> Noble Troublemakers > by Night--Mist > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Let the Shenanigans Begin > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was just another cool crisp morning in the streets of Canterlot. Many Middle class ponies were making their rounds, grabbing a spot of breakfast, with their choice of brewed coffee or tea. Twilight Velvet Sparkle, who usually took the name Velvet Sparkle and her husband were sitting at one of their favorite diners, The Apple Tree Brewhouse, which, in their humble opinion, had some of the best tea and coffee in the city. "To another fine year of harmony. Thanks to our two wonderful children, and their friends," Velvet said. "And to you honey, for being the mare that brought them into this world. No husband could be as lucky to have such a fine mare by his side," Nightlight Sparkle commented. They chimed their tea cups together and Velvet replied, "Don't sell yourself short darling. You taught our boy everything he knows." "True, but I wasn't the one who learned different path to immortality, and then taught our own daughter how to surpass her, with a little involvement from the Princess of Day," Nightlight casually stated. Velvet blushed. It was true. When she went by the name Twilight Clover, or as many knew her at the time as "Clover the Clever", and she was under the tutelage of Starswirl the Bearded back during the time before and during Equestria's founding, she had learned a path to immortality that did not require her to earn wings like her daughter and daughter-in-law had. She never released this finding to anypony, for at the time she felt they would misuse such a feat. But then she learned that she could know the path, and let other's know she obtained it, but she could keep to herself how the path to her immortality worked. And because she had performed this far before having any children, she was able to pass down her immortality to her decendants. Course, she also gave this immortality to her friends and her love. The biggest question was, how she would break this to her children when they needed to know. As the two basked in the memories of their past, there was a sudden commotion. "STOP YOU THEIVES!!!" Came the bellow of a noble they knew all too well. Lord Gold Mane had some of Shining Armor's personal guards chasing after two cloaked familiar faces. "Oh, boy. Looks like Peanut Butter and Night Mist have caused some excitement again this morning," Velvet said. "Indeed. Let's watch the fun," Nightlight said as the two finished their breakfast and paid for the meal. Night Mist and Peanut Butter had just found themselves on one of the Canterlot buildings roofs. "We'll have you hooves for trophies street rats!" One of the guards bellowed. "Wow. Like we haven't heard that one a million times, right brother?" Night Mist teased. "Indeed. I don't understand why they are trying to apprehend two ponies trying to help Equestria. Ready brother?" Peanut Butter asked, before dropping from the roof of the building and spreading his wings from beneath the cloak. The guards were in shock at Peanut Butter's act as Night Mist readied himself. "I can do this. I can do this, I just have to trick myself.... Boy look at that. What? WAAAAAAAHHH!!!" Night Mist screamed in delight as he dropped from the roof as well. By the time the guards came to their senses, the two thieves were no where in sight. They couldn't believe they let these ponies slip their hooves again. But something seemed familiar about them that the guards couldn't put their hooves on. They soon made their way back to the castle, feeling so embarrassed they had failed to keep the peace once again. Though, it wasn't as if the rest of Canerlot was in an uproar. Just the snobby, and shifty nobles. The guards at first didn't want to help these nobles, but rules did dictate that all crimes committed against anypony were to be dealt with. The reason the guards chased the two mystery ponies these days, was to try and regain some of their pride the two had stripped away. And Lord Gold Mane seemed to be one of their prime targets these days. They had informed the Captain of the Royal Guard, and of course, he would "punish" them, by getting them a drink or two to ease their troubled minds. Meanwhile, Peanut Butter and Night Mist were having a good laugh, loosing their cloaks as they made their way out of an abandoned ally. "Oh, this was a fun morning. and the reward will be just as satisfying," Peanut Butter stated. "Yeah. Just wait til Lord Gold Mane sees what's in store next," Night Mist added as the Bat Pony Alicorn brothers made their way back towards the crowds. "Ahem," Came a voice all too familiar too them. "Oh, Velvet... Nightlight. We didn't see you there. How was your morning?" Night Mist asked. "Quiet. Until two ponies caused a entertaining commotion in the streets," Velvet said. "Well, we didn't mean to let it go so far. But it was all in good fun," Peanut Butter stated. "You two boys haven't changed a bit since becoming alicorns all those years ago. Your not even out of being stable trained yet..... again, and you already cause so much mischief. How does your mother cope with it?" Nightlight asked rhetorically. "She doesn't. She gets in on the action sometimes. In her own way as our mother. Course. She usually does this as she wakes up, not before going to bed," Night Mist stated before a shadow loomed over the two colts in their training pants. "Which is where you two are headed after we run one last errand," said a strong, but maternal voice the recognized immediately. They looked up at their mother, Luna then at each other and said, "Uh oh, we're busted." "Indeed you are. But I'll let it go since you're doing something right with your little shenanigan your committing. But this means no Lunar Eclipses before bed this morning, since you were suppose to be in bed an hour ago," Luna informed them. "Doh, frostbite," Night Mist lowered his head in defeat. "I told you we should have used the invisibility horseshoes today," Peanut Butter stated. "Yeah, but where is the fun in that?" Night Mist argued. "...... touche' brother," Peanut Butter said. Everyone had a laugh before the ponies said their farewells, and took off their separate ways. Night Mist and Peanut Butter may have been young, but they were intelligent. But then again, their mother did have a little age accident with them and their sister a few years back, and they only didn't try to disobey her, since she could use the regression spell to her advantage, and the fact it was a one way spell that could be reversed by an aging spell, made the threat all the more devious. Course Autum Breeze was more well behaved then her Bat Pony brothers, and did the shenanigans at night with their mother, and didn't care if she was regressed again or not.
