Never Give Up

Sunburst Cloud stared up at the sky with wonder seeing Scootaloo fly for the very first time, it had inspired her first and longest living dream then.

She stared up with wonder and smiled with joy and delight now.

And as Scootaloo flew she also had pride too, because she never imagined that she would ever be up here even though she always had the hope that she would be, and as she flew she also smiled with joy and delight as well too.

And once her routine was finished she landed very softly on a random cloud now.

“Hey squirt, you were pretty good up there, maybe even better than me,” a very familiar voice that Scootaloo knew quite well and could never forget either.

“Don’t be so generous Rainbow Dash, I can fly but I’ll never be as good as you are,” she said trying to brush off the comment, but it was no use anymore.

“Exactly, you can only be as good as you are, and if you strive to beat me then you’ll always be disappointed if you fail, but if you strive to beat yourself at least you’ll never be angry and you won’t give up on yourself
either.”

“Well that’s a good piece of advice, but I doubt that I’ll ever get any fans.”

Rainbow Dash smiled, “I think that you already have one squirt.”

And with that said she turned around to see a blue filly standing there.

“S-Scootaloo?” she said very nervously, “I was wondering if you could sign this for me,” she said handing her a photograph with Scootaloo on it.

“Sure thing, anything for a fan of mine,” she said quickly signing it.

“Thanks a lot,” she said, “And I’m not just any fan, I’m your number one biggest fan of all time, and I want to
be just like you when I grow up too!”

“Yeah, I know exactly what and how you feel,” she said looking over at her very old mentor as she talked to other ponies about the past and also probably was trying to make Scootaloo’s natural flying abilities sound
awesome.

“So, what did you write on that photo?” she said coming over once she was done. “Oh, nothing much,” she said as she looked back at the filly again now.

And when she looked over she smiled with very fond remembrance as the blue little tiny filly left her, but now at least she was glad to know that she had a fan, and even if it was only just one for now it was still a start at least.

Many years later…

Sunburst sat on the ground very sad because she had her dreams crushed.

She had failed getting into the Wonderbolts Academy, and now she just wanted to give up and never try anything else ever again, old or new.

But then that was when her mentor and best friend came over to her.

“Hey there squirt, what’s up exactly?” Scootaloo said smiling and trying to make her smile too. “Oh, nothing much, I just failed the entrance exam to get into the Wonderbolts Academy, and now my dreams are completely crushed.

I never want to anything ever again, I just want to sit here and cry.”

“Hey, look, we all want to quit and give up and cry and shout with anger sometimes, but guess what, we can’t let that control us or our destiny, if we did then every pony would go around complaining about their job now.”

“I guess that’s true, but how can I go on when it’s so hard?”

“Hey, all the best things in my life have been very hard for me and it took time, love, patience and practice for many things, and to be rather honest with you I once really wasn’t a good flier. In fact I couldn’t even fly at all when I was still just a full-grown filly. And my cutie mark, well that also came in late too.”

“No way, surely you’re lying, an awesome pony like you had to be the best.”

“Not always, and Rainbow Dash wasn’t always the best either too.”

“No way, not the one and only legendary great Rainbow Dash surely?”

“The one and only, she was my friend and teacher just like I am too, and she made me swear never to tell any pony about her fears or past too either.

And I want you to promise the same about me, okay then?”

“Sure thing, I can keep a secret, but how does this help me out exactly?”

“Well you may have failed today kid, but victory is about getting each time that we fail, and hopefully we’ll just have to hope we can succeed tomorrow or in another time, because it doesn’t really matter when if we’re not ready yet.”

“Thanks for your words, you have always been there for me, you’ve always been very nice and kind and generous even when others weren’t,” she said now.

“Hey, don’t cry,” she said tilting her head up and wiping away Sunburst’s tears now, “And if you are then I really hope that it’s tears of joys instead.”

“Well I don’t know, I’m sad about the Wonderbolts, but happy that you’re always here for me no matter
what, and that you also inspire me as well too.”

“Kid, I’m never going to give up on you just like my dreams, no matter what, and that’s a promise that I’m going to keep no matter what happens to us.”

“And can you please tell me why that is exactly?”

“Because you’re my best friend and number one biggest fan, you always have been and you always will be too,” she said as she took Sunburst under her wing and then together they smiled as they watched the sky
then.

And then slowly Sunburst pulled out a very old photograph that was still very special to her for some strange mysterious odd reason that she didn’t know quite why she kept it other than she knew that it always inspired her.

Because on the photograph was Scootaloo’s signature and three words written there too, three word that had changed her whole entire life.

Never Give Up.

The End.
