Winter was coming and Twilight Sparkle and her friends were ready for it, they were walking together and conversing while they walked near the Crystal Empire,

"Best autumn winter walk ever!" Pinkie Pie said as she hopped,

"Pinkie, darling, please, keep your voice down, I don't want an avalanche to ruin this new fur coat I finished this morning." Rarity said,

"What is that coat made from, anyway?" Applejack asked as she looked at Rarity's light pink fur coat,

"It is made from the finest sheep fur in Equestria, and put in a pink dye of my choosing to give it its extravagant color." Rarity replied,

"Are the sheep okay?" Fluttershy asked,

"Of course, they had their fur clipped last summer." Rarity replied,

"Why didn't you just ask for yak fur for your new winter coat?" Rainbow Dash asked,

"Rainbow, I doubt the yaks would be willing to share." Twilight Sparkle replied,

"Why didn't Spike and Starlight Glimmer come along?" Fluttershy asked,

"Well, I had work to do for running the school, but Spike and Starlight said they'd do it for me, so they stayed behind." Twilight Sparkle replied, her friends smiled,

"Whoa! What is that?" Rainbow Dash asked as she looked up to her left, she flew up to get a better view of what she saw,

"Wait. Rainbow." Twilight Sparkle said,

"Guys! Come up here! There's a frozen pony here!" Rainbow Dash said, and her friends ran to where she was at.

Rainbow Dash sat and waited for her friends to arrive, they arrived after several minutes, they looked and saw the frozen unicorn, they gasped at what they saw,

"Oh, no." Fluttershy said,

"What happened to him?" Applejack asked,

"It must've got too cold and he froze here." Twilight Sparkle replied,

"Come on, we can't leave him here." Rainbow Dash said,

"Ah agree, let's get him unfrozen." Applejack replied, and Twilight Sparkle cast telekinesis on the frozen unicorn and she and her friends trotted back home.

Twilight Sparkle and her friends took the frozen unicorn to the Castle of Friendship and he was put in front of a fireplace,

"Wow, how long do you think he's been frozen?" Starlight Glimmer asked,

"I don't know, but I hope not too long." Twilight Sparkle replied,

"He still looks young." Spike said, they looked and saw the unicorn's face, he was a young stallion,

"He looks to be our age." Fluttershy said,

"Well, let's get him unfrozen, just a little longer." Twilight Sparkle replied, and they waited. The ice melted and the unicorn exhaled and sighed, everypony saw he had a royal blue coat, a short dark purple mane and tail, and green eyes, his cutie mark was a white knight's helmet. The unicorn's senses adjusted themselves and he looked and saw Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Applejack, Spike, and Starlight Glimmer in front of him and smiling,

"Hi. Are you okay?" Twilight Sparkle asked,

"Who art thou?" the unicorn asked, which meant "Who are you?", the ponies and Spike reeled back,

"He speaks Old Ponish?" Rarity asked,

"Old Ponish? 'Tis our tongue." the unicorn replied, which meant "Old Ponish? It is our language.", Twilight Sparkle processed what he said and sighed,

"My name is Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship. What is thine name?" Twilight Sparkle asked, which meant "My name is Twilight Sparkle, Princess of Friendship. What's your name?",

"Virtue." the unicorn replied,

"Is that thy name?" Twilight Sparkle asked, which meant "Is that your name?", Virtue nodded,

"Thou princess? Whither is Princess Platinum?" Virtue asked, which meant "You princess? Where is Princess Platinum?", the ponies and Spike became speechless,

"He was frozen for that long?" Rainbow Dash asked,

"Canst thou speakest that again?" Virtue asked, which meant "Can you say that again?",

"Thou wert frore whenas Princess Platinum was ruler of unicorns?" Twilight Sparkle asked, which meant "You were frozen when Princess Platinum was the ruler of the unicorns?",

"Aye, I was glaciated by Windigos, I was frore for Platinum knoweth how long." Virtue replied, which meant "Yes, I was frozen over by Windigos, I was frozen for Platinum knows how long.",

"Um, Princess Platinum hast stopped ruling over a thousand twelvemonths ago." Twilight Sparkle said, which meant "Um, Princess Platinum has stopped ruling over a thousand years ago.",

"Egad. How long was I frore?" Virtue asked, which meant "Egad. How long was I frozen?", he looked at the mares and dragon in front of him,

"Wait, are unicorns, Pegasi, and earth ponies together?" Virtue asked,

"Yea, Clover the Clever unleashed a spell called Fire of Friendship to get rid of Windigos." Twilight Sparkle replied,

"Is that a dragon?" Virtue asked,

"Yea." Twilight Sparkle replied, Virtue's eyes widened as he looked around,

"I shall behold Equestria." Virtue said, which meant "I will see Equestria.", and he trotted outside.

Virtue arrived outside and looked at Ponyville,

"Egad." Virtue said as he looked around, Twilight Sparkle and her friends walked outside,

"Welcome to Ponyville, Virtue." Twilight Sparkle said, Virtue looked and saw the unicorns, Pegasi, earth ponies living together, his eyes widened with surprise at seeing Sandbar, Gallus, Ocellus, Smolder, Yona, and Silverstream,

"What has happened while I was frore?" Virtue asked,

"What did you do before you were frozen, Virtue?" Rainbow Dash asked,

"I do not comprehend what thou art speakest." Virtue replied, which meant "I don't understand what you're saying.",

"She asketh what wert thou afore thou wert frore by Windigos." Twilight Sparkle said, which meant "She asked what were you before you were frozen by the Windigos?",

"Ah. I was a pony-at-hoofs." Virtue replied,

"Pony-at-hoofs?" Fluttershy asked,

"It means he was a soldier." Twilight Sparkle replied,

"So, um... thou wert in a host?" Pinkie Pie asked, which meant "So, um... you were in an army?",

"Aye, I was a watchpony whenas I was frore." Virtue replied,

"I am only one princess, thither are five princesses." Twilight Sparkle said, which meant "I am only one princess, there are five princesses.",

"Five princesses?" Virtue asked,

"Yea." Twilight Sparkle replied,

"I shall meet them." Virtue said,

"Spike, send a letter to Princess Cadence to go to Canterlot." Twilight Sparkle said, and Spike wrote and sent the letter,

"Canterlot?" Virtue asked,

"'Tis Equestria's capital." Twilight Sparkle replied,

"Whither is it located?" Virtue asked, Twilight Sparkle and her friends walked and showed him, he saw the castle,

"I shall yede." Virtue said, and he began to walk,

"Wait, dost thou not know teleporting spell?" Twilight Sparkle asked, which meant "Wait, you don't know the teleporting spell?",

"I know, but casting spell is for the otiose." Virtue replied, which meant "I know, but casting the spell is for the lazy.", and he continued walking to Canterlot.

Virtue looked around and saw the three pony types together,

"Equestria hast changed." Virtue said, and he continued walking silently until he entered Canterlot Castle, he looked at the royal guards,

"Pony-at-hoofs raiment hast changed as well." Virtue said, which meant "Soldier clothing has changed as well.", and he entered the throne room, he saw Twilight Sparkle and her friends there, along with Princess Celestia, Princess Luna, Shining Armor, Princess Cadence, and Flurry Heart,

"What took him so long?" Princess Luna asked,

"I was going to teleport him here, but he decided to walk instead." Twilight Sparkle replied,

"'Tis a value from afore I was frore." Virtue said, which meant "It is a value from before I was frozen.", the princesses and Shining Armor's eyes' widened a little,

"That language, nopony talks like that now." Princess Celestia said,

"Thou not speakest my tongue?" Virtue asked,

"Nay, I speak thy tongue." Princess Luna replied,

"I am Princess Celestia, Princess of the Sun and co-ruler of Equestria." Princess Celestia said,

"I am Princess Luna, Princess of the Moon and co-ruler of Equestria." Princess Luna said,

"I am Princess Cadence, Princess of Love and ruler of the Crystal Empire, and this is Flurry Heart, my daughter." Princess Cadence said, Flurry Heart burbled and reached out to Virtue,

"I am Prince Shining Armor, husband of Princess Cadence, father of Flurry Heart, and older brother of Princess Twilight Sparkle, I am a pony-at-hoofs, captain of Princess Cadence's host." Shining Armor said,

"Whither is Princess Platinum?" Virtue asked,

"Um... Princess Platinum hath passed long agone." Princess Celestia replied,

"Aye, Celestia and I are her successors." Princess Luna said,

"Why dost thou five hast wings and horn?" Virtue asked, which meant "Why do you five have wings and a horn?",

"We are alicorns, we are unicorns, Pegasi, and earth ponies combined." Princess Celestia replied,

"I'm sorry, but I'm still having trouble understanding your language." Princess Cadence said,

"Don't worry, Twily has a book on his language that I read before, I can translate some of the stuff he says." Shining Armor replied,

"Is Sunburst available?" Starlight Glimmer asked,

"I think so." Princess Cadence replied,

"I'll go get him." Starlight Glimmer said, and she teleported away, she reappeared with Sunburst a second later,

"What is it?" Sunburst asked,

"Most of us are having trouble understanding what he's saying." Rainbow Dash replied,

"Art thou a court wizard?" Virtue asked, Sunburst was caught off guard for a second by his way of speaking but composed himself,

"Aye, I am the court wizard of the Crystal Empire, 'tis north of here, my name is Sunburst." Sunburst replied,

"My name is Virtue." Virtue said,

"Whither art thou from, Virtue?" Princess Celestia asked,

"I do not bethink oneself of, I was frore by Windigos." Virtue replied, which meant "I don't remember, I was frozen by Windigos.",

"Twilight and the rest of you, you all should teach him about what has happened while he was frozen so he can have a better understanding on why Equestria's the way it is now." Princess Celestia said, the others nodded,

"Alright then, come, Virtue, I shalt learn thee anent Equestria's history." Twilight Sparkle said, which meant "Alright then, come, Virtue, I will teach you about Equestria's history.",

"Why can I not be learned hither?" Virtue asked, which meant "Why can I not be taught here?",

"We do not have our books." Sunburst replied,

"Come Virtue, we are faring to Ponyville." Twilight Sparkle said, which meant "Come Virtue, we are traveling to Ponyville.", and she got ready to cast her teleporting spell, but Virtue trotted outside and went to Ponyville,

"*sigh* I guess we're going to have to wait for him." Twilight Sparkle said, and she teleported herself and her friends to Ponyville.

Virtue walked into Ponyville and almost got lost along the way, he arrived and saw Twilight Sparkle and her five friends waiting for her,

"Okay, Virtue, I shall learn thee, after Princess Platinum's rule, Princess Celestia and Princess Luna becometh rulers of Equestria and Star Swirl the Bearded learneth the two with magic until he left and vanished the Pony of Shadows along with Rockhoof, Flash Magnus, Mistmane, Somnambula, and Mage Meadowbrook, the Pillars all had an Element which were valued back then, Flash Magnus' element was bravery, Mistmane's was beauty, Mage Meadowbrook's was healing, Rockhoof's was strength, Somnambula's was hope, and Star Swirl the Bearded's was sorcery." Twilight Sparkle said,

"Egad. Pony values hast changed, too." Virtue said,

"Pony values today are different, each is an Element, symbolized by us, Fluttershy is kindness, Rainbow Dash is loyalty, Applejack is honesty, Pinkie Pie is laughter, Rarity is generosity, and mine is magic, together, they are the magic of friendship." Twilight Sparkle said,

"Honesty?" Virtue asked,

"Thou shalt not lie." Twilight Sparkle replied,

"Oh, thou shalt be soothfast." Virtue said, Twilight Sparkle smiled,

"Whenas did values becomest called Elements?" Virtue asked,

"What were they called in thine time?" Twilight Sparkle asked,

"Virtues." Virtue replied,

"Ooh, art thou the founder of Virtues?" Pinkie Pie asked,

"Nay." Virtue replied,

"Aw, that's too bad." Pinkie Pie said,

"'Tis wondrous Equestria still hast Kindness and Charity, but what happened to other five virtues?" Virtue asked,

"What are they?" Twilight Sparkle asked,

"Humility, Temperance, Chastity, Diligence, and Patience." Virtue replied, the six mares became speechless,

"Uh... um... I do not bethink oneself of those." Twilight Sparkle said, which meant "Uh... um... I don't remember those.",

"Art thou dark of Virtues?" Virtue asked, which meant "Are you ignorant of Virtues?",

"Nay." Twilight Sparkle replied,

"I shall behold this new Equestria." Virtue said, and he walked around Ponyville.

Virtue looked around and saw the ponies looking at him and smiling, he smiled back, he walked around slowly and took in the view, confetti and streamers go off and he saw a party happening,

"Welcome to thee 'Welcome to Ponyville' party!'" Pinkie Pie said loudly, Virtue looked around and saw food and games to play,

"I thank thee for welcoming me, but welcomings were not wonted during my time." Virtue said, "Thank you for welcoming me, but welcomings were not normal during my time.",

"Then thou shouldest enjoy thine self." Pinkie Pie replied, and Virtue walked around. Virtue looked at the ponies and other creatures having fun, he saw Sandbar, Gallus, Ocellus, Smolder, Yona, and Silverstream,

"Um, excuse me." Virtue said as he trotted to them, the six students looked at him,

"Whenas did ponies begineth befriending other creatures?" Virtue asked, which meant "When did ponies begin befriending other creatures?",

"Um... it was kind of recent, actually." Sandbar replied,

"Yeah, we were sent here to represent our homes and the ponies wanted to spread friendship." Smolder said,

"Friendship? 'Twas valueless in thine time." Virtue said, which meant "Friendship? It was valuless in my time.",

"Huh?" Silverstream asked,

"Um, can you try to translate what you just said?" Ocellus asked,

"He said friendship had no value in his time." Twilight Sparkle replied as she walked to them,

"Well, my kind doesn't value friendship all that much." Gallus said,

"Neither does mine, dragons don't do friends." Smolder said,

"Well, yak only started valuing friendship recently." Yona said,

"My kind had to hide underwater because we got invaded, we started valuing friendship after the ponies visited us." Silverstream said,

"Back in mine time, unicorns, Pegasi, and earth ponies liveth semovedly." Virtue said, which meant "Back in my time, unicorns, Pegasi, and earth ponies lived separately.",

"Um, semovedly?" Ocellus asked,

"He means that they lived separately from one another." Twilight Sparkle replied,

"Oh, I remember learning that in class." Silverstream said,

"Come on, Virtue, I have wittles thou might likest." Pinkie Pie said, which meant "Come on, Virute, I have food you might like.",

"What is that gaud round thy scrag?" Virtue asked, which meant "What is that trinket around your neck?",

"Huh?" Silverstream asked,

"He wants to see your necklace." Twilight Sparkle said,

"Oh, this is a pearl that lets me transform." Silverstream said, and she transformed into a seapony, Virtue nodded while smiling and Silverstream changed back,

"What art thine names?" Virtue asked,

"I'm Sandbar, that's Ocellus, that's Silverstream, that's Gallus, that's Yona, and that's Smolder." Sandbar replied as he pointed at them, Virtue nodded while smiling and trotted to go see Pinkie Pie. Virtue saw pies, cakes, and cupcakes everywhere, he saw punch to drink as well, everypony parties while Virtue ate one slice of carrot cake, one slice of cherry pie, and drank a cup of punch and began walking again, Pinkie Pie dashed to him,

"Thou did not eatest everything." Pinkie Pie said,

"Thy body dost not require more." Virtue replied,

"Oh, fudge, thou shouldest indulge." Pinkie Pie said, which meant "Oh, nonsense, you should indulge.",

"Nay." Virtue replied,

"Why not?" Pinkie Pie asked,

"'Tis peccant." Virtue replied, which meant "It is sinful.",

"Peccant? Dost thou hast Virtue for it?" Pinkie Pie asked, which menat "Sinful? Do you have a Virtue for it?",

"Virtue of Temperance." Virtue replied,

"I made wittles for thee." Pinkie Pie said, which meant "I made the food for you.",

"I thank thee for the wittles, but I shall not overindulge." Virtue replied, Pinkie Pie growled while her face turned red, which meant "I thank you for the food, but I shall not overindulge.",

"Thou couldest use patience." Virtue said, Pinkie Pie continued to growl,

"Excuse me, Virtue." Maud Pie said as she walked over to him and stood to Pinkie Pie's right,

"Pinkie hath madeth wittles for thee, thou shouldest enjoy." Maud Pie said,

"In sooth, I laud her wittles and am grateful, but I shall not consume too much." Virtue replied, which meant "Actually, I like her food and am grateful, but I shall not consume too much.",

"What am I to do with wittles, then?" Pinkie Pie asked,

"Give it to those who are esurient?" Virtue asked, which meant "Give it to those who are hungry.",

"Um, Virtue." Pinkie Pie said as she pointed her hoof, Virtue looked back and saw everypony eating the party food,

"Yclept Princess Platinum, Equestria hath lost temperance." Virtue said, which meant "By the name of Princess Platinum, Equestria has lost temperance.",

"Come on, Virtue, I have games." Pinkie Pie said, and she showed him the games. Virtue looked and saw foals playing pin the tail on the donkey, whacking a piñata, and playing tag. Virtue walked to the foals and smiled while four foals playing tag ran in front of him, he walked to the foals and they watched him, he got on his knees and patted the foals who came to see him, he then got an idea and used his telekinesis, his magic aura was white, he got the leftovers from Pinkie Pie's party and gave it to the foals,

"Yay!" the foals said as they got the treats, Virtue stood up and smiled while the foals enjoyed the party food. Virtue walked over to the others,

"I shall begin labor morrow, I require shelter." Virtue said, which meant "I shall begin working tomorrow, I need shelter.",

"Ah think we have an extra bed, this way, sugar cube." Applejack replied, and she walked, Virtue watched her, she turned around and told him to come along with a gesture of her hoof,

"Oh." Virtue said as he realized he was supposed to follow, he walked with her and went to Sweet Apple Acres.

Virtue arrived at Sweet Apple Acres and saw Big Macintosh, Granny Smith, and Apple Bloom,

"Howdy, Virtue, we can always use an extra hoof on the farm." Apple Bloom said,

"Um, I do not understand thine tongue." Virtue said,

"I understand thou a bit." Apple Bloom replied,

"How?" Virtue asked,

"We have cozs who speaketh thy tongue." Applejack replied, "We have cousins who speak your language.",

"We... uh... have... um... shoot, Ah forgot them words already." Granny Smith said, Virtue looked around and saw Big Macintosh working,

"Ah, thou all art husbandponies, mayhaps Equestria still valueth diligence." Virtue said, which meant "Ah, you all are farmers, perhaps Equestria still values diligence.",

"Eeyup." Big Macintosh said,

"Um, only Big Mac's a stallion, Virtue." Apple Bloom said,

"Apple Bloom, Ah don't think that's what he means with husband. Anyway, Virtue, Ah am Applejack, this is Apple Bloom, that's Big Mac, and that's Granny Smith, you can stay here for the night, and ya can work on the farm, too." Applejack said, she looked and saw Virtue was trying to understand what she meant, Applejack did a gesture with her hoof that told him to follow her, he followed her and they entered Sweet Apple Acres, Virtue yawned and saw it was almost dark,

"Goodnight, Virtue." Applejack said, and they slept.

Morning came and the Apple family woke up earlier by sounds of breathing, they walked to where they heard it and saw Virtue doing push-ups,

"Wow, he's up early." Apple Bloom said,

"Full of energy, too." Applejack said, and Virtue continued exercising,

"Um, Virtue?" Applejack asked, Virtue stopped doing push-ups and looked forward,

"What art thou doing?" Applejack asked,

"Morning training." Virtue replied,

"He must still have memories from his ol' military days." Applejack said, and he exercised a bit more and finished,

"Ah'll go make breakfast." Granny Smith said as she walked away. Applejack walked to Virtue,

"Alright, Virtue, um, if thou... um... hast not noticed yet, 'tis winter right now." Applejack said,

"Aye, I noticed from the cold temperature." Virtue replied,

"Oh... well... um... we art not farmin' today... we art preservin'." Applejack said,

"We are, only use art for thou." Virtue replied,

"Well, we are makin' breakfast right now." Applejack said, Virtue smiled as he tried to understand her,

"Breakfast's ready." Granny Smith said from the kitchen, Applejack told Virtue to come with her hoof and he followed them. Virtue and the Apple family ate hay, fruits, and vegetables for breakfast,

"My, Equestria hath certes lost temperance." Virtue said, which meant "My, Equestria has certainly lost temperance.",

"No, we haven't, Virtue, we need all the food here to work on the farm." Apple Bloom said, Virtue only ate a quarter of his meal and set it aside,

"I thank thee for thy wittles, I shall now begin labor." Virtue said,

"But thou hast not ateth all." Apple Bloom said,

"Temperance, Apple Bloom." Virtue replied,

"Art thou going to eat later?" Apple Bloom asked,

"Aye." Virtue replied, and he went outside while the Apple family watched him.

Virtue headed outside and felt the warm sun,

"Ah, today's a apricity." Virtue said, which meant "Ah, today's a cold winter day with a warm sun.", and he began working. Virtue saw several vegetables were actually ripe and he picked them, he began organizing the vegetables and the Apple family watched him, he soon walked around and looked for something, he found a shovel and trotted to it and picked it up, he looked around again and got two white cloths, he began digging the ground,

"Wait, Virtue!" Applejack said as she and her family went to him, he looked at them while Big Macintosh, Applejack, and Apple Bloom ran to him while Granny Smith walked with her walker,

"What in tarnation are ya doin'?" Applejack asked,

"I do not comprehend thy sentence." Virtue said,

"What art thou doin', Virtue?" Apple Bloom asked,

"Storing the wittles." Virtue replied,

"How?" Applejack asked,

"I dig ground, place clout, place wittles o'er clout, place next clout o'er wittles, then fill hole." Virtue said as he showed them what he was doing since they did not understand his words, which meant "I dig ground, place cloth, place food over cloth, place next cloth over food, then fill hole.",

"Oh, Ah know what he's doin', that's how we preserved food when Ah was Apple Bloom's age, we dug holes, place cloths in it, put the food in, and then another cloth over it and fill the ground, the cool air down there would keep the food from goin' bad." Granny Smith said,

"Virtue." Applejack said, he looked at her again, she did the gesture that told him to come with her again and he followed her and Apple Bloom.

Applejack and Apple Bloom led Virtue to the kitchen and showed him the refrigerator, Applejack opened it and Virtue saw the preserved food and felt the cold air from inside,

"What have we hither?" Virtue asked,

"'Tis a refrigerator, Virtue." Apple Bloom replied,

"Refrigerator?" Virtue asked,

"Um, thou see, we now have... um... methods of... preserving food, no need to dig hole." Applejack said,

"What is door above?" Virtue asked,

"'Tis a freezer." Apple Bloom replied, Applejack closed the refrigerator and opened the freezer, Virtue saw ice cubes in the freezer,

"Thou now hast ice maker?" Virtue asked, Applejack and Apple Bloom nodded while smiling,

"Freezer glaciates things?" Virtue asked,

"If yer askin' if it freezes stuff, yes." Apple Bloom replied,

"Hath Equestria becometh too otiose to harvest ice?" Virtue asked, which meant "Has Equestria become too lazy to harvest ice?",

"Say what now?" Applejack asked,

"I shall be without." Virtue said, which meant "I'll be outside.", and he headed back outside while Apple Bloom and Applejack watched him.

Virtue cleaned the animal waste while Big Macintosh showed him how to work on the farm non-verbally, he petted and hugged any animal who came to him,

"Say, he's actually a pretty hard worker." Granny Smith said, she and her family watched Virtue shovel the animals' solid waste into a small wooden wagon, he trotted away and dumped the solid waste into a hole Big Macintosh dug outside of Sweet Apple Acres,

"Yeah, he ain't usin' his magic, either." Applejack said, she and her family heard trotting and they saw Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie, Rarity, Scootaloo, Sweetie Belle, Starlight Glimmer, and Spike coming, Applejack looked and saw Star Swirl the Bearded, Rockhoof, Flash Magnus, Mistmane, Somnambula, and Mage Meadowbrook also coming, they all arrived at the farm,

"What are they doin' here?" Applejack asked,

"I wrote a letter to Star Swirl about Virtue and he and the other five Pillars were interested in meeting him." Twilight Sparkle replied,

"Well, I can't blame 'em, maybe they'll understand Virtue better than us." Applejack said,

"How have things been with him?" Twilight Sparkle asked,

"Not too bad, he's actually a hard worker, see." Applejack replied, they looked and saw Virtue shoveling solid waste,

"Oh, what a disgusting job." Rarity said,

"Ah know, Rarity, but someone's gotta do it." Applejack replied,

"Have things been alright for you?" Scootaloo asked,

"Ah noticed that, too, he apparently doesn't use magic for manual labor." Applejack replied, Virtue finished shoveling the solid waste and then went on to feed the animals, he petted any animal that came to him,

"Oh, he seems to be an animal lover." Fluttershy said, Virtue trotted to Applejack,

"'Tis done." Virtue said,

"Well, Ah don't have any other jobs for ya right now." Applejack said, Virtue tried to understand what she said,

"She quoth thither are no more jobs to do." Twilight Sparkle said, which meant "She said there are no more jobs to do.",

"Ah." Virtue said,

"Thank you, Virtue, you've been a big help today." Apple Bloom said,

"Nay, nay. Nay need to thank me." Virtue replied,

"Virtue, the Pillars of Equestria, this is Star Swirl the Bearded, this is Rockhoof, this is Mage Meadowbrook, this is Somnambula, this is Mistmane, and this is Flash Magnus." Twilight Sparkle said,

"Wait, Star Swirl the Bearded? I bethink oneself of thee now, thou were Clover the Clever's master." Virtue said, the other five Pillars become stunned at his speech, which meant "Wait, Star Swirl the Bearded? I remember you now, you were Clover the Clever's teacher.",

"What is that way of speaking?" Mistmane asked,

"Wait, you five don't know how to talk like that?" Rainbow Dash asked,

"Sorry, lass, but nopony talks like that where I'm from." Rockhoof replied,

"Nope, I have no idea what he's saying." Somnambula said,

"What about the rest of you?" Starlight Glimmer asked,

"Sorry, but no." Mage Meadowbrook replied,

"Nope." Flash Magnus said, Mistmane shook her head,

"What about you, Star Swirl?" Rockhoof asked,

"I understand him perfectly." Star Swirl the Bearded replied, the Pillars became stunned again,

"Is Virtue thy name?" Star Swirl the Bearded asked,

"Aye, I was a pony-at-hoofs serving in Princess Platinum's host." Virtue replied,

"What did he say?" Mistmane asked,

"He was a soldier who served under Princess Platinum." Star Swirl the Bearded replied,

"Where did you all find him?" Mage Meadowbrook asked,

"Frozen near the Crystal Empire, he said the Windigos froze him." Twilight Sparkle replied,

"Art thou dark anent the Elements?" Star Swirl the Bearded asked, which meant "Are you ignorant about the Elements?",

"I have heard anent the Elements from Twilight Sparkle, but aye, I am still dark anent the Elements." Virtue replied,

"He mentioned something about seven Virtues from his time." Twilight Sparkle said,

"Ah, the seven Virtues, Humility, Kindness, Charity, Temperance, Diligence, Chastity, and Patience, they were the pony values before the Elements." Star Swirl the Bearded replied,

"Art thou the maker of the Virtues, Virtue?" Pinkie Pie asked,

"Nay, Virtue is just my name." Virtue replied,

"What do the Virtues represent?" Rainbow Dash asked,

"Humility is not taking pride in anything, it also means no bragging or boasting, Kindness is self explanatory, it's be nice and friendly to all life, not just ponies, Charity is one you all should know, it's helping others by sacrificing your own things, Temperance is being in control of yourself and not overindulging in anything, along with not acting on impulse, Diligence is work hard and overcoming problems in life, Chastity is no romantic relationships outside of your marriage, and Patience is also self explanatory, don't get mad." Star Swirl the Bearded replied,

"The Virtues don't sound related to friendship." Starlight Glimmer said,

"They're not, and remember, they were our values before the Windigos came." Star Swirl the Bearded replied,

"Friendship was somedeal valuable back then." Virtue said, which meant "Friendship was somewhat valuable back then.",

"Aye, it was. What was thy degree in Princess Platinum's host, Virtue?" Star Swirl the Bearded asked, which meant "Yes, it was. What was your rank in Princess Platinum's army, Virtue?",

"Brigadier." Virtue replied,

"Wow, that's actually a pretty high rank." Twilight Sparkle said,

"I've never heard of that rank." Rainbow Dash said,

"It's an old title for the unicorn army, it's not in service anymore." Twilight Sparkle replied,

"We are done, Virtue, we shall leave." Star Swirl the Bearded said, and he and the Pillars walked away,

"Say, where's Stygian?" Spike asked,

"He said he's too busy writing at the moment to come, but I'm sure he understands what Virtue says." Twilight Sparkle replied,

"Thou shouldest behold Ponyville, Virtue, thou mightest like it." Pinkie Pie said, which meant "You should see Ponyville, Virtue, you might like it.",

"I am fine hither as a mechanical." Virtue replied, which meant "I'm fine here as a manual worker.",

"How dost thou suffer such moil?" Pinkie Pie asked, which meant "How do you endure such drudgery?",

"Virutes of Patience and Diligence." Virtue replied,

"Is there anypony else who understands him?" Rainbow Dash asked,

"I understand some of it." Sweetie Belle replied,

"I understand him a bit, too." Rarity said,

"Um, I might... I think I have a dictionary for his language." Fluttershy said,

"Come on, Virtue, thou might likest Ponyville." Pinkie Pie said, and she hopped away while Virtue walked into Ponyville.

Virtue walked into Ponyville and saw everypony getting on with their days,

"Ah, Virtue, thither thou art." a male voice said, Virtue looked to his left and saw Doctor Whooves walking to him,

"I am Doctor Whooves, I am a time traveler." Doctor Whooves said,

"Now that I look at thou, thou dost look familiar." Virtue said,

"Wouldest thou like to return to thy time?" Doctor Whooves asked,

"Nay, I would like to fare Ponyville and observe what has changed." Virtue replied,

"Okay, and be think oneself of, mine door is always open." Doctor Whooves said, and he walked away. Virtue looked around and saw foals running to Sugarcube Corner, he followed them and saw Pinkie Pie taking orders,

"Alright, everypony, calm down, one at a time, please." Pinkie Pie said, and she gave candy to each foal when they paid her,

"Wait." Virtue said, the ponies looked at him,

"Foals must payeth to receive wittles?" Pinkie Pie asked,

"Yea, why?" Pinkie Pie asked,

"Back in mine time, foals received sweetmeat for free." Virtue replied, which meant "Back in my time, foals got confectionaries for free.", the foals screamed in horror,

"No, no, everypony, listen to me." Pinkie Pie said, the foals looked at her,

"Sweetmeat is his way of referring to any sweet food or confectionery." Pinkie Pie said,

"Oh." the foals said,

"What brings foals hither?" Virtue asked,

"Foals love my sweetmeat, cupcakes are my specialty." Pinkie Pie replied,

"What are cupcakes?" Virtue asked,

"Thou not hast cupcakes back in thine time?" Pinkie Pie asked,

"Nay." Virtue replied,

"What sweetmeats did thou hast?" Pinkie Pie asked,

"Apples, pears, and oranges." Virtue replied,

"Can thou makest one?" Pinkie Pie asked,

"Aye." Virtue replied, and he went behind the counter. Virtue got apples, pears, and oranges, he cut them into slices and looked around, he cast a spell and made a campfire appear, he saw a pan in the kitchen and got it with his telekinesis, he cast a spell to light the campfire, he put the sliced fruits into the pan and cooked them while the others watched with surprise, he cooked for twenty minutes and then let the fruits sit, he arranged the plates and put two apple slices, two orange slices, and two pear slices on each plate, he then got honey with his telekinesis and glazed it over the fruits. Virtue handed out the plates to Pinkie Pie and the foals, they looked at the fruits,

"Sweetmeat is served." Virtue said,

"But 'tis a scantling." Pinkie Pie replied, which meant "But it's a small amount.",

"That is wonted size in mine time." Virtue said, which meant "That is average size in my time.", Pinkie Pie screamed while the foals looked at her,

"This is regular size for sweetmeat in thine time?!" Pinkie Pie asked, Virtue nodded while smiling,

"But this is tiny." Pinkie Pie said,

"What is wonted size?" Virtue asked, Pinkie Pie trotted and held her hoof out at the pies and cakes,

"Egad. Average wittle size hath becometh gargantuan." Virtue said,

"All the more fun, Virtue." Pinkie Pie replied, the foals smiled,

"What an 'tis not fun?" Virtue asked, which meant "What if it's not fun?",

"Then thou shouldest assay something else." Pinkie Pie replied, which meant "Then you should attempt something else.",

"And stop doing what I was doing beforetime?" Virtue asked, Pinkie Pie nodded,

"That is also peccant." Virtue said,

"Huh? What dost thou mean... Oh, diligence." Pinkie Pie replied, Virtue nodded,

"I shall yede now." Virtue said, which meant "I shall go now.",

"Wait, Virtue, before thou yedeth, come." Pinkie Pie replied, and he followed her. Pinkie Pie led Virtue to the kitchen and she showed him the oven,

"'Tis a oven, now used for cooking and baking." Pinkie Pie said, Virtue looked at it,

"'Tis different from my time." Virtue replied,

"Yea, oven hath changed over the twelvemonths." Pinkie Pie said, Virtue looked and saw the oven had more functions than just cooking, and its temperature could be adjusted,

"Dost thou likest what thou seest?" Pinkie Pie asked,

"I do not know what to say, I shall yede now." Virtue replied,

"Bye, Virtue." Pinkie Pie said as Virtue left Sugarcube Corner.

Virtue trotted around Ponyville and looked at the architecture since they caught his eyes,

"Thank you, come again." a female voice said, Virtue looked and saw Roseluck selling flowers, Doctor Whooves was with her, Virtue trotted to them to see what they were doing,

"Hi, what flowers would you like?" Roseluck asked,

"Is she thy hoofmaid?" Virtue asked, which meant "Is she your female servant?",

"Nay, this is Roseluck, she is mine fair and feminal marefriend, she doth not speaketh thy tongue." Doctor Whooves replied, which meant "No, this is Roseluck, she is my beautiful and feminine girlfriend, she doesn't speak your language.",

"'Tis nice to see Equestria still selleth flowers, what are the flowers for?" Virtue asked,

"What did he say?" Roseluck asked,

"He asked what are the flowers for." Doctor Whooves replied,

"Oh, they're for many occasions, Virtue, parties, weddings, birthdays, fashion, art, you name it, we have flowers for almost every occasion." Roseluck said,

"Flowers are for all situations." Doctor Whooves said,

"Yes, and I hoofpick all the beautiful ones." Roseluck said as she spun around while holding a boutique,

"I behold thou takest pride in thine flowers, all forms of pride are peccant." Virtue said, which meant "I see you take pride in your flowers, all forms of pride are sinful.",

"What did he say that time?" Roseluck asked,

"He said he can tell you take pride in your work, and all forms of pride are sinful." Doctor Whooves replied,

"Um... Virtue, you might want to keep that to yourself." Roseluck said,

"Thou shalt keep that to thyself, it shall maketh many mad." Doctor Whooves said,

"Equestria hath also lost humility? My, Equestria hath been demoralized." Virtue said, which meant "Equestria has also lost humility? My, Equestria's morals have been corrupted.",

"I am sorry, Virtue, but yea, Equestria hath lost humility." Doctor Whooves replied, Virtue frowned a little,

"Humility is most important Virtue." Virtue said,

"There's nothing wrong with being proud with what you do, Virtue." Roseluck replied,

"Many ponies are prideful, Virtue, behold for thyself." Doctor Whooves said, and Virtue looked around and listened. Virtue saw Rainbow Dash fly around and did stunts,

"There you all go, three extra cheers for how awesome I am!" Rainbow Dash said,

"Come get yer apples, best apples in all of Equestria." Applejack said,

"Come now, darlings, come and look at my beauty and be amazed." Rarity said as she posed for pictures,

"Now, the Great and Powerful Trixie will put on a show for you feeble minded ponies, watch and observe Trixie's raw magical talent." Trixie said,

"Behold, Virtue, all ponies hath pride now." Doctor Whooves said,

"Am I in a demoralized Equestria?" Virtue asked,

"Nay, values hath changed over time." Doctor Whooves replied,

"I shall suffer it, howbeit." Virtue replied, which meant "I shall tolerate it, nevertheless.", and he trotted away.

Virtue walked around and noticed Lyra Heartstrings and Sweetie Drops holding hoofs together,

"Egad. Sith whenas doth Equestria permit same gender love?" Virtue asked, which meant "Egad. Since when did Equestria allow same gender love?", he looked around more and saw other ponies dating, but it was between stallions and mares,

"Ah, it seemeth Equestria still hath chastity." Virtue said with a smile on his face, he smiled at seeing the ponies being peaceful and he walked a little, he saw the school and went there. Cheerilee was getting ready for tomorrow and Virtue entered,

"Good noon, Virtue, how art thou?" Cheerilee asked,

"Better. Art thou the schoolmare?" Virtue asked,

"Yea, I am Cheerilee, and this is mine schoolhouse." Cheerilee replied,

"What dost thou learn?" Virtue asked,

"I learn anent everything, I am just one schoolmare, Virtue." Cheerilee replied,

"Can I behold thy books?" Virute asked,

"Yea, Virtue, thou mayest." Cheerilee replied, and Virtue went over to her collection of books. Virtue used telekinesis to grab Cheerilee's books and opened them, he looked and tried to read, he could not understand the sentences, they looked like words from his language used the wrong way mixed with words from another language, he looked at the words silently and tried to make out what the sentences said based off of the words he knew,

"Um, Virtue?" Cheerilee asked, Virtue looked at her,

"Art thou hathing trouble?" Cheerilee asked,

"Aye." Virtue replied, Cheerilee trotted over and looked at what he was reading, she saw he was reading a history book,

"Would thou likest me to translate?" Cheerilee asked,

"An 'tis not troublesome." Virtue replied, which meant "If it's not troublesome.",

"Nay, Virtue, 'tis my job as a schoolmare." Cheerilee said, and she translated the words into his language and he listened, Cheerilee looked at the clock much later,

"Oh, 'tis late, Virtue, I have to go home." Cheerilee said,

"Okay, bye." Virtue said,

"Bye." Cheerilee said, and Virtue left the school.

Virtue walked around a little and saw everypony getting ready for lunch, his stomach growled and he headed back to Sweet Apple Acres. Virtue ate his breakfast for lunch and only had another quarter of it, he finished while the Apple family watched him and were still speechless over how little he ate,

"I thank thee." Virtue said, and he left the table, he looked for a book to read and found one of Apple Bloom's books from school, he opened it and saw it was a book full of math equations, he went outside and sat and read the book. The Apple family finished lunch and went outside and saw Virtue reading,

"Virtue." Apple Bloom said, Virtue looked up,

"What art thou doin' now?" Apple Bloom asked,

"Noon training." Virtue replied, and he continued solving the math equations in his head,

"Um, Virtue." Apple Bloom said, Virtue looked at her again,

"Um... How doth... training work... eth?" Apple Bloom asked,

"I have thrice trainings, morning is body, noon is mind, night is spirit." Virtue replied,

"Um... what is spirit trainin'?" Applejack asked,

"Meditation." Virtue replied,

"No magic trainin'?" Apple Bloom asked,

"'Tis part of noon training." Virtue replied,

"Oh." Apple Bloom said,

"Thou needest book back?" Virtue asked,

"When thou is done." Apple Bloom replied, and Virtue continued reading, he saw the book was all basic math problems, it was adding numbers that equaled to a hundred, subtracting numbers that equaled to zero, multiplication problems that went from 1x1 to 12x12, and division problems that only went from 1/1 to 12/12. Virtue closed the book,

"This is too easy." Virtue said, as he handed the book back with telekinesis, Applejack did the gesture to tell Virtue to come with her again and he followed her.

Virtue was led to Twilight Sparkle's castle by Applejack and she took him to her library,

"Alright, Virtue, I have books on every subject, feel free to browse." Twilight Sparkle said, and Virtue looked at her books, it was a book on recipes,

"Whenas did Equestria begineth collecting recipes?" Virtue asked, which meant "When did Equestria begin collecting medical prescriptions?", he opened the book and his eyes widened,

"Egad. These are receipts, not recipes." Virtue said, which meant "Egad. These are recipes, not medical prescriptions.",

"Say what now, Virtue?" Applejack asked, Twilight Sparkle ran and looked at the book,

"Oh, thou beholdest, Virtue, the word recipe replaced the word receipt over the twelvemonths." Twilight Sparkle said,

"Oh, no wonder why." Virtue replied,

"You got any books he could train his mind with, Twilight?" Applejack asked,

"Sure. What did thou trainest thy brain with back in thy time, Virtue?" Twilight Sparkle asked,

"Sudoku." Virtue replied, Twilight Sparkle's jaw dropped a little,

"Wow, I could never solve those." Twilight Sparkle said,

"What did he use now?" Applejack asked,

"Sudoku, you have nine three-by-three squares and you have to fill them in with the numbers one through nine, but you can't have the same number twice in each column, row, or square." Twilight Sparkle replied,

"Wow, that sounds tough." Applejack said,

"It is, I think I have one somewhere." Twilight Sparkle replied, and she went through her books and found one, she gave it to Virtue,

"Hither thou yedest, Virtue." Twilight Sparkle said,

"I thank thee." Virtue said,

"Thou art welcomest." Twilight Sparkle replied,

"Say, Twilight, do ya have a dictionary that tells ya what the words of his language means in our language?" Applejack asked,

"I should, I'm going to see if I can find it." Twilight Sparkle replied, and she trotted away while Virtue and Applejack left.

Virtue walked to an area in Ponyville that was all grass and no one around, he read the Sudoku puzzles and solved them in his head,

"*gasp* What is that?" Silverstream asked, Virtue turned around and saw Sandbar, Gallus, Ocellus, Smolder, Yona, and Silverstream coming to him, Sandbar, Ocellus, Smolder, and Yona walked to him while Gallus and Silverstream flew, Virtue went back to solving the Sudoku puzzles in his head,

"What's it called?" Sandbar asked,

"Can thou assayest to speakest in mine tongue, prithee?" Virtue asked, which meant "Can you attempt to speak in my language, please?",

"Yona not understand pony." Yona said,

"Don't you know his language, Ocellus?" Gallus asked,

"No, we never learned his language in class." Ocellus replied,

"What about you, Sandbar?" Silverstream asked,

"No, I don't understand Old Ponish, either." Sandbar replied,

"Fine, I'll just check the title of the book." Gallus said, and he looked,

"Sudoku." Gallus said,

"What's Sudoku?" Ocellus asked, the six students murmured,

"'Tis a game to train the mind." Virtue said,

"How does it work?" Smolder asked,

"Thou must fillest all nine thrice-by-thrice squares with numbers one through nine, but each number can only be used once in each column, row, and thrice-by-thrice square." Virtue replied,

"Wait, he understands us?" Smolder asked,

"I don't think so, I think he's able to interpret what we're saying by understanding the meaning of some of the words in our sentences." Ocellus replied,

"Even though his language uses some of the same words as ours, they still have different meanings." Sandbar said,

"I know, let's look for a dictionary in our school that tells us what the words of his language mean in our language and vice-versa." Silverstream said,

"I don't think we have one." Sandbar replied, they looked and saw Yona was reading with Virtue,

"Ugh! Sudoku hard!" Yona said,

"Patience, Yona." Virtue said,

"Sudoku also boring!" Yona said,

"Diligence." Virtue said,

"Yaks work hard, yaks are best workers!" Yona said,

"Humility." Virtue said, and he continued to solve the Sudoku puzzle in his head, Ocellus walked to him and tried as well. Virtue continued to solve to Sudoku puzzle and the six students joined him, Virtue solved the first puzzle after about three hours and went to the next one, he looked and saw the six students were exhausted from trying to do Sudoku in their heads,

"*chuckle* I was the same whenas I begun." Virtue said, and they continued to solve the problems in their heads,

"Virtue?" Silverstream asked, he looked to his left and faced her,

"Can we... um..." Silverstream said, she did sign language that asked him if they could write down their answers in the book, Virtue nodded and put the book down. Virtue watched the six students try to solve the first Sudoku puzzle, the six students struggled while Virtue watched them,

"Grrrr. How am I supposed to solve this?!" Silverstream asked while raising her voice and her face red, and they kept trying,

"No, we already have that number in this square. See, it's right there." Ocellus said as she pointed to it, her friends' faces contorted with anger, they tried to solve the Sudoku puzzle while Virtue watched and waited patiently,

"Ugh! Yona give up." Yona said,

"Fine, here, you solve it." Gallus said as he handed the book and pencil to Virtue. Virtue wrote the numbers down in the Sudoku equation while the six students watched, they gasped when they checked his answers and saw they were all correct,

"Wow, he actually solved it." Smolder said,

"I need to take a break." Sandbar said,

"Me too, my brain's fried." Silverstream said,

"Come on, everyone, let's go do something fun." Smolder said, and they left. Virtue continued to solve the Sudoku puzzles in his head while the afternoon went by,

"Here you all go." Fluttershy said, Virtue looked up and saw Fluttershy feeding the fish in the water, the birds flew down to her,

"Hold on, everybody, I'll get to you all soon." Fluttershy said, and she continued to feed the fish. Virtue watched Fluttershy and smiled before going back to solving Sudoku puzzles in his head,

"Excuse me, Virtue." Fluttershy said as she walked to him several minutes later, he put the book down,

"Um, would thou... like a pet?" Fluttershy asked, Virtue shook his head,

"Animals are not pets, they are equal to ponies." Virtue said,

"Oh, um, I never thought of it that way." Fluttershy said,

"Dost thou symbolize kindness?" Virtue asked,

"Well, yea, but..." Fluttershy said,

"Then thou shouldest behold fauna as people, not pets." Virtue said,

"Um, I don't think pet... hath the same meaning as... afore." Fluttershy said,

"Pet is a peccant term from my time, 'tis used to refer to ponies and fauna as savages." Virtue replied,

"Oh. Um, pet now means animal friend, Virtue." Fluttershy said,

"Ah, I shall assay to bethink oneself of it." Virtue replied,

"Would thou likest to... um... what was the word... behold all my fauna friends?" Fluttershy asked,

"Aye." Virtue said,

"This way." Fluttershy replied, and the two trotted together.

Fluttershy took Virtue to her animal sanctuary and he saw the many animals, Virtue nodded while smiling,

"'Tis nice to see Equestria hath not lost kindness." Virtue said, the animals except for Angel went to Virtue, he got on his knees and petted all of them,

"Hither thou go, Virtue." Fluttershy said, and she gave him the pet food. Virtue walked around and fed the animals, Fluttershy watched with surprise at the fact that Virtue knew what foods to give to which animal without having to be told, Virtue came to Angel and tried to feed him, he rejected the food, Virtue tried offering the food to him slowly, Angel rejected it again, so Virtue just put his meal on the ground and went on to the next animals. Virtue fed the other animals and they went to him, he petted each one, he looked and saw a giraffe,

"I have always wished to behold a camelopard." Virtue said, the animals look at him with confusion. Discord poofed and appeared in front of Virtue,

"It's his way of saying giraffe, everybody." Discord said,

"Discord! What art thou dosting hither?" Virtue asked,

"Fluttershy hath becometh my friend, she comes to my home for tea." Discord replied,

"Equestria hath giveth thou shrift?" Virtue asked, which meant "Equestria has given you forgivness?",

"Aye, Equestra hath becometh more shrifting thro the twelvemonths." Discord replied, which meant "Yes, Equestria has become more forgiving through the years.",

"Yea, Virtue... um... I have... shrifted Discord and... um... become... his friend." Fluttershy said as she looked into a book,

"What is that book?" Virtue asked,

"Um... 'tis a dictionary, Virtue." Fluttershy replied, and she showed it to him, Virtue looked and saw the words of his language and the modern language,

"Dost thou hath another?" Virtue asked,

"Sorry, Virtue, but nay." Fluttershy replied, Discord made one appear for Virtue,

"Hither thou yedest, Virtue." Discord said,

"I thank thee." Virtue said, and he took it, but the book began to move on its own and said the words of Virtue's language at random,

"Discord, give Virtue a regular book." Fluttershy said a little sternly,

"Oh, alright, it'll spoil the fun, though." Discord replied, and he snapped his hand and the book became normal,

"I thank thee." Virtue said,

"Yeah, yeah, thou art welcomest." Discord replied, and he went back to feeding the animals. Virtue watched the animals eat their meals but Angel did not, Virtue read the new book he got in his free time and studied the words, he saw the dictionary also had pronounciations beside each word,

"Snack time, everyanimal." Fluttershy said, and she came with fruits,

"Virtue." Fluttershy said, he closed the book and looked at her, she gave him fruits,

"Can you help me feed the animals?" Fluttershy asked, Virtue went through the dictionary,

"Sure." Virtue replied,

"Thank you, and good luck." Fluttershy said, and they fed the animals. Virtue handed out the fruits with his telekinesis and saw Angel did not eat his lunch, so he did not give any to Angel, his attention was caught and he hopped to Virtue, he squeaked angrily at him, Virtue shook his head, Angel jumped up and down while squeaking angrily,

"If thou dost not eatest thine hay, thou canest not hast any pudding." Virtue said, which meant "If you don't eat your hay, you can't have any puddings.", Angel squeaked louder and more angrily while jumping up and down,

"No, Virtue." Fluttershy said while she flew to him, she looked into her dictionary,

"An Angel Bunny... um... doth not...receivest his snacks... um... he shalt not behaveth." Fluttershy said, which meant "If Angel Bunny doesn't receive his snacks, he won't behave."

"Back then, those who doth not consumeth meals do not receive other wittles until meal is consumed." Virtue replied,

"What? Art thou saying I can not have a snack or dessert until I finish breakfast, lunch, or dinner?" Discord asked,

"Aye." Virtue replied,

"Virtue, we don't do that, we just take the meal back and give them something they like instead." Fluttershy said, Virtue went through his dictionary,

"And spoil the person or... animal?" Virtue asked,

"Well, I wouldn't say spoil, but it does let them behave, now come on, Virtue, give Angel his snack so he won't be hungry later." Fluttershy replied, Virtue exhaled through his snout a little sharply and gave Angel his snack, he squeaked happily and ate like a pig,

"Now, now, Virtue, I know that thou... art bitter,... but... thou... hast... donest... a good deed." Fluttershy said,

"That rabbit is spoiled." Virtue replied,

"Now, Virtue, Angel may act immature, but he's really a good rabbit at heart." Fluttershy said, Virtue looked through his dictionary,

"He... would... have... received... a beating... back in... my time." Virtue replied,

"Oh, don't do that, you'll only make him act worse." Fluttershy said,

"'Tis a way to discipline scapegraces." Virtue replied, which meant "It's a way to discipline rascals.", Fluttershy looked through her dictionary to see what the last word in his sentence meant,

"Um, wouldeth Discord be... disciplined?" Fluttershy asked,

"Aye." Virtue replied,

"Me? Require discipline? Verily, thou art joking." Discord said, which meant "Me? Require discipline? Truly, you're joking.",

"Nay." Virtue replied,

"I just stare sharply to get animals to behave, Virtue, what did you do to discipline others?" Fluttershy asked, Virtue went through the dictionary,

"We... usually... slapped them, or... give... out... beatings... if they... really... misbehave." Virtue replied,

"Don't do that, Virtue, you should sit down and talk things out, and try to come up with a solution you both can be happy with." Fluttershy said,

"Is Discord the disciplinarian?" Virtue asked,

"Nay, of course not, discipline is a part of order, I find order to be loathly." Discord replied,

"Are you still going to help me feed the animals, Virtue?" Fluttershy asked, Virtue looked through his dictionary to understand what she said,

"Aye." Virtue said,

"Come on, this way." Fluttershy said, and she flew to the Everfree Forest,

"Into the greenwood?" Virtue asked, which meant "Into the forest?",

"Yea, come on now." Fluttershy replied, and they went into the Everfree Forest.

Virtue and Fluttershy entered the Everfree Forest and Fluttershy led Virtue through the forest, he saw all of the animals and smiled, Virtue fed the animals while Fluttershy watched him,

"Wow, um, how dost thou know what to give fauna?" Fluttershy asked slowly,

"I have received knowledge in mine host training." Virtue replied, Fluttershy looked through her dictionary to see what he said,

"Over here, Virtue." Fluttershy said, and she led him, the two fed more animals and they petted whoever came to them, the two finished after several minutes,

"Thank you, Virtue." Fluttershy said,

"Nay need to thank me." Virtue replied,

"My, I apologize for being rude, but I did not think the rumors were true." a voice said, Virtue and Fluttershy looked and saw Zecora walking with a bag of groceries,

"It's alright. This is Zecora, Virtue, she lives in the forest." Fluttershy said,

"A zebra. Thou art not from hither." Virtue said,

"While I am familiar with the languages of this land, his language, I do not understand." Zecora said,

"We're having trouble understanding him, too, he speaks Old Ponish." Fluttershy replied,

"Zebras were not in Equestria long agone." Virtue said,

"You sound like you are an actor for a play, since I cannot understand the words you say." Zecora said, Fluttershy and Virtue looked through their dictionaries,

"He said zebras weren't in Equestria long ago." Fluttershy said,

"Ah, it is true, we were not, we came here because our home got too hot." Zecora replied,

"Wow, who would've thought." Fluttershy said,

"I will head on home, as I have alchemy skills to hone." Zecora said,

"Okay, bye, Zecora." Fluttershy said, and she headed home,

"I shall yede otherwhere now." Virtue said, which meant "I shall go elsewhere now.", Fluttershy looked through her dictionary to see what he said,

"Oh, okay, bye, Virtue." Fluttershy said, and Virtue used telekinesis to fly up to the top of the Everfree Forest to find Ponyville, he saw it and he floated back down and trotted there.

Virtue trotted back to Equestria and saw Trixie and Starlight Glimmer walking by,

"Oh, Virtue, this is Trixie, now before you go on talking about Trixie having too much pride, she's a showmare, so it's her job to be like that." Starlight Glimmer said, Virtue went through his dictionary to see what Starlight Glimmer said,

"Oh, thou not needest that around me, the Great and Powerful Trixie is fluent in thine tongue." Trixie said,

"WHAT?! You understand him?!" Starlight Glimmer asked,

"Of course, it is a requirement for showponies to learn Old Ponish, it makes the performances more dramatic." Trixie replied,

"Showponies did not taketh pride in their jobs back then." Virtue said,

"Now, Virtue, I was prideful back then, but Trixie hath receiveth humility from Twitter-light Sparkle, she is not prideful as she used to be." Trixie said,

"Thou art still arrogant and prideful by my time's customs." Virtue said,

"Well, then thou must suffer my showponyship, and thou must growest wont to my bragging sith 'tis a part of the show." Trixie replied, which meant "Well, then you must tolerate my showponyship, and you must grow accustomed to my bragging since it is a part of the show.",

"Art thou ware of how loathly one can find thy act to be?" Virtue asked, "Are you aware of how repulsive one can find your act to be?",

"Yea, but 'tis parcel of mine charm." Trixie replied, which meant "Yes, but it's part of my charm.",

"Thou canest use more humility." Virtue said,

"I have received enow." Trixie replied, which meant "I have received enough.",

"Trixie, we're going to be late for our next show." Starlight Glimmer said,

"Oh, right, I bid thee farewell, we hath a show to perform." Trixie said, and the two walked away, Virtue continued walking around Ponyville.

Virtue walked around Ponyville and saw everypony getting on with their days, he saw Cranky Doodle Donkey walking around,

"So, Equestria hath donkies as well." Virtue said, he looked around and saw ponies leaving Carousel Boutique, his curiosity was caught and he entered, he heard the bell above the door ring,

"Good day... oh, why, hello, Virtue." Rarity said,

"Oh, this place is a raiment shop." Virtue said as he looked at the dresses, he saw Sweetie Belle looking at him and held a dictionary with her telekinesis,

"Um... What... wouldest... thou like, Virtue?" Sweetie Belle asked,

"Thou her hoofmaid?" Virtue asked, which meant "You her female servant?",

"Nay, Virtue, Sweetie Belle is mine sister." Rarity said,

"What did gowns look like back in thine time, Virtue?" Sweetie Belle asked,

"Long, floor-length." Virtue replied,

"Hither is a modern gown." Rarity said as she trotted to one and looked at her dictionary, Virtue looked at it,

"'Tis different from gowns of mine time." Virtue said,

"How so?" Sweetie Belle asked,

"Well, gowns back then were not open in front, 'twas closed." Virtue replied,

"Really?" Sweetie Belle asked,

"Yes, Sweetie Belle, dresses back then were always closed in front of a mare's hind legs, they put the open space later so it would be easier for them to walk." Rarity replied, Virtue looked his through his dictionary,

"I... always... wondered why... the dresses... were... open in the front." Virtue said,

"Is thither anything else that is different?" Rarity asked,

"Stallions hath no trousers." Virtue replied,

"Huh?" Sweetie Belle asked,

"That's true, too, Sweetie Belle, male ponies all wore trousers a long time ago, they stopped being popular around the time when Equestria was founded." Rarity replied,

"So, um, what... would thou... likest, Virtue?" Sweetie Belle asked,

"Just looking around." Virtue replied,

"Oh, well, go ahead and feel free to look around, Virtue, and ask me anything you like, I have a kirtle to make, so I'll be a bit busy." Rarity said, and she trotted away. Rarity began getting her textile works and her sewing machine ready, Rarity soon began to sew with the sewing machine,

"Is raiment making no longer done by hoof?" Virtue asked,

"Nay, Virtue, 'tis not, I have a deadline, too." Rarity replied,

"Raiment making had no deadline back then." Virtue said,

"Well, I have fashion shows, and those are on certain days, that's why I have a deadline." Rarity replied,

"Raiment shows did not happen until raiments were finished." Virtue said,

"Well, Virtue, they are busy, and don't have time to wait." Rarity replied,

"More like no patience." Virtue said,

"Virtue, thou shouldest be more open, mayhaps an thou speakest to them, they shall rearrange." Sweetie Belle said,

"No, Sweetie Belle, they won't, if you don't get the dresses done on time, you're fired." Rarity replied,

"Fired?" Virtue asked,

"Thou losest thy occupation." Rarity replied, which meant "You lose your job.",

"They wouldeth lose occupation back afore I was glaciated." Virtue said, which meant "They would lose job back before I was frozen over.",

"Things are not like that anymore, Virtue, they are just doing their jobs now." Rarity said, Virtue inhaled and exhaled a little sharply,

"Can I assist?" Virtue asked,

"Why, Virtue, sweeting, aye, thou mayest, I have a list o'er thither of things to do." Rarity replied, which meant "Why, Virtue, darling, yes, you may, I have a list over there of things to do.", and Virtue trotted to it and looked. Virtue used telekinesis to get a sewing thread and a needle, Rarity gave Virtue the dress she needed to be finished for him to sew. Virtue sat and put the thread in the fabric and began sewing by hoof,

"Um, Virtue, thou wilt get more done if thou usest the sewing machine." Rarity said, Virtue looked at one and messed with it a little,

"Did Equestria hath them back in thine time?" Sweetie Belle asked,

"Nay." Virtue replied, and he continued turning the knobs on the sewing machine to see how it worked. Rarity trotted over to Virtue and showed him how to use the sewing machine,

"I thank thee." Virtue said,

"Thou art welcometh." Rarity replied, and Virtue tried to use the sewing machine, he worked slowly and carefully so he does not cut himself, he worked and sewed the light blue thread into the dress,

"Aw, there's no more." Sweetie Belle said, Virtue looked and saw Sweetie Belle sewing a dress, but she ran out of the thread she was using, he looked and saw it was the same color thread he was using. Virtue looked at the remaining color threads and saw there were no more light blue threads, so he used his telekinesis to take the thread out of the dress he worked on and gave it to Sweetie Belle,

"Oh, thank you, Virtue." Sweetie Belle said, and she continued sewing the dress she was working on and finished,

"Yay!" Sweetie Belle said, and she put the dress on while Virtue watched and smiled. Sweetie Belle danced around in the new dress and had fun while Virtue looked around to see if he could use a similar color for the dress he was working on,

"'Tis alright, Virtue, I shall get more of that color later whenas I have the time." Rarity said,

"Is thither anything else thou needest done?" Virtue asked,

"Nay, that is all, I thank thee for thy help." Rarity said,

"I bid thou farewell, then." Virtue replied as he bowed, and he exited Carousel Boutique while Sweetie Belle waved bye at him.

Virtue headed outside and saw Rainbow Dash flying around in the air and doing stunts, he watched her and smiled at seeing Rainbow Dash trying to improve her own flying skills, he trotted around so he could watch her closely. Virtue heard exclaims of awe and saw many other Pegasi watching Rainbow Dash, they flew up to try the stunts with her, he saw Scootaloo was still on the ground and looked on with a longing face, she tried to fly and join the others but fell, she stood back up and looked down. Virtue trotted to her and looked at her wings,

"Thou canest not fly?" Virtue asked,

"I don't understand Old Ponish, Virtue." Scootaloo said, Virtue looked through his dictionary,

"You... can... not... fly?" Virtue asked,

"No, my wings are disabled." Scootaloo replied,

"Do... you... have... any... practice wings?" Virtue asked,

"Practice wings?" Scootaloo asked,

"Wings... that... were... used... to... help Pegasi fly... if they... had... trouble." Virtue replied,

"Oh, no, we never use them now." Scootaloo said,

"Do... you... have... any... scrap... metals?" Virtue asked,

"Yes, I do, they're at my house." Scootaloo replied,

"Take... me... there." Virtue said, and the two went to Scootaloo's house. Virtue used hammers and nails and shot fire from his horn to weld together whatever he was building, he finished and went outside, Scootaloo saw they were black frames with silver metallic feathers on them. Virtue put the wings on Scootaloo with his telekinesis, he smiled and nodded. Scootaloo flapped her wings and tried to fly, the metallic wings made a lot of wind and blew Virtue's mane and tail back, Scootaloo continued flapping her wings and the weight of the wings made it harder for her to fly up, she kept flapping but soon fell onto the ground. Virtue helped Scootaloo stand up and used his magic to unfold the metallic feathers, Scootaloo tried flapping her wings and she had an easier time getting off of the ground since more wind got caught under the feathers, she generated more wind from the extended metallic feathers and flapped her wings more,

"I got it." Scootaloo said, Virtue smiled and looked into his dictionary,

"Now... try... flying... around... a... bit." Virtue said, and Scootaloo tried. Scootaloo flew around while Virtue watched her, she tried to do the same stunts as Rainbow Dash but could not, and crashed onto the ground. Virtue teleported to her and checked her to make sure she was alright, Scootaloo stood up and tried again, she flew slowly and flew up higher while Virtue watched. Scootaloo tried to fly up higher and into the clouds, she tried to fly upside-down, but the wings fell off, Scootaloo fell while Virtue was about to cast telekinesis, but Rainbow Dash flew and caught Scootaloo and the wings, she flew down and put Scootaloo and the wings on the ground,

"What are you doing, Scootaloo?" Rainbow Dash asked,

"Virtue is trying to help me fly." Scootaloo replied,

"Aye, I think Scootaloo may fly after some training." Virtue said,

"Virtue, before you start speaking your language, I don't understand Old Ponish at all." Rainbow Dash said, Virtue opened his dictionary with his telekinesis,

"Virtue made these wings appear for me with his magic, they're kind of heavy, though." Scootaloo said,

"That... is... the... point,... they... are... heavy... so... when... you... fly... without... them,... it... will... be... easy." Virtue said,

"Well, let's give it a try, Scootaloo." Rainbow Dash said, and Scootaloo flapped her wings around and tried to fly, it was easier for her to get off the ground and she stayed in the air longer, but she still fell onto the ground. Scootaloo stood back up,

"Wow, I actually flew a little better that time." Scootaloo said,

"Your wings... are... a... bit... small... for... your... age." Virtue said as he went through the dictionary,

"They are, but I can make my scooter go faster with them." Scootaloo replied,

"Scooter?" Virtue asked, Scootaloo went to go get it,

"Is it a new creation?" Virtue asked,

"Well, maybe for you, but scooters have been around ever since I was a foal." Rainbow Dash replied,

"How... does... it... work?" Virtue asked while going through his dictionary,

"Like this." Scootaloo replied, and she put her helmet on and rode it while Virtue watched,

"What... has happened to... traveling by hoof?" Virtue asked,

"We still do it, but we use the train now since it's faster." Rainbow Dash replied,

"What train?" Virtue asked, Rainbow Dash pointed at it and Virtue saw the Friendship Express,

"We always... traveled by hoof back in... my time." Virtue said,

"Yeah, well, some places are dangerous to travel to, that's another reason why we have the train." Rainbow Dash replied,

"Um, can I get back to my flying training?" Scootaloo asked,

"Oh, sure, Scootaloo." Rainbow Dash replied, and Scootaloo flew with the practice wings. Rainbow Dash flew around with Scootaloo and made sure she flew fine while Virtue also watched, Scootaloo panted and flew back down while sweating,

"I need to rest a bit." Scootaloo said,

"Can I try the wings?" Rainbow Dash asked, and Scootaloo gave them to her and Rainbow Dash put them on. Rainbow Dash flew around with the practice wings and could not fly as fast as she usually could,

"These are actually a little heavy." Rainbow Dash said, and she tried to fly around a bit while the ponies watched her, she tried to do stunts and the practice wings fell off when she flew upside-down, Virtue caught them with his telekinesis. Rainbow Dash flew around a bit more and went down to Scootaloo,

"*pant* *pant* That's all for now, Scootaloo, I'm going to go take a nap now." Rainbow Dash said,

"Alright, goodbye, Rainbow." Scootaloo said, and Rainbow Dash flew up onto a cloud and slept,

"I'm going to take a break, too, Virtue, my wings are tired." Scootaloo said, and she got on her scooter with the practice wings and drove away.

Virtue walked around and saw everypony was getting ready to settle down, he looked at the sky and saw it was almost dark, he decided to go back to Sweet Apple Acres and trotted there,

"Oh, yer back, Virtue, it ain't dinnertime yet." Applejack said, Virtue looked through the dictionary to understand what she said,

"Where did ya get that?" Applejack asked,

"Discord." Virtue replied,

"Wow, even Discord doesn't understand ya?" Applejack asked,

"No... he... does, he... gave this... to me... so I can... understand... the others." Virtue replied,

"So, who in Ponyville can understand ya besides Twilight and Pinkie Pie?" Applejack asked,

"Fluttershy, Rarity, and Sweetie Belle... understand... some... of my language,... and Maud Pie, Cheerilee, Discord, Trixie, and Doctor Whooves... understand me... completely." Virtue replied,

"Wait, Doctor Whooves understands you? Now Maud, Cheerilee, Discord, and Trixie, Ah understand, but I didn't think Doctor Whooves can speak Old Ponish." Applejack said, Virtue nodded while smiling,

"Applejack, dinner's ready." Granny Smith said, Applejack did the same gesture that told Virtue to follow her and he did. Virtue ate his leftover breakfast for dinner and only ate another quarter,

"Wait, Virtue, what is the final quarter for?" Apple Bloom asked,

"Dessert." Virtue replied,

"Wait, uh... thou... dost not eat fruits for dessert?" Applejack asked, Virtue shook his head and opened his dictionary,

"We... only... ate... one meal for the... whole day,... we... only... ate a quarter for each meal, one for breakfast, one for lunch, one for dinner, and one for dessert, and we only ate hay, vegetables, and grains, and... drank water back in... my time." Virtue replied,

"Wow, that's even less food than how much we ate when Ah was a youngin'." Granny Smith said,

"I... will be... outside now, 'tis time for spiritual training." Virtue said, and he trotted outside.

Virtue went into the middle of Sweet Apple Acres, he sat with his hind legs crossed and his front legs in his lap, he closed his eyes and meditated while he inhaled through his snout, exhaled through his mouth, and breathed with his diaphragm, he floated in midair while he meditated. Virtue meditated a bit and he heard trotting, he opened his eyes, he saw the Apple family coming to him,

"Wouldest thou all like to join?" Virtue asked,

"Nah, 'tis alright, Virtue." Apple Bloom replied, and Virtue closed his eyes again,

"What do y'all think of his behavior?" Apple Bloom asked,

"It's alright, but some of it does leave me a bit speechless." Applejack replied,

"He sure is a busy young stallion, Ah wonder if everypony was like him back in his time." Granny Smith said, the Apple family continued to watch Virtue meditate,

"Well, Ah don't think he'll be comin' in for a while, so let's go ahead and start preservin' our crops for the winter." Applejack said, and they began preserving their food for winter while Virtue meditated. Virtue kept meditating while the Apple family worked and he had a flashback.

Virtue was walking and patrolling an area that was unicorn territory, it was sunny and warm while he did his job, dark clouds suddenly arrived and a blizzard appeared. Virtue got defensive while the snow got harder, he heard demonic neighing above him and saw three Windigos. Virtue watched them carefully and they began freezing Equestria, they saw him and flew towards him, Virtue shot fire from his horn but the fire extinguished itself when it got near them. The Windigos tried to freeze Virtue but he teleported away and shot beams of magic at them from his horn, but it went through them and did not harm them. The Windigos made more ice and snow appear and they shot it around Virtue, he made a shield of fire appear around himself to protect himself, he heard animals behind himself and he looked back, he saw the animals running and flying away from the Windigos, the birds got caught in their winds and were going towards the Windigos, Virtue used his telekinesis to get them away from them. The Windigos shot ice and snow out of their mouths at them and Virtue cast a shield to block them from hitting the fauna, they ran and flew away while Virtue held the Windigos off. The ground began to shake and break open, some of the animals fell and cried out, Virtue used his telekinesis to save them from falling. The Windigos shot more ice and snow out and the blizzard got stronger and began freezing the land, Virtue cast a spell to make the ground erupt and lava shot out, but it went through the Windigos and had no effect on them, one Windigo shot ice at Virtue and he teleported away. Virtue appeared on a mountain and shot a combination of fire and lava spells at the Windigos, but they went through them and did not harm them, the Windigos surrounded Virtue and all three of them shot ice at him and froze him, the Windigos flew away in order to freeze the rest of Equestria.

Virtue's flashback ended and he came back to the present, he sweated profusely from the flashback and opened his eyes, he saw it was dark, he went into the Sweet Apple Acres home and saw the Apple family were asleep, he ate the last quarter of his breakfast, he headed outside and looked for a bucket, he found one and then floated up with his telekinesis to look for a body of water, he found one and floated back down and trotted there, he filled the bucket with water and trotted back, he put his dish in the water and cleaned it, he then put the water in the freezer to make ice. Virtue went back to meditate outside for two more hours and then went back into the Apple family's home and slept.

Morning came and the Apple family woke up, they heard running outside and headed out, they saw Virtue running around Sweet Apple Acres, he stopped when he saw the four looking at him,

"Morning." Virtue said,

"Mornin', Virtue." Apple Bloom replied,

"Did ya sleep last night?" Applejack asked, Virtue opened his dictionary and looked up the words,

"Oh. Aye, I did." Virtue replied,

"I'll call ya when breakfast is ready." Granny Smith said, and she walked back into the house. Virtue ran around Sweet Apple Acres, the Apple family smelled a foul stench,

"What is that smell?" Applejack asked, they looked and saw a wooden bucket,

"I relieved myself in the bucket." Virtue said, Applejack exclaimed,

"No, Virtue, we don't use buckets as bathrooms no more." Apple Bloom said,

"Come eft." Virtue said, which meant "Come again.",

"We doth not use buckets as jakes anymore." Apple Bloom replied,

"Verily, thou must hath something to relieve thyself with." Virtue said,

"*sigh* Come on, Virtue." Applejack said, and he followed her.

Applejack took Virtue to the bathroom and showed him the toilet,

"This is called a toilet, Virtue, we relieve ourselves here now, and we don't dump our waste in the river no more, we just flush the toilet when we're done." Applejack said, and she showed him how to use it,

"What is that thither?" Virtue asked as he pointed at the object of interest, Applejack looked at it,

"That's a bathtub, you take baths and showers in it." Applejack replied,

"No dumping water on thyself from bucket?" Virtue asked,

"We don't do that anymore, either." Applejack replied,

"How about that?" Virtue asked as he pointed at the next object, Applejack looked at it,

"That's a sink, ya use it to wash yer hoofs, the left valve turns on hot water, the other valve turns on cold water, turn them both on to get warm water." Applejack replied,

"So no more washing hoofs in bucket." Virtue said,

"No, we still do that." Applejack replied,

"Back in my time, water was always cold." Virtue said,

"Well, almost nopony likes takin' a bath or shower in cold water, most of us like it hot." Applejack replied,

"I behold." Virtue said,

"Well, go ahead and dump yer waste in the toilet, and clean the bucket, too." Applejack said, and Virtue trotted outside and got the bucket, he dumped his body waste into the toilet and flushed it down, he began to clean the bucket while Applejack gave him soap. Virtue scrubbed the bucket thoroughly and used water from the bathtub,

"Use hot water, Virtue, it cleans better." Applejack said, and Virtue turned the right valve and cold water came out,

"No, Virtue, the other valve." Applejack said, and Virtue turned the cold water off and the hot water on, he winced and moved his front hoofs back when he felt the hot water, he turned it down a little and cleaned the bucket, he rinsed it when he was done. Virtue looked at the bucket and Applejack went over to examine it as well,

"Yup, that's good enough." Applejack said, Virtue smiled even though he did not understand every word she said,

"Breakfast's ready, y'all." Granny Smith said, and the two trotted to the dining room. Virtue sat with the Apple family and has breakfast with them, the Apple family watched and noticed something about Virtue, he ate in a cetain order, he ate the hay first, he ate the bread and grains next, and the vegetables last, he only ate a quarter of the entire meal again,

"I thank thee for the meal." Virtue said, and he headed outside.

Virtue began working outside and he cleaned the farm animals' solid waste on his own, the Apple family went outside after they finished their breakfast and saw Virtue working,

"Look at that, he's doin' the disgustin' jobs." Granny Smith said, and he soon finished and trotted to them,

"What is mine next occupation?" Virtue asked,

"Wash yer hoofs first." Applejack replied, and Virtue went into the house and washed his hoofs at the kitchen sink and came back out,

"Well, we finished preservin' our food for the winter, so I guess we're sellin' apples today." Granny Smith said,

"Hey, Virtue." Apple Bloom said, Virtue looked at the Apple family,

"We are sellin' apples today, can... thou help... est?" Apple Bloom asked,

"Aye." Virtue replied,

"Thou wilt?" Apple Bloom asked, Virtue nodded,

"Come with us, Virtue." Applejack said, and he followed them.

The Apple family arrived into Ponyville and sold apples at a stand,

"Come get yer apples, best apples in Equestria, grown at Sweet Apple Acres, best apple farm in Equestria." Applejack said, Virtue looked through his dictionary to understand what Applejack said, he found the words and frowned at her,

"What's wrong, Virtue?" Apple Bloom asked,

"We... did... not... boast... about our... things... being the best back then, we... waited for... customers... without saying... anything." Virtue replied,

"Virtue, Ah won't get any customers if Ah do that." Applejack said,

"You will, you... just... have... to... be patient." Virtue replied,

"But it gets borin' waitin' that long." Applejack said,

"Still have to be patient." Virtue replied,

"Come on, y'all, greatest apples in all of Equestria freshly grown by hoof right here, from the greatest apple farm in Equestria ran by me." Granny Smith said, Virtue frowned deeply at her,

"Whoa, Virtue, what is with that scowl?" Granny Smith asked,

"'Tis sore peccant for a elder to not practice Virtues." Virtue replied, which meant "It is extremely offensive for an elder to not practice Virtues.",

"Give 'em Virtues a break, Virtue, things are different from before you were frozen, you'll just have to adjust to the new Equestria." Applejack said, Virtue became silent and watched,

"Come over here, best apples in Equestria." Granny Smith said, and customers came, they bought the apples and they sold every apple,

"Thank y'all, come again." Applejack said, and the customers left,

"Well, that's all, back to the farm now." Applejack said, and they went back to Sweet Apple Acres.

Applejack and Apple Bloom played games while Virtue helped Big Macintosh pack away the farm equipment for the winter,

"Hast thou worked hither all of thine life?" Virtue asked,

"Eeyup." Big Macintosh replied,

"*chuckle* Thou couldest hast lived in mine time, thou art humble and diligent, earth ponies like thee wert wonted back in mine time." Virtue said, Big Macintosh smiled and the two moved the heavy equipment together. Virtue and Big Macintosh stored the farming equipment in the sheds and went back outside to work more, but something crashed into Sweet Apple Acres and slid on the ground, Virtue and the Apple family looked to see what it was, it was Scootaloo, she had the practice wings on,

"*pant* *pant* These wings are heavy." Scootaloo said, Rainbow Dash flew down to her while Virtue and the Apple family went to her,

"You okay, Scootaloo?" Rainbow Dash asked,

"Yeah." Scootaloo replied,

"Where'd ya get them wings from?" Apple Bloom asked,

"Virtue made them for me, he's trying to help me to be able to fly." Scootaloo replied,

"And I'm tutoring Scootaloo, she's already made some progress." Rainbow Dash said,

"I would like to see." Virtue replied, and Scootaloo flapped her practice wings and got off the ground, the wind created by the wings blew some of the unpicked vegetables away, Scootaloo soon fell,

"Ow, my wings." Scootaloo said, Rainbow Dash took them off and Scootaloo sat and rested,

"Let's take a break, I think Scootaloo's wings are worn out." Rainbow Dash said, and they all got on with their days.

Scootaloo sat and rested in the barn while Apple Bloom came to her with a snack,

"Thanks, Apple Bloom." Scootaloo said,

"Yer welcome." Apple Bloom replied, and she ate, Virtue walked into the barn to check Scootaloo's wings,

"How art thou feeling?" Virtue asked,

"What?" Scootaloo asked,

"How are ya feelin?" Apple Bloom asked,

"Oh, I need to rest a little more." Scootaloo replied, and Virtue looked at Scootaloo's wings,

"Hmm, mayhaps I canst help thy wings grow." Virtue said,

"Really, Virtue?" Apple Bloom asked,

"Aye, I have a spell to accelerate a pony's growth." Virtue replied,

"Really? Wow, I never knew a spell like that existed." Scootaloo said,

"It does." Virtue replied,

"Well, I'm ready to try again." Scootaloo said, and they headed outside.

Scootaloo stood outside and in the middle of Sweet Apple Acres with the Apple family, Rainbow Dash, and Virtue around her, she put the practice wings back on and flapped them again, she got off the ground, the wind caused by the wings made some of the apples in the apple trees get blown away, Scootaloo continued flapping the wings and got off the ground, she kept trying but soon fell. Virtue used his telekinesis to take the practice wings off and then casted a spell, Scootaloo's wings grew to the size of an adult pony's wings, she tried to stand but fell, she then tried to flap her wings but flapped them very slowly,

"They're too heavy for me, Virtue." Scootaloo said, Virtue cast another spell and Scootaloo's body grew to the size of an adult pony. Scootaloo stood up and flapped her wings a little,

"Come on, Scootaloo, let's try." Rainbow Dash said, and she flew, but she had trouble and experienced turbulence, she was a slow flier as well. Scootaloo flapped her wings to stay in the air and flew slowly, she kept trying and Rainbow Dash watched her,

"Rainbow Dash, I can't keep up." Scootaloo said, Rainbow Dash flew to her and watched her,

"Do you want to head back?" Rainbow Dash asked, Scootaloo flew for a few more seconds,

"Yeah." Scootaloo said, and they flew back to Sweet Apple Acres. Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo landed on the ground and Scootaloo did not crash, Virtue put the practice wings on Scootaloo's wings, they just barely fitted,

"Try it now." Virtue said, and Scootaloo rested a little and flew back into the air, she flapped her wings and the practice wings created stronger gusts of wind, Scootaloo flew around a bit and experienced less turbulance, she flew a bit and was slower than before, she landed after about a minute,

"Can I return to my normal size?" Scootaloo asked, Virtue took the practice wings off of her with his magic and then cast a spell to revert her back to her regular size,

"Egad. I have seen disabled Pegasi afore, but never this bad." Virtue said,

"Art thou giving up?" Apple Bloom asked,

"Nay, an I canst not get her to fly, I shall at least assay to improve it." Virtue replied, which meant "No, if I can't get her to fly, I will at least attempt to improve it.",

"Thanks, Virtue, but I can fly with those practice wings, you already improved my flying." Scootaloo said, Virtue smiled,

"Well, come on, y'all, let's pack up the rest of the stuff for winter." Applejack said, and they went to work while Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo left.

Virtue helped Big Macintosh and Applejack pack away their farming equipment for the winter,

"This is perfect weather for spiritual training." Virtue said,

"Oh no, Virtue, you ain't meditatin' out here today, it's too cold." Applejack replied, and the two entered a dark shed to put tools away,

"Whither are the glims?" Virtue asked, which meant "Where are the candles?",

"Say what now?" Applejack asked, Virtue opened his dictionary,

"Where... are... the... candles?" Virtue asked,

"Oh, that's what you said. We don't use candles to light places up anymore, either, Virtue, we use lights now." Applejack replied,

"Lights?" Virtue asked, Applejack flipped the switch to her left up and the ceiling light turned on,

"See, just with a flip of a switch, it's safer than candles, too." Applejack said,

"Earth ponies always had candles back then." Virtue said,

"Yeah, Ah know, Granny used to talk about it all the time, we mainly use candles for birthday cakes and settin' up romantic dinner scenes now." Applejack replied, and the two put the equipment away while Applejack pointed at where the equipment went for Virtue,

"Lunchtime, y'all." Granny Smith said from inside the home,

"Well, let's go." Applejack said, and she and Virtue went to go have lunch. Virtue had lunch with the Apple family and only ate another quarter of the entire meal, he headed outside and began reading his Sudoku book again, he solved the problem he was on in his head, he focused and tried to solve the Sudoku problem while his head hurt a little, Big Macintosh walked over to Virtue's right to try to solve the Sudoku puzzles in his head,

"Thou dost Sudoku, too?" Virtue asked,

"Eeyup." Big Macintosh replied, and the two tried to solve the current one in their heads. Big Macintosh sweated and his head hurt after about thirty minutes of trying, he panted and left to rest his mind while Virtue continued to try to solve the equation in his head. The sun began to set a little and Virtue looked up and saw it was almost dark, Virtue shrugged and continued to solve the Sudoku equations in his head,

"Dinnertime, y'all." Granny Smith said, and Virtue closed the book and went into the house to have dinner, he only ate another quarter of his breakfast and went back outside to meditate while the Apple family continued having their dinner. The Apple family went outside to see Virtue after they finished dinner and saw him meditating,

"Brr, how does he tolerate this cold?" Applejack asked,

"Ah know, Ah'm freezin'." Apple Bloom replied while shivering,

"Come on, y'all, let's go back in, Ah'll call him in for dessert later." Granny Smith said, and they went into the house while Virtue continued to meditate. Virtue meditated silently for about an hour while enduring the cold,

"Virtue, dessert time." Granny Smith said from inside the house, Virtue trotted into the house and ate the last quarter of his breakfast,

"Um, Virtue." Apple Bloom said, Virtue looked at her,

"Um... Dost thou always only eat a quarter of one meal for each meal?" Apple Bloom asked,

"Aye." Virtue replied,

"But what if meal is very small?" Apple Bloom asked,

"Still only consume a quarter." Virtue replied,

"What if thou art... is... still... um... esurient?" Apple Bloom asked, Virtue looked through his dictionary to understand her sentence,

"Then... you will... have to just... endure... the hunger until... the next meal." Virtue replied,

"We did that when Ah was a filly, too, we stopped doin' it cause a lot of foals started complainin' and eatin' snacks behind our parents' backs." Granny Smith said,

"Ah don't blame 'em, they'd be starvin' if they did the work me and Big Mac do on the farm." Applejack replied,

"Eeyup." Big Macintosh said,

"I... am... surprised... at... the... size... of... food... now, servings... are... huge... compared... to... my... time." Virtue said,

"Well, most ponies grew up eating the sizes of servings we have now, and there are restaurants for those who don't have the time to eat." Applejack replied, Virtue looked up what a restaurant was,

"Restaurants... did... not... exist... back then." Virtue said,

"We set 'em up years ago, that hayburger joint's been popular recently." Granny Smith replied,

"I... will... take... a... look... at... it... when... I have... the... time." Virtue said, and he left to wash his dish and had trouble figuring out how the sink worked, he figured it out quickly and washed the dish, he looked and saw the Apple family getting ready for bed, he went to go see Apple Bloom,

"What are ya doin', Virtue?" Apple Bloom asked,

"Back then,.. kids... and... adults... slept... together... as... a... family." Virtue replied,

"Then why don't ya go see mah siblings and granny?" Apple Bloom asked,

"Because... back then,... children were... considered... sacred." Virtue replied,

"Really?" Apple Bloom asked, Virtue nodded,

"Wow, Ah never knew y'all liked foals that much." Apple Bloom said,

"Foals... are Equestria's... future." Virtue replied,

"Well, maybe back then, but probably not now since there are more than just pony children in Equestria now." Apple Bloom said,

"Unicorns, Pegasi, and earth ponies were... at... war back in my time, the Virtue of Kindness... teaches us... to be... nice to all creatures." Virtue replied,

"Did ya hate the Pegasi and earth ponies?" Apple Bloom asked,

"...No, I... tried to... help... them,... too,... not... all... ponies... hated... other pony... types." Virtue replied,

"Ah guess friendship was still around even before the foundin' of Equestria, *yawn* well, Ah'm gonna sleep now, Virtue, good night." Apple Bloom said,

"Good night." Virtue replied, and Apple Bloom slept, Virtue went to his bed and slept.

The next morning came and the Apple family woke up and Virtue was not in bed, they walked outside and they saw Virtue hanging from an apple tree branch and doing pull-ups on it,

"Wow, Ah can never do those." Apple Bloom said,

"Big Mac and I did, we had to do pull-ups to build up our front leg strength." Applejack replied,

"Eeyup." Big Macintosh said, Virtue did one more pull-up and jumped down from the tree, he panted a little lightly and walked to the Apple family,

"Well, Ah'm gonna go make breakfast now." Granny Smith said, and she went into the house,

"There's nothin' to do today, Virtue, today's a free day." Applejack said, Virtue looked up the words of her sentence and nodded after he finished,

"Breakfast's ready." Granny Smith said, and they all had breakfast, Virtue ate a quarter of his breakfast and headed back outside. Applejack finished her breakfast and headed back out, she saw Virtue running around the farm to exercise,

"Hey." Twilight Sparkle said from Applejack's left, she looked and saw her fly down, she had a book with her,

"Sorry it took a while, but I found the dictionary for our language and Virtue's language, it was misplaced in my library, now you'll be able to understand Virtue." Twilight Sparkle said,

"Thanks, Twilight, this'll help me and mah family a lot." Applejack replied, Twilight Sparkle looked and saw Virtue had a dictionary of his own,

"Where did he get a dictionary?" Twilight Sparkle asked,

"Discord gave one to him." Applejack replied,

"Oh, well, he seems to like it here, I've been wondering if he wants to explore the rest of Equestria." Twilight Sparkle said,

"Now that you mention it, Ah haven't asked him about that, Ah do wonder if he does want to explore." Applejack replied, Virtue looked to his left and ran out of Sweet Apple Acres,

"How he's been on the farm?" Twilight Sparkle asked,

"Great, he works hard, doesn't eat much, and tries his best to understand us when we speak, he's not very good with untensils, though." Applejack replied,

"Well, that's to be expected, ponies didn't have most of the utensils we use back in his time." Twilight Sparkle said,

"Yeah, Ah guess, he used a bucket as a toilet, he also talked about how using water for bathing and washing hoofs was always cold, and he mentioned earth ponies lightin' up dark places with candles." Applejack replied,

"Did he talk about taking a bath by dumping water from a bucket onto yourself?" Twilight Sparkle asked,

"Yeah, he did mention that." Applejack replied,

"Well, I'll be going now." Twilight Sparkle said,

"Me too, there's nothin' to do on the farm today." Applejack replied, and the two left Sweet Apple Acres with Apple Bloom.

It was a nice day in Ponyville and Twilight Sparkle walked around the town,

"Yay!" the foals said, she looked to her right and saw Virtue playing tag with the foals, Apple Bloom, Scootaloo, and Sweetie Belle were among the foals,

"I wanna join!" Pinkie Pie said as she ran to them, they let her join and they all played tag together,

"Wow, I guess Virtue likes foals as much as Pinkie Pie does." Twilight Sparkle said to herself, the school bell rung and the foals went to Cheerilee's school while Virtue and Pinkie Pie waved bye at them. Virtue walked with Pinkie Pie,

"Virtue, wait." Twilight Sparkle said as she ran to him, he and Pinkie Pie stopped walking and Twilight Sparkle went to him, Applejack and Rarity ran also ran to him and Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash flew down to him,

"What dost thou thinkest of new Equestria?" Twilight Sparkle asked, the other ponies in Ponyville looked at them,

"'Tis mixed, I like living with other creatures besides unicorns, but values of mine time seem mostly gone." Virtue replied,

"'Tis not, I do not use my degree of princess to my favor, so I practice humility." Twilight Sparkle said,

"I work hard to fly faster, so I'm diligent." Rainbow Dash said,

"I care for every animal, and I almost never get mad at them, so I'm kind and patient." Fluttershy said,

"I give treats to others, especially if they feel down, so I'm practicing charity." Pinkie Pie said,

"While I do like my own beauty, I do give it away to those who need it more than me, and I keep myself from eating too much to keep my figure for photoshoots, so I practice charity and temperance." Rarity said,

"And Ah've been workin' on that farm ever since Ah was a foal, and provide apples to others, so Ah practice charity and diligence." Applejack said,

"And all ponies hath no loves outside of courteous marriage, so Equestria still practiceth chastity." Twilight Sparkle said,

"Aye, but ponies only practiceth some Virtues, back in mine time, everypony practiceth all Virtues." Virtue replied,

"Oh, um, how are we for thee?" Twilight Sparkle asked,

"Thou all art otiose, impatient, prideful, and gluttonous when compared to my time, I am mazed." Virtue replied, the six mares became speechless, which meant "You all are lazy, impatient, prideful, and gluttonous when compared to my time, I am bewildered.",

"Um, wouldest thou like to fare Equestria?" Twilight Sparkle asked, which meant "Um, would you like to travel Equestria?",

"Nay, I wish to settle down first." Virtue replied, they heard walking and saw Doctor Whooves coming,

"Wouldest thou like to return to thy time?" Doctor Whooves asked,

"Nay, I like it hither, I shall remain." Virtue replied, Doctor Whooves smiled,

"Oh, great, how wouldest thou like to learn Virtues in mine schoolhouse?" Twilight Sparkle asked, which meant "Oh, great, how would you like to teach Virtues at my school?",

"I shall do it." Virtue replied,

"Great, this way." Twilight Sparkle said, and they led him to the School of Friendship.

A class in the School of Friendship was in session and Twilight Sparkle entered,

"Good morning, everycreature, you all have a new teacher today." Twilight Sparkle said, and Virtue and Sunburst came in, the student gasped and murmured,

"This is Virtue, I have learned from him before the Elements, ponies had Virtues, they were Humility, Kindness, Charity, Temperance, Diligence, Chastity, and Patience, and they have been mostly forgotten, even I didn't know about them, Virtue will teach them all to us." Twilight Sparkle said,

"For those of you unfamiliar, Virtue speaks in Old Ponish, it's a language very few of us understand, I'm one of the ponies who does, so I'll be acting as his translator." Sunburst said, the students murmured,

"Well, I leave things to thou now, Virtue, hope thou all hast fun." Twilight Sparkle said, and Virtue begun to teach the class. Virtue taught at the School of Friendship while he remained at Sweet Apple Acres for his home and worked on the farm, he did not ask for any money or anything in return when he helped anybody, he taught at the school and stayed in Ponyville, and decided he will explore the new Equestria when he felt ready to leave.
