> Make Equestria Great Again > by Donald Trot > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Make Equestria Great Again > -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Make Equestria Great Again That would be a campaign slogan for one of the most heated political races Equestria would ever see and eventually be owned by the pony to win that race. Donald Trot. He was a very unlikely candidate for Prince; he was a buisnesscolt in the eyes of most, not a politician; but now he was and going to become the most powerful pony in the world: the Prince of Equestria. But how did this come to be? What road did he take to become where he is now? What could other ponies do to achieve such a role as prince? But most importantly . . . when did Equestria turn into a Demanecratic Republic? And where are Princess Celestia and Luna? To put it simply, years ago, the two princesses were falling under criticism for being in power for as long as they were. The ponies were disgruntled; they felt as if they didn't have a say in governmental procedures, and that Celestia, being in the position she maintained for so long, didn't understand normal pony life while Princess Luna, away for 1000 years, didn't help in the slightest. Thus, Celestia declared Equestria a Demanecratic Republic with representatives from each major city set to where everypony has an equal and fair say. Many elections later, a looming tower shadows over Neigh York. Donald Trot, overlooking the crowds of confused mares and stallions, prepares his speech: “Mares and Gentlecolts,” he spoke, waving his arms over the many news reports and citizens listening in the lobby of his golden tower, “I am officially running for Prince of Equestria.” Reporters and all ponies alike gasped; though a few did clap, they were overpowered by the amount of surprise in the moment. Donald Trot continued, wrapping an arm around his beloved daughter, Ivanhoof Trot. “I love my company, I really do; but I love my country even more,” his voice rang with its own distinctive Neigh York accent. “Our country needs, and deserves, a comeback,” he continued his speech with word charged with the fire to win; but at the end of it all, he concluded, “Sadly, the Equestrian Dream is dead; but if I get elected Prince, I will bring it back bigger and better and stronger than ever before!” Hoof stomps of approval cheered him along as he finished his timeless speech. Many news outlets targeted his choice of words against the Zebra nation: “When the Zebra homeland sends its zebras, they're not sending their best...They're bringing voodoo magic; they're bringing potions; they're bringing harm to our ponies, and some, I assume, are good zebras.” These statements, like the many others, brought a massive amount of backlash from the public view. Companies cut ties, the public got angry and were hostile against his supporters, and many candidates condemned Trot for his speech. After his announcement, he started traveling around Equestria by going to key locations like Ponyville and New Hampsire. A month later, he campaigned in Las Pegasus and in the San Franciscolt area, soon finishing his travels all over Equestria. Being covered by Timberwolf News, the First Reponblycan Primary Debate happened soon after Trot’s travels. And although he wasn't officially a Reponblycan at the time, he knew he’d later become one. Following the winter solstice, Trot gave a speech about more immigration policies he had in mind. Calling for a “total and complete shutdown of griffons entering Equestria until we can figure out what is going on”. (This call was made after reports of griffons conspiring against Equestria.) Shortly after the Winter Wrap Up, caucuses from around Equestria started pouring in; and, at the time, Donald Trot was doing surprisingly well, winning 8 out of 12 cities and coming in second place out of the others. Unfortunately, other spectators of the race were not pleased with how Trot was handling the election, with most complaints coming from Trot's aggressive comments toward zebras and griffons. Even previous candidates like Mitt Romneigh called him out, saying he was a “phony pony” and adding that he did not have “the temperament nor the judgment to be Prince”. But despite that, ponies still voted for him. Most ponies agreed with what he said, despite the aggressive attitude, they liked how he spoke his mind and it seemed as though he was truly ready to steer this country in the right direction, fixing it from the inside to then the outside. Though, on the Demanecratic side of the spectrum, there were two ponies who really stood out. Hillary Clopton and Bernie Saddles. Mrs. Clopton had a lot of time and (questionable) experience. While she has been in politics for quite some time, (with such adventures as: being involved as the first lady to a former Prince and being the secretary of city-state for the country) but there was one thing that’d been holding her back: 33,000 scrolls that contained private, royal-class information that wasn't supposed to be released and could hurt Equestria’s national security. Bernie Saddles was different, he had been fighting for every progressive effort since the 60's and began racking up a lot of votes with younger ponies. With the promises of free education and the end of the “wealthy corruption” in Equestria, the young ponies thought he was truly the one to save Equestria. The one thing that went badly for Saddles is that he didn't get enough votes to succeed. Many mares and colts in the Demanecratic Party saw his race as the losing one; but, at the end of the run, when it was time to pick a winner, Clopton was the one to take the cake as the Demanecratic Party's nomination. However, during the run, 2 other ponies ran for the title of Prince/Princess. At the time, they were deprived of everything the other 2 candidates were getting, including coverage, money, votes, and delegates; but they still tried to run for what they believed in. These ponies were: Gallop Johnson, who ran and won the Libmaretarian nomination, and Filly Stein, who won the Greenery Party nomination. Unfortunately, both of them were so low in the polls they did not meet the criteria to participate in the presidential debates. So, at the time of the debate, it was Hillary Clopton and Tim Mane vs Donald Trot and Mike Prance. The 3 debates that followed both of their party nominations were to show their outlook on Equestria and how things were going to be if they succeeded as Prince/Princess. Throughout the debate, the two candidates continued to jab at each other, describing their issues bluntly. Though polls showed that Mrs. Clopton won over Mr. Trot, she was reported as sounding prepared, but robotic; Trot appeared to be far tougher in words and revealed more honesty to his fellow ponies. While on the Vice-Prince/Princess side of the nomination, Mr. Prance was more docile in his remarks, defending his candidate while Mr. Mane had to do the same; though, he attacked Trot more aggressively and interrupted Prance every way he could, granting him an overall negative appearance. Finally, a month before the winter solstice, election night was on a rise. Ponies from all over Equestria went to their cities’ polls to begin voting. In a surprise turn of events, many key cities (swing cities) who previously voted Demanecratic were now turning Reponblycan. Every poll that was released showed Clopton as beating Trot; but as it turns out, the polls were only located in highly populated areas where Demanecratic view was high, leaving rural areas, who were known to be very Reponblycan, excluded, resulting in misleading results. The rural ponies traveled in droves to vote for Trot while ponies who voted for Obamare last term chose not to vote for Demanecratic. Another reason Trot was winning was because he was more mobile, moving around Equestria more frequently and securing his vote in cities like Idahoof, Manetana, Mareizona, and Appleloosa, all while boosting his popularity. Mrs. Clopton, however, focused on cities she knew opposed her and didn't try to focus on cities she thought she had. In the end, she lost. In the “winner takes all” system designed for cities, the pony who won would receive all electors; meaning, if Trot won any city, even if by 6,000 votes, the electors would all have to vote for what the people wanted. Even though Mrs. Clopton won more overall votes, those extra votes were from States where she won overwhelmingly; the system was designed so that everyone every state, not just a few, had a voice. Early the next morning, when all the votes were counted, it was determined that Mr. Trot had won and Mrs. Clopton had to concede. Following this announcement, riots erupted across Equestria; Mr. Trot called for Equestria to come together. While schools were canceled to help ponies cope with the “emotional trauma” of Mr. Trot’s victory, other ponies remained in fear of being placed in “new-age concentration camps”. Equestria was deeply divided and Mr. Trot had a lot to do to bring this country together. So, over the next few months, he created a cabinet of ponies he thought would be the best at protecting the values he set forth from this country. With his plan of setting up hard immigration laws against zebras and griffons, focusing on Equestria instead of trading with other nations, and defending the value of the Equestrian laws, the ponies of Equestria can rest easy, knowing they’ve elected the right pony to Make Equestria Great Again.
