Chapter 1
Prologue: The Dawn of The Primordials

3rd Person POV

In the beginning, there was nothing. No order, no chaos, nothing. Then in an explosion of power came the birth of Creation and Destruction. Constantly having repulsing one another in what appeared to be an endless dance. As the hatred between them came still, Creation and Destruction formed a new bond of power, as an agreement of peace between the two. The bond of Balance. The eternal peace of cooperation within the universe since one cannot exist without the other.

And from this Balance came the beginning of Time. A force that creates and destroys as it continues. Of course, Time was confused about his purpose in the eternal Balance of Creation and Destruction. He had no Order only Chaos. He needed something but didn’t know what. As Time looked across the endless Balance he began thinking.

‘If Balance can create me, then I shall create something of my own.’

Said Time as he created the first Light. As Light’s golden rays shone, the Balance began to darken as Shadows danced across whilst they absorbed the Light that shined across Dark’s new Void. Time was happy to have created something as Light and Dark danced across the cosmos creating Stars and Nebulas across the endless Space of the Void.

What Time didn't know was that his creations were fading out as they struggled against his endless currents.

‘Why must Light and Dark struggle against my eternal currents. If they can't last, then I shall create more forces to help them in their struggle.’

Time stated as turned towards one of the many Stars that littered Dark’s Void. As he reached towards the Star he grabbed something from within its center. As he pulled and pulled, the object finally ended as it laid across Time’s eternal hands. A long golden string made of an unknown power that which resonated with the entity. The first thing that came to his ancient mind was a single word, Life. This was Life he was holding. The string turned a deep green color as it dispersed and spread across the universe. Strengthening the stars against the endless currents.

As Time grabbed another string he noticed something different about it. It seemed Older and weaker than the previous one. As he observed it, he noticed that it began to turn black and crumble against his hands. The Star’s light began to fade as it burst into a flurry of color and dust. Death, that's what happened. The end of all things. His destructive nature got the best of him and the outcome was the creation of Death. But he also created Life. He was conflicted by this revelation. As a final thought crossed his mind he decided that he shouldn't create any more than he should destroy. As he left his creations to their own devices of Creation and Destruction. The universe grew ever more lively.

~ ~ ~}|{~ ~ ~

As the universe aged. The dance between Light and Dark had become stable whilst Life and Death became restless. Life wanted to create much like Time did but she wanted to make more out of it. She'd gathered nebulas and Stardust before cramming them together into a more solid substance. She created planets and asteroids, placing them all throughout out the universe but what she didn't know was that her magic was more powerful than she thought and without intention, she created another entity. Earth she called herself. The essence of all terrestrial bodies within the universe. Life was ecstatic about this but she still wanted to create more, no she needed to create more.

As she went through ideas she noticed Earth’s sorrow and decided to investigate.

‘Hello Earth. I had noticed your sorrow from afar. Tell me, what makes you sad?’

Life asked in concern for her creation.

‘Hello Life. I've just noticed how lonely I was. Everything is just so far away. I just want friends to keep close by and cure me of this loneliness.’

Earth said in sadness.

‘Then friends I shall create for you.’

Life said as she gathered more nebulas and Stardust. In light of the new project, she created a Sky for the planets to enjoy. Each one more unique than the rest. And like before, Life's magic gave the skies a collective essence of which called itself Air.

But Life wasn't satisfied with this so she created large oceans and seas on the planets, using some form of matter called liquid. Water she called the new entity. Life still wasn't happy, but she didn't know why. She was confused. She created beings much like her creator before her but she felt like she needed to create something different. As she passed by one of her planets she noticed something off about it. This planet held more magic than all the others she's encountered. As she landed upon the convergence of the Land, Sky, and Sea. she looked around the environment before her. It was calm and peaceful as the waves crashed against the sandy beaches that stretched across the solid expanse.

As she began to walk she noticed a tingling sensation in her feet. As she looked down, she noticed something soft and fuzzy growing beneath her feet. It was mostly green with colorful petals growing around it. Flowers she thought as she continued to look back from where she came she noticed other more colorful flowers behind her. Grass… Plants. She decided to continue walking. Now knowing that a trail of plants followed her as she walked. As she began to play around with the life that surrounded her, the land around her began to grow with plants of every kind, from trees to flowers to bushes and grass. As the plants grew, new creatures began to emerge from the forest, birds sang from above as small mammals scurried through the grass. Life was finally happy. She had found her bliss. As she continued to play with the nature that surrounded her. Centuries had passed by as her animals evolved with her magic.

More sentient species began to thrive, the most noticeable were three equine-like species. Earth Ponies of the mighty land, Pegasi of the endless sky, and Unicorns of the calming sea. But much to Life’s disagreement, Her counterpart, Death, had found the planet. And upon his arrival, plants began to wilt and wither, animals began to mutate with fangs and claws. Life wasn't really happy about these changes but she knew that Death was inevitable for her creations. And accepted the planet’s fate. But to her surprise. Death liked the life that thrived on the planet. In fact, he wanted to add on to it. With Life’s help, he created the Soul, a powerful life force that will last until the end of Time itself and can even withstand Death’s touch. He also created monsters and plants that have the base instinct to kill. He also gave benefits for the plants when others decay.

Unfortunately, his influence on the world negatively affected the guardians of the Land, Sky, and Sea. Air was the first to react. The skies darkened with rage above where the sky meets the sea. Thunder boomed as Lightning crackled, the first Storm was created. A Hurricane that destroyed everything in its path. In competition with the skies above. Earth’s crust began to crack and crumble as the surface exploded with intense heat as Fire spread across forests burning everything to ash. As the Land and Sky let out their fury upon the world. The seas began to freeze and harden with Water’s bitterness and hatred towards the two’s power.

Before the event could continue, both Life and Death intervened, stopping them before any more damage could happen. After the event, the world changed to accommodate the new entities that joined in. Leaving you with the world as you know it today.

Chapter 2
The Prophecies

3rd Person POV

As the world grew older, and species evolved. The ponies thrived along with others. Though the beings of the universe also evolved with them. They became to favor the ponies more than other species, becoming more like them. They even took their forms and names. As they grew older, they decided to call themselves Primordials, not Gods or Goddesses. They didn't hold themselves on that level of power and control. The names they are known for are; Joyful Harmony, Insane Chaos, Infinite Eon, Solis Aura, Mystic Void, Flora Blossom, Peaceful Oblivion, Terra Quartz, Zephyr Skies, Coral Seas, Thundering Tempests, Volcanic Inferno, and Frozen Snowfall. They've visited the ponies under these names many times. Teaching them all they knew about their domains and more.

After many years of watching and observing the creatures of Equis. The six primordials of the planet decided to create three new species in light of their development.

And so that year on the 12th day of the 2nd month, the plan was set. Terra Quartz and Volcanic Inferno appeared before the Earth Ponies with a gift. A small rock formation that burned with an eternal flame and spilled molten rock between its cracks. The altar was inscribed with a prophecy,

'When the time is right. A stallion of great strength and courage shall be born. And upon his death. On the longest day of the year, at midday. You shall place his ashes in the scorching desert where he shall rise anew.’

On the same day later that night. Coral Seas and Frozen Snowfall appeared before the Unicorns with a gift. A small fresh water fountain spring made of ice and snow. The altar was also inscribed with a prophecy.

'When the time is right. A mare of magical abilities beyond those around her shall be born. And upon her death. On the longest night of the year, at midnight. You shall place her ashes in the icy waters where she shall rise anew.’

Three days after the visitation of the previous four Primordials. Zephyr Skies and Thundering Tempests appeared before the Pegasi with a gift. A small cloud with storms raging and winds blowing. The altar, much like the ones before it, was inscribed with a prophecy.

‘When the time is right. Two brothers of great wisdom and speed shall beest born. And upon their deaths. After three days, you shall place their ashes under a great oak in an open plain, where they shall rise anew.’

Once the altars with the prophecies were given. The Primordials left leaving the world in turmoil. The Cataclysm as stated in the history books in the Canterlot Archives. Though unlike that tale of history, it wasn't the Alicorn Kingdom that disappeared, it was the Primordials of old that did. After many years, four ponies were born. An Earth Pony farmer by the name of Summer Blaze, a powerful Unicorn mage by the name of Morning Frost, and a Pegasus Commander and Lieutenant by the names of Hurricane and Tornado Blitz.

After many years of living in their separate tribes during the Age of Strife and The Three-Way War did the wendigos roll in, casting the land in a forsaken winter. This is where the classic tale of Hearths Warming Eve was born. When the three tribes united after the founding of Equestria. They still had tension between them when encountering one another. But eventually, they became friends, but unbeknown to them. They will be friends till the end of their lives and beyond.

Chapter 3
A Journal’s Introduction

3rd Person POV

It had been many years since the founding of Equestria. The tribes are still cautious of one another, some prejudices were still floating amongst the ponies but most have come to accept one another. One particular stallion, a Lieutenant of the Pegasus Legion. Has taken this union between the ponies, a step further. While some still think of this as a taboo, others strongly support it. Now this story takes place during the Alicorn Crusades. Where our protagonist will take a journey that will either cost him his life or his sanity.

<<<***>>>

?’s POV

My name is Lieutenant Tornado Blitz of the Pegasus Legion. Yes, I said Blitz. In fact, my older brother just happened to be one of the founders of Equestria. Eeyup, he's the one. Old ‘Thunderhead’ wouldn't know fun if it hit him on the head. I swear Hurricane needs to loosen up a bit sometimes. He's always serious. But he is a part of the Equestrian Counsel.

Times have changed since the Wendigos cursed us with eternal winter. We were more bitter and hated each other for our differences. I honestly don't know why we did, I saw everypony as unique in their own ways. Though, I wasn't always like this. I was much like everypony else. Hateful and full of prejudice. But if it wasn't for the special mare in my life, I wouldn't have become more open to others. She broke me of my prejudices and showed me that at the end of the day, whether you're an Earth Pony, Pegasus, or Unicorn. You are still a Pony, no matter what.

It took Hurricane to get trapped in a cave with the five other ponies to finally accept that. He's as stubborn as a mule sometimes, but he's always had a calm head when leading the Pegasi and the Legion. Now you're probably scouring this journal thinking you'd find something about the great Commander Hurricane Blitz of the Pegasi. Well sorry to disappoint you but it looks like you're stuck with his least popular younger brother. But the tale you’re about to read is just as interesting as the Hearth’s Warming tale that most are familiar with nowadays.

Yes, I know all about the Pageants of Modern Equestria, the Elements of Harmony, the Return of Princess Luna, the Return of the Crystal Empire, Discord’s Reformation, and the Five Alicorn Princesses. I was there. For all of it. Yes, I may be ancient, though I'm not a Pony that you'll find very easily. Tartarus, I'm not even a Pony at all. But you'll find out soon enough, I promise you that.

Chapter 4
An Offer of Adventure

Lt. Tornado Blitz’s POV

The world was filled with color as they danced across the landscape in a flurry of light. And at the edge stood a Pony of the most magnificent of beauty. She stood there as light radiated off her with an angelic grace. Just as I was about to move towards her, the world began to dissipate around as it all went white.

-!<{[=_=]}>!-

I woke up with a groan as the sun assaulted my eyes with its light.

“Why must the sun bother me so early in the morning?” I groaned as I stretched. The sounds of my joints popping as I flopped out of bed. My mind was still groggy from last nights sleep as I began my routine of getting ready, before heading towards the armour stand on the other side of the room. As I made my way towards my armour, I heard movement from the other side of the bed, signaling that the other Pony was waking up. I turned my head to see my special somepony as she slowly rose into a sitting position, she let out a small yawn whilst stretching her limbs.

“Good morning love. How did you sleep?” I said to her as she yawned and stretched. She rubbed her eyes as she looked around the room before her icy blue eyes landed on mine. She quickly hopped out of bed before heading towards me. Her name was Morning Frost, the Unicorn who caught my heart. Her coat shined with a brilliant near snow white glow as her mane and tail swayed like the seas royal blue waters. As for her eyes, they were like a pair of frozen blue pools that can cause any stallions heart to flutter. Her Cutie Mark consisted of a crystal eight pointed star with five snowflakes.

“Good morning Tornado, I slept great. How did you sleep?” She greeted happily as she kissed me before helping me into the rest of my armour.

“Thank you Morning, and I slept great as well,” I replied as we began to make our way towards the kitchen. Morning quickly lit the furnace with her magic as I went into the enchanted icebox to grab a few eggs. Morning always had an amazing talent with ice magic. We quickly made breakfast before heading out for the day.

I took off for the new city of Pegasopolis. It was quite big, the six-year-old clouded city of the Pegasi was marvelous to look at. The city had been growing exponentially. Just a few years ago, it had only been a few cloud houses here and there. But I wasn't here for sightseeing. I had somewhere to be. The Legion Barracks. The last thing I need to be is late for roll call. The General is very specific when it comes to being on time. And I don't want to be used for target practice.

As I landed in the courtyard, I quickly sped towards the barracks. And I made it there in eight seconds flat. ‘Huh new record.’ I thought as I strolled in. I hastily tried to make my way through the barracks, until I heard somepony call out to me.
“Hey Lightning!” The Pony called. I turned around to address the Pony that had spoken. But I had quickly recognized and greeted him.

“Hey, Pansy. Long time no see.” I greeted as he approached me.

“Indeed it has. So how've you been?” Pansy asked.

“I've been good. So what brings you out here to the barracks?” I asked him curiously.

“Oh sorry. It's just that your brother has requested your presence for a meeting with the Council.” He said in a serious tone.

“Well, why didn't you say so? Tell old Thunderhead that I'll meet him there as soon as possible.” I chuckled. I then quickly made my way back towards the courtyard before taking off.

After a few minutes of flight, I'd reached the Unicorn castle in Unicornia, where the Counsel meetings were held. I hastily made my way towards the Council's meeting chamber on the south side of the castle. Many of the guards that I've passed by gave me salutes along the way. As I approached the large wooden doors I was greeted by two of the Counsel’s Militia Centurions.

“Halt! What business do you have here?” The Centurion on my left demanded.

“I have been summoned by my brother Private. Now let me through.” I replied with a stoic expression.

“Very well sir.” The Centurion said before he and his partner opened the doors, allowing me to enter. Upon entry, I was quickly greeted with the surprise hug by a very energetic Chancellor Puddinghead.

“It's good to see you, sir,” I said in the standard militaristic manner. To which the Earth Pony chuckled.

“At ease Lieutenant. You're amongst friends here.” Puddinghead said with a smile.

“Indeed I am,” I muttered before continuing towards the meeting table in the center of the chamber. As we approached, the room quickly silenced. All six council members were here. Chancellor Puddinghead, Smart Cookie, Princess Platinum, Clover the Clever, Private Pansy, and my brother. Commander Hurricane Blitz of the Pegasus Legion.

He was a deep stormy blue which contrasted with his mane and tail, of which consisted of an assortment of faded blues and greys. His eyes were a bold jade green, that shone with wisdom and anger.
He wasn't that much taller than me but he can be intimidating when he wants to. I quickly took my seat as the council members acknowledged my presence. To which Hurricane then began.

“Now that Tornado is here, we can get down to business.” Hurricane said, eliciting a chorus of nods from the other members.

“So Tornado, are you aware of the Alicorn Crusades as of late?” Hurricane asked.

“Yes, I am aware of the Crusades,” I answered.

“Then there is no need to explain it to you then. Good.” Hurricane paused before taking a deep breath.

“Then you may know that as of late, we've been sending groups of ponies on expeditions in search of any remnants of the ancient Alicorn Kingdoms. The most recent of these expeditions have come back a few days ago and we're putting together another one which will set off in a few days time.” Hurricane explained.

“And within this team, we've decided to include you with them due to your quick reflexes and defensive training in the event of anything that may or may not go bad,” Hurricane concluded shortly, allowing me enough time to process everything.

“So I'm practically a bodyguard for the expedition?” I asked.

“Yes, this is correct.” He stated. After some thinking, I'd finally came to my decision.

“I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to decline,” I said. Causing some looks of confusion amongst the members.

“Are you sure Tornado?” Hurricane asked with a slightly raised eyebrow.

“Yes, I am positive,” I said with confidence.

“Very well then. But, before you head off to whatever you have planned. Just know that that Unicorn mare of yours has already agreed to this expedition thinking that you were going. So I'd think about this offer before it's too late. In the meantime... meeting adjourned.” Hurricane warned before dispersing the council.

I quickly made my way towards the castle gates before taking off towards the Legion Barracks once again. A lot of things were racing through my head. I just needed to think.

~~~}|{~~~
It was the end of the day and I was heading home. As I reached my house, I slowly came to a glide before landing. I calmly made my way to my porch. There were many flowers here and there. A couple trees but my yard wasn't too fancy. I unlocked my door before dropping my armor off on the stand in the bedroom. I made my way towards the kitchen. As I reached the stove and lit the coals. I heard the front door open. Signaling that someone had come home.
“Hey Snowflake.” I greeted from the kitchen as I grabbed the ingredients for tonight's dinner.
“Hi, Lightning.” Morning greeted. I heard the clip-clopping of her hooves get closer. I continued to grab the utensils needed, I felt the lips of my beloved touch my cheek in a loving manner. When I turned to look at her, her smile fell.
“Sweetie, you seem stressed. What's bothering you?” Morning asked in concern upon seeing the look in my eyes. I sighed before answering.
“It's just something that came up… Hurricane asked if I wanted to join some expedition as the bodyguard, to which I declined… But then I heard that you'd already said yes. So now I'm conflicted on whether I should take up the offer or not.” I said trying to fight an oncoming headache. But to my surprise, Morning quickly gave me another kiss. Before giving me a kind smile.
“It doesn't matter what you chose. As long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters. I won't get angry if you say no. I will still love you no matter what. You will always be my Lightning.” She said before giving me another quick peck on the cheek.
“And you will always be my Snowflake,” I said. To which I smiled before resuming to my previous task. The meal took around 45 minutes to cook. But you can't rush perfection.
After the events of today, I decided to ask Morning about hers.
“So… how was your day today Snowflake?” I asked.
“Oh it was great, I went to a medic station for a checkup like you suggested.” She said nervously.
“You did? So what's causing the symptoms?” I asked with concern. Morning had been throwing up a lot lately, along with her episodes of nausea, I became worried and suggested going to a medic station.
“Oh, nothing too serious. Just a small fever and an upset stomach. Nothing a little magic couldn't handle.” She said calmly.
“That's good, I was getting worried that it was something serious.” I sighed with relief. As she explained her day, I was constantly going over the offer. ‘Should I or should I not?’ I thought over and over again.
After cleaning the dishes, we headed up stairs to snooze off for the day. We had crawled into bed as we snuggled. Morning fell asleep shortly after. I on the other hoof, hadn't. The offer kept playing over and over through my thoughts. As I continued to lay there and think, I'd begun thinking about the dangers that Morning might encounter on the trip. My strong desire to protect and be with her claimed my final decision. ‘You know what, to Tartarus with it. I'll go if it means protecting my beautiful snowflake.’ I thought confidently. I rolled over to drape my wing over Morning before dozing off.
