Twilight: It’s been quiet some time since anything dangerous or nefariousness has happened here in Ponyville, we’ve been in the Tree of Harmony for days now. Applejack: Well ain’t that a good thing Twi? Ah mean ah’m glad that there ain’t a thing tryin’ ta destroy our town. Rainbow: Yeah, but it’s sooooo boring inside here, who knows how long it’s been since I’ve stretched my wings. Twilight: I know and I’m glad to Applejack, but I just can’t help but shake the feeling that something bad might happen, even when it isn’t at the moment. Rarity: Aww Twilight dear, maybe you should head outside for a bit, take your mind off things, for all of our sakes, we should as well. Pinkie: OOOOOHH! I want to see how the Cakes are doing! A scene is shown when Twilight is looking up at a list before looking up and seeing a stallion talking to her. Twilight points to a direction as he smiled and walked away from her. Aplejack: Well? What’s the feller like? Twilight: That’s the thing, he seemed like a nice pony, but something about him, just seemed... off. At night at the Tree of Harmony, the scene show the stallion sound proofing the doors with books, trying to hear any hoofsteps before entering into the Mirror. (Canterlot High) With class interrupted by Principle Celestia. She gestured to the man next to her. Principle Celestia: Students I like to introduce you to our exchange student, he will be staying here for the next few years here. The man smiles and bows in respect. At the cafeteria, we see the Main 7 sitting next to each other discussing the days events. The man walks up to the group. ???: Greetings, do you perchance go by the name of Sunset? She raised her eyebrow in suspicion. Sunset: Yeah, your the new student right? We didn’t get your name. ???: That’s because nopo-one asked for it. (Tree of Harmony) Sunset: Didn’t you noticed that something wasn’t right about him? Twilight: I did to, but what it possibly be!? (???) ???: You have something that I require. ???: And what would that be? ???: Information. ???: And why would I trust you? The man pulls off his hoodie leaving the other man shocked to the core. ???: Because you and I are one in the same. (Human World) Sunset: You hurt my friends!!! The man lets out a small chuckle. ???: You’re little friends hurt themselves. I simply gave them a little...nudge. The next scene shows the human and pony versions stand in front the man blocking his way. He smirked. ???: Seems everyone joined forces, allow me to do the same. The Portal opens to reveal the same man coming out of the portal, the Alicorn Amulet on his neck. Raising his hand to shoot at the group. Sunset: So did you have a lot of friends where you lived? She asked innocently, the man chuckled. ???: I like to think of them as friends, but you know that old song and dance goes. He trailed off as came on a scene showing him hitting someone with a baseball bat, eyes unflinching and cold. ???: Sometimes friendships don’t last that long. My Little Pony: The Accursed Friendship Pinkie: So will you be my friend?! PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASE!? The man chuckled. ???: We shall see...Diane. > Chapter 1: The Worn Out Mask > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Little Pony: The Accursed Friendship Chapter 1: The Fake Smile Welcome to the land of Ponyville, where everyday is nothing short of a roller coaster, and in every place, in every turn, you see nothing but hilarity, adventure, randomness, and so much more. A world of colourful ponies, buildings, and the like, live in harmony. But today, unlike every other day, had seemed relatively calm...well, for Ponyville’s standards. As we began to see the outskirts of a train station, a sound of the Friendship Express became louder and louder. Finally coming to a stop, ponies of many colours and sizes come out of the train. But one pony in particular waited for the ones who were leaving to go first. Finally, said pony came out of the train. “Hmm...so this is Ponyville huh?” By the pony’s voice it appeared to be a stallion. But all we could see were his front and back hooves, which consisted of a dark tangerine colour. “Excuse me miss?” He asked, the pony turns towards his voice. “Would you be so kind as to tell me the direction of Ponyville?” She points towards behind him. “Thank you.” He said he starts heading out to the direction she showed him. “So...I’m going back to where it all began, the question is, where could it possibly be?” He thought out loud. “It seems like I have to start from scratch.” With that, he starts to form a plan in his head and heads near the town. Castle of Friendship In the Castle of Friendship, Spike had finally finished his last pile of books that he had to reshelve. As he wiped the sweat off his forehead, he turned to see Twilight once again her face in yet another book. Spike walked up to her. “Hey Twilight, I finally finished reshelving the books.” Spike said as Twilight looked up at him and smiled. She looked up at the clock and widened her eyes. “Wow, time has surely flown by hasn’t it?” Twilight used her magic to give Spike his comic books. “It looks like you deserved a break.” Spike let out a victorious “yes!” and jumped on a pillow and began reading where he last left off. He was only a few pages in before looking at Twilight’s book, a book he hasn’t seen before had got him curious. “Hey Twilight.” She looked at him. “What’s that book you’re reading?” “It’s a book I recently found it when I was bringing some new books into the castle. I saw the title of it and I thought I give it a read. It’s been a while since I read a completely new book.” Spike raised his eyebrow. “A new book? But haven’t you read every book in all of Equestria?” She smiled. “Apparently not, and it’s so exciting!” She squealed. “Well, as exciting as reading a book can get.” Twilight playfully rolled her eyes at him. “What’s it even about anyway?” He asked as Twilight gave him the boom for him look at. “I didn’t read all of it yet, but the summary is about a stallion who became an Element of Harmony with the rest of his friends.” “Kind of like you?” Spike inquired. “Yes exactly! Although it may be fiction, its just so fascinating to see it from somepony else’s view.” Spike looked at the back cover to see the description of the book, but didn’t see a picture of the author or name. Thinking it weird, he turned to Twilight’s direction. “Did you see name of the character in the story?” Twilight nodded. “Yes, I believe his name was-“ *BAM* Both Twilight and Spike jumped in surprise as the doors slammed open, outside of it revealed Rainbow Dash flying in the room. “Twilight! Did the new book get here!?” She exclaimed loudly as she raced to her. She nodded as Twilight gave her the most recent Daring Do that had been published. She pumped her hoof in the air in excitement before looking at Twilight’s book. “Hey what’s that? New egghead stuff for you to read?” Rainbow joked as Spike showed her the book. “It’s a new book that Twilight found.” Spike answered for Twilight. “So...more egghead stuff?” “Pretty much.” “It’s not egghead stuff.” Twilight clarified. “It’s a new fictional book I just happened to come across.” Rainbow looked at the front and the back of the book and raised an eyebrow. “Isn’t there supposed to be like a picture of the author or something?” Twilight grabbed the back cover of the book expecting Rainbow to be joking again but wasn’t this time. “Hmm, that’s weird, every book has at least some sort of indicator of who the writer is, so why doesn’t this one?” Twilight asked out loud as Rainbow and Spike both shrugged in unison. Spike broke the silence and looked at Rainbow. “So Rainbow, you seemed panicked when you got here, what’s with the rush?” Spike asked as Rainbow realized the reason for her hasty entrance. “Oh I almost forgot, I’m meeting Pinkie Pie for lunch back at Sugarcube Corner!” She said and raced out of the castle. “Thanks for the book!” She yelled out before leaving the castle. At the though of food, Twilight’s stomach began to growl. Spike looked at her while she looked sheepish. “Speaking of which, we should probably get food ourselves.” Spike nodded as they both got up to leave the castle as well. (Ponyville) Twilight and Spike were walking down to the market after there little bite of food to restock on food for the castle. Spike walking beside Twilight gave off a nostalgic smile. “Wow, even after so long ago, Ponyville still manages to stay the same no matter what happens to it.” Twilight nodded. “I know, I still remember the very day we first came to this very town.” “You mean when you stopped Nightmare Moon?” “Well, there was that, and then I got to meet some amazing friends along the way.” Spike smiled at her. “You see? Remember when you didn’t need friends at first? But look at you now! You’re the Princess of Friendship and an Alicorn! That just goes to show you how you’ve grown.” Twilight smiled back at him. “You know, when you say things like that, it makes me forget you’re still a baby dragon.” Spike puffed his cheeks. “All have you know that I grew a couple of inches.” Spike flexed his arms. “I feel grown up all ready.” Twilight rolled her eyes at him, but smiled nonetheless at his antics. “Now let’s see here.” Twilight pulled out a list a food items for of the castle and began to skim it. “We need some supplies for Fluttershy’s animals, some desert for Pinkie, and-“ “Oh don’t forget about the diamonds and gems!” Twilight raised at Spike. “Don’t you already have enough in your supposed “secret stash”?” Spike gasped. “You know about that!? I mean, I don’t know what your talking about.” Twilight giggled a bit before looking back at her list. “Excuse me.” A voice called out to her. When she looked up she saw a new stallion she believed has never seen before. He was a slightly darker shade of orange earth pony with a light grey cloak covering his body other than his hooves and face. His mane was jet black and a little bit combed to the left with a little small strand of it above his left eye. His best feature was his silver eyes, his calm and collected posture and warm smile brought his silver eyes to a way better light then I should. “I was hoping to find a building that associates to citizen enrolment. Do you know where I can look for such a place?” The unexpected stallion talking to her caught her off guard, which just lead to her staring at him for a bit before shaking her head. “Oh, I’m sorry, are you new here?” She asked as the stallion nodded. “Indeed, I hail from Manehattan, but I decided to relocate for a much more...peaceful environment.” From Twilight’s point of view it seemed personal so she decided not to pry any more. “Oh, then you must be looking for the Town Hall, just keep going straight and you should arrive there in no time.” She smiled politely and he nodded. “Thank you, I’m certain this information will prove beneficial.” And with that he started walking away. Both Twilight and Spike both raised there eyebrows at him. “He seemed weird didn’t he?” “That’s not nice Spike.” “You know what I mean! It’s like he was there, but not there at the same time.” As much as she hated it, she probably had to concur with his Spike. “I know, his voice, it just seemed so...” “Cold? Calculated? Composed? Take your pick.” “Practiced.” Twilight finished off. Spike shrugged his shoulders. “Maybe that’s just the type of pony he is.” He suggested. “I hope so.” Twilight dropped the conversion, but something about the new stallion found...weird to her for lack of a better word. Castle of Friendship After a long journey, they finally made it back home. When Twilight opened the door they were greeted with two of her best friends. “Hi Twilight! Welcome back!” This was the voice of the unexplainable unlimited amount of energy, Pinkie Pie as she bolted to Twilight and gave her a bone crushing hug. Before Twilight could become the living embodiment of toothpaste, she kept tapping Pinkie, causing her to let go of her and have the audacity to look embarrassed. “Hey Twilight, you should’ve been with us! Pinkie made some awesome new cupcakes for ponies to try, but doesn’t know what to call them yet.” Rainbow exclaimed as Pinkie was rubbing her head together with her hooves. “I know! It’s super duper weird! I usually come up with the bestsest of names, but since a new pony came into Ponyville, I was so excited I forgot about the cupcakes!” Rainbow looked at Pinkie. “A new pony?” “Yeah! He seems like a nice pony, I like this big mysterious act he’s got going on with the cloak and his calm attitude.” Twilight and Spike, now realizing and wondering how Pinkie new all of this, came up with a conclusion that would confuse any pony have you not have met Pinkie Pie. “It’s Pinkie Pie” They concluded. “So what’s this about a new pony in town?” Rainbow getting back on topic. “Oh, well it’s just that this new pony came into Ponyville to become a new citizen.” Rainbow looked at Twilight for more information, so for a few seconds Rainbow waited until she had enough. “That’s it? Come on Twilight, there’s gotta be something more interesting than that.” Twilight began to feel uneasy at the statement. “Well, there is more.” Rainbow, Pinkie, and Spike all sat down as if it about to become story time. “I don’t know what it is, it’s just something about him that...UGH!” Twilight groaned in frustration to try to figure out how to explain her predicament. Spike got up and stood beside her. “Relax Twilight, maybe you’re just overreacting to this pony. He probably just arrived here just to look for a new home. He said it himself he wants to become a citizen here. If you’re that worried about him, maybe you can look around Ponyville to try to find again.” Spike tried to reassure her but wasn’t proving to be effective. “Look, try meeting the new pony if you get to see him again. You can’t judge a book by its cover.” Twilight sighed knowing Spike was right. Why can’t I shake this feeling of him? Something’s doesn’t seem right with him, and me. Twilight looked at her new book and smiled a bit. Well at least I can get to read my new book. Before she can even touch the book, a small knock in the front of the castle alerting all four of them. Everyone looked at each other for answers but failed to find any. Twilight cautiously went towards the door and opened it, revealing the cause of her anxiety and worries. “Good evening Miss Sparkle. I was informed by various ponies you have an inventory of books in this particular residence.” Twilight raised her eyebrow keeping herself on guard of this mysterious stallion “Uh, yes I do, uh...why?” He gave off a friendly smirk. “I am by no means familiar with the inhabitants of Ponyville and it’s surroundings. So it took it upon myself to locate the information of this lovely town so that I could be familiarized with it. I do hope that you have books and maps regarding this area?” He asked. Twilight shook off her worries before answering. “Oh! It’s nice to see a new pony who likes to read. Please come in.” He nodded politely and walked inside, but before he could do so, Twilight smacked her forehead for forgetting a single detail. “Oh! I’m so sorry but I probably should’ve asked this earlier but-“ “Please.” He put a hoof on her shoulder. “It is I who should be apologizing, I had simply left no time for me to introduce myself before my departure.” Twilight smiled at him. “Well, why don’t we do so now?” He smiled back at her. “Yes, that would be proven helpful.” She giggled “I’m Twilight Sparkle, what’s your name?” She raised her hoof as he smirked and gently raised his hoof. “I have been called by many, but you may simply call me Bookmark.” > Chapter 2: Seeking Information > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Little Pony: The Accursed Friendship Chapter 2: Seeking Information After many attempts at searching my precious items, looking and searching in every nook and cranny in Manehattan, my efforts have seen to be proven futile. With no leads left of any kind I sighed in exhaustion. After consideration and pondering, I escorted myself back to the train station. Looking at the map I mentally crossed out Manehattan for its failed attempts to provide me with any useful findings of any sort. Before I let out of frustration, I quickly composed myself before my anger would cloud my judgement. ’Hmm...now think, I’ve stopped by at almost every place in Equestria, the only question is where to now?’ I thought to myself before looking at a particular town on the map. ’Ponyville? Sounds promising, I suppose it would be too hard to search there.’ Forming a plan in my head, I payed for a ticket and set off to find any evidence of my lost treasure. During my time on the train I’ve chatted with various ponies, asking what to expect in this town, let’s just say the results I had received we’re more than unexpected. One said while it may seem quite, it isn’t, which from the response couldn’t have been any more cryptic. Another said craziness happens there all the time, making me wonder if I should take any necessary precautions upon my visit. A few more minutes had gone by as the express came to slow down until it came to a halt, signifying our arrival. I waited until all the other ponies who were leaving got off the train before leaving myself. “Hmm...so this is Ponyville huh?” I thought out loud before getting back on topic. ’First things first, directions.’ I walked up the first pony I encountered. “Excuse me miss?” The mare in question looked at me. “Would you be so kind as to tell me the direction of Ponyville?” she nodded and pointed behind me. I thanked her a walked off to said direction. (Ponyville) As I entered the town, walking aimlessly, I was able to look around at my surroundings, and dare I say that compared to Manehattan, this town is certainly more...colourful than what I’m accustomed to. ’Well, everything around here doesn’t really scream out of the ordinary, but one should always expect the unexpected.’ Should I be prepared for was is to come from this town? Maybe, maybe not, but from the ponies that I have discussed with regarding this town yielded the same answers and conclusions. While I shouldn’t be worried to extent, it’s better to be safe than sorry. After walking for a few minutes my stomach let out a soft reminder of what it required. *growl* Ah sustenance, I guess it has been awhile since I’ve eaten. And looking at food markets didn’t really help my case at this moment. Looking around to see anypony near me, I ask them if they had any restaurants or bakeries of any of kind. Giggling at my question, she pointed behind me to see a building which I assumed was made of gingerbread. She asked me if I was new here in which I nodded. She gave me a welcome and departed to where she needed to be. Taking a good look at the building and pondered for a bit. ’Quite the odd confectionary to put it mildly’ Was my last thought before entering. When I went in I saw pretty much the standard like any other bakery I went to, ponies sitting on table chatting out and about, pastries on display and whatnot. Looking at their selection I was slightly impressed by it. ’Their business must be doing well with this kind of variety’ I thought as I walked to the mare on the counter. She was a blue coloured mare with cherry eyes, wearing pink earrings and an yellow apron and pink feathers on it and a mane that looked like strawberry toothpaste. “Welcome to Sugar Cube Corner, what can I get for you?” She smiled using her automated greeting. I smiled back politely. ’Instinctual greeting that natural means years of experience, probably owns the store too no doubt.’ I analyzed in my head as I window shopped at the selection. “By the looks of these deserts, it may well be very hard for me to decide on anything.” She giggled and smiled. “Why thank you deary, we put out very heart and soul into every one of them?” From your cutiemark I saw through the glass, I don’t doubt it. Wait a minute, we? “Who else works in this establishment?” “That would be my husband and Pinkie Pie.” Pinkie Pie? “Would she perchance be another relative of yours?” She laughed and gave a distant smile. “No, but we always treat her like one.” heh...must be a nice feeling. “You must be a new to Ponyville right?” Shouldn’t really be that hard to deduce. “You would indeed be correct in that assumption.” She then pulls out two cupcakes from below the counter. “In that case, have a welcome gift, on the house.” I saw the two cupcakes on the table, one was a vanilla base with vanilla whip cream, sprinkles and a strawberry on top. The other had a chocolate base with chocolate whip cream and mint sprinkles on it. Needless to say that it looked pretty appealing to eyes. “Are you certain about this?” I asked never gotten a handout before. “Of course sweetie. I’m sure you’ll love it.” She said as I looked down at the cupcakes once more. I thanked her and went to a nearby table. Sitting down, I take a bite of the cupcake. ’Wow, it’s pretty good, not the most healthy, but my stomach will take anything at this point.’ I kept eating as I saw two ponies chatting and laughing together. Looking towards the laughter I saw two ponies busy eating cupcakes themselves. One pony was pink along with her puffy pink mane. If there was one word that would describe her as a whole, it would be bubbly, from her smile to her contagious laughter. I took a quick look at her cutiemark as it redeemed inappropriate if I stared for too long. It consisted of the balloons. Could she be a balloon bender, or is it merely symbolic? Well most cutiemarks are anyways. ’Im going on a limb and guessing that’s Pinkie Pie the mare on the counter mentioned.’ I saw her leave, pressuming to get more cupcakes. That left her friend on the table eating cupcakes same as me. This pony was blue with a rainbow like mane and magenta eyes. ’Hmm...pegasus pony, with the way she presents herself, likes to fly a lot if her cutiemark is any indication, maybe a weather pony.’ Her cutiemark was a cloud with a rainbow coloured lighting bolt under it. ’Well that can certainly mean a lot of things by looking at it’. I thought as I kept looking her, muting the world with my thoughts. I could’ve kept going but the cleanliness of my plate stopped me from doing so. Not even realizing I already finished both of my cupcakes, I got up a gave the plate to the mare. “My compliments and gratitude for the cupcakes, they are without a doubt well crafted. I’m glad to talk to you but I’m afraid I must be off for business.” She smiled at my praise. “Why thank you dear, please do come again.” I nodded. I was about to leave before she stopped me. “Oh pardon me dear but I never got your name.” I smiled a bit walked to her counter again. “You may simply call me Bookmark.” I said as I shook her hoof. “And yours?” “Call me Mrs. Cake.” I nodded and headed out of the bakery. ’Okay, I’m going to be staying here for a while like every other place I’ve been to. So citizenship first.’ And once again, asking ponies for direction was probably going to be a common occurrence for me. Looking at the market and shops around here reminded me of how vibrant and colourful everything here was. This was definitely something that going to take time to get used to. Since the town looked pretty quiet today there wasn’t a lot of ponies to talk to. But fortunately I started to hear to ponies chatting from a distance. I smiled as I made myself known. “Excuse me.” I called out as the two both looked at me. I saw one pony and apparently a baby dragon. ’Huh, Don’t see a lot of those very often.’ I thought as I looked at the dragon. The dragon was about half my height with a purple layout and light green scales on his stomach and back. There wasn’t much else to take notice of other than the other pony. “I was hoping to find a building that associates to citizen enrolment. Do you know where I can look for such a place?” The pony started at me for a couple of seconds before she shook her head. Out of all the ponies if met this far, this one was the most peculiar. ’An alicorn? From her age she must’ve became one not to long ago. I have to look into this.’ I looked at the pony with a blank expression. The pony had purple coloured fur with a dark purple straight styled mane with a pink streak on it as well as her eyes being the same colour as her body. The interesting thing about her cutiemark was that it was one big star with smaller white ones surrounding it. What it means should come to me in due time, but for right now, directions. “Oh, I’m sorry, are you new here?” She asked me probably getting out of her shock not far from a few seconds ago. I nodded. “Indeed, I hail from Manehattan, but I decided to relocate for a much more...peaceful environment.” My ulterior motives not shown should it come into topic. She told me to keep going straight for a place now named Town Hall for enrollment. I thanked her and walked away leaving the two confused and awkward from my sudden departure, not that I blame them. Noticing the strange look the purple pony gave me I clicked my tongue. ’She must know something, but how can I trail her off the scent’? With her being an alicorn didn’t really help my case. I shrugged off the thoughts for a later time before setting off to my destination, now it was only a matter of time before I begin my search. (Town Hall) It was only a matter of minutes before I finally made to the Town Hall. Going inside I begin to see all kinds of banners on the ceiling and a red carpet leading to what I would believe is the stage. Other than the door I entered in, I also saw another entrance way behind the stage curtains. Seeing the door, I gently knocked on the door. “One minute please.” Came out a polite female voice, she opened the door and took a look at me. “Hello, what can I do for you?” She asked as I took in her appearance. She was a beige looking earth pony with a slightly curly grey mane. She had light blue eyes as well as having yellow rimmed glasses and a white collar with a green piece of cloth on it, hmm...not sure what they’re really called. “I had been informed by Ponyville’s residence that I was able to enroll for citizenship here, is this proven to be true?” She looked at me questionably look before getting what I was saying. “So your new to Ponyville?” I nodded. “Well welcome, I’m Mayor Mare, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” She took out her hoof for me to shake as I did the same. She told me to come inside her office to get started on enrolling. Although the process was tedious and excruciatingly boring, it was well worth it. During the process I had asked her if they’re were any sources of information I can reach. She told there was a library here before it burned to cinder for reasons unknown, or something she wasn’t willing to tell me. But then she added that there is a castle nearby and the owner of it, saying that it had what I was looking for regarding research or other purposes. “I’ve been meaning to ask you, is there a reason your asking me this?” I nodded. I guess it doesn’t hurt to bend the truth. “As a natural bookworm, I’ve been hoping to obtain various topics regarding Ponyville along with searching for items that are of great importance to me.” Feeling satisfied with my answer she dropped topic and walked me out with a smile, welcoming me to Ponyville once more. Now time to look for that castle. (Castle of Friendship) After asking ponies for directions I came across a tall crystallized building. Looking at it with curiosity. ’Judging by the structure it must’ve been built recently.’ Looking at the design made it seem like it was fit for royalty. Walking to the front of the door, I gently knock on the door. Hearing hoofsteps approaching I step back and smiled, connecting the dots on who this pony was. “Good Evening, are you by any chance Miss Sparkle?” > Chapter 3: One Friendly Conversation > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- My Little Pony: The Accursed Friendship Chapter 3: One Friendly Conversation (Castle of Friendship) “Umm, y-yes I am. How do you know that exactly?” Twilight asked in a slight mixture of suspicion and curiosity. “This town’s mayor had provided me with this castle’s owner along with word that you have various books of all subjects.” She nodded. “I am by no means familiar with the inhabitants of Ponyville and it’s surroundings. So it took it upon myself to locate the information of this lovely town so that I could be familiarized with it. I do hope that you have books and maps regarding this area?” Twilight smiled. “Oh! You like to read to? Please come in.” He nodded politely did as he was asked. “So why did you decide to come to Ponyville Bookmark?” Twilight asked. Bookmark looked all around the castle before answering. “Shortly after visiting many towns, cities and the like, I’ve been searching for something of great importance.” He looked like he was trying to find the right words. “I’ve been looking everywhere, searching every nook and cranny of every city and town with no such luck. I arrived here in hopes of another attempt at any leads.” Twilight smiled warmly. “Well, I hope you can what your looking for. Ponyville is very lively town, trust me when I say you won’t get bored here.” Bookmark let out a small chuckle. “Heh, so I’ve heard.” It was only a couple of minutes before Twilight and Bookmark arrived where they should, the library. When Twilight opened the door they were greeted with her number one assistant. “Oh hey Twilight who was at the door?” Spike asked as Twilight gestured to Bookmark. ’Thats not very nice Spike.’ “This is Bookmark, he just recently moved to Ponyville.” Spike walked up to him and raised his claw. “Nice to meet you, I’m-“ “Spike, only dragon in Ponyville from what I’ve gathered thus far, would I believe to be correct in that assumption?” Spike gave this weirded look at him. “Uh, yeah how did you-“ “Know? I simply overheard your little conversation about me, or should I say opinion about me.” Spike winced a bit. “Oh you heard that?” He let out a sheepish chuckle. “S-Sorry man, I didn’t mean to say that, it’s was just a accident and-“ Bookmark muffled out Spike’s mouth with his hoof and smiled. “Believe me, I’ve have my fair share of looks and whispers. Talking behind one’s back was not a rare occurrence either. So don’t think for a second that you’re in the wrong here.” Still feeling unsure, Spike let out a slow nod. Bookmark turned to Twilight. “Now, I believe that you were about to show me books regarding my current situation.” Twilight nodded as she showed him where they were. “Would you like me to show you around the various categories?” Twilight offered. “Your offer is appreciated, but unnecessary. Plus, this grants me the satisfaction of running into useful information for future events.” Bookmark left the group to walk around the room. As Bookmark kept browsing the sea of books, the door opens up again to see Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash barging through it. “Hey Twilight, you have to try these new cupcakes Pinkie made! They’re so good!” Rainbow exclaimed as she flew inside the room. Pinkie came along with her and smiled. “Yeah! I call them the Super Duper Scrumdeliuptious...umm.” Pinkie shrugged her shoulders. “Meh, it’s a work in progress.” She turned around to see Bookmark looking around various books, occasionally taking one out of the shelf, looking at the cover and putting it back. Perking up, she zoomed over to him. “Hiyah mister! Are you a new pony in town?” She asked as Bookmark turned towards her. “It’s awesome to meet you! I’m-“ “Pinkie Pie. Am I correct?” He answers calmly shocking everyone in the room, with Pinkie’s mouth agape like a fish. She lets out loud gasp. “You know who I am!? Are you psychic? Oh! What about her? What’s her name?” She points to Rainbow Dash, shaking excitedly hoping for him to get it right, but he just chuckles warmly. “Unfortunately that is a power beyond my capabilities, I had simply walked among Sugarcube Corner to sedate my need for food. While doing so I was discussing pastries with I’m assuming is your boss, Mrs. Cake. She mentioned you in our conversation and told me you working there has to be proven above satisfactory for them.” Pinkie’s mouth formed an O shape in wonder. “I know. The Cakes are awesome! Like there was this one time when had to make a really big order for Colgate along with-“ Bookmark muted her out as he looked at Rainbow’s way. “Pardon me for interrupting, but from the looks of your “dramatic” entrance, I assume you have an ulterior motive for arriving here in this particular area.” Pinkie nodded rapidly and dashed beside Rainbow. “Yeah! We heard there was a new pony in town and I got excited and wanted to meet him!” Bookmark looked at Pinkie inquisitively. ‘Him? Did she know about me beforehoof?’ Bookmark shrugged off the thought for the time being as Pinkie gestured to Rainbow. “This is Rainbow Dash! She’s the fastest pegasus pony in all of Equestria!” Rainbow lifted her chest up in pride while giving off a smug smirk. “That’s right! And don’t you forget it!” Rainbow hovered up to Bookmark. “I’m Rainbow Dash, resident weather pony and the awesomest pony around!” Bookmark smiled and shook each other’s hooves. ‘Technically not a word but whatever.’ Bookmark thought as he got a better look at Rainbow’s characteristics. ‘Glad I got her occupation correctly, brash, possibly stubborn to a T, with a high amount of unnecessary pride to her.’ He internally smirked. ‘Must be really easy to get a rise out of her.’ “Being the fastest pony in ALL of Equestria must be a quite the broad statement for one as such as yourself.” Bookmark walked up to her with a challenging smirk. “Is it possible you can ascertain this information by demonstrating your flight prowess to me?” Rainbow raised her eyebrow looking at him for a couple of seconds until Twilight spoke up. “He doesn’t believe you’re fast.” Rainbow narrowed her eyes. “Oh yeah? Then why don’t I prove it to you?” Rainbow getting in front of Bookmark’s face. He only smirked. “Then perhaps I would it be possible to record your speed and time? I would be delighted to further my research on the average pegasus and flight patterns.” Rainbow and Pinkie looked at each other before shrugging in unison. “Ready to prove me wrong?” He smirked. “You bet I am!” “And...Go!” Bookmark pointed to the entrance as Rainbow raced out of the castle. Pretending to look at the clock afterwards for a couple of seconds, he turns his attention to Twilight. “I hope to not become a bother, but is there any possible way to acquire some herbal tea by any chance? I don’t believe I had anything else other than the pastries before coming here.” Twilight nodded and giggled a little. “Don’t worry about it, I’m sure I can find something in the kitchen.” Bookmark muttered a thank you before she left. “And Pinkie.” She looks at him. “Mrs. Cake has treated me well with her delicious pastries.” He pulls out a scroll from underneath his cloak. “Allow me to offer you a gratuity for her efforts.” “Ooooh! What is it?” Tilting her head in curiosity. “It’s a recipe for various cupcakes and muffins from my mother, I’m sure your family will have much better use for it than mine.” She snatches it out of his hoof. “Do you really mean it?!” He just smiled. “Believe me, you will have much better use for it than for an individual like myself.” Suddenly without so much as a blink, Pinkie rushed towards him and gave him a bone crushing hug. “Ohthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!” A look of shock and fear plastered on his face as he was being squeezed like a big teddy bear. ‘W-what is this...pain?’ he thought as if it was a new experience for him. Before he could beg for his life, Pinkie zoomed out of the castle without a trace. Spike noticed his look of confusion and smiled. “Yep, that’s Pinkie Pie for you. Just one big pony made of energy.” Bookmark raised an eyebrow at him. “So then she’s always like this?” “Oh yeah, Twilight kept trying to find the reason for her antics. Turns out it was a waste of time and we just gave up and accepted it.” “Is there a reason for it?” Spike shrugged. “Like I said, we gave up trying to figured it out, take it from me and don’t bother trying, it’ll only hurt your brain more in the long run.” Bookmark looked deep in thought. ‘Hmmm...there must be a way to control the unpredictability, nothing can be that random as he claims.’ He looked at Spike again. “So....this Pinkie, I’ve seen excitement sure, but from the looks of it, she seems to radiate it non stop. I’ve haven’t seen anything like it.” Spike nodded. “Yep, that’s just how she is, she always likes to put a smile on everypony’s face, she’s the Element of Laughter after all.” Bookmark perked up at the fact. ‘Element of Laughter? As in one of the Elements of Harmony? They have names now? Just how long was I gone for?’ “Element of Laughter?” His confused look made Spike raise his eyebrow as well while setting his comic book down on the table. “Yeah, you’ve heard of the Elements of Harmony right?” He nodded. “I have yes, but to an extent.” Spike was about to speak before Bookmark raised his hoof. “I only recall the existence of them, but I don’t remember them having names for each one. Which reminds me, do you mind telling me the names of the other elements?” Spike shrugged. “Well, there’s Laughter which you already know is Pinkie Pie, then there’s Loyalty which is Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy’s Kindness, Applejack’s Honesty, and Rarity’s Generosity.” Bookmark took note of the names for future reference in his head. “I’m surprised you didn’t know this, it’s common knowledge in Equestria.” Bookmark clicked his tongue. “Common knowledge doesn’t necessarily mean they know of it, besides, when you’ve been traveling all around Equestria like I have, you tend to forget a few things.” Spike shrugged in agreement, or at least Bookmark thought he did, so he changed the subject. “Speaking of which, do you have any books regarding the Elements of Harmony? It would be great to have a refresher of it.” Spike nodded, getting up from his seat looking around the room. “Sure, should be somewhere in the history section...ah here it is.” Spike pulled out Bookmark was looking for. It was a brown coloured book with gold trimmings on it. It had no title but on the front it had a golden symbolic unicorn head with teal eyes. “It’s a little outdated, but it should get the job done.” Handing it to Bookmark, he smiled in response. “My gratitude Spike, are there any other books similar to this?” “Hmm...I think so, let me check.” Spike walked around browsing around. As he was talking to himself Bookmark looked at the direction of the kitchen, thankfully and quite questionably, Twilight was still in there. ‘I can sense powerful magic in this castle, if my theory’s right this should work.’ He then proceeded to focus his magic. His hoof glowed a dim grey light, putting his hoof on the book, he grabbed it and put it under his cloak. ‘Apologies, but I need this more than you guys.’ After sitting back down Spike came back carrying three books in his arms. “Here you go, you can check them if you want.” Bookmark politely nodded. Looking at there titles as Twilight came back with a whole tea set. ‘Heh, been wondering what was taking her.’ “Sorry for the wait, wasn’t sure what kind of tea you would like.” “You never asked.” Bookmark chuckled knowing he asked for it not her. “I know, you did.” Bookmark laughed at the remark. Took a cup, sipped and put it back on the table. “I know this may seem completely off topic, but were you always an alicorn?” Bookmark couldn’t help but ask. “O-oh uh, well no.” “So then what kind of pony were you previously?” “Oh I was unicorn before my transformation.” Transformation? “Did you use a transformation type spell?” “We’ll sort of, but not from me.” He raised an eyebrow. “Princess Celestia herself gave me the wings.” “So anypony could become an alicorn?” “It’s...more complicated than that.” “Then by all means, explain.” “Are you sure? It’s quite a long story.” Bookmark nodded. “Of course, I live for information. To know, is to excel. Knowledge is power as they say.” Bookmark stopped himself before he could start to rant over the topic. Twilight sighed before taking a sip from her tea. “Well, I guess you can say it all started like this.” A couple of minutes later Bookmark had put his hoof under his chin in a thinking posture. “Amazing, truly amazing. And now your the acclaimed Princess of Friendship and royalty?” Twilight smiled as her cheeks lit up a bit at the praise. “Princess of Friendship? Yes. But I still haven’t gotten used to being royalty still.” “Truly?” Twilight sheepishly shrugged her shoulders. “I suppose I can’t blame you, your new position must be quite stressful. You surely have big boots to fill.” Twilight looked confused for a second. “I think you mean big shoes to fill.” “Heh, with you newfound status and responsibilities? I know what I said.” Twilight and Bookmark both laughed. “Well thank you for letting me listen to your story.” Twilight smiled. “Oh it was no problem, I’m glad you understand my point of view. I hope you find it useful.” ‘More than you ever know.’ “It was, thank you.” Bookmark fake yawned and look at the clock. “My, it’s it that time already?” Twilight looked at the clock as her eyes widened in shock. “Wow, I guess talking for so long made time fly by.” Twilight hid a small yawn herself and smiled to see Spike pass out probably during her story time. “Why don’t you two get some rest?” Bookmark suggested as Twilight nodded, but stopped as she remembered to ask something. “Where are you gonna sleep?” “Don’t worry, I’ve got that figured out, just get some rest.” Twilight muttered a thank you and left the room with Spike on her back. Bookmark looked at the misplaced books and teacup set and sighed. ‘Curse my OCD.’ he thought as he started to clean up the place. It only took a few minutes before using his magic once more. He took out one sleeping bag from under his cloak as well as a piece of paper and a quill. Laughter = Pinkie Pie Loyalty = Rainbow Dash Honesty = ??? Kindness = ??? Generosity = ??? As he finished writing his list he finally went under his sleeping bag. ‘There’s definitely something about this castle. My suspicions can’t be confirmed just yet, but I know I’m on the right track.’ He sighed once more. ‘I can’t say for certain how strong Twilight is right now, but if she’s one of the five Elements, she can be a connection to finding the rest faster.’ He smirked. ‘To know your enemy, think like and be like them.’ With that last thought, slumber finally became one with him, smiling as it did so.
