"When you are created between the unity between technology and biology. It's hard to say what part of you is the machine or the flesh,"

(NOT A REBOOT OF THE PROTOGEN OF EQUIS)
REWRITTEN FIRST CHAPTER

During the rebellion between their creators, many protogen's recovered their captured kin many of them were experimented on becoming the being called: Rares. Some of these 'experimented' were altered to be used as weapons against the primogenitor's enemies.

This led the way to the creation of the eclipse project, in which these experimented protogens were modified with prototype implants and modification, however during this project the results terrified the primogenitors to the point they attempted to terminate the project and the protogens that had been experimented. Before they could be terminated a rebellion group led by M1-D6 freed the eclipsed units and the rebellion gained a more tremendous boost to the cause.

After the war, the few eclipses that survived disappeared finally gaining their freedom to only maker knows where. One of these units: T4-S6 along with his ship 'the Reach II' were considered lost after their nomadic drift to explore the depths of space for a fresh start had seemly disappeared off the face of the universe.

The records tell that T4-S6 was terminated, but in reality, the unit and his ship had survived but were lost within an unexplored alien system that has the strangest solar system ever recorded.

And they weren't the only ones...

What was it like before?

Was he flesh before?

Before the makers took broken form and remolded it into what it was now?

Data drives have been erased but the faint memory still remains but only very little and scrambled.

Almost like a corrupted drive.

Doesn't manner anymore.

The peace had been made, the war was over.

For what is a soldier without a cause to fight? Or an ideal worth fighting for?

What was he now?

Without a reason to believe in something...

Was he nothing less than some wild animal?

Destined to exist without a purpose?

Snapping his head up in reaction to the sudden surge to his neocortex, in which the action awoke him from stasis causing his sensitive bare optics to slowly reboot and adjust to the low light in the chamber. Cables dangled around him while his limbless torso twitched and his breathing was regulated by more tubes running from the breathing apparatus upon his exposed face.

As the light in the chamber began to grow the unit gathered it's baring and lowered it's head to the screen that unfolded before the unit as it booted up. Information danced in front of the advanced optics that it possessed, information fired past the screen that no ordinary organic could comprehend in such a brief instant.

Yet the synthetic being comprehended each bit of date, not even having to waste another second, the cables connecting to the base of the unit's skull sent a signal to the chamber which in less than a millisecond panels opened up with servo limbs that began to assemble the unit. Cables that connected to the cyber ports on the torso where the arms and legs would be disconnected causing the pod to drip with stasis fluid and synth blood. Carefully the servo limbs of the chamber pulled out the endo-frame of legs and arms allowing the unit's the nerve-points to open up allowing the cyber tech to be installed. Upon the right limb being successfully connected to it's body, the unit clenched it's right fist while the left limb was connected allowing the unit to move it's left fingers, finally able to move.

More servo limbs emerged with more of the required parts and attaching them to the unit's body, along with a disk-shaped device lowered itself from the chamber's ceiling. Dozens of smaller servo arms moved from behind the Disk device like a spider carefully reaching for the breathing apparatus the unit had on it's face. Removing the device off softly the limbs didn't waste a second to work on installing another piece of cyber tech one that the unit couldn't live without.

The visor...

Rather than the visor of other units this one possessed a hard external shell covering the nanites, designed to withstand more direct damage than normal. This sacrificed the ability of the unit to express itself in a normal manner compared to other protogen units, however, the shell possessed the 'eye' lenses within the faceplate shell proved the closest thing for the unit to 'express' itself.

As the visor's seal was completed the rest of the unit's form was finished from it's arms, legs, and even it's tail.

The remaining cables detached while dripping with the yellow and blue liquids that had been flowing through the unit's form while in stasis. Detaching itself from the harness frame that held the unit up during it's time in statis the unit rolled it's arms adjusting the freshly attached limbs. Slowly the doors to the chamber opened allowing the unit exited the confines of the closed chamber, the unit stood up to it's full height on it's digitigrade legs.

Eyes scanned the room of the ship's stasis bay, yet out of the dozen pods, only one had an occupant.

Him...

The unit's metal claws gently tapped the floor as the unit walked exiting the bay to a hallway where it simply kept moving while the lights of the hall lit up with every step from the unit. It didn't take long for the unit to make it's way to the bridge and take a seat on the empty captain's chair while the rest of the seats remained empty.

Despite the emptiness, the unit was easily able to man this ship by itself along with the basic onboard AI system.

Upon seeing down a holographic display appeared before the unit while the visor's 'eyes' scanned the data while observing the report. Waving the screen down the unit reached a hand out to the viewscreen and right away it was turned on allowing the unit to see what the vastness of space... and the planet before them.

Standing up the unit walked to the viewscreen, the unit studied the planet from just the image displayed causing the unit to give an assumed chuckle.

"Huh... this might be interesting,"

(Ponyville)

"A little bit to the right. A little bit more," Spike waved to the two pegasi who held a banner helping the young drake and the element of laughter with the upcoming celebration party of Rainbow Dash's wonderbolt graduation. "There! Perfect thanks you two,"

The two winged ponies placed the banner and rushed off to help with something else while Spike held his hips.

"Not too shabby if I do say so," Spike boasted proudly looking at the banner he spent the past half hour on.

"Hey, spikey!" Pinkie waved with a smile. "Can you help me pick a color frosting? I can't figure out which one to pick,"

The dragon gave a chuckle however before he could go over a familiar female dragon grabbed his attention while she look extremely confused by this whole event.

"Hey smolder everything alright?" The orange dragon turned to him and gave a slight nod.

"I guess... why are you guys making a big deal over Professor Rainbow Dash's whole wonderbolt deal?" Smolder asked.

"Well being a wonderbolt is a big deal especially to her but I can get why you wouldn't get it,"

"Actually I was more referring to the whole party deal," Smolder clarified.

"What do you mean?"

"Spike since I been here there have been more parties than I've seen in my life... I mean the ponies kinda celebrate everything,"

"I don't follow,"

"Well two days back some ponies threw a party to celebrate a 'our friendship didn't fall apart' because of an argument they had and resolved it in an hour. Which then has them throw a party. I mean come on Spike that's a little weird don't you think?" Smolder explained. "Especially with what's been going on,"

Spike tilted his head at the last bit of what Smolder said.

"What you mean by that?"

"You know the whole magical rupture after Professor Twilight set off after she accidentally did that spell with Professor Starlight and that Sunburst guy,"

"Ohhhh that," Spike recalled what his fellow dragon referencing.

A few weeks ago there was an 'incident' that involved Twilight, Starlight, and Sunburst doing some research into some super-old-lost-magic-whatever. Spike didn't really understand half of it since he was more focused on his flight lessons with Smolder, but from what he was told by Starlight during their research Twilight had found an old spell that she wanted to test. This spell could allow one to open 'windows' through space to pier beyond into other worlds, kinda like the mirror from when he and Twilight went through.

However, it backfired causing a magical backlash that nearly blinded Twilight and caused a massive earthquake that was felt for miles all the way to Manehatten. Major terrain damage and a lot of people got hurt in the process but nothing too major and luckily no soul died in the mishap, however Celestia and Luna weren't too happy with Twilight although she was sorta frazzled after the experience. The trio had their magical research suspended until further notice until the whole thing died down.

So yeah it was kinda weird but it seems everypony just wants to find something to keep their minds off things...

And what better than a party?

"Eh, ponies just like parties I guess. Besides it's not all that bad as long I get my claws on those sweet-sweet cakes pinkie makes," Spike licked his lips while Smolder chuckled.

"Don't eat too much or else you'll end up like one of those dragons that look like a giant carpet barely able to get up off their hordes," Smolder warned.

"True but-"

"Sppppppikkkkkkeeee~," Pinkie cried out causing the young drake to sigh.

"To be continued, right?"

"Right,"

With that Spike was off to help his party-loving friend.

(In orbit)

"Unit," The protogen looked up from his weapon storage to look up at the holographic image of a window that appeared near his head with a never-ending red and black swirling vortex on the hologram.

"What is it, old friend?" The protogen asked to which the vortex on the hologram glowed as it spoke.

"I have finished my scans of the stars within this galaxy cluster and I am displeased to report that none of these stars match the star charts in my records," The ship's artificial intelligence spoke to which the black-clad protogen turned his purple gaze to the weapon case to think for a brief moment.

Tapping his armored knee he turned back to the hologram.

"Would this be related to that anomaly event that pulled us in while we were drifting?"

"It's entirely possible," The AI consented.

The protogen nodded to the hologram while opening the personal storage unit in front of him.

"Although are you sure it is wise for you to go exploring an alien world so soon? We don't even know where we are in space sir," Bones asked to which the protogen gave a slight laugh.

"Bones. We set out drifting into unknown space for a fresh start and honestly, I think this may be fate stepping," The protogen remarked while pulling out some of his gear and equipment to which the AI shifted.

"I didn't think you believed in such things,"

"Maybe I do," The protogen held up one of his personal custom weapon. "Maybe I just want to see what suprises are waiting for me on that lush planet below,"

The AI's avatar shifted slightly while the protogen holstered the weapon that gave him his name.

"Six please do be careful. It will be quite dull on this ship without you,"

"I'll be back before you know it Bones," Six told his faithful companion while walking out of the room into a lift. "I bring you back a souvenir,"

"Hmph," The AI glitched while the protogen T4-S6 stood in the lift until the doors opened to the hangar bay where the combat unit's collection of modified combat vehicles was all where he left them before he entered statis.

"Hello, Nomad..." Placed his armored claw carefully on the haul of the starfighter that he has been with ever since he was reconstructed by the makers. "Ready to stretch your wings, old girl?"

The cockpit opened as if to answer him causing the protogen to smile under his armored visor, climbing the ladder to his ship in which he sat into the cockpit and opened up the controls. While Six connected with Nomad the ship's hatch closed along with the ship's engines warmed up causing the pilot to ready final procedures for take-off. Hoovering off the hangar bay the hangar's bay doors opened allowing Six to take off, building up hyper speed in a few of seconds Six fired away from the Destroyer.

Arching around after burning a few hundred miles, Six couldn't help himself as he returned back into the direction of his ship.

'The Reach II'

Passing the ship that his been home for so long he began to enter the planet's atmosphere and in a short manner time he was planet side and this world he found himself racing through.

It was beautiful.

Maybe... just maybe this might be the new start the combat unit was looking for.
