Babysitting story that takes place a few days after “The Beginning of the End” series finale premiere.
This story takes place a few days after “The Beginning of The End” series premiere, and will be written in a mobile device as I do not have access to a computer; nor do I even own one. So if this doesn’t look good when you’re on a certain device; that’s why. Hope you’ll enjoy my first story, and best wishes to everyone.
The story begins in the Crystal Empire, where Shining Armor and Princess Cadence are trying their best to calm down Flurry Heart. Why? Well, Flurry Heart did “nearly” get foalnapped by King Sombra, was imprisoned alongside her family because of him, and was fighting the corrupted guards once she and her family broke out somehow. Unfortunately, all of this made Flurry Heart have terrible nightmares that just never seem to end; even though it’s been only a few days.
“Flurry Heart, calm down sweetie, it’s okay. It’s over.” Shining Armor said with a loving and caring tone. But Flurry Heart was having none of it. She then took the opportunity to cry even louder because of another “nightmare” she just had; even though she wasn’t asleep anymore. The reason being is that when she started crying, it’s because she just woke up from having a nightmare while taking a nap. Now that she’s awake, she can still remember the nightmare she just had, and then made it worse by remembering the time that she felt one of her hind legs being grasped, and levitating because of Sombra’s magic. And other flashbacks.
“Oh.. my poor baby”, said Princess Cadence consolingly, “do you need a hug?” She then spreads out her arms so Flurry Heart can hug her. Flurry Heart doesn’t respond at first because she was still sniffling and wiping her tears. After a few seconds, she flew towards her mother’s arms, and hugged her whilst still having tears in her eyes. “Shining,” began Cadence; “I feel like that at this rate, we won’t be able to get any goodnight sleep if she keeps crying”.
“I know beloved, but what else can we do? We’ve tried everything.” Shining Armor is now rubbing the sides of his head with his forehooves. He was basically just having a mini meltdown in his head because of how sleep deprived he is. Come to think of it, Cadence wasn’t faring any better than he is either, and she’s got bags under her eyes. Actually, both of them have bags under their eyes, and their manes are all messed up. Well except for Flurry obviously; she just has tears in her eyes from crying too much.
“Hmm,“ Cadence thought for a minute, “we did get her to stop crying soon after we gave her her Whammy remember?” Cadence looked to Shining Armor and awaited his response.
“I guess..” said Shining, “but like I said, we’ve literally tried everything. There’s just no way to get her to stop crying. Also, *yawns*, it’s not like that she’ll get better anytime soon. Face it honey, *starts to look defeated*, we really did try everything.”
“Well,“ Cadence said, “not everything you know.”
“What do you mean? We literally tried everything”, said Shining Armor as he rubs his eyes.
“Well.. “ Cadence paused, “what if we.. I don’t know.. get King Sombra to babysit for a bit?” Cadence chuckled nervously and looked towards her husband.
Shining Armor blinked twice at that suggestion, and said, “you got to be kidding me, there’s no way we’re doing that. No way, no how.” Shining Armor gave a look of utter disbelief and slight distrust, and continued, “No way is King Sombra babysitting our daughter. What if he hurts her again? Or worse?”
“Then we’ll get Twilight to watch over him then. She’s not busy today. So, why not?” Cadence reassured her husband.
Shining Armor felt a little uncomfortable. “I don’t know... last time that Discord was watching over Spike while Twilight was away, he and Spike got into an argument, and they both vowed to never speak to each other for one whole week.” Shining then rubs his head in discomfort of the thought.
“Well then maybe this will be different. Who knows? It might work out in the end. I mean..” Cadence thought out loud nervously, “what’s the worst that can happen?”
Cadence was pacing back and forth; unsure of whether or not this was a good idea. Meanwhile, Shining Armor has just comforted Flurry, and is busy telling Twilight the details.
“So you know what to do right?” Shining Armor said in question while looking at his little sister.
“Of course,“ began Twilight Sparkle; “if King Sombra misbehaves or otherwise whilst looking after my niece, I’ll correct him.”
“And if King Sombra were to do anything else?” Shining Armor waited for another response.
“Then I’ll use the magic of friendship against him. Oh, and if he’s nice, then maybe he can be trusted, I think.” Twilight looked curious for a bit after that question and started pondering.
“I guess so”, Shining said as he rubbed the back of his head, “I just don’t know if Cadence’s plan will work. Besides..” Shining then looked at his wife, his daughter, and then his sister; “I don’t think that he can be trusted. After all, he did successfully take over Canterlot and our kingdom again.” Shining Armor was still unsure of whether if it’s a good plan or not.
“Relax B.B.B.F.F,” Twilight patted her big brother on his back, “I’m sure that Sombra knows not to try again another time. He may be stubborn, but I can tell when he’s had enough. And after that defeat, he certainly won’t forget it.”
“Hehe,” Shining chuckled, “I agree. King Sombra will know better than to mess with us a third time. Besides..” Shining pulls his little sister close with his free hoof that isn’t carrying his daughter; “...we’ll be in our rooms anyways. If Sombra does anything funny, we’ll show ‘em what it means to be funny around here.” Shining Armor looks determined; whilst Flurry Heart is babbling happily.
“Yeah, I guess you’re right. But how is Cadence gonna summon King Sombra? He’s defeated, remember?” Twilight was giving a questionable look.
Cadence then stopped pacing, and just summoned Sombra by using her magic. “I mean,” she began, “Sombra is technically ‘The King of Shadows.’ I’m sure that he can be summoned this way.”
“You sure about that?” Twilight asked with concern and questioning.
King Sombra then was formed through a black shadow wisp that then enveloped into his pony form. “Yes, I can actually”, he began, “and thank goodness you got your daughter to stop crying. I thought she’d never stop.”
Flurry Heart whined a bit at that statement, but stopped. “She has for now”, said Shining Armor while looking at the now “reformed” king, “but if she’s crying for any reason, you have to take care of that. If not, and she’s still crying, you’ll be corrected. Got it?”
“Yes... I think so. What does that mean exactly?” Sombra was confused at that statement like a bag of bits.
“It means that you have to care for Flurry Heart like she’s your own, but not in a villainous way, or taught to be villainous. If I see anything wrong here, you’re gonna get it. Got it?” Shining Armor puts his hoof down to make a point. Twilight was now looking at the king with a type of sternness in her eyes.
King Sombra knew what that meant eventually, and then said, “sure thing your highness. Just tell me what to do and I’ll do it. Kay? Oh wait, you’re only sleeping. Heh, I see now.” Sombra smirked at Shining Armor. Shining got angry, but then decided that it was no use, and calmed down.
Twilight took a breath and says, “just... just babysit her, okay? My big brother and sister in law really needed their rest. So can you babysit my niece Flurry Heart for a while, please?” Twilight then looked at Sombra with puppy eyes, then continued, “if you do, then I’ll ensure that you’re never treated as a villain again, okay? But you’ll be known as a stranger to others until then, got it?”
“Got it”, said Sombra. “Wait. If you’re gonna be checking up on me from time to time, then where’s..” King Sombra was about to finish his sentence, but gotten interrupted by Shining Armor passing Flurry Heart off to him. When Sombra levitated Flurry Heart again, it wasn’t by one of her hind legs this time.
“We’ll be in our bedroom sleeping. And maybe snoring just to annoy you too”, Shining Armor smirked.
“And we’ll be here if you need us. I mean, after all, you’re not very trustworthy you know?” Cadence smirked at the King as well.
“Oh hahaha. Very funny”, Sombra said sarcastically. “But what does that have to do with me being reformed like this again?”
“It’s a precaution to make sure you’re not being villainous again. I mean, after all; you’re not really trustworthy; mainly because of all that stuff you did back then. Especially when you were just a fog of shadows.” Twilight then smirked at the villain as well.
King Sombra remembered some things about that statement, and frowned in annoyance. “I get it kid, now get out of here, and leave me be. I’m getting whatever you’re making me do over with, okay?” Sombra finished with a huff.
“Okay,” said Twilight. “But remember. If you do anything wrong..”.
*babbles and smiles at Sombra*, Flurry Heart finished.
“Then I’ll be corrected.. got it”, Sombra translated. “But what exactly am I supposed to do?” Sombra is still confused about what his current task is supposed to be.
“Just do what caretakers do. You know; feed her, bathe her, play with her, change her.. you know the rest.” Twilight said this while counting with her hooves (as if she was using hands, even though she was a pony, and not a human), as a means to keep track of what babies need.
“*nodding in assurance*, got it. But where and how..” King Sombra began, but was cut off once more.
“Good luck”, Twilight waved as all three of them left the room. Shining and Cadence went to their rooms to nap, or sleep if their bodies need it. And Twilight went to go explore the crystal castle; leaving Flurry Heart and King Sombra all alone in the room.
King Sombra turns to Flurry Heart and asks, “so kid, what do you wanna do first?” He didn’t get a reply, but heard her stomach growling. “Hungry uh? Okay then.”
Flurry whimpered a bit. “Hungwy.”
King Sombra sighed, and says, “okay kid, let’s get you something to eat.” Sombra lifted Flurry Heart with his hooves, and placed her on his head so he can walk to the kitchen; if he can find it or know anything about one that is.
Something about this entire situation blurts out: “something tells me that he’s gonna need all the help he can get, and then some.”
King Sombra and Flurry Heart are now in the hallway; looking for a room in particular. Sombra asked countless ponies as to where this kid usually gets her food from, but they either ignored him, or said something as a means to shrug him off. Clearly, Sombra was having none of that, and decided to go look for someone else to help him. How the ponies didn’t react to the news drastically about Sombra’s return is because the royal couple told them about it before they went into their rooms and passed out on their beds. He surely couldn’t ask them for help because as soon as he found their room, he soon found that they were fast asleep in their beds. Shining Armor was snoring, and Cadence was mumbling something in her sleep; about what exactly is unknown. He would’ve asked the royal guards, but then again... Sombra would’ve been arrested for all he knew; even with the news of his return to them.
Sombra then asked his arch nemesis Twilight where Flurry Heart gets her food from. Unfortunately, like everypony else, she wasn’t much help either. But she did say something about a kitchen in the castle. Where exactly, is unknown to her. Sombra sighed in defeat, but smiles knowing that there’s a kitchen in the castle. And with that he was off. Until...
“*is pacing around the hallway*, hmm. I know that there must be a kitchen here. I mean, how else would my enemies still be here, and keep on living their lives eh?” King Sombra is talking to himself whilst trying his best to distinguish between a room and a kitchen. Flurry Heart was too busy to notice his ramblings because she was looking all over the castle in awe whilst being carried by her “attempted” captor. She wasn’t crying yet, but as always, she will eventually; once she can’t bear her hunger no longer that is.
Sombra turned to Flurry and nudged her gently, “I suppose you don’t know where the kitchen is either do you?” Flurry Heart just shook her head and continued looking around while being carried. “That’s what I figured”, Sombra began, “now let’s find this kitchen before..” Sombra was about to finish his statement, when suddenly he was cut off by Twilight Sparkle; whom apparently, was following him.
Twilight clears her throat and says, “you know, if you need any help, you could just ask.”
Sombra was a little annoyed and said, “I did. But you said that you can’t find out where the kitchen is.” Sombra breathed out a sigh of annoyance, but then took deep breaths to calm himself down.
“Ooh, right. Hehe.” Twilight looked at Sombra and gave him a sheepish smile. “Don’t worry, I’m sure we can figure this out.”
“I hope so”, Sombra anointed, “but if your niece starts crying, then I’m personally blaming you for not helping me.”
Twilight blinked for a bit, and said, “but I thought I told you that I was checking up on you?”
“You did, but”, Sombra took a breath before continuing, “you also said that you would help me if needed, and you didn’t even help me much.” Sombra frowned again in annoyance.
“I know, and I’m really sorry.” Twilight starts to look apologetic. “I was just really fascinated by the Crystal empire castle. You can’t really blame me for wanting to check out your old home.. right?”
King Sombra blinked, “oh.. right. I forgot about that, hehe.” Sombra and Twilight both shared awkward smiles with each other. Flurry Heart was beginning to whine, as her hunger can no longer be contained.
“Well, we better get moving. If we can’t get something for Flurry Heart soon, then she’ll starve, and that’ll cause her to start crying again.” Twilight was looking slightly worried because of her nieces’ whining.
King Sombra sighed, “I guess. But how are we supposed to find a kitchen in this place? Last time I took over, I nearly got buried alive by my own broom closet when figuring out the rooms.”
“I guess.” Twilight rubbed her head, “but I don’t know what else to do. It’s not like anypony’s gonna help us. They’re either guarding the castle, or sleeping. I’m sorry about this.” King Sombra said, “It’s fine. But it’s also not like they’ll help much anyways, hehe.” All three of them then sighed in defeat.
Just then, Twilight just remembered something. “I got it! I think I know how to find the kitchen.”
King Sombra raised an eyebrow in surprise. “You do? How?”
“Well,” Twilight began. “I do have my own castle, but it’s smaller. However, just because it’s smaller, it doesn’t mean that it’s any different than the other castles.”
King Sombra blinked in amazement and surprise, but then frowned from feeling unsure. “I guess so. But how do we find one in this castle?”
“Simple. Just look for a symbol on top of a pair of doors that looks like food, and there you go.” Twilight beamed with pride.
Sombra was smiling slightly. “I guess so. But isn’t it a little silly?”
“Maybe, but it works, right?” Twilight said with a smile.
“Possibly.” Sombra stated; Flurry Heart nodding in approval. “Now cmon, let’s get her taken care of before something bad happens.”
“I wouldn’t say that if I were you”, Twilight cautioned, “because something always bad happens when ponies say that.”
Once Princess Twilight Sparkle, King Sombra, and Flurry Heart enter the kitchen, they are met with some.. questionable stuff. For instance, there’s only jars of mashed peas and bottles of milk to be found; not to mention the countless items that anypony would need to care for an entire house, and too many dishes to count as well. With that in mind, King Sombra goes to where Twilight is directing him, and sets Flurry Heart down in her high chair. King Sombra then proceeds to go and get Flurry Heart some mashed peas to feed her.
“Open wide”, King Sombra told Flurry.
And surprisingly enough, she listened. Until... *continuous splat sounds*. The entire kitchen is covered in mashed peas, plastic jars, and plastic spoons.
“Well... you’re right kid. Your niece is a picky eater”. King Sombra then proceeded to wipe his face off to clean up the mashed peas.
“Technically you’re right”, Twilight began, “but she isn’t that picky. Just loves to make messes.”
*chuckles sarcastically*, “funny. Real funny kid”. King Sombra was not amused; not even in the slightest. Twilight laughs nervously. Meanwhile, Flurry Heart was laughing and tossing the leftover mashed peas onto the walls.
“Well... we can try feeding her a bottle of milk I guess.” King Sombra was still trying to shake off the mashed peas from him. Unfortunately it didn’t work, and the mashed peas start to stick to him.
*tummy growls*, “me hungwy“, Flurry Heart whined.
“Well next time eat your food, and don’t play with it. Kay?” King Sombra was definitely not amused; if albiet a little annoyed.
Flurry Heart whimpered, and then nodded in agreement. She was basically feeling bad for making a mess.
King Sombra sighed, “it’s fine kid, don’t worry about it. Here.” King Sombra then hands Flurry Heart a bottle of milk. She then takes it and starts to drink it.
King Sombra then attempted to try to clean himself up with a paper towel, but it was no use. King Sombra then took some breaths to calm down, then proceeds to go and carry Flurry Heart. “You really are my enemies’ child eh? No wonder you made that big of a mess”, King Sombra said with a slight smile and chuckle. Flurry Heart got a little embarrassed and hid her face in Sombra’s chest. “It’ll be fine”, Sombra reassured Flurry whilst patting her on the back. Flurry Heart then looks up at Sombra, and gave him a slight smile before continuing to drink from her bottle. “Aww”, Sombra began, “how sweet; for someone who’s my enemy that is.” Flurry Heart giggled at that remark.
Twilight Sparkle smiled. “She really is. But can be a hoof-full at times”, Twilight reminded Sombra.
Sombra blinked before saying, “oh.. right. I knew that.” Sombra chuckled a bit more, then looked at Flurry for a bit. Flurry Heart looked back at Sombra, and smiled while still drinking from her bottle.
Twilight was smiling warmly because of how Flurry Heart took a liking to her new sitter; even though her new sitter was her old captor so to speak.
Flurry Heart then finished her bottle and sighed in relief that her hunger is now satisfied. She then tried to give Sombra her empty bottle.
“Oh, thanks kid”, Sombra said as he took the empty bottle and tossed it away into the sink. Surprisingly the sink managed to let the empty bottle dive into it without toppling over the other dirty dishes in the process.
“Great. Now that Flurry’s been fed, we can start cleaning up”, Twilight said with a smile.
Flurry Heart clinged onto Sombra’s shoulder and shook her head. “I think she wants me to carry her for now. Sorry bout that.” Sombra then picked up Flurry Heart and carried her on his shoulder. Flurry then laid her head against his shoulder while sucking on one of her forehooves; almost like she’s sucking her thumb, (if she were human that is).
Twilight sighed, nodded with a smile, and used her magic to clean up the place in no time at all. “Well, that’s all done”, Twilight said as she took some breaths of slight exhaustion.
“Possibly, but I think you’ve missed a spot”, Sombra said while approaching Twilight.
“What?” Twilight said, before being booped on the nose.
“Got ya”, said Sombra while smiling slightly.
Twilight giggled at that gesture, and so did Flurry Heart. Sombra just did a slight chuckle and put his hoof down to help carry Flurry Heart with both hooves. It was fun for a while, until...
*looks down and starts to whine a little*, “I messy”, Flurry Heart whined; as she was also covered in mashed peas.
Twilight sighed. “Alright little bug, let’s get you cleaned up. Okay?”
Flurry Heart nodded and leaned her head back onto Sombra’s shoulder.
As they were walking down towards the hallway to the bathroom, King Sombra turned to Twilight and asked, “so, is your niece gonna behave for us this time?”
Twilight frowned and said, “maybe. But Flurry barely even likes baths. She just plays and splashes in the bathtub, and that’s it. She would also try to hide at first whenever it’s bath time, and she’s not even dirty whenever that time came.”
“I wish you told me that sooner”, said Sombra as all three of them approached the bathroom door. “Well”, Sombra gave a sigh before bracing himself, “here goes nothing...”
Twilight, Sombra, and Flurry Heart entered the bathroom. In the bathroom, you could see a porcelain bathtub with a shower head attached to it, a sink with a mirror on top of it, and a toilet for the royal couple to use whenever one of them gets the urge to go. The walls and floors are what you would imagine; basically crystal themed, and tiled.
“Huh”, said Sombra in a bit of a surprise, “I was expecting the entire bathroom to be bigger; not family sized.”
“Well”, Twilight said with a smile and a sigh, “they are a family. So it’s not everyday you’d get to see something like this.”
“Maybe not, but I’ve seen better”, Sombra smirked.
Twilight rolled her eyes and shook her head with a smile. Meanwhile, Flurry Heart is just in awe at the appearance of the bathroom.
“So, what am I supposed to do first?” Sombra was confused again. Even though he knew what needs to be done, he doesn’t know how to begin his task.
“Well, for starters, we might need to turn on the water first”, Twilight directed.
“And?” Sombra said while following his enemies’ tutorial.
“And then we wait till the tub gets to the right amount for Flurry Heart”, Twilight smiled.
“Okay now, I think I get it.” Sombra was nodding his head as he followed along with Twilight’s directions.
Sombra starts thinking for a bit and asks, “so after the tub is full, you just put your niece in the tub, and then you start bathing her?”
“Not quite”, said Twilight, “we need to make sure the water is not too hot or too cold. Once we make sure it’s just right, then we’ll bathe her. Okay?”
“Okay”, said Sombra, “and I’m guessing once all that’s done, we start bathing her?”
“Correct”, said Twilight with a grin.
“Alright. I think I know what I’m doing. I just sure hope Flurry Heart behaves. Ready?” Sombra turned to Flurry Heart and waited for her to respond. Flurry nodded and hugged Sombra.
“Aww. Alright, here we go...” Sombra then turned on the water for the bath. Flurry Heart then leaned her head into Sombra’s shoulder and waited with them. Eventually...
*a few minutes later*. The entire bathroom was covered in suds and bathwater puddles. Flurry Heart was wrapped in a towel, while Twilight and Sombra were completely soaked.
“Well, I’m never having kids.” Twilight spat out some bathwater and suds that got into her mouth.
“What do you mean? Didn’t you have that dragon with you?” Sombra then patted his head to get some suds and water out of his ears.
“Yeah... but he isn’t really my kid. He’s my buddy. And sibling.” Twilight was mostly dry for now.
“Ooh. It’s complicated eh?” Sombra looked at his former enemy, who’s now looking at the ground.
“Yeah.. but I can handle it.” Twilight then smiled at Sombra.
“Hehe, I doubt that”, Sombra said with a smirk while he’s relaxing and leaning against the tub.
*smiles*, “well, we’d better get Flurry Heart dried up and diapered. Otherwise she’ll make a different kind of mess.” Twilight got up and proceeds to dry up her niece.
“Alright. I think I can work with that.” Sombra got up and started stretching. “Okay, let’s hope that the rest of the night is fine. If not, I blame you.” Sombra then turns to his former nemesis for an answer.
“Fair enough”, Twilight said as she picked up Flurry Heart.
As soon as Flurry Heart was cleaned up, all three left the bathroom and headed towards Flurry’s room. Little did they know that it’s gonna be a long night...
Twilight Sparkle, Flurry Heart, and King Sombra enter Flurry Heart’s bedroom. The bedroom is what it originally looked like in the “The Beginning of the End” episode. Flurry Heart was leaning her head against King Sombra’s shoulder, and looking at him with a smile.
“Hmm. Flurry seems to take a liking to you.” Twilight was rubbing her chin in thought.
King Sombra acknowledged Flurry Heart and smiled back. “I guess she is. And I thought she hates me.” King Sombra then sat down on the floor, and sits Flurry Heart down on his lap.
“Well...” Twilight began to sit down as well, “she did. But I guess it seems that since you’re taking care of her, she doesn’t seem to care that you’re still a villain.”
“Well... thanks for pointing that out captain obvious”, Sombra said with an annoyed tone and slight glare.
“Hehe”, Twilight blushed, “my bad.”
Flurry Heart was just looking around her room in astonishment, when suddenly she starts feeling bad for some reason.
King Sombra then looked at Flurry Heart and asked her: “what’s wrong?”
Flurry Heart said nothing, but leaned her head against Sombra while sitting on him and babbled: “me feew bad.”
“I hope that you’re not sick. And if you are, then please aim for the can. Also, if you do decide to do your business on me, then you’re gonna get it”, Sombra said with a mix of worry, joking manner, and a smile.
Flurry Heart smiled. “Me no make poopy yet.”
“I hope not”, Sombra says as he chuckles nervously. “If so, then let’s hope that it doesn’t end bad. Not like last time.”
Twilight remembered something. “Well, yeah... but you were feeding her.”
Flurry Heart then puts her hooves around her stomach, leaned a bit, and burped a little bit loudly. She blushed, covered her mouth with her hooves, looks up at Sombra, and babbles: “oopsie.”
“It’s fine. Better out than in”, Sombra said with a smile.
“Hehe”, Twilight chuckled nervously, “let’s hope that she doesn’t make a mess again; this time in her diaper. Mainly because I don’t wanna know what it might sound or smell like when it happens.”
“Oh please,“ Sombra shrugged off, “I’ve dealt with tons of bad smells before. I can handle anything.” Flurry Heart giggled, and shook her head whilst smiling at Sombra.
“So... what now?” Sombra was patting his hooves on the ground whilst sitting down out of boredom and looking at Twilight.
“Hmm, I don’t know actually. Usually I’d read to Flurry Heart, but she doesn’t seem tired yet.” Twilight rubbed her chin in thought once more, and then stops while sighing because she was out of things to say at the moment.
“Hmm. Do ponies have card games?” King Sombra questioned.
“Maybe.. I’m not so sure actually.” Twilight was a little confused as to whether she knows about her sister in law, and her big brother’s way of having fun in the castle; well, other than private time in the bedroom that is.
Flurry Heart was now getting bored, and started to sigh. “Me bowred.”
“Yeah, me too kid. Me too. But to be honest, I actually thought that you might poop your pants by now. Mainly because you had a bottle, remember?” King Sombra looked down at Flurry Heart and waited for a reply.
“Yeah”, Flurry nodded, “but me no feew wike it yet.”
“Hmm,” Sombra began to think, “you still hungry? I can give you another bottle.” Sombra then saw Flurry Heart nod a little bit and reaching up to him with her hooves. “Here you go kid, enjoy.” Sombra gave Flurry Heart another bottle of milk. She then took it and started drinking from it.
“Huh, I figured that she wasn’t hungry anymore.” Sombra was a tad bit confused.
“She was. But I guess she’s hungry again?” Twilight shrugged at the answer she gave to Sombra.
“How so?” Sombra questioned.
“Well, she is growing up. So I guess that could be the case.” Twilight then nodded her head in approval of her answer.
“I guess so. Kinda like Tirek, right?” Sombra looked at Twilight and waited for a response.
“Well, yeah. But he grew with magic, not by natural causes.” Twilight was questioning what Sombra has said, and stood up for a while to stretch from sitting on the floor for too long.
“I guess so. Either way, it’s slightly similar; in a way I guess.” Sombra shrugged.
“I guess so. Why not?” Twilight shrugged as well, and then sat back down again.
Flurry Heart finished her bottle again with a burp. She giggled, and sets the bottle aside.
“Wow, nice kid. If you were to compete against Tirek with that, I’d think you’d win”, Sombra said in slight astonishment and in a joking manner.
“Hehe, yeah.” Flurry blushed again.
“So, what do you wanna do now Flurry?” Twilight looks towards her niece and waited for a response.
Before Flurry could answer her aunt’s question, she felt her tummy rumbling, and then wrapped her hooves around her belly. “Me tummy feews weird”, Flurry said in a slight panic.
Sombra heard it too, and said: “oh no. Here it comes.”
Flurry Heart clenched her stomach, and decided to let it rip. She sighed with relief, but felt something else afterwards. “Uh oh, poopy”, she groaned.
“Well aren’t you a little stinker?” Sombra said jokingly.
“Hehe, yeah.” Flurry blushed, and then decides to let it all out with a grunt. She sighs with relief again, and laughs slightly.
“Dang kid. Didn’t know you had it in you.” Sombra was laughing so hard at what he heard, and felt.
Twilight giggled too. “Alright little stink bug. Let’s get you changed.” Twilight proceeds to pick up Flurry Heart and change her. Afterwards, she brought Flurry back to King Sombra so she can pick out a book to read for her niece.
King Sombra was hesitant to let Flurry Heart sit on him again, but figured that it’s fine now, and sits her down back on his lap. “Feeling better about that?” Sombra was smirking at Flurry Heart and tickles her belly slightly. Flurry Heart nodded, and Sombra petted her head while chuckling slightly.
Twilight eventually picked out a book and sat down next to King Sombra so she can read to them; more specifically, to Flurry Heart. It would be easy for both of them to bring her to sleep like that. But unfortunately, Flurry wasn’t going to sleep without a fight...
Twilight Sparkle, King Sombra, and Flurry Heart are all getting ready for storytime. King Sombra was holding onto Flurry Heart while she’s sitting on him so she won’t fall. Flurry Heart was holding onto one of her teddy bears, and starts sucking on one of her hooves while waiting for storytime to start. Twilight Sparkle was proofreading the story she’s about to read to Flurry Heart. Reason is to check and see if it’s foal friendly. Also to ensure that Flurry Heart will understand what’s being read to her as well. With all that completed, Twilight is sure that Flurry Heart’s storytime, will be a good time, and that this story will indeed be her new favorite; at least until she falls asleep first, which is what Twilight and King Sombra are going for. However, before Twilight could begin reading the book, Flurry Heart started to whine.
“*sighs*. What’s the matter now kid? Aren’t you tired?” Sombra was a little annoyed, but not too surprised by this; as he was reduced to nothing but a literal shadow for quite some time after his defeat from Twilight and her friends, and had to hear Flurry Heart whine and cry for the next three days afterward.
Flurry Heart said with tears in her eyes, “no stowy. Me wanna pway. And, me no tiwred… yet… .” Flurry Heart began to yawn and rub one of her eyes.
Twilight and Sombra looked at each other with unsatisfied looks, and stared at Flurry for a bit.
“Well, if you want, we can put you to bed right now without a story. And maybe next time we can have storytime soon. Okay?” Twilight Sparkle wasn’t having it; especially because she’s dealt with her whining before the last time she babysat her.
Flurry sniffles and nods in agreement, “owkay.”
“Alright”, King Sombra sighs and picks up Flurry Heart. “Before we get you to bed, need anything before we do?” Flurry Heart looks to be thinking of something, but then shook her head as she can’t think of anything. “Alright then; it’s settled.” King Sombra then placed Flurry in her crib; along with Twilight giving her a goodnight kiss.
“Sweet dreams little princess”, Twilight said with a soothing voice and a smile, “tomorrow’s gonna be a great day.”
And with that, Twilight and Sombra left the room and went their separate ways. Since then, everything has been peaceful within the Crystal Empire once again. Until...
*few hours later*. Twilight and King Sombra soon awoke to the crying of Flurry Heart, and then went into her bedroom to calm her down. Twilight proceeds to pick up her crying niece, while King Sombra is trying to keep his cool.
“Geez kid, it’s late at night. What’s gotten you so worked up, huh?” Sombra was really not in a good mood since he was woken up harshly by Flurry Heart’s crying.
Flurry sniffles and says, “I sowwy. M-me can’t sweep.” Sombra and Twilight both shared looks with each other.
Twilight then said, “well, with Flurry Heart awake none of us are gonna get any sleep.”
Sombra sighed and said, “Well, maybe she’s hungry again. You hungry?” Sombra asked Flurry Heart.
Flurry Heart replied, “a wittwe bit.” Soon afterward she wiped her nose to wipe away the snot and some tears while sniffling.
Twilight sighed and said, “be right back”, and left. After three minutes later, Twilight came back with a bottle of milk, and gave it to Flurry Heart; whom then took it with a slight smile, and starts drinking it. Sombra then sat Flurry down on his lap, and pats her belly.
Sombra then cleared his throat and said, “you really are a lot of work, huh?” Flurry Heart blushed, and nodded while drinking her milk. Afterwards, she was done within a few minutes, and sets the bottle aside.
“So, now that you’re all fed, you wanna go to bed?” Twilight asked Flurry.
Flurry nodded, but then said, “Wait... m-me want stowytime.”
Twilight nodded and said, “Alright”, and went off to look for a book to read to Flurry Heart. After she came back, she asked Flurry Heart, “do you want me to read gusty the great?”
Flurry Heart nodded, but then said, “but me want sombwa to read it.”
Sombra took a breath, and then said, “You sure about that? I’m not much of a reader of legends you know.” Sombra looked down at Flurry Heart and waited for a response. She yawned, but then looked at Sombra with big eyes.
Flurry Heart pleaded, “pwease?” and hoped that Sombra would accept the offer. He nodded and took the book from Twilight.
“Alright kid”, said Sombra, “let’s get this over with.” With that, he opens the book, and starts to read the first part of the story. “Once upon a time, in a land before Equestria, there lived a charming, and powerful sorceress named: Gusty the Great. Gusty the Great was well known for her powerful magic abilities, and her charming nature...”. Sombra was reading Flurry Heart the story; using his voice to voice out different characters in the book; especially with Twilight’s help as well. But right as soon as the book was at its climax, Flurry Heart started to yawn. Sombra paused for a bit and asked, “want me to stop, or keep going?” Flurry Heart waved her hoof; signaling Sombra to continue. He nods, and continues to read the rest of the story.
“And with that, Gusty the Great defeated Grogar, and the lands were safe, once again. And they all lived happily ever after. The end.” Sombra closed the book, and looked to see Flurry Heart leaning against his stomach, fast asleep on his lap. Twilight and Sombra both looked at each other with a smile, Twilight levitating Flurry Heart off of Sombra, and into the covers, Sombra got off the bed to put the book away, and to stretch because his muscles were feeling tense from sitting down without any back support for him, Twilight gave Flurry a goodnight kiss once more, and the two of them went out of the room, and into the hallway.
Twilight turned to Sombra, and then said “Wow. I cannot believe you knew how to take care of Flurry Heart. How’d you know?”
Sombra turned back to Twilight, and said, “Well, I did learn from experience when I was with the other villains babysitting Cozy Glow.”
Twilight looked puzzled, and said, “There were other villains?”
Sombra blinked, and then said, “Yes, there are. But not only that, but I did also spend my time as a shadow. I saw and heard your brother and his wife take care of Flurry Heart for a few days. So that’s how I know.”
Twilight looked with wide eyes and said, “Oooh. That’s why.”
Sombra nodded, and said, “Yes, that’s why.”
Sombra and Twilight were about to separate, when suddenly they heard whining. They turned; only to see Flurry Heart out of her room, rubbing one of her eyes with one hoof, and holding her plushie with the other. Sombra sighed and asked, “Need something else?”.
Flurry Heart nodded, then flew towards Sombra and gave him a hug. “Thankies, fowr not being bad.” Sombra smiled, and hugged back. Flurry then turned and flew towards Twilight to give her a big hug too. “Thankies Auntie, fowr da best, day, evewr.” Twilight smiled, and hugged Flurry Heart back as well.
Both Twilight and Sombra went back to put Flurry Heart to bed again, and left once everything was taken care of.
“So, what do you wanna do now?” Twilight asked King Sombra.
Sombra thought for a minute, and then replied, “Wanna have a snack before bed?” Twilight nodded, and led Sombra to the kitchen for a late night snack. Soon afterwards, Twilight and Sombra both said goodnight to each other, and went into their respectful guestrooms to sleep in. Meanwhile, Flurry Heart was laying in her bed in her bedroom, and smiling; smiling because not only did she have the best day ever, but she also got the chance to know Sombra’s good side very well other than his villainous side. And with that, she drifts off to sleep; wondering about what lies ahead for her in the near future. And so, everyone is asleep, and had a good night. The end.
