one a death glare that quickly sent her packing. “Did you really have to do that?” Twilight asked with a smile. “Clothing assistants are the fakest, horniest and repulsive shits in the industry,” Tracy replied. “Yes, I did.” “I think she’s asking why you had to use the Bat-voice,” Renee clarified, continually zipping around Twilight. “Because I wanted to,” Tracy likewise clarified. The three of them had become close friends over the course of the three years they had been together. Renee would always say that the only person on the team as close to Tracy was Pinkie. “Ceremony starts at five,” Tracy stated. “That’s nice,” Renee said. “It’s 16:51.” Suddenly there was a blur around Twilight as Renee got 2 hours of aesthetic work done in 15 seconds. Tracy stood quietly observing the process. She would steal a glance at her watch every now and then. “150km/m,” Tracy observed. “New record”. Twilight gave both of her friends an exasperated look. It always amazed her how the broodiest person on the planet was so close to the most exciting and fastest woman alive. “It’s this coronation. It’s so stressful. And nerve-wracking. And panicky. And…” Twilight began to spiral. Tracy stopped her quickly. “Don’t worry about it. It’ll be okay,” Tracy assured. Tracy and Renee, having finished with Twilight’s hairdo left the room. Tracy watched a group of Royal Guards pass by and immediately switched demeanour. “This is Batwoman. Comm check” “Shazam, active” “Green Lantern, active” “Wonder Woman, active” “Aquawoman, active” “Zatanna, active” “I’m right here do I really have to say it?” Renee said quickly Tracy shot her the dirtiest of all dirty looks. “Dash, active” Jacklyn sat in the crowd of excited guests and distinguished visitors. It was bad enough that she had to stand around and keep guard. She also had to keep Pinkie from doing anything stupid. She had half a mind to just suit up and fly off to watch the proceedings from higher up. The coronation was being held in a large amphitheatre, which had been decorated which purple banners for the occasion. The seats were arranged with wealthy and distinguished guests, along with friends of the princess at the top, diplomats and other foreign representatives in the middle, and the few common people who could afford the tickets on the last few rows. Celestia stood on the circular platform, which was emblazoned with a purple triangle with a purple sun, the emblem of Equestria in the centre. She scanned the crowd and began to speak. “Throughout my life, and it’s a very long life I’ll tell you, I have met four extraordinary people. They push through adversity, master themselves and find the courage to overcome fear in all its forms. Today, I only need to mention one of them. Her name is Twilight Sparkle. “Twilight has been a joy ever since she first was brought to me by her parents. Even at her young age, she was incredibly sharp, and was always willing to take any extra work that would otherwise not have been necessary. “During Nightmare Moon’s attack, Twilight and her friends were never unwilling to take the risks and bring my sister back to us. She has done same with Chrysalis, The Storm King and numerous other threats that have bedevilled Equestria over the past decade or so. “However, all that was unable to save herself during Tirek’s attack on Canterlot. Despite the ferocity with which they attempted to fight him, he was able to drain the power of the Elements of Harmony and attempted to execute us at the annual Equestrian Christmas Parade in Fillydelphia. “That was the day Equestria changed. A champion of magic who called herself Shazam stepped up and defeated Tirek. Suddenly, our protectors were no longer the element bearers, but masked vigilantes and metahumans who were willing to put their lives on the line to defend Equestria. Twilight should have had no purpose besides being a Princess. “That’s the beauty of Twilight Sparkle. It’s her ability to adapt. She led the Metahuman and Paranormal Activity Reactionary Unit and assisted the new breed of protectors. Her first feat was working with the Batwoman in uncovering the rest of a shadowy secret organisation deeply entrenched in Gotham City and looking to have its pincers on the rest of Equestria. She also assisted evacuation efforts as Canterlot was attacked by the Neanderthal forces of Vandal Savage, and left a clear path for the Justice League to resolve the situation. “Today, I have the pleasure to transfer my ability to use the sun to Twilight, and finally reward her for all the good she has done for Equestria, her friends, and my family.” The entirety of the amphitheatre broke into riotous applause. It was filled with atmosphere and colour. Cannons shot into the sky, puncturing the air like a bullet to a windshield. “Now, the main event, the arrival of Princess Twilight Sparkle!” Announced the booming voice of PA system. The horns started to sound as she walked out onto the platform. She was adorned in a flowing orange gown. There wasn’t much to say about it. Minimalism was one of her many qualities. It was her hair that stood out. It stood about two feet about her head, and was adorned with pink flowers. Celestia, Luna and Cadence got into position on the platform. They were positioned in a triangle on the circular platform. “Twilight Sparkle. Do you accept the responsibility of ruler of Equestria, with the ability to move both sun and moon, and to look after your subjects to the best of your ability?” Celestia asked loudly, using not a microphone, but the Royal Canterlot Voice. There was a deafening silence in the amphitheatre right after Celestia asked that question. Suddenly, also using the Voice, Twilight responded. “I do.” The atmosphere crackled with excitement as the princesses stood, their hands radiating with magical energy. Celestia’s hand glowed with a bright amber aura, Luna’s was dark blue, and Cadence’s was magenta. Twilight began to levitate ten feet above the ground, and the beams of magic struck her. The atmosphere rippled with the raw power that was momentarily out in the open. Twilight rippled with the power of the yellow sun that revolved around the planet. Her body turned a vibrant, pulsating yellow, and energy radiated from her body. Suddenly a voice started to ring in her head. Twilight found herself in pitch black. The only thing she could see was herself. “Hello Twilight.” “Who is this?!” Twilight asked the invisible voice. “Just a friend.” “What do you want?” “Oh, I’m just appropriating your body for a bit. I mean, most powerful person in Equestria with very weak psychic blockers? What are you, an amateur?” “Stay away from me. I’m a Princess, dumbass. I have one of the best telepathic blockers in the space sector.” “For some odd reason, that doesn’t seem to work.” “You’ve done something.” “What do you mean? It’s much simpler than that. “You’ve got no magic.” “Would you believe me if I said our planet is the only planet in the universe that’s orbited by a Sun?” Jacklyn asked Pinkie. “That still makes no sense. No matter how many times I’ve been to space.” Pinkie replied. Scootaloo sat with the rest of the Fillydelphia Middle School crowd. They’d been given a mysterious invitation from Tracy Marsden to view the coronation. It would help the children they said. Not that anyone was complaining, but it was a bit odd. However, Scootaloo knew exactly why. She was the powerhouse. If all else failed, she only needed to say one word. Twilight began to fall gently to the ground. She was on her hands and knees, with her body slowly turning lavender again. Her eyes, however glowed green. “Are you okay?” Celestia said as she rushed to her side. “Yeah. I’m fine. Just overwhelmed that’s all,” Twilight answered in a smoother and more suave sounding tone. “It’s like that at first.” Suddenly, as Celestia started to support her weight, Twilight struck out with an elbow, turned and punched Princess Celestia.
